¹ בִּשְׁנַ֣ת H8141 year שָׁל֔וֹשׁ H7969 In the third לְמַלְכ֖וּת H4438 of the reign יְהוֹיָקִ֣ים H3079 of Jehoiakim מֶֽלֶךְ־ H4428 king יְהוּדָ֑ה H3063 of Judah בָּ֣א H935 came נְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּ֧ר H5019 Nebuchadnezzar מֶֽלֶךְ־ H4428 king בָּבֶ֛ל H894 of Babylon יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם H3389 unto Jerusalem וַיָּ֥צַר H6696 and besieged עָלֶֽיהָ׃ H5921 and

² וַיִּתֵּן֩ H5414 gave אֲדֹנָ֨י H136 And the Lord בְּיָד֜וֹ H3027 into his hand אֶת־ H853 יְהוֹיָקִ֣ים H3079 Jehoiakim מֶֽלֶךְ־ H4428 king יְהוּדָ֗ה H3063 of Judah וּמִקְצָת֙ H7117 with part כְּלֵ֣י H3627 of the vessels בֵית־ H1004 of the house הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים H430 of God וַיְבִיאֵ֥ם H935 which he carried אֶֽרֶץ־ H776 into the land שִׁנְעָ֖ר H8152 of Shinar בֵּ֣ית H1004 to the house אֱלֹהָ֑יו H430 of his god וְאֶת־ H853 הַכֵּלִ֣ים H3627 the vessels הֵבִ֔יא H935 and he brought בֵּ֖ית H1004 house אוֹצַ֥ר H214 into the treasure אֱלֹהָֽיו׃ H430 of his god

³ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 spake הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 And the king לְאַשְׁפְּנַ֖ז H828 unto Ashpenaz רַ֣ב H7227 the master סָרִיסָ֑יו H5631 of his eunuchs לְהָבִ֞יא H935 that he should bring מִבְּנֵ֧י H1121 of the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל H3478 of Israel וּמִזֶּ֥רַע H2233 seed הַמְּלוּכָ֖ה H4410 and of the king's וּמִן־ H4480 some הַֽפַּרְתְּמִֽים׃ H6579 and of the princes

⁴ יְלָדִ֣ים H3206 Children אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 whom אֵֽין־ H369 else בָּהֶ֣ם H0 כָּל־ H3605 every <מְאוּם כ> (מוּם֩ H3971 blemish ק) וְטוֹבֵ֨י H2896 but well מַרְאֶ֜ה H4758 favoured וּמַשְׂכִּילִ֣ים H7919 and skilful בְּכָל־ H3605 every חָכְמָ֗ה H2451 in all wisdom וְיֹ֤דְעֵי H3045 and cunning דַ֙עַת֙ H1847 in knowledge וּמְבִינֵ֣י H995 and understanding מַדָּ֔ע H4093 science וַאֲשֶׁר֙ H834 and who כֹּ֣חַ H3581 and such as ability בָּהֶ֔ם H0 לַעֲמֹ֖ד H5975 in them to stand בְּהֵיכַ֣ל H1964 palace הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 in the king's וּֽלֲלַמְּדָ֥ם H3925 and whom they might teach סֵ֖פֶר H5612 the learning וּלְשׁ֥וֹן H3956 and the tongue כַּשְׂדִּֽים׃ H3778 of the Chaldeans

⁵ וַיְמַן֩ H4487 appointed לָהֶ֨ם H0 הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ H4428 And the king דְּבַר־ H1697 provision י֣וֹם H3117 A daily בְּיוֹמ֗וֹ H3117 A daily מִפַּת־ H0 בַּ֤ג H6598 meat הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 of the king's וּמִיֵּ֣ין H3196 and of the wine מִשְׁתָּ֔יו H4960 which he drank וּֽלְגַדְּלָ֖ם H1431 so nourishing שָׁנִ֣ים H8141 years שָׁל֑וֹשׁ H7969 them three וּמִ֨קְצָתָ֔ם H7117 that at the end יַֽעַמְד֖וּ H5975 thereof they might stand לִפְנֵ֥י H6440 before הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 the king

⁶ וַיְהִ֥י H1961 become בָהֶ֖ם H0 מִבְּנֵ֣י H1121 Now among these were of the children יְהוּדָ֑ה H3063 of Judah דָּנִיֵּ֣אל H1840 Daniel חֲנַנְיָ֔ה H2608 Hananiah מִֽישָׁאֵ֖ל H4332 Mishael וַעֲזַרְיָֽה׃ H5838 and Azariah

⁷ וַיָּ֧שֶׂם H7760 gave לָהֶ֛ם H1992 Then שַׂ֥ר H8269 Unto whom the prince הַסָּרִיסִ֖ים H5631 of the eunuchs שֵׁמ֑וֹת H8034 names וַיָּ֨שֶׂם H7760 for he gave לְדָֽנִיֵּ֜אל H1840 unto Daniel בֵּ֣לְטְשַׁאצַּ֗ר H1095 of Belteshazzar וְלַֽחֲנַנְיָה֙ H2608 and to Hananiah שַׁדְרַ֔ךְ H7714 of Shadrach וּלְמִֽישָׁאֵ֣ל H4332 and to Mishael מֵישַׁ֔ךְ H4335 of Meshach וְלַעֲזַרְיָ֖ה H5838 and to Azariah עֲבֵ֥ד H0 נְגֽוֹ׃ H5664 of Abednego

⁸ וַיָּ֤שֶׂם H7760 purposed דָּנִיֵּאל֙ H1840 But Daniel עַל־ H5921 in לִבּ֔וֹ H3820 in his heart אֲשֶׁ֧ר H834 after לֹֽא־ H3808 not יִתְגָּאַ֛ל H1351 that he would not defile בְּפַתְבַּ֥ג H6598 meat הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 of the king's וּבְיֵ֣ין H3196 nor with the wine מִשְׁתָּ֑יו H4960 which he drank וַיְבַקֵּשׁ֙ H1245 therefore he requested מִשַּׂ֣ר H8269 of the prince הַסָּרִיסִ֔ים H5631 of the eunuchs אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 after לֹ֥א H3808 not יִתְגָּאָֽל׃ H1351 that he might not defile

⁹ וַיִּתֵּ֤ן H5414 had brought הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ H430 Now God אֶת־ H853 דָּ֣נִיֵּ֔אל H1840 Daniel לְחֶ֖סֶד H2617 into favour וּֽלְרַחֲמִ֑ים H7356 and tender love לִפְנֵ֖י H6440 with שַׂ֥ר H8269 the prince הַסָּרִיסִֽים׃ H5631 of the eunuchs

¹⁰ וַיֹּ֜אמֶר H559 said שַׂ֤ר H8269 And the prince הַסָּרִיסִים֙ H5631 of the eunuchs לְדָ֣נִיֵּ֔אל H1840 unto Daniel יָרֵ֤א H3373 I fear אֲנִי֙ H589 I אֶת־ H853 אֲדֹנִ֣י H113 my lord הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 the king אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who מִנָּ֔ה H4487 who hath appointed אֶת־ H853 מַאֲכַלְכֶ֖ם H3978 your meat וְאֶת־ H853 מִשְׁתֵּיכֶ֑ם H4960 and your drink אֲשֶׁ֡ר H834 who לָמָּה֩ H4100 why יִרְאֶ֨ה H7200 for why should he see אֶת־ H853 פְּנֵיכֶ֜ם H6440 your faces זֹֽעֲפִ֗ים H2196 worse liking מִן־ H4480 more הַיְלָדִים֙ H3206 than the children אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who כְּגִֽילְכֶ֔ם H1524 exceedingly וְחִיַּבְתֶּ֥ם H2325 endanger אֶת־ H853 רֹאשִׁ֖י H7218 my head לַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 to the king

¹¹ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר H559 Then said דָּנִיֵּ֖אל H1840 Daniel אֶל־ H413 to הַמֶּלְצַ֑ר H4453 to Melzar אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 whom מִנָּה֙ H4487 had set שַׂ֣ר H8269 whom the prince הַסָּֽרִיסִ֔ים H5631 of the eunuchs עַל־ H5921 over דָּנִיֵּ֣אל H1840 over Daniel חֲנַנְיָ֔ה H2608 Hananiah מִֽישָׁאֵ֖ל H4332 Mishael וַעֲזַרְיָֽה׃ H5838 and Azariah

¹² נַס־ H5254 Prove נָ֥א H4994 Please אֶת־ H853 עֲבָדֶ֖יךָ H5650 thy servants יָמִ֣ים H3117 days עֲשָׂרָ֑ה H6235 I beseech thee ten וְיִתְּנוּ־ H5414 and let them give לָ֜נוּ H0 מִן־ H4480 some הַזֵּרֹעִ֛ים H2235 us pulse וְנֹאכְלָ֖ה H398 to eat וּמַ֥יִם H4325 and water וְנִשְׁתֶּֽה׃ H8354 to drink

¹³ וְיֵרָא֤וּ H7200 be looked upon לְפָנֶ֙יךָ֙ H6440 before מַרְאֵ֔ינוּ H4758 Then let our countenances וּמַרְאֵה֙ H4758 thee and the countenance הַיְלָדִ֔ים H3206 of the children הָאֹ֣כְלִ֔ים H398 that eat אֵ֖ת H853 פַּתְבַּ֣ג H6598 meat הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 of the king's וְכַאֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who תִּרְאֵ֔ה H7200 and as thou seest עֲשֵׂ֖ה H6213 deal עִם־ H5973 with עֲבָדֶֽיךָ׃ H5650 with thy servants

¹⁴ וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע H8085 So he consented לָהֶ֖ם H0 לַדָּבָ֣ר H1697 to them in this matter הַזֶּ֑ה H2088 this וַיְנַסֵּ֖ם H5254 and proved יָמִ֥ים H3117 days עֲשָׂרָֽה׃ H6235 them ten

¹⁵ וּמִקְצָת֙ H7117 And at the end יָמִ֣ים H3117 days עֲשָׂרָ֔ה H6235 of ten נִרְאָ֤ה H7200 appeared מַרְאֵיהֶם֙ H4758 their countenances ט֔וֹב H2896 fairer וּבְרִיאֵ֖י H1277 and fatter בָּשָׂ֑ר H1320 in flesh מִן־ H4480 than כָּל־ H3605 all הַיְלָדִ֔ים H3206 than all the children הָאֹ֣כְלִ֔ים H398 which did eat אֵ֖ת H853 פַּתְבַּ֥ג H6598 meat הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 of the king's

¹⁶ וַיְהִ֣י H1961 continued הַמֶּלְצַ֗ר H4453 Thus Melzar נֹשֵׂא֙ H5375 took away אֶת־ H853 פַּתְבָּגָ֔ם H6598 the portion of their meat וְיֵ֖ין H3196 and the wine מִשְׁתֵּיהֶ֑ם H4960 that they should drink וְנֹתֵ֥ן H5414 and gave לָהֶ֖ם H0 זֵרְעֹנִֽים׃ H2235 them pulse

¹⁷ וְהַיְלָדִ֤ים H3206 children הָאֵ֙לֶּה֙ H428 these אַרְבַּעְתָּ֔ם H702 As for these four נָתַ֨ן H5414 gave לָהֶ֧ם H0 הָֽאֱלֹהִ֛ים H430 God מַדָּ֥ע H4093 them knowledge וְהַשְׂכֵּ֖ל H7919 and skill בְּכָל־ H3605 every סֵ֣פֶר H5612 in all learning וְחָכְמָ֑ה H2451 and wisdom וְדָנִיֵּ֣אל H1840 and Daniel הֵבִ֔ין H995 had understanding בְּכָל־ H3605 all חָז֖וֹן H2377 in all visions וַחֲלֹמֽוֹת׃ H2472 and dreams

¹⁸ וּלְמִקְצָת֙ H7117 Now at the end הַיָּמִ֔ים H3117 of the days אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which אָמַ֥ר H559 had said הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 that the king לַהֲבִיאָ֑ם H935 he should bring וַיְבִיאֵם֙ H935 brought שַׂ֣ר H8269 them in then the prince הַסָּרִיסִ֔ים H5631 of the eunuchs לִפְנֵ֖י H6440 them in before נְבֻכַדְנֶצַּֽר׃ H5019 Nebuchadnezzar

¹⁹ וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר H1696 communed אִתָּם֮ H854 for הַמֶּלֶךְ֒ H4428 And the king וְלֹ֤א H3808 not נִמְצָא֙ H4672 with them and among them all was found מִכֻּלָּ֔ם H3605 all כְּדָנִיֵּ֣אל H1840 none like Daniel חֲנַנְיָ֔ה H2608 Hananiah מִֽישָׁאֵ֖ל H4332 Mishael וַעֲזַרְיָ֑ה H5838 and Azariah וַיַּֽעַמְד֖וּ H5975 therefore stood לִפְנֵ֥י H6440 they before הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 the king

²⁰ וְכֹ֗ל H3605 every דְּבַר֙ H1697 And in all matters חָכְמַ֣ת H2451 of wisdom בִּינָ֔ה H998 understanding אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which בִּקֵּ֥שׁ H1245 enquired מֵהֶ֖ם H1992 like הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 that the king וַֽיִּמְצָאֵ֞ם H4672 of them he found עֶ֣שֶׂר H6235 them ten times יָד֗וֹת H3027 better עַ֤ל H5921 better כָּל־ H3605 all הַֽחַרְטֻמִּים֙ H2748 than all the magicians הָֽאַשָּׁפִ֔ים H825 astrologers אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 who בְּכָל־ H3605 all מַלְכוּתֽוֹ׃ H4438 that in all his realm

²¹ וַֽיְהִי֙ H1961 continued דָּֽנִיֵּ֔אל H1840 And Daniel עַד־ H5704 until שְׁנַ֥ת H8141 year אַחַ֖ת H259 continued unto the first לְכ֥וֹרֶשׁ H3566 Cyrus הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 of king פ

