¹ וְשַׁ֣בְתִּֽי H7725 So I returned אֲנִ֗י H589 I וָאֶרְאֶה֙ H7200 and considered אֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 all הָ֣עֲשֻׁקִ֔ים H6217 all the oppressions אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 which נַעֲשִׂ֖ים H6213 that are done תַּ֣חַת H8478 under הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ H8121 under the sun וְהִנֵּ֣ה ׀ H2009 and behold דִּמְעַ֣ת H1832 and behold the tears הָעֲשֻׁקִ֗ים H6217 of oppression וְאֵ֤ין H369 had לָהֶם֙ H0 מְנַחֵ֔ם H5162 and they had no comforter וּמִיַּ֤ד H3027 and on the side עֹֽשְׁקֵיהֶם֙ H6231 of oppressed כֹּ֔חַ H3581 power וְאֵ֥ין H369 no לָהֶ֖ם H0 מְנַחֵֽם׃ H5162 but they had no comforter

² וְשַׁבֵּ֧חַ H7623 Wherefore I praised אֲנִ֛י H589 I אֶת־ H853 הַמֵּתִ֖ים H4191 the dead שֶׁכְּבָ֣ר H3528 which are already מֵ֑תוּ H4191 dead מִן־ H4480 more הַ֣חַיִּ֔ים H2416 more than the living אֲשֶׁ֛ר H834 who הֵ֥מָּה H1992 like חַיִּ֖ים H2416 alive עֲדֶֽנָה׃ H5728 which are yet

³ וְטוֹב֙ H2896 Yea better מִשְּׁנֵיהֶ֔ם H8147 than both אֵ֥ת H853 אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who עֲדֶ֖ן H5728 they which hath not yet לֹ֣א H3808 has never הָיָ֑ה H1961 existed אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 who לֹֽא־ H3808 has never רָאָה֙ H7200 been who hath not seen אֶת־ H853 הַמַּעֲשֶׂ֣ה H4639 work הָרָ֔ע H7451 the evil אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 who נַעֲשָׂ֖ה H6213 that is done תַּ֥חַת H8478 under הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃ H8121 under the sun

⁴ וְרָאִ֨יתִֽי H7200 Again I considered אֲנִ֜י H589 I אֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 every עָמָ֗ל H5999 all travail וְאֵת֙ H853 כָּל־ H3605 and every כִּשְׁר֣וֹן H3788 and every right הַֽמַּעֲשֶׂ֔ה H4639 work כִּ֛י H3588 for הִ֥יא H1931 he קִנְאַת־ H7068 is envied אִ֖ישׁ H376 that for this a man מֵרֵעֵ֑הוּ H7453 of his neighbour גַּם־ H1571 too זֶ֥ה H2088 This הֶ֖בֶל H1892 This also vanity וּרְע֥וּת H7469 and vexation רֽוּחַ׃ H7307 of spirit

⁵ הַכְּסִיל֙ H3684 The fool חֹבֵ֣ק H2263 together אֶת־ H853 יָדָ֔יו H3027 his hands וְאֹכֵ֖ל H398 and eateth אֶת־ H853 בְּשָׂרֽוֹ׃ H1320 his own flesh

⁶ ט֕וֹב H2896 Better מְלֹ֥א H4393 full כַ֖ף H3709 an handful נָ֑חַת H5183 quietness מִמְּלֹ֥א H4393 full חָפְנַ֛יִם H2651 than both the hands עָמָ֖ל H5999 travail וּרְע֥וּת H7469 and vexation רֽוּחַ׃ H7307 of spirit

⁷ וְשַׁ֧בְתִּי H7725 Then I returned אֲנִ֛י H589 I וָאֶרְאֶ֥ה H7200 and I saw הֶ֖בֶל H1892 vanity תַּ֥חַת H8478 under הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃ H8121 under the sun

¹¹ גַּ֛ם H1571 Again אִם־ H518 if יִשְׁכְּב֥וּ H7901 lie together שְׁנַ֖יִם H8147 if two וְחַ֣ם H2552 then they have heat לָהֶ֑ם H0 וּלְאֶחָ֖ד H259 but how can one אֵ֥יךְ H349 how יֵחָֽם׃ H3179 be warm

¹² וְאִֽם־ H518 and if יִתְקְפוֹ֙ H8630 prevail הָאֶחָ֔ד H259 And if one הַשְּׁנַ֖יִם H8147 against him two יַעַמְד֣וּ H5975 shall withstand נֶגְדּ֑וֹ H5048 him וְהַחוּט֙ H2339 cord הַֽמְשֻׁלָּ֔שׁ H8027 him and a threefold לֹ֥א H3808 is not בִמְהֵרָ֖ה H4120 is not quickly יִנָּתֵֽק׃ H5423 broken

¹³ ט֛וֹב H2896 Better יֶ֥לֶד H3206 child מִסְכֵּ֖ן H4542 a poor וְחָכָ֑ם H2450 and a wise מִמֶּ֤לֶךְ H4428 king זָקֵן֙ H2205 than an old וּכְסִ֔יל H3684 and foolish אֲשֶׁ֛ר H834 who לֹא־ H3808 no יָדַ֥ע H3045 who will לְהִזָּהֵ֖ר H2094 no more be admonished עֽוֹד׃ H5750 longer

¹⁴ כִּֽי־ H3588 though מִבֵּ֥ית H1004 court הָסוּרִ֖ים H612 band יָצָ֣א H3318 he cometh לִמְלֹ֑ךְ H4427 to reign כִּ֛י H3588 though גַּ֥ם H1571 even בְּמַלְכוּת֖וֹ H4438 in his kingdom נוֹלַ֥ד H3205 whereas also born רָֽשׁ׃ H7326 becometh poor

¹⁵ רָאִ֙יתִי֙ H7200 I considered אֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 all הַ֣חַיִּ֔ים H2416 all the living הַֽמְהַלְּכִ֖ים H1980 which walk תַּ֣חַת H8478 under הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ H8121 under the sun עִ֚ם H5973 to the side הַיֶּ֣לֶד H3206 child הַשֵּׁנִ֔י H8145 with the second אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 who יַעֲמֹ֖ד H5975 that shall stand up תַּחְתָּֽיו׃ H8478 under

