⁵ מִֽי־ H4310 O יִ֭תֵּן H5414 O that הַחֲרֵ֣שׁ H2790 ye would altogether תַּחֲרִישׁ֑וּן H2790 hold your peace וּתְהִ֖י H1961 become לָכֶ֣ם H0 לְחָכְמָֽה׃ H2451 and it should be your wisdom

⁶ שִׁמְעוּ־ H8085 Hear נָ֥א H4994 Please תוֹכַחְתִּ֑י H8433 now my reasoning וְרִב֖וֹת H7379 to the pleadings שְׂפָתַ֣י H8193 of my lips הַקְשִֽׁיבוּ׃ H7181 and hearken

⁷ הַ֭לְאֵל H410 God תְּדַבְּר֣וּ H1696 Will ye speak עַוְלָ֑ה H5766 wickedly וְ֝ל֗וֹ H0 תְּֽדַבְּר֥וּ H1696 and speak רְמִיָּֽה׃ H7423 deceitfully

⁸ הֲפָנָ֥יו H6440 accept תִּשָּׂא֑וּן H5375 Will ye accept אִם־ H518 lo לָאֵ֥ל H410 God תְּרִיבֽוּן׃ H7378 contend

²⁵ הֶעָלֶ֣ה H5929 a leaf נִדָּ֣ף H5086 driven to and fro תַּעֲר֑וֹץ H6206 Wilt thou break וְאֶת־ H853 קַ֖שׁ H7179 stubble יָבֵ֣שׁ H3002 the dry תִּרְדֹּֽף׃ H7291 ? and wilt thou pursue

²⁶ כִּֽי־ H3588 for תִכְתֹּ֣ב H3789 For thou writest עָלַ֣י H5921 against מְרֹר֑וֹת H4846 bitter things וְ֝תוֹרִישֵׁ֗נִי H3423 against me and makest me to possess עֲוֹנ֥וֹת H5771 the iniquities נְעוּרָֽי׃ H5271 of my youth

²⁷ וְתָ֘שֵׂ֤ם H7760 Thou puttest בַּסַּ֨ד ׀ H5465 also in the stocks רַגְלַ֗י H7272 my feet וְתִשְׁמ֥וֹר H8104 and lookest narrowly כָּל־ H3605 all אָרְחוֹתָ֑י H734 unto all my paths עַל־ H5921 for שָׁרְשֵׁ֥י H8328 upon the heels רַ֝גְלַ֗י H7272 of my feet תִּתְחַקֶּֽה׃ H2707 thou settest a print

²⁸ וְ֭הוּא H1931 he כְּרָקָ֣ב H7538 And he as a rotten thing יִבְלֶ֑ה H1086 consumeth כְּ֝בֶ֗גֶד H899 as a garment אֲכָ֣לוֹ H398 eaten עָֽשׁ׃ H6211 that is moth

² כְּצִ֣יץ H6731 like a flower יָ֭צָא H3318 He cometh forth וַיִּמָּ֑ל H5243 and is cut down וַיִּבְרַ֥ח H1272 he fleeth כַּ֝צֵּ֗ל H6738 also as a shadow וְלֹ֣א H3808 and does not יַעֲמֽוֹד׃ H5975 and continueth אַף־ H637 yet עַל־ H5921 upon

⁷ כִּ֤י H3588 For יֵ֥שׁ H3426 For there is לָעֵ֗ץ H6086 of a tree תִּ֫קְוָ֥ה H8615 hope אִֽם־ H518 When יִ֭כָּרֵת H3772 if it be cut down וְע֣וֹד H5750 again יַחֲלִ֑יף H2498 that it will sprout again וְ֝יֹֽנַקְתּ֗וֹ H3127 and that the tender branch לֹ֣א H3808 will not תֶחְדָּֽל׃ H2308 thereof will not cease

⁸ אִם־ H518 Though יַזְקִ֣ין H2204 thereof wax old בָּאָ֣רֶץ H776 in the earth שָׁרְשׁ֑וֹ H8328 Though the root וּ֝בֶעָפָ֗ר H6083 in the ground יָמ֥וּת H4191 thereof die גִּזְעֽוֹ׃ H1503 and the stock

⁹ מֵרֵ֣יחַ H7381 through the scent מַ֣יִם H4325 of water יַפְרִ֑חַ H6524 it will bud וְעָשָׂ֖ה H6213 and bring forth קָצִ֣יר H7105 boughs כְּמוֹ־ H3644 like נָֽטַע׃ H5194 like a plant

¹⁰ וְגֶ֣בֶר H1397 But man יָ֭מוּת H4191 dieth וַֽיֶּחֱלָ֑שׁ H2522 and wasteth away וַיִּגְוַ֖ע H1478 giveth up the ghost אָדָ֣ם H120 yea man וְאַיּֽוֹ׃ H346 where

¹¹ אָֽזְלוּ־ H235 fail מַ֭יִם H4325 the waters מִנִּי־ H4480 from יָ֑ם H3220 from the sea וְ֝נָהָ֗ר H5104 and the flood יֶחֱרַ֥ב H2717 decayeth וְיָבֵֽשׁ׃ H3001 and drieth up

¹⁸ וְ֭אוּלָם H199 And surely הַר־ H2022 the mountain נוֹפֵ֣ל H5307 falling יִבּ֑וֹל H5034 cometh to nought וְ֝צ֗וּר H6697 and the rock יֶעְתַּ֥ק H6275 is removed מִמְּקֹמֽוֹ׃ H4725 out of his place

¹⁹ אֲבָנִ֤ים ׀ H68 the stones שָׁ֥חֲקוּ H7833 wear מַ֗יִם H4325 The waters תִּשְׁטֹֽף־ H7857 thou washest away סְפִיחֶ֥יהָ H5599 the things which grow עֲפַר־ H6083 of the dust אָ֑רֶץ H776 of the earth וְתִקְוַ֖ת H8615 the hope אֱנ֣וֹשׁ H582 of man הֶאֱבַֽדְתָּ׃ H6 and thou destroyest