¹ וּבִשְׁנַ֣ת H8141 year שְׁתַּ֗יִם H8147 And in the second לְמַלְכוּת֙ H4438 of the reign נְבֻֽכַדְנֶצַּ֔ר H5019 of Nebuchadnezzar חָלַ֥ם H2492 dreamed נְבֻֽכַדְנֶצַּ֖ר H5019 Nebuchadnezzar חֲלֹמ֑וֹת H2472 dreams וַתִּתְפָּ֣עֶם H6470 was troubled רוּח֔וֹ H7307 wherewith his spirit וּשְׁנָת֖וֹ H8142 and his sleep נִהְיְתָ֥ה H1961 brake עָלָֽיו׃ H5921 and

² וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 commanded הַ֠מֶּלֶךְ H4428 Then the king לִקְרֹ֨א H7121 to call לַֽחַרְטֻמִּ֜ים H2748 the magicians וְלָֽאַשָּׁפִ֗ים H825 and the astrologers וְלַֽמְכַשְּׁפִים֙ H3784 and the sorcerers וְלַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים H3778 and the Chaldeans לְהַגִּ֥יד H5046 for to shew לַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 the king חֲלֹמֹתָ֑יו H2472 his dreams וַיָּבֹ֕אוּ H935 So they came וַיַּֽעַמְד֖וּ H5975 and stood לִפְנֵ֥י H6440 before הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 the king

³ וַיֹּ֧אמֶר H559 said לָהֶ֛ם H1992 like הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 And the king חֲל֣וֹם H2472 a dream חָלָ֑מְתִּי H2492 unto them I have dreamed וַתִּפָּ֣עֶם H6470 was troubled רוּחִ֔י H7307 and my spirit לָדַ֖עַת H3045 to know אֶֽת־ H853 הַחֲלֽוֹם׃ H2472 the dream

⁴ וַֽיְדַבְּר֧וּ H1696 Then spake הַכַּשְׂדִּ֛ים H3778 the Chaldeans לַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 to the king אֲרָמִ֑ית H762 in Syriack מַלְכָּא֙ H4430 O king לְעָלְמִ֣ין H5957 for ever חֱיִ֔י H2418 live אֱמַ֥ר H560 tell חֶלְמָ֛א H2493 the dream <לְעַבְדַּיִךְ כ> (לְעַבְדָ֖ךְ H5649 servant ק) וּפִשְׁרָ֥א H6591 the interpretation נְחַוֵּֽא׃ H2324 and we will shew

⁵ עָנֵ֤ה H6032 answered מַלְכָּא֙ H4430 The king וְאָמַ֣ר H560 and said <לְכַשְׂדָּיֵא כ> (לְכַשְׂדָּאֵ֔י H3779 Chaldean ק) מִלְּתָ֖א H4406 The thing מִנִּ֣י H4481 from me אַזְדָּ֑א H230 is gone הֵ֣ן H2006 if לָ֤א H3809 ye will not תְהֽוֹדְעוּנַּ֙נִי֙ H3046 make known חֶלְמָ֣א H2493 unto me the dream וּפִשְׁרֵ֔הּ H6591 with the interpretation הַדָּמִין֙ H1917 in pieces תִּתְעַבְד֔וּן H5648 thereof ye shall be cut וּבָתֵּיכ֖וֹן H1005 and your houses נְוָלִ֥י H5122 a dunghill יִתְּשָׂמֽוּן׃ H7761 shall be made

⁶ וְהֵ֨ן H2006 But if חֶלְמָ֤א H2493 the dream וּפִשְׁרֵהּ֙ H6591 and the interpretation תְּֽהַחֲוֹ֔ן H2324 ye shew מַתְּנָ֤ן H4978 gifts וּנְבִזְבָּה֙ H5023 and rewards וִיקָ֣ר H3367 honour שַׂגִּ֔יא H7690 and great תְּקַבְּל֖וּן H6902 thereof ye shall receive מִן־ H4481 of קֳדָמָ֑י H6925 me לָהֵ֕ן H2006 if חֶלְמָ֥א H2493 me the dream וּפִשְׁרֵ֖הּ H6591 and the interpretation הַחֲוֹֽנִי׃ H2324 shew

⁷ עֲנ֥וֹ H6032 They answered תִנְיָנ֖וּת H8579 again וְאָמְרִ֑ין H560 and said מַלְכָּ֕א H4430 Let the king חֶלְמָ֛א H2493 the dream יֵאמַ֥ר H560 tell לְעַבְד֖וֹהִי H5649 his servants וּפִשְׁרָ֥ה H6591 the interpretation נְהַחֲוֵֽה׃ H2324 and we will shew

⁸ עָנֵ֤ה H6032 answered מַלְכָּא֙ H4430 The king וְאָמַ֔ר H560 and said מִן־ H4481 of יַצִּיב֙ H3330 certainty יָדַ֣ע H3046 know אֲנָ֔ה H576 I דִּ֥י H1768 for עִדָּנָ֖א H5732 the time אַנְתּ֣וּן H608 that ye זָבְנִ֑ין H2084 would gain כָּל־ H3606 all קֳבֵל֙ H6903 according to דִּ֣י H1768 forasmuch חֲזֵית֔וֹן H2370 ye see דִּ֥י H1768 forasmuch אַזְדָּ֖א H230 is gone מִנִּ֥י H4481 from מִלְּתָֽא׃ H4406 the thing

⁹ דִּ֣י H1768 that הֵן־ H2006 But if חֶלְמָא֩ H2493 unto me the dream לָ֨א H3809 ye will not תְהֽוֹדְעֻנַּ֜נִי H3046 make known חֲדָה־ H2298 one הִ֣יא H1932 it דָֽתְכ֗וֹן H1882 decree וּמִלָּ֨ה H4406 words כִדְבָ֤ה H3538 lying וּשְׁחִיתָה֙ H7844 and corrupt <הַזְמִנְתּוּן כ> (הִזְדְּמִנְתּוּן֙ H2164 prepare ק) לְמֵאמַ֣ר H560 to speak קָֽדָמַ֔י H6925 before עַ֛ד H5705 me till דִּ֥י H1768 forasmuch עִדָּנָ֖א H5732 the time יִשְׁתַּנֵּ֑א H8133 be changed לָהֵ֗ן H2006 if חֶלְמָא֙ H2493 me the dream אֱמַ֣רוּ H560 tell לִ֔י H0 וְֽאִנְדַּ֕ע H3046 and I shall know דִּ֥י H1768 its פִשְׁרֵ֖הּ H6591 me the interpretation תְּהַחֲוֻנַּֽנִי׃ H2324 ye can shew

¹⁰ עֲנ֨וֹ H6032 answered <כַשְׂדָּיֵא כ> (כַשְׂדָּאֵ֤י H3779 the Chaldeans ק) קֳדָם־ H6925 before מַלְכָּא֙ H4430 the king וְאָ֣מְרִ֔ין H560 and said לָֽא־ H3809 not אִיתַ֤י H383 There is אֲנָשׁ֙ H606 a man עַל־ H5922 upon יַבֶּשְׁתָּ֔א H3007 the earth דִּ֚י H1768 who מִלַּ֣ת H4406 matter מַלְכָּ֔א H4430 the king's יוּכַ֖ל H3202 that can לְהַחֲוָיָ֑ה H2324 shew כָּל־ H3606 at any קֳבֵ֗ל H6903 according to דִּ֚י H1768 who כָּל־ H3606 of any מֶ֙לֶךְ֙ H4430 king רַ֣ב H7229 lord וְשַׁלִּ֔יט H7990 nor ruler מִלָּ֤ה H4406 things כִדְנָה֙ H1836 such לָ֣א H3809 no שְׁאֵ֔ל H7593 asked לְכָל־ H3606 of any חַרְטֹּ֖ם H2749 magician וְאָשַׁ֥ף H826 or astrologer וְכַשְׂדָּֽי׃ H3779 The Chaldeans

¹¹ וּמִלְּתָ֨א H4406 thing דִֽי־ H1768 which מַלְכָּ֤ה H4430 that the king שָׁאֵל֙ H7593 requireth יַקִּירָ֔ה H3358 And a rare וְאָחֳרָן֙ H321 other לָ֣א H3809 none אִיתַ֔י H383 and there is דִּ֥י H1768 who יְחַוִּנַּ֖הּ H2324 that can shew קֳדָ֣ם H6925 it before מַלְכָּ֑א H4430 the king לָהֵ֣ן H3861 except אֱלָהִ֔ין H426 the gods דִּ֚י H1768 whose מְדָ֣רְה֔וֹן H4070 whose dwelling עִם־ H5974 with בִּשְׂרָ֖א H1321 flesh לָ֥א H3809 not אִיתֽוֹהִי׃ H383 is

¹² כָּל־ H3606 cause קֳבֵ֣ל H6903 For דְּנָ֔ה H1836 this מַלְכָּ֕א H4430 the king בְּנַ֖ס H1149 was angry וּקְצַ֣ף H7108 furious שַׂגִּ֑יא H7690 and very וַאֲמַר֙ H560 and commanded לְה֣וֹבָדָ֔ה H7 to destroy לְכֹ֖ל H3606 all חַכִּימֵ֥י H2445 the wise בָבֶֽל׃ H895 of Babylon

¹³ וְדָתָ֣א H1882 And the decree נֶפְקַ֔ת H5312 went forth וְחַכִּֽימַיָּ֖א H2445 that the wise מִֽתְקַטְּלִ֑ין H6992 should be slain וּבְע֛וֹ H1156 and they sought דָּנִיֵּ֥אל H1841 Daniel וְחַבְר֖וֹהִי H2269 and his fellows לְהִתְקְטָלָֽה׃ H6992 to be slain פ

¹⁵ עָנֵ֣ה H6032 He answered וְאָמַ֗ר H560 and said לְאַרְיוֹךְ֙ H746 to Arioch שַׁלִּיטָ֣א H7990 captain דִֽי־ H1768 forasmuch מַלְכָּ֔א H4430 the king's עַל־ H5922 For מָ֥ה H4101 what דָתָ֛א H1882 the decree מְהַחְצְפָ֖ה H2685 hasty מִן־ H4481 according קֳדָ֣ם H6925 from מַלְכָּ֑א H4430 the king אֱדַ֣יִן H116 Then מִלְּתָ֔א H4406 made the thing הוֹדַ֥ע H3046 known אַרְי֖וֹךְ H746 Arioch לְדָנִיֵּֽאל׃ H1841 to Daniel

¹⁶ וְדָ֣נִיֵּ֔אל H1841 Then Daniel עַ֖ל H5954 went in וּבְעָ֣ה H1156 and desired מִן־ H4481 of מַלְכָּ֑א H4430 the king דִּ֚י H1768 forasmuch זְמָ֣ן H2166 him time יִנְתֵּן־ H5415 that he would give לֵ֔הּ H0 וּפִשְׁרָ֖א H6591 the interpretation לְהַֽחֲוָיָ֥ה H2324 and that he would shew לְמַלְכָּֽא׃ H4430 the king פ

¹⁷ אֱדַ֥יִן H116 Then דָּֽנִיֵּ֖אל H1841 Daniel לְבַיְתֵ֣הּ H1005 to his house אֲזַ֑ל H236 went וְ֠לַחֲנַנְיָה H2608 to Hananiah מִֽישָׁאֵ֧ל H4333 Mishael וַעֲזַרְיָ֛ה H5839 and Azariah חַבְר֖וֹהִי H2269 his companions מִלְּתָ֥א H4406 and made the thing הוֹדַֽע׃ H3046 known

¹⁸ וְרַחֲמִ֗ין H7359 mercies לְמִבְעֵא֙ H1156 That they would desire מִן־ H4481 according קֳדָם֙ H6925 from אֱלָ֣הּ H426 the God שְׁמַיָּ֔א H8065 of heaven עַל־ H5922 concerning רָזָ֖ה H7328 secret דְּנָ֑ה H1836 this דִּ֣י H1768 so לָ֤א H3809 should not יְהֹֽבְדוּן֙ H7 perish דָּנִיֵּ֣אל H1841 that Daniel וְחַבְר֔וֹהִי H2269 and his fellows עִם־ H5974 with שְׁאָ֖ר H7606 the rest חַכִּימֵ֥י H2445 of the wise בָבֶֽל׃ H895 of Babylon

¹⁹ אֱדַ֗יִן H116 Then לְדָנִיֵּ֛אל H1841 unto Daniel בְּחֶזְוָ֥א H2376 vision דִֽי־ H1768 in לֵילְיָ֖א H3916 in a night רָזָ֣ה H7328 was the secret גֲלִ֑י H1541 revealed אֱדַ֙יִן֙ H116 Then דָּֽנִיֵּ֔אל H1841 Daniel בָּרִ֖ךְ H1289 blessed לֶאֱלָ֥הּ H426 the God שְׁמַיָּֽא׃ H8065 of heaven

²⁰ עָנֵ֤ה H6032 answered דָֽנִיֵּאל֙ H1841 Daniel וְאָמַ֔ר H560 and said לֶהֱוֵ֨א H1934 be שְׁמֵ֤הּ H8036 the name דִּֽי־ H1768 forasmuch אֱלָהָא֙ H426 of God מְבָרַ֔ךְ H1289 Blessed מִן־ H4481 for עָלְמָ֖א H5957 ever וְעַ֣ד־ H5705 until עָלְמָ֑א H5957 and ever דִּ֧י H1768 For חָכְמְתָ֛א H2452 for wisdom וּגְבוּרְתָ֖א H1370 and might דִּ֥י H1768 forasmuch לֵֽהּ־ H0 הִֽיא׃ H1932 are