¹⁶ אֵֽין־ H369 There קֵ֣ץ H7093 no end לְכָל־ H3605 to all הָעָ֗ם H5971 of all the people לְכֹ֤ל H3605 to all אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who הָיָה֙ H1961 become לִפְנֵיהֶ֔ם H6440 of all that have been before גַּ֥ם H1571 and even הָאַחֲרוֹנִ֖ים H314 them they also that come after לֹ֣א H3808 not יִשְׂמְחוּ־ H8055 shall not rejoice ב֑וֹ H0 כִּֽי־ H3588 for גַם־ H1571 too זֶ֥ה H2088 this הֶ֖בֶל H1892 in him Surely this also vanity וְרַעְי֥וֹן H7475 and vexation רֽוּחַ׃ H7307 of spirit

¹ שְׁמֹ֣ר H8104 Keep <רַגְלֶיךָ כ> (רַגְלְךָ֗ H7272 be able to endure ק) כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 you תֵּלֵךְ֙ H1980 go אֶל־ H413 to בֵּ֣ית H1004 to the house הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים H430 of God וְקָר֣וֹב H7138 and be more ready לִשְׁמֹ֔עַ H8085 to hear מִתֵּ֥ת H5414 than to give הַכְּסִילִ֖ים H3684 of fools זָ֑בַח H2077 the sacrifice כִּֽי־ H3588 for אֵינָ֥ם H369 for יוֹדְעִ֖ים H3045 for they consider לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת H6213 not that they do רָֽע׃ H7451 evil

² אַל־ H408 be not תְּבַהֵ֨ל H926 Be not rash עַל־ H5921 in פִּ֜יךָ H6310 with thy mouth וְלִבְּךָ֧ H3820 and let not thine heart אַל־ H408 not יְמַהֵ֛ר H4116 be hasty לְהוֹצִ֥יא H3318 to utter דָבָ֖ר H1697 thing לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 before הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים H430 God כִּ֣י H3588 For הָאֱלֹהִ֤ים H430 for God בַּשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ H8064 in heaven וְאַתָּ֣ה H859 you עַל־ H5921 are on הָאָ֔רֶץ H776 and thou upon earth עַֽל־ H5921 and כֵּ֛ן H3651 after that יִהְי֥וּ H1961 let דְבָרֶ֖יךָ H1697 therefore let thy words מְעַטִּֽים׃ H4592 be few

³ כִּ֛י H3588 for בָּ֥א H935 cometh הַחֲל֖וֹם H2472 For a dream בְּרֹ֣ב H7230 through the multitude עִנְיָ֑ן H6045 of business וְק֥וֹל H6963 voice כְּסִ֖יל H3684 and a fool's בְּרֹ֥ב H7230 by multitude דְּבָרִֽים׃ H1697 of words

⁴ כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ H834 what תִּדֹּ֨ר H5087 When thou vowest נֶ֜דֶר H5088 a vow לֵֽאלֹהִ֗ים H430 unto God אַל־ H408 not תְּאַחֵר֙ H309 defer לְשַׁלְּמ֔וֹ H7999 not to pay כִּ֛י H3588 for אֵ֥ין H369 no חֵ֖פֶץ H2656 it for no pleasure בַּכְּסִילִ֑ים H3684 in fools אֵ֥ת H853 אֲשֶׁר־ H834 what תִּדֹּ֖ר H5087 that which thou hast vowed שַׁלֵּֽם׃ H7999 pay

⁵ ט֖וֹב H2896 Better אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 after לֹֽא־ H3808 you should not תִדֹּ֑ר H5087 that thou shouldest not vow מִשֶּׁתִּדּ֖וֹר H5087 than that thou shouldest vow וְלֹ֥א H3808 and not תְשַׁלֵּֽם׃ H7999 and not pay

⁶ אַל־ H408 not תִּתֵּ֤ן H5414 Suffer אֶת־ H853 פִּ֙יךָ֙ H6310 not thy mouth לַחֲטִ֣יא H2398 to sin אֶת־ H853 בְּשָׂרֶ֔ךָ H1320 to cause thy flesh וְאַל־ H408 not תֹּאמַר֙ H559 neither say לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 thou before הַמַּלְאָ֔ךְ H4397 the angel כִּ֥י H3588 that it was שְׁגָגָ֖ה H7684 that it an error הִ֑יא H1931 he לָ֣מָּה H4100 Why יִקְצֹ֤ף H7107 be angry הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ H430 wherefore should God עַל־ H5921 account קוֹלֶ֔ךָ H6963 at thy voice וְחִבֵּ֖ל H2254 and destroy אֶת־ H853 מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה H4639 the work יָדֶֽיךָ׃ H3027 able

⁷ כִּ֣י H3588 Rather בְרֹ֤ב H7230 For in the multitude חֲלֹמוֹת֙ H2472 of dreams וַהֲבָלִ֔ים H1892 also vanities וּדְבָרִ֖ים H1697 words הַרְבֵּ֑ה H7235 and many כִּ֥י H3588 Rather אֶת־ H853 הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים H430 thou God יְרָֽא׃ H3372 but fear

⁸ אִם־ H518 If עֹ֣שֶׁק H6233 the oppression רָ֠שׁ H7326 of the poor וְגֵ֨זֶל H1499 and violent מִשְׁפָּ֤ט H4941 perverting of judgment וָצֶ֙דֶק֙ H6664 and justice תִּרְאֶ֣ה H7200 If thou seest בַמְּדִינָ֔ה H4082 in a province אַל־ H408 not תִּתְמַ֖הּ H8539 marvel עַל־ H5921 than they הַחֵ֑פֶץ H2656 not at the matter כִּ֣י H3588 one גָבֹ֜הַּ H1364 for higher מֵעַ֤ל H5921 over גָּבֹ֙הַּ֙ H1364 than the highest שֹׁמֵ֔ר H8104 regardeth וּגְבֹהִ֖ים H1364 and higher עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ H5921 over

⁹ וְיִתְר֥וֹן H3504 Moreover the profit אֶ֖רֶץ H776 of the earth בַּכֹּ֣ל H3605 all <הִיא כ> (ה֑וּא H1931 he ק) מֶ֥לֶךְ H4428 is for all the king לְשָׂדֶ֖ה H7704 by the field נֶעֱבָֽד׃ H5647 is served

¹⁰ אֹהֵ֥ב H157 He that loveth כֶּ֙סֶף֙ H3701 silver לֹא־ H3808 nor יִשְׂבַּ֣ע H7646 shall not be satisfied כֶּ֔סֶף H3701 with silver וּמִֽי־ H4310 who אֹהֵ֥ב H157 nor he that loveth בֶּהָמ֖וֹן H1995 abundance לֹ֣א H3808 nor תְבוּאָ֑ה H8393 with increase גַּם־ H1571 too זֶ֖ה H2088 This הָֽבֶל׃ H1892 this also vanity