²⁰ תִּתְקְפֵ֣הוּ H8630 Thou prevailest לָ֭נֶצַח H5331 for ever וַֽיַּהֲלֹ֑ךְ H1980 against him and he passeth מְשַׁנֶּ֥ה H8138 thou changest פָ֝נָ֗יו H6440 his countenance וַֽתְּשַׁלְּחֵֽהוּ׃ H7971 and sendest him away

²¹ יִכְבְּד֣וּ H3513 come to honour בָ֭נָיו H1121 His sons וְלֹ֣א H3808 does not יֵדָ֑ע H3045 and he knoweth וְ֝יִצְעֲר֗וּ H6819 not and they are brought low וְֽלֹא־ H3808 does not יָבִ֥ין H995 but he perceiveth לָֽמוֹ׃ H0

²² אַךְ־ H389 but בְּ֭שָׂרוֹ H1320 But his flesh עָלָ֣יו H5921 and יִכְאָ֑ב H3510 upon him shall have pain וְ֝נַפְשׁ֗וֹ H5315 and his soul עָלָ֥יו H5921 and he תֶּאֱבָֽל׃ H56 within him shall mourn פ

¹ וַ֭יַּעַן H6030 Then answered אֱלִיפַ֥ז H464 Eliphaz הַֽתֵּימָנִ֗י H8489 the Temanite וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ H559 and said

² הֶֽחָכָ֗ם H2450 Should a wise man יַעֲנֶ֥ה H6030 utter דַֽעַת־ H1847 knowledge ר֑וּחַ H7307 vain וִֽימַלֵּ֖א H4390 and fill קָדִ֣ים H6921 the east בִּטְנֽוֹ׃ H990 his belly

³ הוֹכֵ֣חַ H3198 Should he reason בְּ֭דָבָר H1697 talk לֹ֣א H3808 not יִסְכּ֑וֹן H5532 with unprofitable וּ֝מִלִּ֗ים H4405 words לֹא־ H3808 no יוֹעִ֥יל H3276 wherewith he can do no good בָּֽם׃ H0

⁴ אַף־ H637 Indeed אַ֭תָּה H859 you תָּפֵ֣ר H6565 Yea thou castest off יִרְאָ֑ה H3374 fear וְתִגְרַ֥ע H1639 and restrainest שִׂ֝יחָ֗ה H7881 prayer לִפְנֵי־ H6440 before אֵֽל׃ H410 God

⁵ כִּ֤י H3588 for יְאַלֵּ֣ף H502 uttereth עֲוֹנְךָ֣ H5771 thine iniquity פִ֑יךָ H6310 For thy mouth וְ֝תִבְחַ֗ר H977 and thou choosest לְשׁ֣וֹן H3956 the tongue עֲרוּמִֽים׃ H6175 of the crafty

⁶ יַרְשִֽׁיעֲךָ֣ H7561 condemneth פִ֣יךָ H6310 Thine own mouth וְלֹא־ H3808 and not אָ֑נִי H589 I וּ֝שְׂפָתֶ֗יךָ H8193 thee and not I yea thine own lips יַעֲנוּ־ H6030 testify בָֽךְ׃ H0

⁷ הֲרִאישׁ֣וֹן H7223 the first אָ֭דָם H120 man תִּוָּלֵ֑ד H3205 was born וְלִפְנֵ֖י H6440 before גְבָע֣וֹת H1389 hill חוֹלָֽלְתָּ׃ H2342 ? or wast thou made

⁸ הַבְס֣וֹד H5475 the secret אֱל֣וֹהַ H433 of God תִּשְׁמָ֑ע H8085 Hast thou heard וְתִגְרַ֖ע H1639 and limit אֵלֶ֣יךָ H413 about חָכְמָֽה׃ H2451 wisdom

⁹ מַה־ H4100 What יָּ֭דַעְתָּ H3045 What knowest וְלֹ֣א H3808 not נֵדָ֑ע H3045 thou that we know תָּ֝בִ֗ין H995 not? understandest וְֽלֹא־ H3808 not עִמָּ֥נוּ H5973 with הֽוּא׃ H1931 he

¹⁰ גַּם־ H1571 Both שָׂ֣ב H7867 With us both the grayheaded גַּם־ H1571 Both יָשִׁ֣ישׁ H3453 and very aged בָּ֑נוּ H0 כַּבִּ֖יר H3524 men much מֵאָבִ֣יךָ H1 than thy father יָמִֽים׃ H3117 elder

¹² מַה־ H4100 Why יִּקָּחֲךָ֥ H3947 carry thee away לִבֶּ֑ךָ H3820 Why doth thine heart וּֽמַה־ H4100 and why יִּרְזְמ֥וּן H7335 wink at עֵינֶֽיךָ׃ H5869 ? and what do thy eyes

¹³ כִּֽי־ H3588 for תָשִׁ֣יב H7725 That thou turnest אֶל־ H413 against אֵ֣ל H410 against God רוּחֶ֑ךָ H7307 thy spirit וְהֹצֵ֖אתָ H3318 go out מִפִּ֣יךָ H6310 according מִלִּֽין׃ H4405 and lettest words

¹⁴ מָֽה־ H4100 What אֱנ֥וֹשׁ H582 What man כִּֽי־ H3588 for יִזְכֶּ֑ה H2135 that he should be clean וְכִֽי־ H3588 for יִ֝צְדַּ֗ק H6663 that he should be righteous יְל֣וּד H3205 ? and born אִשָּֽׁה׃ H802 of a woman

¹⁵ הֵ֣ן H2005 Behold <בִּקְדֹשֹׁו כ> (בִּ֭קְדֹשָׁיו H6918 holy ק) לֹ֣א H3808 no יַאֲמִ֑ין H539 Behold he putteth no trust וְ֝שָׁמַ֗יִם H8064 yea the heavens לֹא־ H3808 no זַכּ֥וּ H2141 are not clean בְעֵינָֽיו׃ H5869 in his sight