²¹ וְ֠הוּא H1932 who מְהַשְׁנֵ֤א H8133 And he changeth עִדָּנַיָּא֙ H5732 the times וְזִמְנַיָּ֔א H2166 and the seasons מְהַעְדֵּ֥ה H5709 he removeth מַלְכִ֖ין H4430 kings וּמְהָקֵ֣ים H6966 and setteth up מַלְכִ֑ין H4430 kings יָהֵ֤ב H3052 he giveth חָכְמְתָא֙ H2452 wisdom לְחַכִּימִ֔ין H2445 unto the wise וּמַנְדְּעָ֖א H4486 and knowledge לְיָדְעֵ֥י H3046 to them that know בִינָֽה׃ H999 understanding

²² ה֛וּא H1932 who גָּלֵ֥א H1541 He revealeth עַמִּיקָתָ֖א H5994 the deep וּמְסַתְּרָתָ֑א H5642 and secret things יָדַע֙ H3046 he knoweth מָ֣ה H4101 what בַחֲשׁוֹכָ֔א H2816 in the darkness <וּנְהִירָא כ> (וּנְהֹורָ֖א H5094 light ק) עִמֵּ֥הּ H5974 with him שְׁרֵֽא׃ H8271 dwelleth

²³ לָ֣ךְ ׀ H0 אֱלָ֣הּ H426 thee O thou God אֲבָהָתִ֗י H2 of my fathers מְהוֹדֵ֤א H3029 thank וּמְשַׁבַּח֙ H7624 thee and praise אֲנָ֔ה H576 I דִּ֧י H1768 what חָכְמְתָ֛א H2452 me wisdom וּגְבוּרְתָ֖א H1370 and might יְהַ֣בְתְּ H3052 who hast given לִ֑י H0 וּכְעַ֤ן H3705 unto me now הֽוֹדַעְתַּ֙נִי֙ H3046 and hast made known דִּֽי־ H1768 what בְעֵ֣ינָא H1156 what we desired מִנָּ֔ךְ H4481 of thee דִּֽי־ H1768 what מִלַּ֥ת H4406 matter מַלְכָּ֖א H4430 unto us the king's הוֹדַעְתֶּֽנָא׃ H3046 for thou hast made known

²⁴ כָּל־ H3606 all קֳבֵ֣ל H6903 according to דְּנָ֗ה H1836 time דָּֽנִיֵּאל֙ H1841 Daniel עַ֣ל H5954 went in עַל־ H5922 unto אַרְי֔וֹךְ H746 Arioch דִּ֚י H1768 whom מַנִּ֣י H4483 had ordained מַלְכָּ֔א H4430 whom the king לְהוֹבָדָ֖ה H7 to destroy לְחַכִּימֵ֣י H2445 the wise בָבֶ֑ל H895 of Babylon אֲזַ֣ל ׀ H236 he went וְכֵ֣ן H3652 thus אֲמַר־ H560 and said לֵ֗הּ H0 לְחַכִּימֵ֤י H2445 the wise בָבֶל֙ H895 of Babylon אַל־ H409 not תְּהוֹבֵ֔ד H7 unto him Destroy הַעֵ֙לְנִי֙ H5954 bring me in קֳדָ֣ם H6925 before מַלְכָּ֔א H4430 the king וּפִשְׁרָ֖א H6591 the interpretation לְמַלְכָּ֥א H4430 unto the king אֲחַוֵּֽא׃ H2324 and I will shew ס

²⁵ אֱדַ֤יִן H116 Then אַרְיוֹךְ֙ H746 Arioch בְּהִתְבְּהָלָ֔ה H927 in haste הַנְעֵ֥ל H5954 brought in לְדָנִיֵּ֖אל H1841 Daniel קֳדָ֣ם H6925 before מַלְכָּ֑א H4430 the king וְכֵ֣ן H3652 thus אֲמַר־ H560 and said לֵ֗הּ H0 דִּֽי־ H1768 who הַשְׁכַּ֤חַת H7912 unto him I have found גְּבַר֙ H1400 a man מִן־ H4481 of בְּנֵ֤י H1123 child גָֽלוּתָא֙ H1547 captivity דִּ֣י H1768 who יְה֔וּד H3061 Judah דִּ֥י H1768 who פִשְׁרָ֖א H6591 the interpretation לְמַלְכָּ֥א H4430 unto the king יְהוֹדַֽע׃ H3046 that will make known

²⁶ עָנֵ֤ה H6032 answered מַלְכָּא֙ H4430 The king וְאָמַ֣ר H560 and said לְדָנִיֵּ֔אל H1841 to Daniel דִּ֥י H1768 whose שְׁמֵ֖הּ H8036 whose name בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּ֑ר H1096 Belteshazzar <הַאִיתַיִךְ כ> (הַֽאִיתָ֣ךְ H383 art thou ק) כָּהֵ֗ל H3546 thou able לְהוֹדָעֻתַ֛נִי H3046 to make known חֶלְמָ֥א H2493 unto me the dream דִֽי־ H1768 which חֲזֵ֖ית H2370 which I have seen וּפִשְׁרֵֽהּ׃ H6591 and the interpretation

²⁷ עָנֵ֧ה H6032 answered דָנִיֵּ֛אל H1841 Daniel קֳדָ֥ם H6925 in the presence מַלְכָּ֖א H4430 of the king וְאָמַ֑ר H560 and said רָזָה֙ H7328 The secret דִּֽי־ H1768 which מַלְכָּ֣א H4430 which the king שָׁאֵ֔ל H7593 hath demanded לָ֧א H3809 neither חַכִּימִ֣ין H2445 the wise אָֽשְׁפִ֗ין H826 the astrologers חַרְטֻמִּין֙ H2749 the magicians גָּזְרִ֔ין H1505 the soothsayers יָכְלִ֖ין H3202 are able לְהַֽחֲוָיָ֥ה H2324 shew לְמַלְכָּֽא׃ H4430 unto the king

²⁸ בְּרַ֡ם H1297 But אִיתַ֞י H383 there is אֱלָ֤הּ H426 a God בִּשְׁמַיָּא֙ H8065 in heaven גָּלֵ֣א H1541 that revealeth רָזִ֔ין H7328 secrets וְהוֹדַ֗ע H3046 and maketh known לְמַלְכָּא֙ H4430 to the king נְבֽוּכַדְנֶצַּ֔ר H5020 Nebuchadnezzar מָ֛ה H4101 what דִּ֥י H1768 who לֶהֱוֵ֖א H1934 shall be בְּאַחֲרִ֣ית H320 in the latter יוֹמַיָּ֑א H3118 days חֶלְמָ֨ךְ H2493 Thy dream וְחֶזְוֵ֥י H2376 and the visions רֵאשָׁ֛ךְ H7217 of thy head עַֽל־ H5922 upon מִשְׁכְּבָ֖ךְ H4903 thy bed דְּנָ֥ה H1836 are these הֽוּא׃ H1932 it פ

²⁹ <אַנְתָּה כ> (אַ֣נְתְּ H607 as for thee ק) מַלְכָּ֗א H4430 O king רַעְיוֹנָךְ֙ H7476 thy thoughts עַל־ H5922 upon מִשְׁכְּבָ֣ךְ H4903 thy bed סְלִ֔קוּ H5559 came מָ֛ה H4101 what דִּ֥י H1768 would לֶהֱוֵ֖א H1934 should come to pass אַחֲרֵ֣י H311 the future דְנָ֑ה H1836 time וְגָלֵ֧א H1541 and he that revealeth רָזַיָּ֛א H7328 secrets הוֹדְעָ֖ךְ H3046 maketh known מָה־ H4101 to thee what דִ֥י H1768 forasmuch לֶהֱוֵֽא׃ H1934 shall come to pass

³⁰ וַאֲנָ֗ה H576 But as for me לָ֤א H3809 is not בְחָכְמָה֙ H2452 to me for wisdom דִּֽי־ H1768 forasmuch אִיתַ֥י H383 that I have בִּי֙ H0 מִן־ H4481 more than כָּל־ H3606 any חַיַּיָּ֔א H2417 living רָזָ֥א H7328 secret דְנָ֖ה H1836 this גֱּלִ֣י H1541 revealed לִ֑י H0 לָהֵ֗ן H3861 but עַל־ H5922 that דִּבְרַת֙ H1701 for sakes דִּ֤י H1768 forasmuch פִשְׁרָא֙ H6591 the interpretation לְמַלְכָּ֣א H4430 to the king יְהוֹדְע֔וּן H3046 shall make known וְרַעְיוֹנֵ֥י H7476 the thoughts לִבְבָ֖ךְ H3825 of thy heart תִּנְדַּֽע׃ H3046 and that thou mightest know

³¹ <אַנְתָּה כ> (אַ֣נְתְּ H607 as for thee ק) מַלְכָּ֗א H4430 O king חָזֵ֤ה H2370 were looking הֲוַ֙יְתָ֙ H1934 become וַאֲל֨וּ H431 and behold צְלֵ֥ם H6755 image חַד֙ H2298 A single שַׂגִּ֔יא H7690 great צַלְמָ֨א H6755 image דִּכֵּ֥ן H1797 This רַ֛ב H7229 great וְזִיוֵ֥הּ H2122 whose brightness יַתִּ֖יר H3493 excellent קָאֵ֣ם H6966 stood לְקָבְלָ֑ךְ H6903 before וְרֵוֵ֖הּ H7299 thee and the form דְּחִֽיל׃ H1763 thereof terrible

³² ה֣וּא H1932 of that צַלְמָ֗א H6755 This image's רֵאשֵׁהּ֙ H7217 head דִּֽי־ H1768 forasmuch דְהַ֣ב H1722 gold טָ֔ב H2869 of fine חֲד֥וֹהִי H2306 his breast וּדְרָע֖וֹהִי H1872 and his arms דִּ֣י H1768 forasmuch כְסַ֑ף H3702 of silver מְע֥וֹהִי H4577 his belly וְיַרְכָתֵ֖הּ H3410 and his thighs דִּ֥י H1768 forasmuch נְחָֽשׁ׃ H5174 of brass

³³ שָׁק֖וֹהִי H8243 His legs דִּ֣י H1768 forasmuch פַרְזֶ֑ל H6523 of iron רַגְל֕וֹהִי H7271 his feet <מִנְּהֹון כ> (מִנְּהֵין֙ H4481 according ק) דִּ֣י H1768 forasmuch פַרְזֶ֔ל H6523 of iron <וּמִנְּהֹון כ> (וּמִנְּהֵ֖ין H4480 at ק) דִּ֥י H1768 forasmuch חֲסַֽף׃ H2635 of clay

³⁴ חָזֵ֣ה H2370 looking הֲוַ֗יְתָ H1934 continued עַ֠ד H5705 till דִּ֣י H1768 forasmuch הִתְגְּזֶ֤רֶת H1505 was cut out אֶ֙בֶן֙ H69 that a stone דִּי־ H1768 out לָ֣א H3809 without בִידַ֔יִן H3028 hands וּמְחָ֤ת H4223 which smote לְצַלְמָא֙ H6755 the image עַל־ H5922 upon רַגְל֔וֹהִי H7271 his feet דִּ֥י H1768 forasmuch פַרְזְלָ֖א H6523 of iron וְחַסְפָּ֑א H2635 and clay וְהַדֵּ֖קֶת H1855 to pieces הִמּֽוֹן׃ H1994 them

³⁵ בֵּאדַ֣יִן H116 Then דָּ֣קוּ H1855 were crushed כַחֲדָ֡ה H2298 together פַּרְזְלָא֩ H6523 was the iron חַסְפָּ֨א H2635 the clay נְחָשָׁ֜א H5174 the brass כַּסְפָּ֣א H3702 the silver וְדַהֲבָ֗א H1722 and the gold וַהֲווֹ֙ H1934 and became כְּע֣וּר H5784 like the chaff מִן־ H4481 of אִדְּרֵי־ H147 threshingfloors קַ֔יִט H7007 the summer וּנְשָׂ֤א H5376 away הִמּוֹן֙ H1994 them רוּחָ֔א H7308 and the wind וְכָל־ H3606 that אֲתַ֖ר H870 place לָא־ H3809 no הִשְׁתֲּכַ֣ח H7912 was found לְה֑וֹן H0 וְאַבְנָ֣א ׀ H69 for them and the stone דִּֽי־ H1768 that מְחָ֣ת H4223 that smote לְצַלְמָ֗א H6755 the image הֲוָ֛ת H1934 became לְט֥וּר H2906 mountain רַ֖ב H7229 a great וּמְלָ֥ת H4391 and filled כָּל־ H3606 the whole אַרְעָֽא׃ H772 earth

³⁶ דְּנָ֣ה H1836 This חֶלְמָ֔א H2493 the dream וּפִשְׁרֵ֖הּ H6591 the interpretation נֵאמַ֥ר H560 and we will tell קֳדָם־ H6925 thereof before מַלְכָּֽא׃ H4430 the king

³⁷ <אַנְתָּה כ> (אַ֣נְתְּ H607 as for thee ק) מַלְכָּ֔א H4430 O king מֶ֖לֶךְ H4430 a king מַלְכַיָּ֑א H4430 of kings דִּ֚י H1768 to whom אֱלָ֣הּ H426 for the God שְׁמַיָּ֔א H8065 of heaven מַלְכוּתָ֥א H4437 thee a kingdom חִסְנָ֛א H2632 power וְתָקְפָּ֥א H8632 and strength וִֽיקָרָ֖א H3367 and glory יְהַב־ H3052 hath given לָֽךְ׃ H0

³⁸ וּבְכָל־ H3606 And wheresoever דִּ֣י H1768 forasmuch <דָאֲרִין כ> (דָֽיְרִ֣ין H1753 dwell ק) בְּֽנֵי־ H1123 the children אֲ֠נָשָׁא H606 of men חֵיוַ֨ת H2423 the beasts בָּרָ֤א H1251 of the field וְעוֹף־ H5776 and the fowls שְׁמַיָּא֙ H8065 of the heaven יְהַ֣ב H3052 hath he given בִּידָ֔ךְ H3028 into thine hand וְהַשְׁלְטָ֖ךְ H7981 and hath made thee ruler בְּכָלְּה֑וֹן H3606 over them all <אַנְתָּה כ> (אַנְתְּ־ H607 Thou ה֔וּא H607 Thou ק) רֵאשָׁ֖ה H7217 this head דִּ֥י H1768 forasmuch דַהֲבָֽא׃ H1722 of gold