¹¹ בִּרְבוֹת֙ H7235 increase הַטּוֹבָ֔ה H2896 When goods רַבּ֖וּ H7235 increase אוֹכְלֶ֑יהָ H398 that eat וּמַה־ H4100 what כִּשְׁרוֹן֙ H3788 them and what good לִבְעָלֶ֔יהָ H1167 to the owners כִּ֖י H3588 thereof אִם־ H518 thereof saving <רְאִיַּת כ> (רְא֥וּת H7200 advise self ק) עֵינָֽיו׃ H5869 affliction

¹² מְתוּקָה֙ H4966 sweet שְׁנַ֣ת H8142 The sleep הָעֹבֵ֔ד H5647 of a labouring man אִם־ H518 whether מְעַ֥ט H4592 little וְאִם־ H518 whether הַרְבֵּ֖ה H7235 or much יֹאכֵ֑ל H398 whether he eat וְהַשָּׂבָע֙ H7647 but the abundance לֶֽעָשִׁ֔יר H6223 of the rich אֵינֶ֛נּוּ H369 will not מַנִּ֥יחַֽ H3240 will not suffer ל֖וֹ H0 לִישֽׁוֹן׃ H3462 him to sleep

¹³ יֵ֚שׁ H3426 There is רָעָ֣ה H7451 evil חוֹלָ֔ה H2470 a sore רָאִ֖יתִי H7200 I have seen תַּ֣חַת H8478 under הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ H8121 under the sun עֹ֛שֶׁר H6239 riches שָׁמ֥וּר H8104 kept לִבְעָלָ֖יו H1167 for the owners לְרָעָתֽוֹ׃ H7451 thereof to their hurt

¹⁴ וְאָבַ֛ד H6 perish הָעֹ֥שֶׁר H6239 But those riches הַה֖וּא H1931 those בְּעִנְיַ֣ן H6045 travail רָ֑ע H7451 by evil וְהוֹלִ֣יד H3205 and he begetteth בֵּ֔ן H1121 a son וְאֵ֥ין H369 there בְּיָד֖וֹ H3027 in his hand מְאֽוּמָה׃ H3972 and nothing

¹⁵ כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 he יָצָא֙ H3318 As he came forth מִבֶּ֣טֶן H990 womb אִמּ֔וֹ H517 of his mother's עָר֛וֹם H6174 naked יָשׁ֥וּב H7725 shall he return לָלֶ֖כֶת H1980 carry כְּשֶׁבָּ֑א H935 as he came וּמְא֙וּמָה֙ H3972 nothing לֹא־ H3808 not יִשָּׂ֣א H5375 and shall take בַעֲמָל֔וֹ H5999 of his labour שֶׁיֹּלֵ֖ךְ H1980 carry בְּיָדֽוֹ׃ H3027 in his hand

¹⁶ וְגַם־ H1571 also זֹה֙ H2090 And this רָעָ֣ה H7451 evil חוֹלָ֔ה H2470 also a sore כָּל־ H3605 all עֻמַּ֥ת H5980 in all points שֶׁבָּ֖א H935 as he came כֵּ֣ן H3651 thus יֵלֵ֑ךְ H1980 die וּמַה־ H4100 what יִּתְר֣וֹן H3504 and what profit ל֔וֹ H0 שֶֽׁיַּעֲמֹ֖ל H5998 hath he that hath laboured לָרֽוּחַ׃ H7307 air

¹⁷ גַּ֥ם H1571 also כָּל־ H3605 Throughout יָמָ֖יו H3117 All his days בַּחֹ֣שֶׁךְ H2822 in darkness יֹאכֵ֑ל H398 also he eateth וְכָעַ֥ס H3708 vexation הַרְבֵּ֖ה H7235 and much וְחָלְי֥וֹ H2483 with his sickness וָקָֽצֶף׃ H7110 and wrath

¹⁸ הִנֵּ֞ה H2009 Here אֲשֶׁר־ H834 is what רָאִ֣יתִי H7200 Behold which I have seen אָ֗נִי H589 I ט֣וֹב H2896 good אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which יָפֶ֣ה H3303 and comely לֶֽאֶכוֹל־ H398 to eat וְ֠לִשְׁתּוֹת H8354 and to drink וְלִרְא֨וֹת H7200 and to enjoy טוֹבָ֜ה H2896 the good בְּכָל־ H3605 all עֲמָל֣וֹ ׀ H5999 of all his labour שֶׁיַּעֲמֹ֣ל H5998 that he taketh תַּֽחַת־ H8478 under הַשֶּׁ֗מֶשׁ H8121 under the sun מִסְפַּ֧ר H4557 all יְמֵי־ H3117 the days <חַיָּו כ> (חַיָּ֛יו H2416 age ק) אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which נָֽתַן־ H5414 giveth ל֥וֹ H0 הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים H430 which God כִּי־ H3588 for ה֥וּא H1931 this חֶלְקֽוֹ׃ H2506 him for it his portion

¹⁹ גַּ֣ם H1571 Furthermore כָּֽל־ H3605 every הָאָדָ֡ם H120 Every man אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 to whom נָֽתַן־ H5414 hath given ל֣וֹ H0 הָאֱלֹהִים֩ H430 also to whom God עֹ֨שֶׁר H6239 riches וּנְכָסִ֜ים H5233 and wealth וְהִשְׁלִיט֨וֹ H7980 and hath given him power לֶאֱכֹ֤ל H398 to eat מִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙ H4480 and to וְלָשֵׂ֣את H5375 thereof and to take אֶת־ H853 חֶלְק֔וֹ H2506 his portion וְלִשְׂמֹ֖חַ H8055 and to rejoice בַּעֲמָל֑וֹ H5999 in his labour זֹ֕ה H2090 this מַתַּ֥ת H4991 the gift אֱלֹהִ֖ים H430 of God הִֽיא׃ H1931 he

²⁰ כִּ֚י H3588 because לֹ֣א H3808 he will not הַרְבֵּ֔ה H7235 For he shall not much יִזְכֹּ֖ר H2142 remember אֶת־ H853 יְמֵ֣י H3117 the days חַיָּ֑יו H2416 of his life כִּ֧י H3588 because הָאֱלֹהִ֛ים H430 because God מַעֲנֶ֖ה H6031 answereth בְּשִׂמְחַ֥ת H8057 in the joy לִבּֽוֹ׃ H3820 of his heart