¹⁶ אַ֭ף H637 How כִּֽי־ H3588 for נִתְעָ֥ב H8581 How much more abominable וְֽנֶאֱלָ֑ח H444 and filthy אִישׁ־ H376 man שֹׁתֶ֖ה H8354 which drinketh כַמַּ֣יִם H4325 water עַוְלָֽה׃ H5766 iniquity

¹⁷ אֲחַוְךָ֥ H2331 I will shew שְֽׁמַֽע־ H8085 thee hear לִ֑י H0 וְזֶֽה־ H2088 and what חָ֝זִ֗יתִי H2372 me and that I have seen וַאֲסַפֵּֽרָה׃ H5608 I will declare

¹⁸ אֲשֶׁר־ H834 What חֲכָמִ֥ים H2450 Which wise יַגִּ֑ידוּ H5046 men have told וְלֹ֥א H3808 not כִֽ֝חֲד֗וּ H3582 and have not hid מֵאֲבוֹתָֽם׃ H1 from their fathers

²¹ קוֹל־ H6963 sound פְּחָדִ֥ים H6343 A dreadful בְּאָזְנָ֑יו H241 in his ears בַּ֝שָּׁל֗וֹם H7965 in prosperity שׁוֹדֵ֥ד H7703 the destroyer יְבוֹאֶֽנּוּ׃ H935 shall come

²² לֹא־ H3808 does not יַאֲמִ֣ין H539 He believeth שׁ֭וּב H7725 not that he shall return מִנִּי־ H4480 from חֹ֑שֶׁךְ H2822 out of darkness <וְצָפוּ כ> (וְצָפ֖וּי H6822 behold ק) ה֣וּא H1931 he אֱלֵי־ H413 for חָֽרֶב׃ H2719 for of the sword

²³ נֹ֘דֵ֤ד H5074 He wandereth abroad ה֣וּא H1931 he לַלֶּ֣חֶם H3899 for bread אַיֵּ֑ה H344 kite יָדַ֓ע ׀ H3045 Where ? he knoweth כִּֽי־ H3588 for נָכ֖וֹן H3559 is ready בְּיָד֣וֹ H3027 at his hand יֽוֹם־ H3117 that the day חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃ H2822 of darkness

²⁴ יְֽ֭בַעֲתֻהוּ H1204 shall make him afraid צַ֣ר H6862 Trouble וּמְצוּקָ֑ה H4691 and anguish תִּ֝תְקְפֵ֗הוּ H8630 they shall prevail כְּמֶ֤לֶךְ ׀ H4428 against him as a king עָתִ֬יד H6264 ready לַכִּידֽוֹר׃ H3593 to the battle

²⁵ כִּֽי־ H3588 Because נָטָ֣ה H5186 For he stretcheth out אֶל־ H413 against אֵ֣ל H410 against God יָד֑וֹ H3027 his hand וְאֶל־ H413 against שַׁ֝דַּ֗י H7706 himself against the Almighty יִתְגַּבָּֽר׃ H1396 and strengtheneth

²⁶ יָר֣וּץ H7323 He runneth אֵלָ֣יו H413 about בְּצַוָּ֑אר H6677 upon him on neck בַּ֝עֲבִ֗י H5672 upon the thick גַּבֵּ֥י H1354 bosses מָֽגִנָּֽיו׃ H4043 of his bucklers

²⁷ כִּֽי־ H3588 for כִסָּ֣ה H3680 Because he covereth פָנָ֣יו H6440 his face בְּחֶלְבּ֑וֹ H2459 with his fatness וַיַּ֖עַשׂ H6213 and maketh פִּימָ֣ה H6371 collops of fat עֲלֵי־ H5921 and כָֽסֶל׃ H3689 on flanks

²⁸ וַיִּשְׁכּ֤וֹן ׀ H7931 And he dwelleth עָ֘רִ֤ים H5892 cities נִכְחָד֗וֹת H3582 in desolate בָּ֭תִּים H1004 in houses לֹא־ H3808 no יֵ֣שְׁבוּ H3427 which no man inhabiteth לָ֑מוֹ H0 אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 Which הִתְעַתְּד֣וּ H6257 which are ready לְגַלִּֽים׃ H1530 to become heaps

²⁹ לֹֽא־ H3808 nor יֶ֭עְשַׁר H6238 He shall not be rich וְלֹא־ H3808 nor יָק֣וּם H6965 continue חֵיל֑וֹ H2428 neither shall his substance וְלֹֽא־ H3808 nor יִטֶּ֖ה H5186 neither shall he prolong לָאָ֣רֶץ H776 thereof upon the earth מִנְלָֽם׃ H4512 the perfection

³⁰ לֹֽא־ H3808 He will not יָס֨וּר ׀ H5493 He shall not depart מִנִּי־ H4480 from חֹ֗שֶׁךְ H2822 out of darkness יֹֽ֭נַקְתּוֹ H3127 his branches תְּיַבֵּ֣שׁ H3001 shall dry up שַׁלְהָ֑בֶת H7957 the flame וְ֝יָס֗וּר H5493 shall he go away בְּר֣וּחַ H7307 and by the breath פִּֽיו׃ H6310 of his mouth

³¹ אַל־ H408 nay יַאֲמֵ֣ן H539 trust <בַּשֹּׁו כ> (בַּשָּׁ֣יו H7723 emptiness ק) נִתְעָ֑ה H8582 Let not him that is deceived כִּי־ H3588 in שָׁ֝֗וְא H7723 in vanity תִּהְיֶ֥ה H1961 become תְמוּרָתֽוֹ׃ H8545 shall be his recompence

³² בְּֽלֹא־ H3808 before י֭וֹמוֹ H3117 his time תִּמָּלֵ֑א H4390 It shall be accomplished וְ֝כִפָּת֗וֹ H3712 and his branch לֹ֣א H3808 before רַעֲנָֽנָה׃ H7488 shall not be green

³³ יַחְמֹ֣ס H2554 He shall shake off כַּגֶּ֣פֶן H1612 as the vine בִּסְר֑וֹ H1154 his unripe grape וְיַשְׁלֵ֥ךְ H7993 and shall cast off כַּ֝זַּ֗יִת H2132 as the olive נִצָּתֽוֹ׃ H5328 his flower