³⁹ וּבָתְרָ֗ךְ H870 And after תְּק֛וּם H6966 thee shall arise מַלְכ֥וּ H4437 kingdom אָחֳרִ֖י H317 another אֲרַ֣עא H772 inferior מִנָּ֑ךְ H4481 to thee וּמַלְכ֨וּ H4437 kingdom <תְלִיתָיָא כ> (תְלִיתָאָ֤ה H8523 third ק) אָחֳרִי֙ H317 and another דִּ֣י H1768 which נְחָשָׁ֔א H5174 of brass דִּ֥י H1768 which תִשְׁלַ֖ט H7981 which shall bear rule בְּכָל־ H3606 over all אַרְעָֽא׃ H772 the earth

⁴⁰ וּמַלְכוּ֙ H4437 kingdom <רְבִיעָיָה כ> (רְבִ֣יעָאָ֔ה H7244 fourth ק) תֶּהֱוֵ֥א H1934 shall be תַקִּיפָ֖ה H8624 strong כְּפַרְזְלָ֑א H6523 as iron כָּל־ H3606 all קֳבֵ֗ל H6903 and as דִּ֤י H1768 as פַרְזְלָא֙ H6523 forasmuch as iron מְהַדֵּ֤ק H1855 breaketh in pieces וְחָשֵׁל֙ H2827 and subdueth כֹּ֔לָּא H3606 all וּֽכְפַרְזְלָ֛א H6523 iron דִּֽי־ H1768 that מְרָעַ֥ע H7490 that breaketh כָּל־ H3606 all אִלֵּ֖ין H459 these תַּדִּ֥ק H1855 shall it break in pieces וְתֵרֹֽעַ׃ H7490 and bruise

⁴¹ וְדִֽי־ H1768 that חֲזַ֜יְתָה H2370 And whereas thou sawest רַגְלַיָּ֣א H7271 the feet וְאֶצְבְּעָתָ֗א H677 and toes <מִנְּהֹון כ> (מִנְּהֵ֞ן H4481 partly ק) חֲסַ֤ף H2635 clay דִּֽי־ H1768 forasmuch פֶחָר֙ H6353 of potters' <וּמִנְּהֹון כ> (וּמִנְּהֵ֣ין H4480 at ק) פַּרְזֶ֔ל H6523 of iron מַלְכ֤וּ H4437 the kingdom פְלִיגָה֙ H6386 divided תֶּהֱוֵ֔ה H1934 shall be וּמִן־ H4481 part נִצְבְּתָ֥א H5326 the strength דִ֥י H1768 forasmuch פַרְזְלָ֖א H6523 of the iron לֶֽהֱוֵא־ H1934 there shall be בַ֑הּ H0 כָּל־ H3606 all קֳבֵל֙ H6903 according to דִּ֣י H1768 forasmuch חֲזַ֔יְתָה H2370 thou sawest פַּ֨רְזְלָ֔א H6523 the iron מְעָרַ֖ב H6151 mixed בַּחֲסַ֥ף H2635 clay טִינָֽא׃ H2917 with miry

⁴² וְאֶצְבְּעָת֙ H677 And the toes רַגְלַיָּ֔א H7271 of the feet <מִנְּהֹון כ> (מִנְּהֵ֥ין H4481 and partly ק) פַּרְזֶ֖ל H6523 of iron <וּמִנְּהֹון כ> (וּמִנְּהֵ֣ין H4480 at ק) חֲסַ֑ף H2635 of clay מִן־ H4481 part קְצָ֤ת H7118 end מַלְכוּתָא֙ H4437 the kingdom תֶּהֱוֵ֣ה H1934 shall be תַקִּיפָ֔ה H8624 strong וּמִנַּ֖הּ H4481 and part תֶּהֱוֵ֥ה H1934 of it תְבִירָֽה׃ H8406 broken

⁴³ <דִי כ> (וְדִ֣י H1768 and whereas ק) חֲזַ֗יְתָ H2370 thou sawest פַּרְזְלָא֙ H6523 iron מְעָרַב֙ H6151 mixed בַּחֲסַ֣ף H2635 clay טִינָ֔א H2917 with miry מִתְעָרְבִ֤ין H6151 mixed לֶהֱוֹן֙ H1934 but they shall בִּזְרַ֣ע H2234 with the seed אֲנָשָׁ֔א H606 of men וְלָֽא־ H3809 not לֶהֱוֹ֥ן H1934 they will not דָּבְקִ֖ין H1693 cleave דְּנָ֣ה H1836 one עִם־ H5974 to דְּנָ֑ה H1836 another הֵֽא־ H1888 even כְדִ֣י H1768 And whereas פַרְזְלָ֔א H6523 as iron לָ֥א H3809 is not מִתְעָרַ֖ב H6151 combine עִם־ H5974 with חַסְפָּֽא׃ H2635 with clay

⁴⁴ וּֽבְיוֹמֵיה֞וֹן H3118 And in the days דִּ֧י H1768 which מַלְכַיָּ֣א H4430 kings אִנּ֗וּן H581 of these יְקִים֩ H6966 set up אֱלָ֨הּ H426 shall the God שְׁמַיָּ֤א H8065 of heaven מַלְכוּ֙ H4437 a kingdom דִּ֤י H1768 which לְעָלְמִין֙ H5957 for ever לָ֣א H3809 shall not תִתְחַבַּ֔ל H2255 be destroyed וּמַ֨לְכוּתָ֔ה H4437 and the kingdom לְעַ֥ם H5972 people אָחֳרָ֖ן H321 to other לָ֣א H3809 or even תִשְׁתְּבִ֑ק H7662 be left תַּדִּ֤ק H1855 it shall break in pieces וְתָסֵיף֙ H5487 and consume כָּל־ H3606 all אִלֵּ֣ין H459 these מַלְכְוָתָ֔א H4437 kingdoms וְהִ֖יא H1932 and it תְּק֥וּם H6966 shall stand לְעָלְמַיָּֽא׃ H5957 forever

⁴⁶ בֵּ֠אדַיִן H116 Then מַלְכָּ֤א H4430 the king נְבֽוּכַדְנֶצַּר֙ H5020 Nebuchadnezzar נְפַ֣ל H5308 fell עַל־ H5922 upon אַנְפּ֔וֹהִי H600 his face וּלְדָנִיֵּ֖אל H1841 Daniel סְגִ֑ד H5457 and worshipped וּמִנְחָה֙ H4504 an oblation וְנִ֣יחֹחִ֔ין H5208 and sweet odours אֲמַ֖ר H560 and commanded לְנַסָּ֥כָה H5260 that they should offer לֵֽהּ׃ H0

⁴⁷ עָנֵה֩ H6032 answered מַלְכָּ֨א H4430 The king לְדָנִיֵּ֜אל H1841 unto Daniel וְאָמַ֗ר H560 and said מִן־ H4481 Of קְשֹׁט֙ H7187 a truth דִּ֣י H1768 that אֱלָהֲכ֗וֹן H426 your God ה֣וּא H1932 is a אֱלָ֧הּ H426 a God אֱלָהִ֛ין H426 of gods וּמָרֵ֥א H4756 and a Lord מַלְכִ֖ין H4430 of kings וְגָלֵ֣ה H1541 and a revealer רָזִ֑ין H7328 of secrets דִּ֣י H1768 since יְכֵ֔לְתָּ H3202 seeing thou couldest לְמִגְלֵ֖א H1541 reveal רָזָ֥ה H7328 secret דְנָֽה׃ H1836 this

¹ נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֣ר H5020 Nebuchadnezzar מַלְכָּ֗א H4430 the king עֲבַד֙ H5648 made צְלֵ֣ם H6755 an image דִּֽי־ H1768 forasmuch דְהַ֔ב H1722 of gold רוּמֵהּ֙ H7314 whose height אַמִּ֣ין H521 cubits שִׁתִּ֔ין H8361 threescore פְּתָיֵ֖הּ H6613 the breadth אַמִּ֣ין H521 cubits שִׁ֑ת H8353 thereof six אֲקִימֵהּ֙ H6966 he set it up בְּבִקְעַ֣ת H1236 in the plain דּוּרָ֔א H1757 of Dura בִּמְדִינַ֖ת H4083 in the province בָּבֶֽל׃ H895 of Babylon

⁴ וְכָרוֹזָ֖א H3744 Then an herald קָרֵ֣א H7123 cried בְחָ֑יִל H2429 aloud לְכ֤וֹן H0 אָֽמְרִין֙ H560 To you it is commanded עַֽמְמַיָּ֔א H5972 O people אֻמַּיָּ֖א H524 nations וְלִשָּׁנַיָּֽא׃ H3961 and languages

⁵ בְּעִדָּנָ֡א H5732 at what time דִּֽי־ H1768 forasmuch תִשְׁמְע֡וּן H8086 ye hear קָ֣ל H7032 the sound קַרְנָ֣א H7162 of the cornet מַ֠שְׁרוֹקִיתָא H4953 flute <קִיתָרֹוס כ> (קַתְרֹ֨וס H7030 harp ק) סַבְּכָ֤א H5443 sackbut פְּסַנְתֵּרִין֙ H6460 psaltery סוּמְפֹּ֣נְיָ֔ה H5481 dulcimer וְכֹ֖ל H3606 and all זְנֵ֣י H2178 kinds זְמָרָ֑א H2170 of musick תִּפְּל֤וּן H5308 ye fall down וְתִסְגְּדוּן֙ H5457 and worship לְצֶ֣לֶם H6755 image דַּהֲבָ֔א H1722 the golden דִּ֥י H1768 forasmuch הֲקֵ֖ים H6966 hath set up נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֥ר H5020 that Nebuchadnezzar מַלְכָּֽא׃ H4430 the king וּמַן־ H4479 what דִּי־ H1768 forasmuch

⁶ לָ֥א H3809 not יִפֵּ֖ל H5308 down וְיִסְגֻּ֑ד H5457 and worshippeth בַּהּ־ H0 שַׁעֲתָ֣א H8160 shall the same hour יִתְרְמֵ֔א H7412 be cast לְגֽוֹא־ H1459 into the midst אַתּ֥וּן H861 furnace נוּרָ֖א H5135 fiery יָקִֽדְתָּֽא׃ H3345 of a burning

¹³ בֵּאדַ֤יִן H116 Then נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּר֙ H5020 Nebuchadnezzar בִּרְגַ֣ז H7266 in rage וַחֲמָ֔ה H2528 and fury אֲמַר֙ H560 commanded לְהַיְתָיָ֔ה H858 to bring לְשַׁדְרַ֥ךְ H7715 Shadrach מֵישַׁ֖ךְ H4336 Meshach וַעֲבֵ֣ד H0 נְג֑וֹ H5665 and Abednego בֵּאדַ֙יִן֙ H116 Then גֻּבְרַיָּ֣א H1400 men אִלֵּ֔ךְ H479 these הֵיתָ֖יוּ H858 they brought קֳדָ֥ם H6925 before מַלְכָּֽא׃ H4430 the king

¹⁴ עָנֵ֤ה H6032 spake נְבֻֽכַדְנֶצַּר֙ H5020 Nebuchadnezzar וְאָמַ֣ר H560 and said לְה֔וֹן H0 הַצְדָּ֕א H6656 unto them true שַׁדְרַ֥ךְ H7715 O Shadrach מֵישַׁ֖ךְ H4336 Meshach וַעֲבֵ֣ד H0 נְג֑וֹ H5665 and Abednego לֵֽאלָהַ֗י H426 my gods לָ֤א H3809 do not אִֽיתֵיכוֹן֙ H383 ye פָּֽלְחִ֔ין H6399 serve וּלְצֶ֧לֶם H6755 image דַּהֲבָ֛א H1722 the golden דִּ֥י H1768 forasmuch הֲקֵ֖ימֶת H6966 which I have set לָ֥א H3809 nor סָֽגְדִֽין׃ H5457 worship

¹⁶ עֲנ֗וֹ H6032 answered שַׁדְרַ֤ךְ H7715 Shadrach מֵישַׁךְ֙ H4336 Meshach וַעֲבֵ֣ד H0 נְג֔וֹ H5665 and Abednego וְאָמְרִ֖ין H560 and said לְמַלְכָּ֑א H4430 to the king נְבֽוּכַדְנֶצַּ֔ר H5020 O Nebuchadnezzar לָֽא־ H3809 not חַשְׁחִ֨ין H2818 careful אֲנַ֧חְנָה H586 we עַל־ H5922 thee in דְּנָ֛ה H1836 this פִּתְגָ֖ם H6600 matter לַהֲתָבוּתָֽךְ׃ H8421 to answer

¹⁷ הֵ֣ן H2006 If אִיתַ֗י H383 is אֱלָהַ֙נָא֙ H426 it be our God דִּֽי־ H1768 whom אֲנַ֣חְנָא H586 whom we פָֽלְחִ֔ין H6399 serve יָכִ֖ל H3202 able לְשֵׁיזָבוּתַ֑נָא H7804 to deliver מִן־ H4481 us from אַתּ֨וּן H861 furnace נוּרָ֧א H5135 fiery יָקִֽדְתָּ֛א H3345 the burning וּמִן־ H4481 out of יְדָ֥ךְ H3028 thine hand מַלְכָּ֖א H4430 O king יְשֵׁיזִֽב׃ H7804 he will deliver