² אִ֣ישׁ H376 A man אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 to whom יִתֶּן־ H5414 hath given ל֣וֹ H0 הָאֱלֹהִ֡ים H430 to whom God עֹשֶׁר֩ H6239 riches וּנְכָסִ֨ים H5233 wealth וְכָב֜וֹד H3519 and honour וְֽאֵינֶ֨נּוּ H369 nothing חָסֵ֥ר H2638 so that he wanteth לְנַפְשׁ֣וֹ ׀ H5315 nothing for his soul מִכֹּ֣ל H3605 of all אֲשֶׁר־ H834 to whom יִתְאַוֶּ֗ה H183 of all that he desireth וְלֹֽא־ H3808 has not יַשְׁלִיטֶ֤נּוּ H7980 giveth him not power הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ H430 yet God לֶאֱכֹ֣ל H398 to eat מִמֶּ֔נּוּ H4480 at כִּ֛י H3588 for אִ֥ישׁ H376 A man נָכְרִ֖י H5237 A foreigner יֹֽאכֲלֶ֑נּוּ H398 eateth זֶ֥ה H2088 This הֶ֛בֶל H1892 it this vanity וָחֳלִ֥י H2483 disease רָ֖ע H7451 and it an evil הֽוּא׃ H1931 he

¹⁰ וּבְכֵ֡ן H3651 And so רָאִיתִי֩ H7200 I saw רְשָׁעִ֨ים H7563 the wicked קְבֻרִ֜ים H6912 buried וָבָ֗אוּ H935 who had come וּמִמְּק֤וֹם H4725 from the place קָדוֹשׁ֙ H6918 of the holy יְהַלֵּ֔כוּ H1980 and gone וְיִֽשְׁתַּכְּח֥וּ H7911 and they were forgotten בָעִ֖יר H5892 in the city אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 where כֵּן־ H3651 thus עָשׂ֑וּ H6213 where they had so done גַּם־ H1571 too זֶ֖ה H2088 This הָֽבֶל׃ H1892 this also vanity

¹¹ אֲשֶׁר֙ H834 Because אֵין־ H369 is not נַעֲשָׂ֣ה H6213 is not executed פִתְגָ֔ם H6599 Because sentence מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה H4639 work הָרָעָ֖ה H7451 against an evil מְהֵרָ֑ה H4120 speedily עַל־ H5921 and כֵּ֡ן H3651 after that מָלֵ֞א H4390 is fully set לֵ֧ב H3820 therefore the heart בְּֽנֵי־ H1121 of the sons הָאָדָ֛ם H120 of men בָּהֶ֖ם H0 לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת H6213 in them to do רָֽע׃ H7451 evil

¹² אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 Although חֹטֶ֗א H2398 Though a sinner עֹשֶׂ֥ה H6213 do רָ֛ע H7451 evil מְאַ֖ת H3967 an hundred times וּמַאֲרִ֣יךְ H748 and his be prolonged ל֑וֹ H0 כִּ֚י H3588 for גַּם־ H1571 again יוֹדֵ֣עַ H3045 yet surely I know אָ֔נִי H589 I אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 who יִהְיֶה־ H1961 become טּוֹב֙ H2896 that it shall be well לְיִרְאֵ֣י H3372 which fear הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים H430 God אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 who יִֽירְא֖וּ H3372 fear מִלְּפָנָֽיו׃ H6440 before

¹³ וְטוֹב֙ H2896 But it shall not be well לֹֽא־ H3808 not יִהְיֶ֣ה H1961 become לָֽרָשָׁ֔ע H7563 with the wicked וְלֹֽא־ H3808 and he will not יַאֲרִ֥יךְ H748 neither shall he prolong יָמִ֖ים H3117 days כַּצֵּ֑ל H6738 as a shadow אֲשֶׁ֛ר H834 because אֵינֶ֥נּוּ H369 else יָרֵ֖א H3373 because he feareth מִלִּפְנֵ֥י H6440 not before אֱלֹהִֽים׃ H430 God

¹⁴ יֶשׁ־ H3426 There is הֶבֶל֮ H1892 a vanity אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 which נַעֲשָׂ֣ה H6213 which is done עַל־ H5921 on הָאָרֶץ֒ H776 upon the earth אֲשֶׁ֣ר ׀ H834 to whom יֵ֣שׁ H3426 again there be צַדִּיקִ֗ים H6662 that there be just אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 which מַגִּ֤יעַ H5060 unto whom it happeneth אֲלֵהֶם֙ H413 about כְּמַעֲשֵׂ֣ה H4639 according to the work הָרְשָׁעִ֔ים H7563 of the wicked וְיֵ֣שׁ H3426 there רְשָׁעִ֔ים H7563 wicked שֶׁמַּגִּ֥יעַ H5060 to whom it happeneth אֲלֵהֶ֖ם H413 about כְּמַעֲשֵׂ֣ה H4639 according to the work הַצַּדִּיקִ֑ים H6662 of the righteous אָמַ֕רְתִּי H559 I said שֶׁגַּם־ H1571 that this also זֶ֖ה H2088 this הָֽבֶל׃ H1892 vanity

¹⁶ כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 which נָתַ֤תִּי H5414 When I applied אֶת־ H853 לִבִּי֙ H3820 mine heart לָדַ֣עַת H3045 to know חָכְמָ֔ה H2451 wisdom וְלִרְאוֹת֙ H7200 and to see אֶת־ H853 הָ֣עִנְיָ֔ן H6045 the business אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 which נַעֲשָׂ֖ה H6213 that is done עַל־ H5921 on הָאָ֑רֶץ H776 upon the earth כִּ֣י H3588 though גַ֤ם H1571 בַּיּוֹם֙ H3117 (for also neither day וּבַלַּ֔יְלָה H3915 nor night שֵׁנָ֕ה H8142 sleep בְּעֵינָ֖יו H5869 affliction אֵינֶ֥נּוּ H369 one רֹאֶֽה׃ H7200 seeth