³⁴ כִּֽי־ H3588 For עֲדַ֣ת H5712 For the congregation חָנֵ֣ף H2611 of hypocrites גַּלְמ֑וּד H1565 desolate וְ֝אֵ֗שׁ H784 and fire אָכְלָ֥ה H398 shall consume אָֽהֳלֵי־ H168 the tabernacles שֹֽׁחַד׃ H7810 of bribery

³⁵ הָרֹ֣ה H2029 They conceive עָ֭מָל H5999 mischief וְיָ֣לֹד H3205 and bring forth אָ֑וֶן H205 vanity וּ֝בִטְנָ֗ם H990 and their belly תָּכִ֥ין H3559 prepareth מִרְמָֽה׃ H4820 deceit ס

² שָׁמַ֣עְתִּי H8085 I have heard כְאֵ֣לֶּה H428 such רַבּ֑וֹת H7227 many such things מְנַחֲמֵ֖י H5162 comforters עָמָ֣ל H5999 miserable כֻּלְּכֶֽם׃ H3605 all

³ הֲקֵ֥ץ H7093 is there limit לְדִבְרֵי־ H1697 words ר֑וּחַ H7307 Shall vain א֥וֹ H176 and מַה־ H4100 what יַּ֝מְרִֽיצְךָ֗ H4834 plagues כִּ֣י H3588 for תַעֲנֶֽה׃ H6030 thee that thou answerest

⁴ גַּ֤ם ׀ H1571 too אָנֹכִי֮ H595 I כָּכֶ֪ם H0 אֲדַ֫בֵּ֥רָה H1696 I also could speak ל֤וּ־ H3863 as ye if יֵ֪שׁ H3426 were נַפְשְׁכֶ֡ם H5315 your soul תַּ֤חַת H8478 your place נַפְשִׁ֗י H5315 in my soul's אַחְבִּ֣ירָה H2266 stead I could heap up עֲלֵיכֶ֣ם H5921 against בְּמִלִּ֑ים H4405 words וְאָנִ֥יעָה H5128 against you and shake עֲ֝לֵיכֶ֗ם H5921 against בְּמ֣וֹ H1119 at רֹאשִֽׁי׃ H7218 mine head

⁵ אֲאַמִּצְכֶ֥ם H553 I would strengthen בְּמוֹ־ H1119 you with פִ֑י H6310 my mouth וְנִ֖יד H5205 and the moving שְׂפָתַ֣י H8193 of my lips יַחְשֹֽׂךְ׃ H2820 should asswage

⁶ אִֽם־ H518 If אֲ֭דַבְּרָה H1696 Though I speak לֹא־ H3808 is not יֵחָשֵׂ֣ךְ H2820 is not asswaged כְּאֵבִ֑י H3511 my grief וְ֝אַחְדְּלָ֗ה H2308 and I forbear מַה־ H4100 what מִנִּ֥י H4480 at יַהֲלֹֽךְ׃ H1980 what am I eased

⁷ אַךְ־ H389 but עַתָּ֥ה H6258 now הֶלְאָ֑נִי H3811 But now he hath made me weary הֲ֝שִׁמּ֗וֹתָ H8074 thou hast made desolate כָּל־ H3605 all עֲדָתִֽי׃ H5712 all my company

⁸ וַֽ֭תִּקְמְטֵנִי H7059 And thou hast filled me with wrinkles לְעֵ֣ד H5707 is a witness הָיָ֑ה H1961 has become וַיָּ֥קָם H6965 rising up בִּ֥י H0 כַ֝חֲשִׁ֗י H3585 and my leanness בְּפָנַ֥י H6440 to my face יַעֲנֶֽה׃ H6030 in me beareth witness

⁹ אַפּ֤וֹ H639 in his wrath טָרַ֨ף ׀ H2963 He teareth וַֽיִּשְׂטְמֵ֗נִי H7852 who hateth חָרַ֣ק H2786 me he gnasheth עָלַ֣י H5921 with בְּשִׁנָּ֑יו H8127 upon me with his teeth צָרִ֓י ׀ H6862 mine enemy יִלְט֖וֹשׁ H3913 sharpeneth עֵינָ֣יו H5869 his eyes לִֽי׃ H0

¹⁰ פָּעֲר֬וּ H6473 They have gaped עָלַ֨י ׀ H5921 against בְּפִיהֶ֗ם H6310 upon me with their mouth בְּ֭חֶרְפָּה H2781 reproachfully הִכּ֣וּ H5221 they have smitten לְחָיָ֑י H3895 me upon the cheek יַ֝֗חַד H3162 themselves together עָלַ֥י H5921 against יִתְמַלָּאֽוּן׃ H4390 they have gathered

¹¹ יַסְגִּירֵ֣נִי H5462 hath delivered אֵ֭ל H410 God אֶ֣ל H413 to עֲוִ֑יל H5760 me to the ungodly וְעַל־ H5921 into יְדֵ֖י H3027 into the hands רְשָׁעִ֣ים H7563 of the wicked יִרְטֵֽנִי׃ H3399 and turned me over

¹² שָׁ֘לֵ֤ו H7961 I was at ease הָיִ֨יתִי ׀ H1961 become וַֽיְפַרְפְּרֵ֗נִי H6565 but he hath broken me asunder וְאָחַ֣ז H270 he hath also taken בְּ֭עָרְפִּי H6203 by my neck וַֽיְפַצְפְּצֵ֑נִי H6327 and shaken me to pieces וַיְקִימֵ֥נִי H6965 and set me up ל֝֗וֹ H0 לְמַטָּרָֽה׃ H4307 for his mark

¹³ יָ֘סֹ֤בּוּ H5437 compass me round about עָלַ֨י ׀ H5921 and רַבָּ֗יו H7228 His archers יְפַלַּ֣ח H6398 asunder כִּ֭לְיוֹתַי H3629 my reins וְלֹ֣א H3808 Without יַחְמ֑וֹל H2550 and doth not spare יִשְׁפֹּ֥ךְ H8210 he poureth out לָ֝אָ֗רֶץ H776 upon the ground מְרֵרָֽתִי׃ H4845 my gall