¹⁹ בֵּאדַ֨יִן H116 Then נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֜ר H5020 was Nebuchadnezzar הִתְמְלִ֣י H4391 full חֱמָ֗א H2528 of fury וּצְלֵ֤ם H6755 and the form אַנְפּ֙וֹהִי֙ H600 of his visage <אֶשְׁתַּנּוּ כ> (אֶשְׁתַּנִּ֔י H8133 alter ק) עַל־ H5922 against שַׁדְרַ֥ךְ H7715 Shadrach מֵישַׁ֖ךְ H4336 Meshach וַעֲבֵ֣ד H0 נְג֑וֹ H5665 and Abednego עָנֵ֤ה H6032 he spake וְאָמַר֙ H560 and commanded לְמֵזֵ֣א H228 that they should heat לְאַתּוּנָ֔א H861 the furnace חַ֨ד־ H2298 one שִׁבְעָ֔ה H7655 seven times עַ֛ל H5922 more דִּ֥י H1768 than חֲזֵ֖ה H2370 it was wont לְמֵזְיֵֽהּ׃ H228 to be heated

²⁰ וּלְגֻבְרִ֤ין H1400 men גִּבָּֽרֵי־ H1401 mighty חַ֙יִל֙ H2429 the most דִּ֣י H1768 who בְחַיְלֵ֔הּ H2429 that in his army אֲמַר֙ H560 And he commanded לְכַפָּתָ֔ה H3729 to bind לְשַׁדְרַ֥ךְ H7715 Shadrach מֵישַׁ֖ךְ H4336 Meshach וַעֲבֵ֣ד H0 נְג֑וֹ H5665 and Abednego לְמִרְמֵ֕א H7412 to cast לְאַתּ֥וּן H861 furnace נוּרָ֖א H5135 fiery יָקִֽדְתָּֽא׃ H3345 into the burning

²¹ בֵּאדַ֜יִן H116 Then גֻּבְרַיָּ֣א H1400 men אִלֵּ֗ךְ H479 these כְּפִ֙תוּ֙ H3729 were bound בְּסַרְבָּלֵיהוֹן֙ H5622 in their coats <פַּטִּישֵׁיהֹון כ> (פַּטְּשֵׁיהֹ֔ון H6361 hose ק) וְכַרְבְּלָתְה֖וֹן H3737 and their hats וּלְבֻשֵׁיה֑וֹן H3831 and their garments וּרְמִ֕יו H7412 and were cast לְגֽוֹא־ H1459 into the midst אַתּ֥וּן H861 furnace נוּרָ֖א H5135 fiery יָקִֽדְתָּֽא׃ H3345 of the burning

²⁴ אֱדַ֙יִן֙ H116 Then נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֣ר H5020 Nebuchadnezzar מַלְכָּ֔א H4430 the king תְּוַ֖הּ H8429 was astonied וְקָ֣ם H6966 and rose up בְּהִתְבְּהָלָ֑ה H927 in haste עָנֵ֨ה H6032 spake וְאָמַ֜ר H560 and said לְהַדָּֽבְר֗וֹהִי H1907 unto his counsellors הֲלָא֩ H3809 Did not גֻבְרִ֨ין H1400 men תְּלָתָ֜א H8532 three רְמֵ֤ינָא H7412 we cast לְגוֹא־ H1459 into the midst נוּרָא֙ H5135 fiery מְכַפְּתִ֔ין H3729 bound עָנַ֤יִן H6032 answer וְאָמְרִין֙ H560 and said לְמַלְכָּ֔א H4430 unto the king יַצִּיבָ֖א H3330 TRUE מַלְכָּֽא׃ H4430 O king

²⁵ עָנֵ֣ה H6032 He answered וְאָמַ֗ר H560 and said הָֽא־ H1888 Lo אֲנָ֨ה H576 I חָזֵ֜ה H2370 see גֻּבְרִ֣ין H1400 men אַרְבְּעָ֗ה H703 four שְׁרַ֙יִן֙ H8271 loose מַהְלְכִ֣ין H1981 walking בְּגֽוֹא־ H1459 in the midst נוּרָ֔א H5135 of the fire וַחֲבָ֖ל H2257 hurt לָא־ H3809 no אִיתַ֣י H383 and they have בְּה֑וֹן H0 וְרֵוֵהּ֙ H7299 and the form דִּ֣י H1768 forasmuch <רְבִיעָיָא כ> (רְֽבִיעָאָ֔ה H7244 fourth ק) דָּמֵ֖ה H1821 is like לְבַר־ H1247 the Son אֱלָהִֽין׃ H426 of God ס

²⁶ בֵּאדַ֜יִן H116 Then קְרֵ֣ב H7127 came near נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֗ר H5020 Nebuchadnezzar לִתְרַע֮ H8651 to the mouth אַתּ֣וּן H861 furnace נוּרָ֣א H5135 fiery יָקִֽדְתָּא֒ H3345 of the burning עָנֵ֣ה H6032 spake וְאָמַ֗ר H560 and said שַׁדְרַ֨ךְ H7715 Shadrach מֵישַׁ֧ךְ H4336 Meshach וַעֲבֵד־ H0 נְג֛וֹ H5665 and Abednego עַבְד֛וֹהִי H5649 ye servants דִּֽי־ H1768 forasmuch אֱלָהָ֥א H426 God <עִלָּיָא כ> (עִלָּאָ֖ה H5943 high ק) פֻּ֣קוּ H5312 come forth וֶאֱת֑וֹ H858 and come בֵּאדַ֣יִן H116 Then נָֽפְקִ֗ין H5312 came forth שַׁדְרַ֥ךְ H7715 Shadrach מֵישַׁ֛ךְ H4336 Meshach וַעֲבֵ֥ד H0 נְג֖וֹ H5665 and Abednego מִן־ H4481 of גּ֥וֹא H1459 the midst נוּרָֽא׃ H5135 of the fire

²⁷ וּ֠מִֽתְכַּנְּשִׁין H3673 being gathered together אֲחַשְׁדַּרְפְּנַיָּ֞א H324 And the princes סִגְנַיָּ֣א H5460 governors וּפַחֲוָתָא֮ H6347 and captains וְהַדָּבְרֵ֣י H1907 counsellors מַלְכָּא֒ H4430 and the king's חָזַ֣יִן H2370 saw לְגֻבְרַיָּ֣א H1400 men אִלֵּ֡ךְ H479 these דִּי֩ H1768 forasmuch לָֽא־ H3809 had no שְׁלֵ֨ט H7981 power נוּרָ֜א H5135 the fire בְּגֶשְׁמְה֗וֹן H1655 upon whose bodies וּשְׂעַ֤ר H8177 was an hair רֵֽאשְׁהוֹן֙ H7217 of their head לָ֣א H3809 nor הִתְחָרַ֔ךְ H2761 singed וְסָרְבָּלֵיה֖וֹן H5622 were their coats לָ֣א H3809 neither שְׁנ֑וֹ H8133 changed וְרֵ֣יחַ H7382 the smell נ֔וּר H5135 of fire לָ֥א H3809 nor עֲדָ֖ת H5709 had passed בְּהֽוֹן׃ H0

²⁸ עָנֵ֨ה H6032 spake נְבֽוּכַדְנֶצַּ֜ר H5020 Nebuchadnezzar וְאָמַ֗ר H560 and said בְּרִ֤יךְ H1289 Blessed אֱלָהֲהוֹן֙ H426 the God דִּֽי־ H1768 who שַׁדְרַ֤ךְ H7715 of Shadrach מֵישַׁךְ֙ H4336 Meshach וַעֲבֵ֣ד H0 נְג֔וֹ H5665 and Abednego דִּֽי־ H1768 who שְׁלַ֤ח H7972 who hath sent מַלְאֲכֵהּ֙ H4398 his angel וְשֵׁיזִ֣ב H7804 and delivered לְעַבְד֔וֹהִי H5649 his servants דִּ֥י H1768 so הִתְרְחִ֖צוּ H7365 that trusted עֲל֑וֹהִי H5922 in him וּמִלַּ֤ת H4406 word מַלְכָּא֙ H4430 the king's שַׁנִּ֔יו H8133 and have changed וִיהַ֣בוּ H3052 and yielded <גֶשְׁמֵיהֹון כ> (גֶשְׁמְהֹ֗ון H1655 body ק) דִּ֠י H1768 who לָֽא־ H3809 that they might not יִפְלְח֤וּן H6399 serve וְלָֽא־ H3809 nor יִסְגְּדוּן֙ H5457 worship לְכָל־ H3606 any אֱלָ֔הּ H426 god לָהֵ֖ן H3861 except לֵאלָֽהֲהֽוֹן׃ H426 their own God

²⁹ וּמִנִּי֮ H4481 Therefore I שִׂ֣ים H7761 make טְעֵם֒ H2942 a decree דִּי֩ H1768 who כָל־ H3606 That every עַ֨ם H5972 people אֻמָּ֜ה H524 nation וְלִשָּׁ֗ן H3961 and language דִּֽי־ H1768 who יֵאמַ֤ר H560 which speak <שֵׁלָה כ> (שָׁלוּ֙ H7955 thing amiss ק) עַ֣ל H5922 against אֱלָהֲה֗וֹן H426 the God דִּֽי־ H1768 who שַׁדְרַ֤ךְ H7715 of Shadrach מֵישַׁךְ֙ H4336 Meshach וַעֲבֵ֣ד H0 נְג֔וֹא H5665 and Abednego הַדָּמִ֣ין H1917 in pieces יִתְעֲבֵ֔ד H5648 shall be cut וּבַיְתֵ֖הּ H1005 and their houses נְוָלִ֣י H5122 a dunghill יִשְׁתַּוֵּ֑ה H7739 shall be made כָּל־ H3606 any קֳבֵ֗ל H6903 according to דִּ֣י H1768 who לָ֤א H3809 no אִיתַי֙ H383 there is אֱלָ֣ה H426 God אָחֳרָ֔ן H321 other דִּֽי־ H1768 who יִכֻּ֥ל H3202 that can לְהַצָּלָ֖ה H5338 deliver כִּדְנָֽה׃ H1836 after this

⁴ אֲנָ֣ה H576 I נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֗ר H5020 Nebuchadnezzar שְׁלֵ֤ה H7954 at rest הֲוֵית֙ H1934 was בְּבֵיתִ֔י H1005 in mine house וְרַעְנַ֖ן H7487 and flourishing בְּהֵיכְלִֽי׃ H1965 in my palace

⁵ חֵ֥לֶם H2493 a dream חֲזֵ֖ית H2370 I saw וִֽידַחֲלִנַּ֑נִי H1763 which made me afraid וְהַרְהֹרִין֙ H2031 and the thoughts עַֽל־ H5922 upon מִשְׁכְּבִ֔י H4903 my bed וְחֶזְוֵ֥י H2376 and the visions רֵאשִׁ֖י H7217 of my head יְבַהֲלֻנַּֽנִי׃ H927 troubled

⁶ וּמִנִּי֙ H4481 I שִׂ֣ים H7761 made טְעֵ֔ם H2942 a decree לְהַנְעָלָ֣ה H5954 to bring קָֽדָמַ֔י H6925 before לְכֹ֖ל H3606 in all חַכִּימֵ֣י H2445 the wise בָבֶ֑ל H895 of Babylon דִּֽי־ H1768 forasmuch פְשַׁ֥ר H6591 unto me the interpretation חֶלְמָ֖א H2493 of the dream יְהֽוֹדְעֻנַּֽנִי׃ H3046 me that they might make known

⁷ בֵּאדַ֣יִן H116 Then <עָלֲלִין כ> (עָלִּ֗ין H5954 bring in ק) חַרְטֻמַיָּא֙ H2749 in the magicians אָֽשְׁפַיָּ֔א H826 the astrologers <כַּשְׂדָּיֵא כ> (כַּשְׂדָּאֵ֖י H3779 Chaldean ק) וְגָזְרַיָּ֑א H1505 and the soothsayers וְחֶלְמָ֗א H2493 the dream אָמַ֤ר H560 told אֲנָה֙ H576 and I קֳדָ֣מֵיה֔וֹן H6925 before וּפִשְׁרֵ֖הּ H6591 unto me the interpretation לָא־ H3809 them but they did not מְהוֹדְעִ֥ין H3046 make known לִֽי׃ H0

⁸ וְעַ֣ד H5705 But at אָחֳרֵ֡ין H318 the last עַל֩ H5954 came קָֽדָמַ֨י H6925 before me דָּנִיֵּ֜אל H1841 Daniel דִּֽי־ H1768 whose שְׁמֵ֤הּ H8036 whose name בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּר֙ H1096 Belteshazzar כְּשֻׁ֣ם H8036 according to the name אֱלָהִ֔י H426 of my god וְדִ֛י H1768 whom רֽוּחַ־ H7308 and in whom the spirit אֱלָהִ֥ין H426 gods קַדִּישִׁ֖ין H6922 of the holy בֵּ֑הּ H0 וְחֶלְמָ֖א H2493 the dream קָֽדָמ֥וֹהִי H6925 and before אַמְרֵֽת׃ H560 him I told

⁹ בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּר֮ H1096 O Belteshazzar רַ֣ב H7229 master חַרְטֻמַיָּא֒ H2749 of the magicians דִּ֣י ׀ H1768 since אֲנָ֣ה H576 because I יִדְעֵ֗ת H3046 know דִּ֠י H1768 which ר֣וּחַ H7308 that the spirit אֱלָהִ֤ין H426 gods קַדִּישִׁין֙ H6922 of the holy בָּ֔ךְ H0 וְכָל־ H3606 all רָ֖ז H7328 secret לָא־ H3809 or even אָנֵ֣ס H598 troubleth לָ֑ךְ H0 חֶזְוֵ֨י H2376 me the visions חֶלְמִ֧י H2493 of my dream דִֽי־ H1768 which חֲזֵ֛ית H2370 that I have seen וּפִשְׁרֵ֖הּ H6591 and the interpretation אֱמַֽר׃ H560 thee tell

¹⁰ וְחֶזְוֵ֥י H2376 Thus the visions רֵאשִׁ֖י H7217 of mine head עַֽל־ H5922 in מִשְׁכְּבִ֑י H4903 my bed חָזֵ֣ה H2370 was looking הֲוֵ֔ית H1934 become וַאֲל֥וּ H431 and behold אִילָ֛ן H363 a tree בְּג֥וֹא H1459 in the midst אַרְעָ֖א H772 of the earth וְרוּמֵ֥הּ H7314 and the height שַׂגִּֽיא׃ H7690 thereof great