¹⁷ וְרָאִיתִי֮ H7200 Then I beheld אֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 every מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה H4639 all the work הָאֱלֹהִים֒ H430 of God כִּי֩ H3588 for לֹ֨א H3808 not יוּכַ֜ל H3201 cannot הָאָדָ֗ם H120 that a man לִמְצוֹא֙ H4672 find out אֶת־ H853 הַֽמַּעֲשֶׂה֙ H4639 the work אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 because נַעֲשָׂ֣ה H6213 that is done תַֽחַת־ H8478 under הַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ H8121 under the sun בְּ֠שֶׁל H7945 though אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 which יַעֲמֹ֧ל H5998 labour הָאָדָ֛ם H120 a man לְבַקֵּ֖שׁ H1245 to seek out וְלֹ֣א H3808 he will not יִמְצָ֑א H4672 yet he shall not find וְגַ֨ם H1571 again אִם־ H518 and though יֹאמַ֤ר H559 think הֶֽחָכָם֙ H2450 yea further though a wise לָדַ֔עַת H3045 to know לֹ֥א H3808 shall he יוּכַ֖ל H3201 yet shall he not be able לִמְצֹֽא׃ H4672 to find

¹ כִּ֣י H3588 for אֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 all זֶ֞ה H2088 this נָתַ֤תִּי H5414 For all this I considered אֶל־ H413 to לִבִּי֙ H3820 in my heart וְלָב֣וּר H952 even to declare אֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 anything זֶ֔ה H2088 this אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 it הַצַּדִּיקִ֧ים H6662 all this that the righteous וְהַחֲכָמִ֛ים H2450 and the wise וַעֲבָדֵיהֶ֖ם H5652 and their works בְּיַ֣ד H3027 in the hand הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים H430 of God גַּֽם־ H1571 either אַהֲבָ֣ה H160 love גַם־ H1571 or שִׂנְאָ֗ה H8135 or hatred אֵ֤ין H369 does not יוֹדֵ֙עַ֙ H3045 knoweth הָֽאָדָ֔ם H120 no man הַכֹּ֖ל H3605 anything לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ H6440 all before

² הַכֹּ֞ל H3605 for all כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 and to him that לַכֹּ֗ל H3605 for all מִקְרֶ֨ה H4745 event אֶחָ֜ד H259 All alike to all one לַצַּדִּ֤יק H6662 to the righteous וְלָרָשָׁע֙ H7563 and to the wicked לַטּוֹב֙ H2896 to the good וְלַטָּה֣וֹר H2889 and to the clean וְלַטָּמֵ֔א H2931 and to the unclean וְלַזֹּבֵ֔חַ H2076 to him that sacrificeth וְלַאֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 who אֵינֶ֣נּוּ H369 else זֹבֵ֑חַ H2076 sacrificeth כַּטּוֹב֙ H2896 not as the good כַּֽחֹטֶ֔א H2398 so the sinner הַנִּשְׁבָּ֕ע H7650 he that sweareth כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 who שְׁבוּעָ֥ה H7621 an oath יָרֵֽא׃ H3372 is afraid

³ זֶ֣ה ׀ H2088 This רָ֗ע H7451 This an evil בְּכֹ֤ל H3605 all אֲשֶֽׁר־ H834 is נַעֲשָׂה֙ H6213 among all that are done תַּ֣חַת H8478 under הַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ H8121 under the sun כִּֽי־ H3588 for מִקְרֶ֥ה H4745 event אֶחָ֖ד H259 that one לַכֹּ֑ל H3605 for all וְגַ֣ם H1571 Furthermore לֵ֣ב H3820 unto all yea also the heart בְּֽנֵי־ H1121 of the sons הָ֠אָדָם H120 of men מָלֵא־ H4390 is full רָ֨ע H7451 of evil וְהוֹלֵל֤וֹת H1947 and madness בִּלְבָבָם֙ H3824 in their heart בְּחַיֵּיהֶ֔ם H2416 while they live וְאַחֲרָ֖יו H310 and after אֶל־ H413 to הַמֵּתִֽים׃ H4191 that to the dead

⁴ כִּי־ H3588 surely מִי֙ H4310 For אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 after <יִבָּחֵר כ> (יְחֻבַּ֔ר H977 acceptable ק) אֶ֥ל H413 with כָּל־ H3605 all הַחַיִּ֖ים H2416 to all the living יֵ֣שׁ H3426 to him that is בִּטָּח֑וֹן H986 there is hope כִּֽי־ H3588 surely לְכֶ֤לֶב H3611 dog חַי֙ H2416 for a living ה֣וּא H1931 he ט֔וֹב H2896 is better מִן־ H4480 than הָאַרְיֵ֖ה H738 lion הַמֵּֽת׃ H4191 than a dead

⁵ כִּ֧י H3588 For הַֽחַיִּ֛ים H2416 For the living יוֹדְעִ֖ים H3045 know שֶׁיָּמֻ֑תוּ H4191 that they shall die וְהַמֵּתִ֞ים H4191 but the dead אֵינָ֧ם H369 nor יוֹדְעִ֣ים H3045 know מְא֗וּמָה H3972 not any thing וְאֵֽין־ H369 have ע֤וֹד H5750 any לָהֶם֙ H0 שָׂכָ֔ר H7939 neither have they any more a reward כִּ֥י H3588 for נִשְׁכַּ֖ח H7911 of them is forgotten זִכְרָֽם׃ H2143 for the memory

⁶ גַּ֣ם H1571 Indeed אַהֲבָתָ֧ם H160 Also their love גַּם־ H1571 Indeed שִׂנְאָתָ֛ם H8135 and their hatred גַּם־ H1571 Indeed קִנְאָתָ֖ם H7068 and their envy כְּבָ֣ר H3528 is now אָבָ֑דָה H6 perished וְחֵ֨לֶק H2506 neither have they any more a portion אֵין־ H369 will no לָהֶ֥ם H1992 like עוֹד֙ H5750 longer לְעוֹלָ֔ם H5769 for ever בְּכֹ֥ל H3605 all אֲשֶֽׁר־ H834 is נַעֲשָׂ֖ה H6213 in any that is done תַּ֥חַת H8478 under הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃ H8121 under the sun

⁷ לֵ֣ךְ H1980 Go אֱכֹ֤ל H398 eat בְּשִׂמְחָה֙ H8057 with joy לַחְמֶ֔ךָ H3899 thy bread וּֽשֲׁתֵ֥ה H8354 and drink בְלֶב־ H3820 heart ט֖וֹב H2896 with a merry יֵינֶ֑ךָ H3196 thy wine כִּ֣י H3588 for כְבָ֔ר H3528 now רָצָ֥ה H7521 accepteth הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים H430 for God אֶֽת־ H854 for מַעֲשֶֽׂיךָ׃ H4639 thy works

