Designed by scientists and teachers at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, telescopes are designed to allow young people around the country to explore the wonders of the deep sky from their classrooms or after-school centers.

They are located and maintained at observatories affiliated with the Center for Astrophysics, including the Harvard College Observatory in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the Whipple Observatory in Amado, Arizona.

Solar & Heliospheric Observatory

Service places and regularly updates photos of the sun from SOHO and SDO satellites.
Photos are updated quite often, almost in real time.
Sometimes you can see something else, such as Mercury, comets flying up to the sun.

You can work with the archive and even open a new comet, such cases were.

The service uses a base of 19 telescopes in the U.S., Spain and Australia mainly in the mountains, where city lights do not interfere with taking good pictures.
The service is paid, but there is a free version.

The site can take photos of planets or deep space.
After registration, we get 40 points and can take pictures with a telescope with a Ø 150 mm lens.
For a fee of $5-10 we get access to a more powerful telescope with a Ø 700 mm lens.
Here we get another 30 points.
We spend the points on pictures, for example

  • shot of the planet - 1 point,
  • shot of a galaxy or nebula 15-20 points.