¹¹ רְבָ֥ה H7236 grew אִֽילָנָ֖א H363 The tree וּתְקִ֑ף H8631 and was strong וְרוּמֵהּ֙ H7314 and the height יִמְטֵ֣א H4291 thereof reached לִשְׁמַיָּ֔א H8065 unto heaven וַחֲזוֹתֵ֖הּ H2379 and the sight לְס֥וֹף H5491 thereof to the end כָּל־ H3606 of all אַרְעָֽא׃ H772 the earth

¹² עָפְיֵ֤הּ H6074 The leaves שַׁפִּיר֙ H8209 thereof fair וְאִנְבֵּ֣הּ H4 and the fruit שַׂגִּ֔יא H7690 thereof much וּמָז֨וֹן H4203 and in it meat לְכֹ֖לָּא־ H3606 for all בֵ֑הּ H0 תְּחֹת֜וֹהִי H8460 under תַּטְלֵ֣ל ׀ H2927 had shadow חֵיוַ֣ת H2423 the beasts בָּרָ֗א H1251 of the field וּבְעַנְפ֙וֹהִי֙ H6056 in the boughs <יְדֻרוּן כ> (יְדוּרָן֙ H1753 dwell ק) צִפֲּרֵ֣י H6853 it and the fowls שְׁמַיָּ֔א H8065 of the heaven וּמִנֵּ֖הּ H4481 of it יִתְּזִ֥ין H2110 was fed כָּל־ H3606 thereof and all בִּשְׂרָֽא׃ H1321 flesh

¹³ חָזֵ֥ה H2370 was looking הֲוֵ֛ית H1934 in בְּחֶזְוֵ֥י H2376 in the visions רֵאשִׁ֖י H7217 of my head עַֽל־ H5922 upon מִשְׁכְּבִ֑י H4903 my bed וַאֲלוּ֙ H431 and behold עִ֣יר H5894 a watcher וְקַדִּ֔ישׁ H6922 and an holy one מִן־ H4481 from שְׁמַיָּ֖א H8065 heaven נָחִֽת׃ H5182 came down

¹⁴ קָרֵ֨א H7123 He cried בְחַ֜יִל H2429 aloud וְכֵ֣ן H3652 thus אָמַ֗ר H560 and said גֹּ֤דּוּ H1414 Hew down אִֽילָנָא֙ H363 the tree וְקַצִּ֣צוּ H7113 and cut off עַנְפ֔וֹהִי H6056 his branches אַתַּ֥רוּ H5426 shake off עָפְיֵ֖הּ H6074 his leaves וּבַדַּ֣רוּ H921 and scatter אִנְבֵּ֑הּ H4 his fruit תְּנֻ֤ד H5111 get away חֵֽיוְתָא֙ H2423 let the beasts מִן־ H4481 from תַּחְתּ֔וֹהִי H8479 under it וְצִפְּרַיָּ֖א H6853 and the fowls מִן־ H4481 from עַנְפֽוֹהִי׃ H6056 his branches

¹⁵ בְּרַ֨ם H1297 Nevertheless עִקַּ֤ר H6136 the stump שָׁרְשׁ֙וֹהִי֙ H8330 of his roots בְּאַרְעָ֣א H772 in the earth שְׁבֻ֔קוּ H7662 leave וּבֶֽאֱסוּר֙ H613 even with a band דִּֽי־ H1768 forasmuch פַרְזֶ֣ל H6523 of iron וּנְחָ֔שׁ H5174 and brass בְּדִתְאָ֖א H1883 in the tender grass דִּ֣י H1768 forasmuch בָרָ֑א H1251 of the field וּבְטַ֤ל H2920 with the dew שְׁמַיָּא֙ H8065 of heaven יִצְטַבַּ֔ע H6647 and let it be wet וְעִם־ H5974 with חֵיוְתָ֥א H2423 the beasts חֲלָקֵ֖הּ H2508 and his portion בַּעֲשַׂ֥ב H6211 in the grass אַרְעָֽא׃ H772 of the earth

¹⁶ לִבְבֵהּ֙ H3825 Let his heart מִן־ H4481 from <אֱנֹושָׁא כ> (אֲנָשָׁ֣א H606 man ק) יְשַׁנּ֔וֹן H8133 be changed וּלְבַ֥ב H3825 heart חֵיוָ֖ה H2423 and let a beast's יִתְיְהִ֣ב H3052 be given לֵ֑הּ H0 וְשִׁבְעָ֥ה H7655 unto him and let seven עִדָּנִ֖ין H5732 times יַחְלְפ֥וּן H2499 pass עֲלֽוֹהִי׃ H5922 over

¹⁷ בִּגְזֵרַ֤ת H1510 by the decree עִירִין֙ H5894 of the watchers פִּתְגָמָ֔א H6600 This matter וּמֵאמַ֥ר H3983 by the word קַדִּישִׁ֖ין H6922 of the holy ones שְׁאֵֽלְתָ֑א H7595 and the demand עַד־ H5705 to דִּבְרַ֡ת H1701 the intent דִּ֣י H1768 forasmuch יִנְדְּע֣וּן H3046 may know חַ֠יַּיָּא H2417 that the living דִּֽי־ H1768 forasmuch שַׁלִּ֨יט H7990 ruleth <עִלָּיָא כ> (עִלָּאָ֜ה H5943 high ק) בְּמַלְכ֣וּת H4437 in the kingdom <אֱנֹושָׁא כ> (אֲנָשָׁ֗א H606 of mankind ק) וּלְמַן־ H4479 it to whomsoever דִּ֤י H1768 forasmuch יִצְבֵּא֙ H6634 he will יִתְּנִנַּ֔הּ H5415 and giveth וּשְׁפַ֥ל H8215 it the basest אֲנָשִׁ֖ים H606 of men יְקִ֥ים H6966 and setteth up <עֲלַיַּהּ כ> (עֲלַֽהּ׃ H5921 and ק)

¹⁹ אֱדַ֨יִן H116 Then דָּֽנִיֵּ֜אל H1841 Daniel דִּֽי־ H1768 whose שְׁמֵ֣הּ H8036 whose name בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּ֗ר H1096 Belteshazzar אֶשְׁתּוֹמַם֙ H8075 was astonied כְּשָׁעָ֣ה H8160 hour חֲדָ֔ה H2298 for one וְרַעְיֹנֹ֖הִי H7476 and his thoughts יְבַהֲלֻנֵּ֑הּ H927 troubled עָנֵ֨ה H6032 spake מַלְכָּ֜א H4430 him The king וְאָמַ֗ר H560 and said בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּר֙ H1096 Belteshazzar חֶלְמָ֤א H2493 the dream וּפִשְׁרֵא֙ H6591 or the interpretation אַֽל־ H409 let not יְבַהֲלָ֔ךְ H927 thereof trouble עָנֵ֤ה H6032 answered בֵלְטְשַׁאצַּר֙ H1096 thee Belteshazzar וְאָמַ֔ר H560 and said <מָרְאִי כ> (מָרִ֕י H4756 lord ק) חֶלְמָ֥א H2493 the dream <לְשָׂנְאַיִךְ כ> (לְשָֽׂנְאָ֖ךְ H8131 hate ק) וּפִשְׁרֵ֥הּ H6591 thee and the interpretation <לְעָרַיִךְ כ> (לְעָרָֽךְ H6146 enemy ק)

²⁰ אִֽילָנָא֙ H363 The tree דִּ֣י H1768 which חֲזַ֔יְתָ H2370 that thou sawest דִּ֥י H1768 which רְבָ֖ה H7236 which grew וּתְקִ֑ף H8631 and was strong וְרוּמֵהּ֙ H7314 whose height יִמְטֵ֣א H4291 reached לִשְׁמַיָּ֔א H8065 unto the heaven וַחֲזוֹתֵ֖הּ H2379 and the sight לְכָל־ H3606 thereof to all אַרְעָֽא׃ H772 the earth

²⁴ דְּנָ֥ה H1836 This פִשְׁרָ֖א H6591 the interpretation מַלְכָּ֑א H4430 O king וּגְזֵרַ֤ת H1510 the decree <עִלָּיָא כ> (עִלָּאָה֙ H5943 high ק) הִ֔יא H1932 and this דִּ֥י H1768 which מְטָ֖ת H4291 which is come עַל־ H5922 upon <מַרְאִי כ> (מָרִ֥י H4756 lord ק) מַלְכָּֽא׃ H4430 the king

²⁷ לָהֵ֣ן H3861 Wherefore מַלְכָּ֗א H4430 O king מִלְכִּי֙ H4431 let my counsel יִשְׁפַּ֣ר H8232 be acceptable <עֲלַיִךְ כ> (עֲלָ֔ךְ H5921 and ק) <וַחֲטָיָךְ כ> (וַחֲטָאָךְ֙ H2408 sin ק) בְּצִדְקָ֣ה H6665 by righteousness פְרֻ֔ק H6562 and break off וַעֲוָיָתָ֖ךְ H5758 and thine iniquities בְּמִחַ֣ן H2604 by shewing mercy עֲנָ֑יִן H6033 to the poor הֵ֛ן H2006 if תֶּהֱוֵ֥א H1934 it may be אַרְכָ֖ה H754 a lengthening לִשְׁלֵוְתָֽךְ׃ H7963 of thy tranquillity

²⁹ לִקְצָ֥ת H7118 At the end יַרְחִ֖ין H3393 months תְּרֵֽי־ H8648 second עֲשַׂ֑ר H6236 ten עַל־ H5922 in הֵיכַ֧ל H1965 the palace מַלְכוּתָ֛א H4437 of the kingdom דִּ֥י H1768 forasmuch בָבֶ֖ל H895 of Babylon מְהַלֵּ֥ךְ H1981 was walking הֲוָֽה׃ H1934 become

³⁰ עָנֵ֤ה H6032 spake מַלְכָּא֙ H4430 The king וְאָמַ֔ר H560 and said הֲלָ֥א H3809 Is not דָא־ H1668 is this הִ֖יא H1932 not בָּבֶ֣ל H895 Babylon רַבְּתָ֑א H7229 great דִּֽי־ H1768 which אֲנָ֤ה H576 that I בֱנַיְתַהּ֙ H1124 have built לְבֵ֣ית H1005 for the house מַלְכ֔וּ H4437 of the kingdom בִּתְקַ֥ף H8632 by the might חִסְנִ֖י H2632 of my power וְלִיקָ֥ר H3367 and for the honour הַדְרִֽי׃ H1923 honour

³¹ ע֗וֹד H5751 While מִלְּתָא֙ H4406 the word בְּפֻ֣ם H6433 mouth מַלְכָּ֔א H4430 in the king's קָ֖ל H7032 a voice מִן־ H4481 from שְׁמַיָּ֣א H8065 heaven נְפַ֑ל H5308 there fell לָ֤ךְ H0 אָֽמְרִין֙ H560 to thee it is spoken נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֣ר H5020 Nebuchadnezzar מַלְכָּ֔א H4430 O king מַלְכוּתָ֖ה H4437 The kingdom עֲדָ֥ת H5709 is departed מִנָּֽךְ׃ H4481 from

³³ בַּהּ־ H0 שַׁעֲתָ֗א H8160 The same hour מִלְּתָא֮ H4406 was the thing סָ֣פַת H5487 fulfilled עַל־ H5922 upon נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּר֒ H5020 Nebuchadnezzar וּמִן־ H4481 from אֲנָשָׁ֣א H606 men טְרִ֔יד H2957 and he was driven וְעִשְׂבָּ֤א H6211 grass כְתוֹרִין֙ H8450 as oxen יֵאכֻ֔ל H399 and did eat וּמִטַּ֥ל H2920 with the dew שְׁמַיָּ֖א H8065 of heaven גִּשְׁמֵ֣הּ H1655 and his body יִצְטַבַּ֑ע H6647 was wet עַ֣ד H5705 till דִּ֥י H1768 forasmuch שַׂעְרֵ֛הּ H8177 his hairs כְּנִשְׁרִ֥ין H5403 like eagles' רְבָ֖ה H7236 were grown וְטִפְר֥וֹהִי H2953 and his nails כְצִפְּרִֽין׃ H6853 like birds'

³⁴ וְלִקְצָ֣ת H7118 And at the end יֽוֹמַיָּה֩ H3118 of the days אֲנָ֨ה H576 I נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֜ר H5020 Nebuchadnezzar עַיְנַ֣י ׀ H5870 mine eyes לִשְׁמַיָּ֣א H8065 unto heaven נִטְלֵ֗ת H5191 lifted up וּמַנְדְּעִי֙ H4486 and mine understanding עֲלַ֣י H5922 unto me יְת֔וּב H8421 returned <וּלְעִלָּיָא כ> (וּלְעִלָּאָה֙ H5943 high ק) בָּרְכֵ֔ת H1289 and I blessed וּלְחַ֥י H2417 him that liveth עָלְמָ֖א H5957 for ever שַׁבְּחֵ֣ת H7624 and I praised וְהַדְּרֵ֑ת H1922 and honoured דִּ֤י H1768 For שָׁלְטָנֵהּ֙ H7985 whose dominion שָׁלְטָ֣ן H7985 dominion עָלַ֔ם H5957 an everlasting וּמַלְכוּתֵ֖הּ H4437 and his kingdom עִם־ H5974 from דָּ֥ר H1859 generation וְדָֽר׃ H1859 to generation

