We do not install just the program on the computer, but in the OS (operating system), for example. Windows or Linux ... Because the program does not need to write all the code, but use the OS resources.
Because we see in the programs a lot in common - the style of the shell, the menu (File, Edit, View ...).
And some programs require an additional environment: Java, NET Framework or use the engine Internet Explorer.

For better interaction with the system, programs are installed in a specific folder, registered in the system, that is, integrated with it. So it works faster because it uses system resources.

Portable version

The main purpose is to have a USB flash drive with you, wherever we go. Such use is not enough for anyone, my version is more suitable.

Who makes portable versions

1. Manufacturers, sometimes on the manufacturer's website you can choose a portable version,
2. not all software manufacturers make portable versions, third-party developers create portable versions and post on this site.

We can make a portable version

1. Install the program on the computer,
2. copy the folder with the installed program from Program Files,
3. delete the program using an anInstaller, E.g. Revo Uninstaller or GeekUninstaller. They will clear the tails, everything written into the system.
4. We try to run our copy from the folder, if it works, you can use it.