⁸ בְּכָל־ H3605 all עֵ֕ת H6256 be always יִהְי֥וּ H1961 Let בְגָדֶ֖יךָ H899 Let thy garments לְבָנִ֑ים H3836 white וְשֶׁ֖מֶן H8081 no ointment עַל־ H5921 on רֹאשְׁךָ֥ H7218 and let thy head אַל־ H408 nay יֶחְסָֽר׃ H2637 lack

¹⁰ כֹּ֠ל H3605 all manner אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 after תִּמְצָ֧א H4672 findeth יָֽדְךָ֛ H3027 Whatsoever thy hand לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת H6213 to do בְּכֹחֲךָ֖ H3581 with thy might עֲשֵׂ֑ה H6213 do כִּי֩ H3588 for אֵ֨ין H369 there מַעֲשֶׂ֤ה H4639 for no work וְחֶשְׁבּוֹן֙ H2808 nor device וְדַ֣עַת H1847 nor knowledge וְחָכְמָ֔ה H2451 nor wisdom בִּשְׁא֕וֹל H7585 in the grave אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 after אַתָּ֖ה H859 you הֹלֵ֥ךְ H1980 whither thou goest שָֽׁמָּה׃ H8033 in it ס

¹¹ שַׁ֜בְתִּי H7725 I returned וְרָאֹ֣ה H7200 and saw תַֽחַת־ H8478 under הַשֶּׁ֗מֶשׁ H8121 under the sun כִּ֣י H3588 for לֹא֩ H3808 is not לַקַּלִּ֨ים H7031 not to the swift הַמֵּר֜וֹץ H4793 that the race וְלֹ֧א H3808 is not לַגִּבּוֹרִ֣ים H1368 to the strong הַמִּלְחָמָ֗ה H4421 nor the battle וְ֠גַם H1571 again לֹ֣א H3808 not לַחֲכָמִ֥ים H2450 to the wise לֶ֙חֶם֙ H3899 neither yet bread וְגַ֨ם H1571 again לֹ֤א H3808 not לַנְּבֹנִים֙ H995 to men of understanding עֹ֔שֶׁר H6239 nor yet riches וְגַ֛ם H1571 again לֹ֥א H3808 not לַיֹּדְעִ֖ים H3045 to men of skill חֵ֑ן H2580 nor yet favour כִּי־ H3588 for עֵ֥ת H6256 but time וָפֶ֖גַע H6294 and chance יִקְרֶ֥ה H7136 happeneth אֶת־ H853 כֻּלָּֽם׃ H3605 all

¹² כִּ֡י H3588 for גַּם֩ H1571 again לֹֽא־ H3808 does not יֵדַ֨ע H3045 also knoweth הָאָדָ֜ם H120 For man אֶת־ H853 עִתּ֗וֹ H6256 not his time כַּדָּגִים֙ H1709 as the fishes שֶׁנֶּֽאֱחָזִים֙ H270 that are taken בִּמְצוֹדָ֣ה H4686 castle רָעָ֔ה H7451 in an evil וְכַ֨צִּפֳּרִ֔ים H6833 and as the birds הָאֲחֻז֖וֹת H270 that are caught בַּפָּ֑ח H6341 in the snare כָּהֵ֗ם H1992 so יֽוּקָשִׁים֙ H3369 snared בְּנֵ֣י H1121 the sons הָֽאָדָ֔ם H120 of men לְעֵ֣ת H6256 time רָעָ֔ה H7451 in an evil כְּשֶׁתִּפּ֥וֹל H5307 when it falleth עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם H5921 and פִּתְאֹֽם׃ H6597 suddenly

¹³ גַּם־ H1571 Also זֹ֛ה H2090 This רָאִ֥יתִי H7200 have I seen חָכְמָ֖ה H2451 wisdom תַּ֣חַת H8478 under הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ H8121 also under the sun וּגְדוֹלָ֥ה H1419 and it great הִ֖יא H1931 he אֵלָֽי׃ H413 about

¹⁴ עִ֣יר H5892 city קְטַנָּ֔ה H6996 a little וַאֲנָשִׁ֥ים H582 men בָּ֖הּ H0 מְעָ֑ט H4592 and few וּבָֽא־ H935 within it and there came אֵלֶ֜יהָ H413 about מֶ֤לֶךְ H4428 king גָּדוֹל֙ H1419 a great וְסָבַ֣ב H5437 against it and besieged אֹתָ֔הּ H853 וּבָנָ֥ה H1129 it and built עָלֶ֖יהָ H5921 against מְצוֹדִ֥ים H4685 bulwarks גְּדֹלִֽים׃ H1419 great

¹⁵ וּמָ֣צָא H4672 Now there was found בָ֗הּ H0 אִ֤ישׁ H376 man מִסְכֵּן֙ H4542 in it a poor חָכָ֔ם H2450 wise וּמִלַּט־ H4422 delivered ה֥וּא H1931 he אֶת־ H853 הָעִ֖יר H5892 the city בְּחָכְמָת֑וֹ H2451 and he by his wisdom וְאָדָם֙ H120 yet no man לֹ֣א H3808 no זָכַ֔ר H2142 remembered אֶת־ H853 הָאִ֥ישׁ H376 man הַמִּסְכֵּ֖ן H4542 that same poor הַהֽוּא׃ H1931 I

¹⁶ וְאָמַ֣רְתִּי H559 Then said אָ֔נִי H589 I טוֹבָ֥ה H2896 better חָכְמָ֖ה H2451 I Wisdom מִגְּבוּרָ֑ה H1369 than strength וְחָכְמַ֤ת H2451 wisdom הַמִּסְכֵּן֙ H4542 nevertheless the poor man's בְּזוּיָ֔ה H959 despised וּדְבָרָ֖יו H1697 and his words אֵינָ֥ם H369 are not נִשְׁמָעִֽים׃ H8085 are not heard

¹⁷ דִּבְרֵ֣י H1697 The words חֲכָמִ֔ים H2450 of wise בְּנַ֖חַת H5183 in quiet נִשְׁמָעִ֑ים H8085 heard מִזַּעֲקַ֥ת H2201 more than the cry מוֹשֵׁ֖ל H4910 of him that ruleth בַּכְּסִילִֽים׃ H3684 among fools