³⁵ וְכָל־ H3606 And all <דָּאֲרֵי כ> (דָּיְרֵ֤י H1753 dwell ק) אַרְעָא֙ H772 of the earth כְּלָ֣ה H3809 as nothing חֲשִׁיבִ֔ין H2804 reputed וּֽכְמִצְבְּיֵ֗הּ H6634 according to his will עָבֵד֙ H5648 and he doeth בְּחֵ֣יל H2429 in the army שְׁמַיָּ֔א H8065 of heaven <וְדָאֲרֵי כ> (וְדָיְרֵ֖י H1753 dwell ק) אַרְעָ֑א H772 of the earth וְלָ֤א H3809 and none אִיתַי֙ H383 can דִּֽי־ H1768 can יְמַחֵ֣א H4223 stay בִידֵ֔הּ H3028 his hand וְיֵ֥אמַר H560 or say לֵ֖הּ H0 מָ֥ה H4101 unto him What עֲבַֽדְתְּ׃ H5648 doest

³⁶ בֵּהּ־ H0 זִמְנָ֞א H2166 At the same time מַנְדְּעִ֣י ׀ H4486 my reason יְת֣וּב H8421 returned עֲלַ֗י H5922 unto me וְלִיקַ֨ר H3367 and for the glory מַלְכוּתִ֜י H4437 of my kingdom הַדְרִ֤י H1923 mine honour וְזִוִי֙ H2122 and brightness יְת֣וּב H8421 returned עֲלַ֔י H5922 unto me וְלִ֕י H0 הַדָּֽבְרַ֥י H1907 and my counsellors וְרַבְרְבָנַ֖י H7261 and my lords יְבַע֑וֹן H1156 sought וְעַל־ H5922 unto me מַלְכוּתִ֣י H4437 in my kingdom הָתְקְנַ֔ת H8627 and I was established וּרְב֥וּ H7238 majesty יַתִּירָ֖ה H3493 and excellent ה֥וּסְפַת H3255 was added לִֽי׃ H0

³⁷ כְּעַ֞ן H3705 Now אֲנָ֣ה H576 I נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֗ר H5020 Nebuchadnezzar מְשַׁבַּ֨ח H7624 praise וּמְרוֹמֵ֤ם H7313 and extol וּמְהַדַּר֙ H1922 and honour לְמֶ֣לֶךְ H4430 the King שְׁמַיָּ֔א H8065 of heaven דִּ֤י H1768 who כָל־ H3606 all מַעֲבָד֙וֹהִי֙ H4567 whose works קְשֹׁ֔ט H7187 truth וְאֹרְחָתֵ֖הּ H735 and his ways דִּ֑ין H1780 judgment וְדִי֙ H1768 who מַהְלְכִ֣ין H1981 and those that walk בְּגֵוָ֔ה H1467 in pride יָכִ֖ל H3202 he is able לְהַשְׁפָּלָֽה׃ H8214 to abase פ

¹ בֵּלְשַׁאצַּ֣ר H1113 Belshazzar מַלְכָּ֗א H4430 the king עֲבַד֙ H5648 made לְחֶ֣ם H3900 feast רַ֔ב H7229 a great לְרַבְרְבָנ֖וֹהִי H7261 of his lords אֲלַ֑ף H506 to a thousand וְלָקֳבֵ֥ל H6903 before אַלְפָּ֖א H506 the thousand חַמְרָ֥א H2562 wine שָׁתֵֽה׃ H8355 and drank

² בֵּלְשַׁאצַּ֞ר H1113 Belshazzar אֲמַ֣ר ׀ H560 commanded בִּטְעֵ֣ם H2939 make to eat חַמְרָ֗א H2562 the wine לְהַיְתָיָה֙ H858 to bring לְמָאנֵי֙ H3984 vessels דַּהֲבָ֣א H1722 the golden וְכַסְפָּ֔א H3702 and silver דִּ֤י H1768 which הַנְפֵּק֙ H5312 had taken נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֣ר H5020 Nebuchadnezzar אֲב֔וּהִי H2 which his father מִן־ H4481 out of הֵיכְלָ֖א H1965 the temple דִּ֣י H1768 which בִירוּשְׁלֶ֑ם H3390 which in Jerusalem וְיִשְׁתּ֣וֹן H8355 might drink בְּה֗וֹן H0 מַלְכָּא֙ H4430 that the king וְרַבְרְבָנ֔וֹהִי H7261 and his princes שֵׁגְלָתֵ֖הּ H7695 his wives וּלְחֵנָתֵֽהּ׃ H3904 and his concubines

³ בֵּאדַ֗יִן H116 Then הַיְתִיו֙ H858 they brought מָאנֵ֣י H3984 vessels דַהֲבָ֔א H1722 the golden דִּ֣י H1768 which הַנְפִּ֗קוּ H5312 that were taken מִן־ H4481 out of הֵֽיכְלָ֛א H1965 the temple דִּֽי־ H1768 which בֵ֥ית H1005 of the house אֱלָהָ֖א H426 of God דִּ֣י H1768 which בִירֽוּשְׁלֶ֑ם H3390 which at Jerusalem וְאִשְׁתִּ֣יו H8355 drank בְּה֗וֹן H0 מַלְכָּא֙ H4430 and the king וְרַבְרְבָנ֔וֹהִי H7261 and his princes שֵׁגְלָתֵ֖הּ H7695 his wives וּלְחֵנָתֵֽהּ׃ H3904 and his concubines

⁴ אִשְׁתִּ֖יו H8355 They drank חַמְרָ֑א H2562 wine וְ֠שַׁבַּחוּ H7624 and praised לֵֽאלָהֵ֞י H426 the gods דַּהֲבָ֧א H1722 of gold וְכַסְפָּ֛א H3702 and of silver נְחָשָׁ֥א H5174 of brass פַרְזְלָ֖א H6523 of iron אָעָ֥א H636 of wood וְאַבְנָֽא׃ H69 and of stone

⁵ בַּהּ־ H0 שַׁעֲתָ֗ה H8160 In the same hour <נְפַקוּ כ> (נְפַ֙קָה֙ H5312 go ק) אֶצְבְּעָן֙ H677 fingers דִּ֣י H1768 forasmuch יַד־ H3028 hand אֱנָ֔שׁ H606 of a man's וְכָֽתְבָן֙ H3790 and wrote לָקֳבֵ֣ל H6903 over against נֶבְרַשְׁתָּ֔א H5043 the candlestick עַל־ H5922 upon גִּירָ֕א H1528 the plaister דִּֽי־ H1768 forasmuch כְתַ֥ל H3797 of the wall הֵיכְלָ֖א H1965 palace דִּ֣י H1768 forasmuch מַלְכָּ֑א H4430 of the king's וּמַלְכָּ֣א H4430 and the king חָזֵ֔ה H2370 saw פַּ֥ס H6447 the part יְדָ֖ה H3028 of the hand דִּ֥י H1768 did כָתְבָֽה׃ H3790 that wrote

⁶ אֱדַ֤יִן H116 Then מַלְכָּא֙ H4430 the king's זִיוֹ֣הִי H2122 countenance שְׁנ֔וֹהִי H8133 was changed וְרַעיֹנֹ֖הִי H7476 and his thoughts יְבַהֲלוּנֵּ֑הּ H927 troubled וְקִטְרֵ֤י H7001 him so that the joints חַרְצֵהּ֙ H2783 of his loins מִשְׁתָּרַ֔יִן H8271 were loosed וְאַ֨רְכֻבָּתֵ֔הּ H755 and his knees דָּ֥א H1668 one לְדָ֖א H1668 against another נָֽקְשָֽׁן׃ H5368 smote

⁷ קָרֵ֤א H7123 cried מַלְכָּא֙ H4430 The king בְּחַ֔יִל H2429 aloud לְהֶֽעָלָה֙ H5954 to bring לְאָ֣שְׁפַיָּ֔א H826 in the astrologers <כַּשְׂדָּיֵא כ> (כַּשְׂדָּאֵ֖י H3779 Chaldean ק) וְגָזְרַיָּ֑א H1505 and the soothsayers עָנֵ֨ה H6032 spake מַלְכָּ֜א H4430 the king וְאָמַ֣ר ׀ H560 and said לְחַכִּימֵ֣י H2445 to the wise בָבֶ֗ל H895 of Babylon דִּ֣י H1768 who כָל־ H3606 Any אֱ֠נָשׁ H606 man דִּֽי־ H1768 who יִקְרֵ֞ה H7123 shall read כְּתָבָ֣ה H3792 writing דְנָ֗ה H1836 this וּפִשְׁרֵהּ֙ H6591 me the interpretation יְחַוִּנַּ֔נִי H2324 and shew אַרְגְּוָנָ֣א H711 with scarlet יִלְבַּ֗שׁ H3848 thereof shall be clothed <וְהַמֹּונְכָא כ> (וְהַֽמְנִיכָ֤א H2002 chain ק) דִֽי־ H1768 who דַהֲבָא֙ H1722 of gold עַֽל־ H5922 about צַוְּארֵ֔הּ H6676 his neck וְתַלְתִּ֥י H8523 and shall be the third בְמַלְכוּתָ֖א H4437 in the kingdom יִשְׁלַֽט׃ H7981 ruler ס

⁸ אֱדַ֙יִן֙ H116 Then <עָלֲלִין כ> (עָֽלִּ֔ין H5954 bring in ק) כֹּ֖ל H3606 in all חַכִּימֵ֣י H2445 wise מַלְכָּ֑א H4430 the king's וְלָֽא־ H3809 not כָהֲלִ֤ין H3546 but they could כְּתָבָא֙ H3792 the writing לְמִקְרֵ֔א H7123 read <וּפִשְׁרָא כ> (וּפִשְׁרֵ֖הּ H6591 interpretation ק) לְהוֹדָעָ֥ה H3046 nor make known לְמַלְכָּֽא׃ H4430 to the king

⁹ אֱ֠דַיִן H116 Then מַלְכָּ֤א H4430 was king בֵלְשַׁאצַּר֙ H1113 Belshazzar שַׂגִּ֣יא H7690 greatly מִתְבָּהַ֔ל H927 troubled וְזִיוֹ֖הִי H2122 and his countenance שָׁנַ֣יִן H8133 was changed עֲל֑וֹהִי H5922 in him וְרַבְרְבָנ֖וֹהִי H7261 and his lords מִֽשְׁתַּבְּשִֽׁין׃ H7672 were astonied

¹⁰ מַלְכְּתָ֕א H4433 the queen לָקֳבֵ֨ל H6903 by reason מִלֵּ֤י H4406 of the words מַלְכָּא֙ H4430 of the king וְרַבְרְבָנ֔וֹהִי H7261 and his lords לְבֵ֥ית H1005 house מִשְׁתְּיָ֖א H4961 into the banquet <עַלֲלַת כ> (עַלַּ֑ת H5954 bring in ק) עֲנָ֨ת H6032 spake מַלְכְּתָ֜א H4433 the queen וַאֲמֶ֗רֶת H560 and said מַלְכָּא֙ H4430 O king לְעָלְמִ֣ין H5957 for ever חֱיִ֔י H2418 live אַֽל־ H409 let not יְבַהֲלוּךְ֙ H927 trouble רַעְיוֹנָ֔ךְ H7476 thy thoughts וְזִיוָ֖יךְ H2122 thee nor let thy countenance אַל־ H409 not יִשְׁתַּנּֽוֹ׃ H8133 be changed

¹¹ אִיתַ֨י H383 There is גְּבַ֜ר H1400 a man בְּמַלְכוּתָ֗ךְ H4437 in thy kingdom דִּ֠י H1768 whom ר֣וּחַ H7308 in whom the spirit אֱלָהִ֣ין H426 gods קַדִּישִׁין֮ H6922 of the holy בֵּהּ֒ H0 וּבְיוֹמֵ֣י H3118 and in the days אֲב֗וּךְ H2 of thy father נַהִיר֧וּ H5094 light וְשָׂכְלְתָנ֛וּ H7924 and understanding וְחָכְמָ֥ה H2452 and wisdom כְּחָכְמַת־ H2452 like the wisdom אֱלָהִ֖ין H426 of the gods הִשְׁתְּכַ֣חַת H7912 was found בֵּ֑הּ H0 וּמַלְכָּ֤א H4430 in him whom the king נְבֻֽכַדְנֶצַּר֙ H5020 Nebuchadnezzar אֲב֔וּךְ H2 thy father רַ֧ב H7229 master חַרְטֻמִּ֣ין H2749 of the magicians אָֽשְׁפִ֗ין H826 astrologers כַּשְׂדָּאִין֙ H3779 Chaldeans גָּזְרִ֔ין H1505 soothsayers הֲקִימֵ֖הּ H6966 made אֲב֥וּךְ H2 thy father מַלְכָּֽא׃ H4430 the king

¹³ בֵּאדַ֙יִן֙ H116 Then דָּֽנִיֵּ֔אל H1841 was Daniel הֻעַ֖ל H5954 brought in קֳדָ֣ם H6925 before מַלְכָּ֑א H4430 the king עָנֵ֨ה H6032 spake מַלְכָּ֜א H4430 the king וְאָמַ֣ר H560 and said לְדָנִיֵּ֗אל H1841 unto Daniel <אַנְתָּה כ> (אַנְתְּ־ H607 thou ה֤וּא H607 thou ק) דָנִיֵּאל֙ H1841 that Daniel דִּֽי־ H1768 who מִן־ H4481 which of בְּנֵ֤י H1123 the children גָלוּתָא֙ H1547 of the captivity דִּ֣י H1768 whom יְה֔וּד H3061 of Judah דִּ֥י H1768 whom הַיְתִ֛י H858 brought מַלְכָּ֥א H4430 whom the king אַ֖בִי H2 my father מִן־ H4481 out of יְהֽוּד׃ H3061 Judah

¹⁴ וְשִׁמְעֵ֣ת H8086 I have even heard <עֲלַיִךְ כ> (עֲלָ֔ךְ H5921 and ק) דִּ֛י H1768 that ר֥וּחַ H7308 of thee that the spirit אֱלָהִ֖ין H426 of the gods בָּ֑ךְ H0 וְנַהִיר֧וּ H5094 and light וְשָׂכְלְתָנ֛וּ H7924 and understanding וְחָכְמָ֥ה H2452 wisdom יַתִּירָ֖ה H3493 and excellent הִשְׁתְּכַ֥חַת H7912 is found בָּֽךְ׃ H0