¹⁴ יִפְרְצֵ֣נִי H6555 He breaketh פֶ֭רֶץ H6556 me with breach עַל־ H5921 up פְּנֵי־ H6440 upon פָ֑רֶץ H6556 breach יָרֻ֖ץ H7323 he runneth עָלַ֣י H5921 and כְּגִבּֽוֹר׃ H1368 upon me like a giant

¹⁵ שַׂ֣ק H8242 sackcloth תָּ֭פַרְתִּי H8609 I have sewed עֲלֵ֣י H5921 over גִלְדִּ֑י H1539 upon my skin וְעֹלַ֖לְתִּי H5953 and defiled בֶעָפָ֣ר H6083 in the dust קַרְנִֽי׃ H7161 my horn

¹⁶ פָּנַ֣י H6440 My face <חֳמַרְמְרָה כ> (חֳ֭מַרְמְרוּ H2560 daub ק) מִנִּי־ H4480 from בֶ֑כִי H1065 with weeping וְעַ֖ל H5921 is on עַפְעַפַּ֣י H6079 and on my eyelids צַלְמָֽוֶת׃ H6757 the shadow of death

¹⁷ עַ֭ל H5921 Although לֹא־ H3808 is no חָמָ֣ס H2555 Not for injustice בְּכַפָּ֑י H3709 in mine hands וּֽתְפִלָּתִ֥י H8605 also my prayer זַכָּֽה׃ H2134 pure

¹⁸ אֶ֭רֶץ H776 O earth אַל־ H408 and Let there be no תְּכַסִּ֣י H3680 cover דָמִ֑י H1818 not thou my blood וְֽאַל־ H408 and Let there be no יְהִ֥י H1961 become מָ֝ק֗וֹם H4725 have no place לְזַעֲקָתִֽי׃ H2201 and let my cry

¹⁹ גַּם־ H1571 Even עַ֭תָּה H6258 now הִנֵּה־ H2009 behold בַשָּׁמַ֣יִם H8064 in heaven עֵדִ֑י H5707 Also now behold my witness וְ֝שָׂהֲדִ֗י H7717 and my record בַּמְּרוֹמִֽים׃ H4791 on high

²⁰ מְלִיצַ֥י H3887 scorn רֵעָ֑י H7453 My friends אֶל־ H413 to אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַ H433 unto God דָּלְפָ֥ה H1811 poureth out עֵינִֽי׃ H5869 me mine eye

²¹ וְיוֹכַ֣ח H3198 O that one might plead לְגֶ֣בֶר H1397 for a man עִם־ H5973 with אֱל֑וֹהַּ H433 with God וּֽבֶן־ H1121 afflicted אָדָ֥ם H120 as a man לְרֵעֵֽהוּ׃ H7453 his neighbor

²² כִּֽי־ H3588 for שְׁנ֣וֹת H8141 years מִסְפָּ֣ר H4557 When a few יֶאֱתָ֑יוּ H857 are come וְאֹ֖רַח H734 the way לֹא־ H3808 of no אָשׁ֣וּב H7725 I shall not return אֶהֱלֹֽךְ׃ H1980 then I shall go

¹ רוּחִ֣י H7307 My breath חֻ֭בָּלָה H2254 is corrupt יָמַ֥י H3117 my days נִזְעָ֗כוּ H2193 are extinct קְבָרִ֥ים H6913 the graves לִֽי׃ H0

² אִם־ H518 lo לֹ֣א H3808 not הֲ֭תֻלִים H2049 not mockers עִמָּדִ֑י H5978 against וּ֝בְהַמְּרוֹתָ֗ם H4784 in their provocation תָּלַ֥ן H3885 continue עֵינִֽי׃ H5869 with me? and doth not mine eye

³ שִֽׂימָה־ H7760 Lay down נָּ֭א H4994 now עָרְבֵ֣נִי H6148 now put me in a surety עִמָּ֑ךְ H5973 with מִֽי H4310 Who ה֝֗וּא H1931 he לְיָדִ֥י H3027 hands יִתָּקֵֽעַ׃ H8628 with thee who he will strike

⁴ כִּֽי־ H3588 for לִ֭בָּם H3820 their heart צָפַ֣נְתָּ H6845 For thou hast hid מִּשָּׂ֑כֶל H7922 from understanding עַל־ H5921 and כֵּ֝֗ן H3651 after that לֹ֣א H3808 You will not תְרֹמֵֽם׃ H7311 therefore shalt thou not exalt

⁵ לְ֭חֵלֶק H2506 flattery יַגִּ֣יד H5046 He that speaketh רֵעִ֑ים H7453 to friends וְעֵינֵ֖י H5869 even the eyes בָנָ֣יו H1121 of his children תִּכְלֶֽנָה׃ H3615 shall fail

⁶ וְֽ֭הִצִּגַנִי H3322 He hath made לִמְשֹׁ֣ל H4914 me also a byword עַמִּ֑ים H5971 of the people וְתֹ֖פֶת H8611 I was as a tabret לְפָנִ֣ים H6440 and aforetime אֶֽהְיֶֽה׃ H1961 am

⁷ וַתֵּ֣כַהּ H3543 also is dim מִכַּ֣עַשׂ H3708 by reason of sorrow עֵינִ֑י H5869 Mine eye וִֽיצֻרַ֖י H3338 and all my members כַּצֵּ֣ל H6738 as a shadow כֻּלָּֽם׃ H3605 and all

⁸ יָשֹׁ֣מּוּ H8074 shall be astonied יְשָׁרִ֣ים H3477 Upright עַל־ H5921 against זֹ֑את H2063 likewise וְ֝נָקִ֗י H5355 at this and the innocent עַל־ H5921 against חָנֵ֥ף H2611 himself against the hypocrite יִתְעֹרָֽר׃ H5782 shall stir up