¹⁸ טוֹבָ֥ה H2896 better חָכְמָ֖ה H2451 Wisdom מִכְּלֵ֣י H3627 than weapons קְרָ֑ב H7128 of war וְחוֹטֶ֣א H2398 sinner אֶחָ֔ד H259 but one יְאַבֵּ֥ד H6 destroyeth טוֹבָ֥ה H2896 good הַרְבֵּֽה׃ H7235 much

⁸ חֹפֵ֥ר H2658 He that diggeth גּוּמָּ֖ץ H1475 a pit בּ֣וֹ H0 יִפּ֑וֹל H5307 shall fall וּפֹרֵ֥ץ H6555 into it and whoso breaketh גָּדֵ֖ר H1447 an hedge יִשְּׁכֶ֥נּוּ H5391 shall bite נָחָֽשׁ׃ H5175 a serpent

⁹ מַסִּ֣יעַ H5265 Whoso removeth אֲבָנִ֔ים H68 stones יֵעָצֵ֖ב H6087 shall be hurt בָּהֶ֑ם H0 בּוֹקֵ֥עַ H1234 therewith he that cleaveth עֵצִ֖ים H6086 wood יִסָּ֥כֶן H5533 shall be endangered בָּֽם׃ H0

³ אִם־ H518 If יִמָּלְא֨וּ H4390 be full הֶעָבִ֥ים H5645 If the clouds גֶּ֙שֶׁם֙ H1653 of rain עַל־ H5921 upon הָאָ֣רֶץ H776 upon the earth יָרִ֔יקוּ H7324 they empty וְאִם־ H518 and whether יִפּ֥וֹל H5307 fall עֵ֛ץ H6086 and if the tree בַּדָּר֖וֹם H1864 toward the south וְאִ֣ם H518 If בַּצָּפ֑וֹן H6828 or toward the north מְק֛וֹם H4725 in the place שֶׁיִּפּ֥וֹל H5307 falleth הָעֵ֖ץ H6086 where the tree שָׁ֥ם H8033 there יְהֽוּא׃ H1933 there it shall be

⁴ שֹׁמֵ֥ר H8104 He that observeth ר֖וּחַ H7307 the wind לֹ֣א H3808 will not יִזְרָ֑ע H2232 shall not sow וְרֹאֶ֥ה H7200 and he that regardeth בֶעָבִ֖ים H5645 the clouds לֹ֥א H3808 will not יִקְצֽוֹר׃ H7114 shall not reap

⁵ כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 who אֵֽינְךָ֤ H369 not יוֹדֵ֙עַ֙ H3045 As thou knowest מַה־ H4100 how long דֶּ֣רֶךְ H1870 not what the way הָר֔וּחַ H7307 of the spirit כַּעֲצָמִ֖ים H6106 how the bones בְּבֶ֣טֶן H990 in the womb הַמְּלֵאָ֑ה H4392 of her that is with child כָּ֗כָה H3602 so לֹ֤א H3808 not תֵדַע֙ H3045 even so thou knowest אֶת־ H853 מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה H4639 not the works הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים H430 of God אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 who יַעֲשֶׂ֖ה H6213 who maketh אֶת־ H853 הַכֹּֽל׃ H3605 all

⁶ בַּבֹּ֙קֶר֙ H1242 In the morning זְרַ֣ע H2232 sow אֶת־ H853 זַרְעֶ֔ךָ H2233 thy seed וְלָעֶ֖רֶב H6153 and in the evening אַל־ H408 nay תַּנַּ֣ח H3240 withhold יָדֶ֑ךָ H3027 not thine hand כִּי֩ H3588 for אֵֽינְךָ֨ H369 for יוֹדֵ֜ע H3045 for thou knowest אֵ֣י H335 not whether זֶ֤ה H2088 morning יִכְשָׁר֙ H3787 shall prosper הֲזֶ֣ה H2088 morning אוֹ־ H176 or זֶ֔ה H2088 morning וְאִם־ H518 whether שְׁנֵיהֶ֥ם H8147 either this or that or whether they both כְּאֶחָ֖ד H259 alike טוֹבִֽים׃ H2896 good

⁷ וּמָת֖וֹק H4966 sweet הָא֑וֹר H216 Truly the light וְט֥וֹב H2896 and a pleasant לַֽעֵינַ֖יִם H5869 for the eyes לִרְא֥וֹת H7200 to behold אֶת־ H853 הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃ H8121 the sun

⁸ כִּ֣י H3588 Indeed אִם־ H518 if שָׁנִ֥ים H8141 years הַרְבֵּ֛ה H7235 many יִחְיֶ֥ה H2421 live הָאָדָ֖ם H120 But if a man בְּכֻלָּ֣ם H3605 all יִשְׂמָ֑ח H8055 rejoice וְיִזְכֹּר֙ H2142 in them all yet let him remember אֶת־ H853 יְמֵ֣י H3117 the days הַחֹ֔שֶׁךְ H2822 of darkness כִּֽי־ H3588 Indeed הַרְבֵּ֥ה H7235 for they shall be many יִהְי֖וּ H1961 become כָּל־ H3605 Everything שֶׁבָּ֥א H935 All that cometh הָֽבֶל׃ H1892 vanity

⁹ שְׂמַ֧ח H8055 Rejoice בָּח֣וּר H970 O young man בְּיַלְדוּתֶ֗יךָ H3208 in thy youth וִֽיטִֽיבְךָ֤ H3190 be pleasant לִבְּךָ֙ H3820 and let thy heart בִּימֵ֣י H3117 thee in the days בְחוּרוֹתֶ֔ךָ H979 of thy youth וְהַלֵּךְ֙ H1980 and walk בְּדַרְכֵ֣י H1870 in the ways לִבְּךָ֔ H3820 of thine heart וּבְמַרְאֵ֖י H4758 and in the sight עֵינֶ֑יךָ H5869 of thine eyes וְדָ֕ע H3045 but know כִּ֧י H3588 for עַל־ H5921 and כָּל־ H3605 for all אֵ֛לֶּה H428 these יְבִֽיאֲךָ֥ H935 will bring הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים H430 thou that for all these God בַּמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃ H4941 thee into judgment

¹⁰ וְהָסֵ֥ר H5493 Therefore remove כַּ֙עַס֙ H3708 sorrow מִלִּבֶּ֔ךָ H3820 from thy heart וְהַעֲבֵ֥ר H5674 and put away רָעָ֖ה H7451 evil מִבְּשָׂרֶ֑ךָ H1320 from thy flesh כִּֽי־ H3588 because הַיַּלְד֥וּת H3208 for childhood וְהַֽשַּׁחֲר֖וּת H7839 and youth הָֽבֶל׃ H1892 vanity