¹⁵ וּכְעַ֞ן H3705 And now הֻעַ֣לּוּ H5954 have been brought קָֽדָמַ֗י H6925 in before חַכִּֽימַיָּא֙ H2445 the wise אָֽשְׁפַיָּ֔א H826 the astrologers דִּֽי־ H1768 forasmuch כְתָבָ֤ה H3792 writing דְנָה֙ H1836 this יִקְר֔וֹן H7123 me that they should read וּפִשְׁרֵ֖הּ H6591 unto me the interpretation לְהוֹדָעֻתַ֑נִי H3046 and make known וְלָֽא־ H3809 not כָהֲלִ֥ין H3546 thereof but they could פְּשַֽׁר־ H6591 the interpretation מִלְּתָ֖א H4406 of the thing לְהַחֲוָיָֽה׃ H2324 shew

¹⁶ וַאֲנָה֙ H576 And I שִׁמְעֵ֣ת H8086 have heard <עֲלַיִךְ כ> (עֲלָ֔ךְ H5921 and ק) דִּֽי־ H1768 forasmuch <תוּכַל כ> (תִיכּ֥וּל H3202 be able ק) פִּשְׁרִ֛ין H6591 interpretations לְמִפְשַׁ֖ר H6590 make וְקִטְרִ֣ין H7001 doubts לְמִשְׁרֵ֑א H8271 and dissolve כְּעַ֡ן H3705 now הֵן֩ H2006 if <תּוּכַל כ> (תִּכ֨וּל H3202 be able ק) כְּתָבָ֜א H3792 the writing לְמִקְרֵ֗א H7123 read וּפִשְׁרֵהּ֙ H6591 to me the interpretation לְהוֹדָ֣עֻתַ֔נִי H3046 and make known אַרְגְּוָנָ֣א H711 with scarlet תִלְבַּ֗שׁ H3848 thereof thou shalt be clothed <וְהַמֹּונְכָא כ> (וְהַֽמְנִיכָ֤א H2002 chain ק) דִֽי־ H1768 forasmuch דַהֲבָא֙ H1722 of gold עַֽל־ H5922 of thee צַוְּארָ֔ךְ H6676 thy neck וְתַלְתָּ֥א H8531 and shalt be the third בְמַלְכוּתָ֖א H4437 in the kingdom תִּשְׁלַֽט׃ H7981 ruler פ

¹⁷ בֵּאדַ֜יִן H116 Then עָנֵ֣ה H6032 answered דָנִיֵּ֗אל H1841 Daniel וְאָמַר֙ H560 and said קֳדָ֣ם H6925 before מַלְכָּ֔א H4430 the king מַתְּנָתָךְ֙ H4978 Let thy gifts לָ֣ךְ H0 לֶֽהֶוְיָ֔ן H1934 be וּנְבָ֥זְבְּיָתָ֖ךְ H5023 thy rewards לְאָחֳרָ֣ן H321 to another הַ֑ב H3052 to thyself and give בְּרַ֗ם H1297 yet כְּתָבָא֙ H3792 the writing אֶקְרֵ֣א H7123 I will read לְמַלְכָּ֔א H4430 unto the king וּפִשְׁרָ֖א H6591 to him the interpretation אֲהוֹדְעִנֵּֽהּ׃ H3046 and make known

¹⁸ <אַנְתָּה כ> (אַ֖נְתְּ H607 as for thee ק) מַלְכָּ֑א H4430 king אֱלָהָא֙ H426 God <עִלָּיָא כ> (עִלָּאָ֔ה H5943 high ק) מַלְכוּתָ֤א H4437 a kingdom וּרְבוּתָא֙ H7238 and majesty וִיקָרָ֣א H3367 and glory וְהַדְרָ֔ה H1923 and honour יְהַ֖ב H3052 gave לִנְבֻכַדְנֶצַּ֥ר H5020 Nebuchadnezzar אֲבֽוּךְ׃ H2 thy father

¹⁹ וּמִן־ H4481 And for רְבוּתָא֙ H7238 the majesty דִּ֣י H1768 which יְהַב־ H3052 that he gave לֵ֔הּ H0 כֹּ֣ל H3606 him all עַֽמְמַיָּ֗א H5972 people אֻמַיָּא֙ H524 nations וְלִשָּׁ֣נַיָּ֔א H3961 and languages הֲו֛וֹ H1934 become <זָאֲעִין כ> (זָיְעִ֥ין H2112 tremble ק) וְדָחֲלִ֖ין H1763 and feared מִן־ H4481 before קֳדָמ֑וֹהִי H6925 him דִּֽי־ H1768 whomever הֲוָ֨ה H1934 he צָבֵ֜א H6634 wished הֲוָ֣א H1934 he קָטֵ֗ל H6992 killed וְדִֽי־ H1768 and whomever הֲוָ֤ה H1934 he צָבֵא֙ H6634 wished הֲוָ֣ה H1934 he מַחֵ֔א H2418 spared וְדִֽי־ H1768 and whomever הֲוָ֤ה H1934 he צָבֵא֙ H6634 wished הֲוָ֣ה H1934 he מָרִ֔ים H7313 elevated וְדִֽי־ H1768 and whomever הֲוָ֥ה H1934 he צָבֵ֖א H6634 wished הֲוָ֥ה H1934 he מַשְׁפִּֽיל׃ H8214 humbled

²⁰ וּכְדִי֙ H1768 when רִ֣ם H7313 was lifted up לִבְבֵ֔הּ H3825 But when his heart וְרוּחֵ֖הּ H7308 and his mind תִּֽקְפַ֣ת H8631 hardened לַהֲזָדָ֑ה H2103 in pride הָנְחַת֙ H5182 he was deposed מִן־ H4481 from כָּרְסֵ֣א H3764 throne מַלְכוּתֵ֔הּ H4437 his kingly וִֽיקָרָ֖ה H3367 his glory הֶעְדִּ֥יוּ H5709 and they took מִנֵּֽהּ׃ H4481 from him

²¹ וּמִן־ H4481 from בְּנֵי֩ H1123 the sons אֲנָשָׁ֨א H606 of men טְרִ֜יד H2957 And he was driven וְלִבְבֵ֣הּ ׀ H3825 and his heart עִם־ H5974 like חֵיוְתָ֣א H2423 the beasts <שְׁוִי כ> (שַׁוִּ֗יְו H7739 make like ק) וְעִם־ H5974 with עֲרָֽדַיָּא֙ H6167 with the wild asses מְדוֹרֵ֔הּ H4070 and his dwelling עִשְׂבָּ֤א H6211 him with grass כְתוֹרִין֙ H8450 like oxen יְטַ֣עֲמוּנֵּ֔הּ H2939 they fed וּמִטַּ֥ל H2920 with the dew שְׁמַיָּ֖א H8065 of heaven גִּשְׁמֵ֣הּ H1655 and his body יִצְטַבַּ֑ע H6647 was wet עַ֣ד H5705 till דִּֽי־ H1768 forasmuch יְדַ֗ע H3046 he knew דִּֽי־ H1768 forasmuch שַׁלִּ֞יט H7990 ruled אֱלָהָ֤א H426 God <עִלָּיָא כ> (עִלָּאָה֙ H5943 high ק) בְּמַלְכ֣וּת H4437 in the kingdom אֲנָשָׁ֔א H606 of men וּלְמַן־ H4479 it whomsoever דִּ֥י H1768 forasmuch יִצְבֵּ֖ה H6634 he will יְהָקֵ֥ים H6966 and he appointeth <עֲלַיֵהּ כ> (עֲלַֽהּ׃ H5921 and ק)

²² <וְאַנְתָּה כ> (וְאַ֤נְתְּ H607 as for thee ק) בְּרֵהּ֙ H1247 his son בֵּלְשַׁאצַּ֔ר H1113 O Belshazzar לָ֥א H3809 hast not הַשְׁפֵּ֖לְתְּ H8214 humbled לִבְבָ֑ךְ H3825 thine heart כָּל־ H3606 all קֳבֵ֕ל H6903 though דִּ֥י H1768 even כָל־ H3606 all דְּנָ֖ה H1836 this יְדַֽעְתָּ׃ H3046 thou knewest

²³ וְעַ֣ל H5922 thyself against מָרֵֽא־ H4756 the Lord שְׁמַיָּ֣א ׀ H8065 of heaven הִתְרוֹמַ֡מְתָּ H7313 But hast lifted up וּלְמָֽאנַיָּ֨א H3984 the vessels דִֽי־ H1768 which בַיְתֵ֜הּ H1005 of his house הַיְתִ֣יו H858 and they have brought <קָדָמַיִךְ כ> (קָֽדָמָ֗ךְ H6925 before ק) <וְאַנְתָּה כ> (וְאַ֨נְתְּ H607 as for thee ק) <וְרַבְרְבָנַיִךְ כ> (וְרַבְרְבָנָ֜ךְ H7261 lord ק) שֵֽׁגְלָתָ֣ךְ H7695 thy wives וּלְחֵנָתָךְ֮ H3904 and thy concubines חַמְרָא֮ H2562 wine שָׁתַ֣יִן H8355 have drunk בְּהוֹן֒ H0 וְלֵֽאלָהֵ֣י H426 the gods כַסְפָּֽא־ H3702 of silver וְ֠דַהֲבָא H1722 and gold נְחָשָׁ֨א H5174 of brass פַרְזְלָ֜א H6523 iron אָעָ֣א H636 wood וְאַבְנָ֗א H69 and stone דִּ֠י H1768 whose לָֽא־ H3809 not חָזַ֧יִן H2370 which see וְלָא־ H3809 nor שָׁמְעִ֛ין H8086 hear וְלָ֥א H3809 nor יָדְעִ֖ין H3046 know שַׁבַּ֑חְתָּ H7624 in them and thou hast praised וְלֵֽאלָהָ֞א H426 and the God דִּֽי־ H1768 which נִשְׁמְתָ֥ךְ H5396 thy breath בִּידֵ֛הּ H3028 in whose hand וְכָל־ H3606 and whose all אֹרְחָתָ֥ךְ H735 thy ways לֵ֖הּ H0 לָ֥א H3809 hast thou not הַדַּֽרְתָּ׃ H1922 glorified

²⁴ בֵּאדַ֙יִן֙ H116 Then מִן־ H4481 from קֳדָמ֔וֹהִי H6925 him שְׁלִ֖יַחַ H7972 sent פַּסָּ֣א H6447 was the part דִֽי־ H1768 forasmuch יְדָ֑א H3028 of the hand וּכְתָבָ֥א H3792 writing דְנָ֖ה H1836 and this רְשִֽׁים׃ H7560 was written

²⁵ וּדְנָ֥ה H1836 And this כְתָבָ֖א H3792 the writing דִּ֣י H1768 that רְשִׁ֑ים H7560 that was written מְנֵ֥א H4484 MENE מְנֵ֖א H4484 MENE תְּקֵ֥ל H8625 TEKEL וּפַרְסִֽין׃ H6537 UPHARSIN

²⁶ דְּנָ֖ה H1836 This פְּשַֽׁר־ H6591 the interpretation מִלְּתָ֑א H4406 of the thing מְנֵ֕א H4484 MENE מְנָֽה־ H4483 hath numbered אֱלָהָ֥א H426 God מַלְכוּתָ֖ךְ H4437 thy kingdom וְהַשְׁלְמַֽהּ׃ H8000 and finished

²⁷ תְּקֵ֑ל H8625 TEKEL תְּקִ֥ילְתָּה H8625 Thou art weighed בְמֹֽאזַנְיָ֖א H3977 in the balances וְהִשְׁתְּכַ֥חַתְּ H7912 and art found חַסִּֽיר׃ H2627 wanting

²⁸ פְּרֵ֑ס H6537 PERES פְּרִיסַת֙ H6537 is divided מַלְכוּתָ֔ךְ H4437 Thy kingdom וִיהִיבַ֖ת H3052 and given לְמָדַ֥י H4076 to the Medes וּפָרָֽס׃ H6540 and Persians

²⁹ בֵּאדַ֣יִן ׀ H116 Then אֲמַ֣ר H560 commanded בֵּלְשַׁאצַּ֗ר H1113 Belshazzar וְהַלְבִּ֤ישׁוּ H3848 and they clothed לְדָֽנִיֵּאל֙ H1841 Daniel אַרְגְּוָנָ֔א H711 with scarlet <וְהַמֹּונְכָא כ> (וְהַֽמְנִיכָ֥א H2002 chain ק) דִֽי־ H1768 forasmuch דַהֲבָ֖א H1722 of gold עַֽל־ H5922 about צַוְּארֵ֑הּ H6676 his neck וְהַכְרִ֣זֽוּ H3745 and made a proclamation עֲל֔וֹהִי H5922 concerning דִּֽי־ H1768 that לֶהֱוֵ֥א H1934 him that he should be שַׁלִּ֛יט H7990 ruler תַּלְתָּ֖א H8531 the third בְּמַלְכוּתָֽא׃ H4437 in the kingdom

³⁰ בֵּ֚הּ H0 בְּלֵ֣ילְיָ֔א H3916 In that night קְטִ֕יל H6992 slain בֵּלְאשַׁצַּ֖ר H1113 was Belshazzar מַלְכָּ֥א H4430 the king <כַשְׂדָּיָא כ> (כַשְׂדָּאָֽה׃ H3779 Chaldean ק) פ

³¹ וְדָרְיָ֙וֶשׁ֙ H1868 And Darius <מָדָיָא כ> (מָֽדָאָ֔ה H4077 Median ק) קַבֵּ֖ל H6902 took מַלְכוּתָ֑א H4437 the kingdom כְּבַ֥ר H1247 old שְׁנִ֖ין H8140 years שִׁתִּ֥ין H8361 about threescore וְתַרְתֵּֽין׃ H8648 and two