⁹ וְיֹאחֵ֣ז H270 also shall hold צַדִּ֣יק H6662 The righteous דַּרְכּ֑וֹ H1870 on his way וּֽטֳהָר־ H2891 be make יָ֝דַ֗יִם H3027 hands יֹסִ֥יף H3254 shall be אֹֽמֶץ׃ H555 stronger and stronger

¹⁰ וְֽאוּלָ֗ם H199 But כֻּלָּ֣ם H3605 all תָּ֭שֻׁבוּ H7725 as for you all do ye return וּבֹ֣אוּ H935 and come now נָ֑א H4994 now וְלֹֽא־ H3808 not אֶמְצָ֖א H4672 for I cannot find בָכֶ֣ם H0 חָכָֽם׃ H2450 wise

¹¹ יָמַ֣י H3117 My days עָ֭בְרוּ H5674 are past זִמֹּתַ֣י H2154 my purposes נִתְּק֑וּ H5423 are broken off מ֖וֹרָשֵׁ֣י H4180 the thoughts לְבָבִֽי׃ H3824 of my heart

¹² לַ֭יְלָה H3915 the night לְי֣וֹם H3117 into day יָשִׂ֑ימוּ H7760 They change א֝֗וֹר H216 the light קָר֥וֹב H7138 short מִפְּנֵי־ H6440 because חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃ H2822 of darkness

¹³ אִם־ H518 If אֲ֭קַוֶּה H6960 If I wait שְׁא֣וֹל H7585 the grave בֵּיתִ֑י H1004 mine house בַּ֝חֹ֗שֶׁךְ H2822 in the darkness רִפַּ֥דְתִּי H7502 I have made יְצוּעָֽי׃ H3326 my bed

¹⁴ לַשַּׁ֣חַת H7845 to corruption קָ֭רָאתִי H7121 I have said אָ֣בִי H1 Thou my father אָ֑תָּה H859 you אִמִּ֥י H517 my mother וַ֝אֲחֹתִ֗י H269 and my sister לָֽרִמָּֽה׃ H7415 to the worm

¹⁵ וְ֭אַיֵּה H346 Where אֵפ֣וֹ H645 And where now תִקְוָתִ֑י H8615 expectation וְ֝תִקְוָתִ֗י H8615 expectation מִ֣י H4310 any יְשׁוּרֶֽנָּה׃ H7789 who shall see

¹⁶ בַּדֵּ֣י H905 to the bars שְׁאֹ֣ל H7585 of the pit תֵּרַ֑דְנָה H3381 They shall go down אִם־ H518 lo יַ֖חַד H3162 together עַל־ H5921 in עָפָ֣ר H6083 in the dust נָֽחַת׃ H5183 when rest ס

¹ וַ֭יַּעַן H6030 Then answered בִּלְדַּ֥ד H1085 Bildad הַשֻּׁחִ֗י H7747 the Shuhite וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ H559 and said

² עַד־ H5704 How long אָ֤נָה ׀ H575 How תְּשִׂימ֣וּן H7760 ye make קִנְצֵ֣י H7078 an end לְמִלִּ֑ין H4405 answer תָּ֝בִ֗ינוּ H995 understanding וְאַחַ֥ר H310 and afterwards נְדַבֵּֽר׃ H1696 we will speak

³ מַ֭דּוּעַ H4069 Why נֶחְשַׁ֣בְנוּ H2803 Wherefore are we counted כַבְּהֵמָ֑ה H929 as beasts נִ֝טְמִ֗ינוּ H2933 reputed vile בְּעֵינֵיכֶֽם׃ H5869 affliction

⁴ טֹֽרֵ֥ף H2963 He teareth נַפְשׁ֗וֹ H5315 himself בְּאַ֫פּ֥וֹ H639 in his anger הַ֭לְמַעַנְךָ H4616 because of תֵּעָ֣זַב H5800 be forsaken אָ֑רֶץ H776 shall the earth וְיֶעְתַּק־ H6275 be removed צ֝֗וּר H6697 for thee? and shall the rock מִמְּקֹמֽוֹ׃ H4725 country

⁵ גַּ֤ם H1571 Indeed א֣וֹר H216 Yea the light רְשָׁעִ֣ים H7563 of the wicked יִדְעָ֑ךְ H1846 shall be put out וְלֹֽא־ H3808 no יִ֝גַּ֗הּ H5050 shall not shine שְׁבִ֣יב H7632 and the spark אִשּֽׁוֹ׃ H784 of his fire

⁶ א֭וֹר H216 The light חָשַׁ֣ךְ H2821 shall be dark בְּאָהֳל֑וֹ H168 in his tabernacle וְ֝נֵר֗וֹ H5216 and his candle עָלָ֥יו H5921 above יִדְעָֽךְ׃ H1846 shall be put out

⁷ יֵֽ֭צְרוּ H3334 shall be straitened צַעֲדֵ֣י H6806 The steps אוֹנ֑וֹ H202 of his strength וְֽתַשְׁלִיכֵ֥הוּ H7993 shall cast him down עֲצָתֽוֹ׃ H6098 and his own counsel

⁸ כִּֽי־ H3588 for שֻׁלַּ֣ח H7971 For he is cast בְּרֶ֣שֶׁת H7568 into a net בְּרַגְלָ֑יו H7272 by his own feet וְעַל־ H5921 on שְׂ֝בָכָ֗ה H7639 upon a snare יִתְהַלָּֽךְ׃ H1980 and he walketh

⁹ יֹאחֵ֣ז H270 shall take בְּעָקֵ֣ב H6119 by the heel פָּ֑ח H6341 The gin יַחֲזֵ֖ק H2388 shall prevail עָלָ֣יו H5921 and צַמִּֽים׃ H6782 the robber

¹⁰ טָמ֣וּן H2934 laid בָּאָ֣רֶץ H776 for him in the ground חַבְל֑וֹ H2256 The snare וּ֝מַלְכֻּדְתּ֗וֹ H4434 and a trap עֲלֵ֣י H5921 on נָתִֽיב׃ H5410 for him in the way

¹¹ סָ֭בִיב H5439 on every side בִּֽעֲתֻ֣הוּ H1204 shall make him afraid בַלָּה֑וֹת H1091 Terrors וֶהֱפִיצֻ֥הוּ H6327 and shall drive לְרַגְלָֽיו׃ H7272 him to his feet

