chapter 4 Heaven

Rev 4:1-2 … Come up hither … in the spirit …

Jesus knocks and seems to want to come to us, in fact He invites Himself to Himself. In this chapter, as in the book as a whole, there is a connection with many of the prophecies of the Bible: Is 6, Zec 4:2, Dan 7, Ez 1:5. In DAn 7 we are talking about the same story, but the main difference is that it does not talk about the growth of Christ, but about the withering away of the empires of the world. In fact, there will not be an instantaneous change in power. The power of Christ is coming, but the power of darkness is gone:

1Cor 2:6 … princes of this world, that come to naught:

eder 4245πρεσβυτερος – oldest; reverence, more importantly; ambassador. Is everywhere translated as an elder, pastor, or presbyter.

Rev 21:12,14  … at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel …

The wall of the city has 12 bases, and on them the names of the 12 Apostles of the Lamb. 24 elders - 12 apostles and heads of the tribes of Israel - the fullness of the Church and Israel.