¹ וּזְכֹר֙ H2142 Remember אֶת־ H853 בּ֣וֹרְאֶ֔יךָ H1254 now thy Creator בִּימֵ֖י H3117 in the days בְּחוּרֹתֶ֑יךָ H979 of thy youth עַ֣ד H5704 against אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 when לֹא־ H3808 not יָבֹ֙אוּ֙ H935 come יְמֵ֣י H3117 days הָֽרָעָ֔ה H7451 while the evil וְהִגִּ֣יעוּ H5060 draw nigh שָׁנִ֔ים H8141 not nor the years אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 when תֹּאמַ֔ר H559 when thou shalt say אֵֽין־ H369 have לִ֥י H0 בָהֶ֖ם H0 חֵֽפֶץ׃ H2656 I have no pleasure

² עַ֠ד H5704 against אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 after לֹֽא־ H3808 not תֶחְשַׁ֤ךְ H2821 be not darkened הַשֶּׁ֙מֶשׁ֙ H8121 While the sun וְהָא֔וֹר H216 or the light וְהַיָּרֵ֖חַ H3394 or the moon וְהַכּוֹכָבִ֑ים H3556 or the stars וְשָׁ֥בוּ H7725 return הֶעָבִ֖ים H5645 nor the clouds אַחַ֥ר H310 after הַגָּֽשֶׁם׃ H1653 the rain

³ בַּיּ֗וֹם H3117 In the day שֶׁיָּזֻ֙עוּ֙ H2111 shall tremble שֹׁמְרֵ֣י H8104 when the keepers הַבַּ֔יִת H1004 of the house וְהִֽתְעַוְּת֖וּ H5791 shall bow אַנְשֵׁ֣י H376 men הֶחָ֑יִל H2428 and the strong וּבָטְל֤וּ H988 cease הַטֹּֽחֲנוֹת֙ H2912 themselves and the grinders כִּ֣י H3588 because מִעֵ֔טוּ H4592 almost some וְחָשְׁכ֥וּ H2821 be darkened הָרֹא֖וֹת H7200 and those that look out בָּאֲרֻבּֽוֹת׃ H699 of the windows

⁴ וְסֻגְּר֤וּ H5462 shall be shut דְלָתַ֙יִם֙ H1817 And the doors בַּשּׁ֔וּק H7784 in the streets בִּשְׁפַ֖ל H8217 is low ק֣וֹל H6963 when the sound הַֽטַּחֲנָ֑ה H2913 of the grinding וְיָקוּם֙ H6965 and he shall rise up לְק֣וֹל H6963 at the voice הַצִּפּ֔וֹר H6833 of the bird וְיִשַּׁ֖חוּ H7817 shall be brought low כָּל־ H3605 and all בְּנ֥וֹת H1323 and all the daughters הַשִּֽׁיר׃ H7892 of musick

⁵ גַּ֣ם H1571 Furthermore מִגָּבֹ֤הַּ H1364 of high יִרָ֙אוּ֙ H3372 Also they shall be afraid וְחַתְחַתִּ֣ים H2849 and fears בַּדֶּ֔רֶךְ H1870 in the way וְיָנֵ֤אץ H5006 shall flourish הַשָּׁקֵד֙ H8247 and the almond tree וְיִסְתַּבֵּ֣ל H5445 shall be a burden הֶֽחָגָ֔ב H2284 and the grasshopper וְתָפֵ֖ר H6565 shall fail הָֽאֲבִיּוֹנָ֑ה H35 and desire כִּֽי־ H3588 for הֹלֵ֤ךְ H1980 goeth הָאָדָם֙ H120 because man אֶל־ H413 about בֵּ֣ית H1004 home עוֹלָמ֔וֹ H5769 to his long וְסָבְב֥וּ H5437 go about בַשּׁ֖וּק H7784 the streets הַסֹּפְדִֽים׃ H5594 and the mourners

⁶ עַ֣ד H5704 against אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 Or לֹֽא־ H3808 Or ever <יִרחַק כ> (יֵרָתֵק֙ H7368 remove ק) חֶ֣בֶל H2256 cord הַכֶּ֔סֶף H3701 the silver וְתָרֻ֖ץ H7533 be broken גֻּלַּ֣ת H1543 bowl הַזָּהָ֑ב H2091 or the golden וְתִשָּׁ֤בֶר H7665 be broken כַּד֙ H3537 or the pitcher עַל־ H5921 by הַמַּבּ֔וּעַ H4002 at the fountain וְנָרֹ֥ץ H7533 broken הַגַּלְגַּ֖ל H1534 or the wheel אֶל־ H413 at הַבּֽוֹר׃ H953 at the cistern

⁷ וְיָשֹׁ֧ב H7725 return הֶעָפָ֛ר H6083 Then shall the dust עַל־ H5921 unto הָאָ֖רֶץ H776 to the earth כְּשֶׁהָיָ֑ה H1961 it was וְהָר֣וּחַ H7307 as it was and the spirit תָּשׁ֔וּב H7725 shall return אֶל־ H413 to הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים H430 unto God אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 who נְתָנָֽהּ׃ H5414 who gave

⁹ וְיֹתֵ֕ר H3148 And moreover שֶׁהָיָ֥ה H1961 to being קֹהֶ֖לֶת H6953 because the preacher חָכָ֑ם H2450 was wise ע֗וֹד H5750 also לִמַּד־ H3925 he still taught דַּ֙עַת֙ H1847 knowledge אֶת־ H853 הָעָ֔ם H5971 the people וְאִזֵּ֣ן H238 give וְחִקֵּ֔ר H2713 and sought out תִּקֵּ֖ן H8626 set in order מְשָׁלִ֥ים H4912 proverbs הַרְבֵּֽה׃ H7235 many

¹⁴ כִּ֤י H3588 for אֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 every מַֽעֲשֶׂ֔ה H4639 every work הָאֱלֹהִ֛ים H430 For God יָבִ֥א H935 shall bring בְמִשְׁפָּ֖ט H4941 into judgment עַ֣ל H5921 and כָּל־ H3605 everything נֶעְלָ֑ם H5956 with every secret thing אִם־ H518 whether ט֖וֹב H2896 whether good וְאִם־ H518 whether רָֽע׃ H7451 or whether evil