¹² יְהִי־ H1961 become רָעֵ֥ב H7457 shall be hungerbitten אֹנ֑וֹ H202 His strength וְ֝אֵ֗יד H343 and destruction נָכ֥וֹן H3559 ready לְצַלְעֽוֹ׃ H6763 at his side

¹³ יֹ֭אכַל H398 It shall devour בַּדֵּ֣י H905 the strength עוֹר֑וֹ H5785 of his skin יֹאכַ֥ל H398 shall devour בַּ֝דָּ֗יו H905 his strength בְּכ֣וֹר H1060 the firstborn מָֽוֶת׃ H4194 of death

¹⁴ יִנָּתֵ֣ק H5423 shall be rooted out מֵ֭אָהֳלוֹ H168 of his tabernacle מִבְטַח֑וֹ H4009 His confidence וְ֝תַצְעִדֵ֗הוּ H6805 and it shall bring לְמֶ֣לֶךְ H4428 him to the king בַּלָּהֽוֹת׃ H1091 of terrors

¹⁶ מִ֭תַּחַת H8478 Thahash שָֽׁרָשָׁ֣יו H8328 His roots יִבָ֑שׁוּ H3001 shall be dried up וּ֝מִמַּ֗עַל H4605 beneath and above יִמַּ֥ל H5243 be cut off קְצִירֽוֹ׃ H7105 shall his branch

¹⁷ זִֽכְרוֹ־ H2143 His remembrance אָ֭בַד H6 shall perish מִנִּי־ H4480 from אָ֑רֶץ H776 from the earth וְלֹא־ H3808 has no שֵׁ֥ם H8034 and he shall have no name ל֝֗וֹ H0 עַל־ H5921 and פְּנֵי־ H6440 accept חֽוּץ׃ H2351 abroad

¹⁸ יֶ֭הְדְּפֻהוּ H1920 He shall be driven מֵא֣וֹר H216 from light אֶל־ H413 into חֹ֑שֶׁךְ H2822 into darkness וּֽמִתֵּבֵ֥ל H8398 out of the world יְנִדֻּֽהוּ׃ H5074 and chased

¹⁹ לֹ֘א H3808 has no נִ֤ין H5209 He shall neither have son ל֣וֹ H0 וְלֹא־ H3808 has no נֶ֣כֶד H5220 nor nephew בְּעַמּ֑וֹ H5971 among his people וְאֵ֥ין H369 Nor שָׂ֝רִ֗יד H8300 nor any remaining בִּמְגוּרָֽיו׃ H4033 in his dwellings

²⁰ עַל־ H5921 at י֭וֹמוֹ H3117 at his day נָשַׁ֣מּוּ H8074 shall be astonied אַחֲרֹנִ֑ים H314 They that come after וְ֝קַדְמֹנִ֗ים H6931 as they that went before אָ֣חֲזוּ H270 are seized שָֽׂעַר׃ H8178 horror

²¹ אַךְ־ H389 Surely אֵ֭לֶּה H428 such מִשְׁכְּנ֣וֹת H4908 Surely such the dwellings עַוָּ֑ל H5767 of the wicked וְ֝זֶ֗ה H2088 and this מְק֣וֹם H4725 and this the place לֹא־ H3808 does not יָדַֽע־ H3045 knoweth אֵֽל׃ H410 not God ס

¹ וַיַּ֥עַן H6030 answered אִיּ֗וֹב H347 Then Job וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ H559 and said

² עַד־ H5704 long אָ֭נָה H575 How תּוֹגְי֣וּן H3013 How long will ye vex נַפְשִׁ֑י H5315 my soul וּֽתְדַכְּאוּנַ֥נִי H1792 and break בְמִלִּֽים׃ H4405 answer

³ זֶ֤ה H2088 These עֶ֣שֶׂר H6235 These ten פְּ֭עָמִים H6471 times תַּכְלִימ֑וּנִי H3637 have ye reproached לֹֽא־ H3808 are not תֵ֝בֹ֗שׁוּ H954 me ye are not ashamed תַּהְכְּרוּ־ H1970 ye make yourselves strange לִֽי׃ H0

⁴ וְאַף־ H637 Even אָמְנָ֥ם H551 And be it indeed שָׁגִ֑יתִי H7686 I have erred אִ֝תִּ֗י H854 for תָּלִ֥ין H3885 remaineth מְשׁוּגָתִֽי׃ H4879 mine error

⁵ אִם־ H518 If אָ֭מְנָם H551 If indeed עָלַ֣י H5921 against תַּגְדִּ֑ילוּ H1431 ye will magnify וְתוֹכִ֥יחוּ H3198 against me and plead עָ֝לַ֗י H5921 against חֶרְפָּתִּֽי׃ H2781 against me my reproach

⁶ דְּֽעוּ־ H3045 Know אֵ֭פוֹ H645 now כִּי־ H3588 that אֱל֣וֹהַּ H433 that God עִוְּתָ֑נִי H5791 hath overthrown וּ֝מְצוּד֗וֹ H4686 me with his net עָלַ֥י H5921 and has הִקִּֽיף׃ H5362 me and hath compassed

⁷ הֵ֤ן H2005 Behold אֶצְעַ֣ק H6817 Behold I cry out חָ֭מָס H2555 of wrong וְלֹ֣א H3808 no אֵעָנֶ֑ה H6030 but I am not heard אֲ֝שַׁוַּ֗ע H7768 I cry aloud וְאֵ֣ין H369 there מִשְׁפָּֽט׃ H4941 but no judgment

⁸ אָרְחִ֣י H734 my way גָ֭דַר H1443 He hath fenced up וְלֹ֣א H3808 cannot אֶעֱב֑וֹר H5674 that I cannot pass וְעַ֥ל H5921 on נְ֝תִיבוֹתַ֗י H5410 in my paths חֹ֣שֶׁךְ H2822 darkness יָשִֽׂים׃ H7760 and he hath set

⁹ כְּ֭בוֹדִי H3519 me of my glory מֵעָלַ֣י H5921 and הִפְשִׁ֑יט H6584 He hath stripped וַ֝יָּ֗סַר H5493 and taken עֲטֶ֣רֶת H5850 the crown רֹאשִֽׁי׃ H7218 my head

¹⁰ יִתְּצֵ֣נִי H5422 He hath destroyed סָ֭בִיב H5439 me on every side וָאֵלַ֑ךְ H1980 am gone וַיַּסַּ֥ע H5265 hath he removed כָּ֝עֵ֗ץ H6086 like a tree תִּקְוָתִֽי׃ H8615 and mine hope

¹¹ וַיַּ֣חַר H2734 He hath also kindled עָלַ֣י H5921 against אַפּ֑וֹ H639 his wrath וַיַּחְשְׁבֵ֖נִי H2803 against me and he counteth ל֣וֹ H0 כְצָרָֽיו׃ H6862 me unto him as his enemies

¹² יַ֤חַד ׀ H3162 together יָ֘בֹ֤אוּ H935 come גְדוּדָ֗יו H1416 His troops וַיָּסֹ֣לּוּ H5549 and raise up עָלַ֣י H5921 against דַּרְכָּ֑ם H1870 their way וַיַּחֲנ֖וּ H2583 against me and encamp סָבִ֣יב H5439 round about לְאָהֳלִֽי׃ H168 my tabernacle

¹³ אַ֭חַי H251 my brethren מֵעָלַ֣י H5921 and הִרְחִ֑יק H7368 far וְ֝יֹדְעַ֗י H3045 from me and mine acquaintance אַךְ־ H389 are completely זָ֥רוּ H2114 are verily estranged מִמֶּֽנִּי׃ H4480 at

¹⁴ חָדְל֥וּ H2308 have failed קְרוֹבָ֑י H7138 My kinsfolk וּֽמְיֻדָּעַ֥י H3045 and my familiar friends שְׁכֵחֽוּנִי׃ H7911 have forgotten

¹⁵ גָּ֘רֵ֤י H1481 They that dwell בֵיתִ֣י H1004 in mine house וְ֭אַמְהֹתַי H519 and my maids לְזָ֣ר H2114 me for a stranger תַּחְשְׁבֻ֑נִי H2803 count נָ֝כְרִ֗י H5237 I am an alien הָיִ֥יתִי H1961 I am בְעֵינֵיהֶֽם׃ H5869 in their sight

¹⁶ לְעַבְדִּ֣י H5650 my servant קָ֭רָאתִי H7121 I called וְלֹ֣א H3808 does not יַעֲנֶ֑ה H6030 and he gave no answer בְּמוֹ־ H1119 him with פִ֝֗י H6310 my mouth אֶתְחַנֶּן־ H2603 I intreated לֽוֹ׃ H0

¹⁷ ר֭וּחִֽי H7307 My breath זָ֣רָה H2114 is strange לְאִשְׁתִּ֑י H802 to my wife וְ֝חַנֹּתִ֗י H2603 am loathsome לִבְנֵ֥י H1121 for the children's בִטְנִֽי׃ H990 of mine own body

¹⁸ גַּם־ H1571 Even עֲ֭וִילִים H5759 Yea young children מָ֣אֲסוּ H3988 despised בִ֑י H0 אָ֝ק֗וּמָה H6965 me I arose וַיְדַבְּרוּ־ H1696 and they spake בִֽי׃ H0

¹⁹ תִּֽ֭עֲבוּנִי H8581 abhorred כָּל־ H3605 All מְתֵ֣י H4962 friends סוֹדִ֑י H5475 All my inward וְזֶֽה־ H2088 and those אָ֝הַ֗בְתִּי H157 me and they whom I loved נֶהְפְּכוּ־ H2015 are turned בִֽי׃ H0

²³ מִֽי־ H4310 Oh יִתֵּ֣ן H5414 Oh that אֵ֭פוֹ H645 were now וְיִכָּתְב֣וּן H3789 written מִלָּ֑י H4405 my words מִֽי־ H4310 oh יִתֵּ֖ן H5414 oh that בַּסֵּ֣פֶר H5612 in a book וְיֻחָֽקוּ׃ H2710 they were printed

²⁴ בְּעֵט־ H5842 pen בַּרְזֶ֥ל H1270 with an iron וְעֹפָ֑רֶת H5777 and lead לָ֝עַ֗ד H5703 for ever בַּצּ֥וּר H6697 in the rock יֵחָצְבֽוּן׃ H2672 That they were graven

²⁵ וַאֲנִ֣י H589 I יָ֭דַעְתִּי H3045 For I know גֹּ֣אֲלִי H1350 my redeemer חָ֑י H2416 liveth וְ֝אַחֲר֗וֹן H314 at the latter עַל־ H5921 on עָפָ֥ר H6083 upon the earth יָקֽוּם׃ H6965 and he shall stand

²⁶ וְאַחַ֣ר H310 And after ע֭וֹרִֽי H5785 my skin נִקְּפוּ־ H5362 destroy זֹ֑את H2063 from וּ֝מִבְּשָׂרִ֗י H1320 this yet in my flesh אֶֽחֱזֶ֥ה H2372 shall I see אֱלֽוֹהַּ׃ H433 God

¹ וַ֭יַּעַן H6030 Then answered צֹפַ֥ר H6691 Zophar הַנַּֽעֲמָתִ֗י H5284 the Naamathite וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ H559 and said

² לָ֭כֵן H3651 Therefore שְׂעִפַּ֣י H5587 Therefore do my thoughts יְשִׁיב֑וּנִי H7725 cause me to answer וּ֝בַעֲב֗וּר H5668 because ח֣וּשִׁי H2363 and for I make haste בִֽי׃ H0

³ מוּסַ֣ר H4148 the check כְּלִמָּתִ֣י H3639 of my reproach אֶשְׁמָ֑ע H8085 I have heard וְ֝ר֗וּחַ H7307 and the spirit מִֽבִּינָתִ֥י H998 of my understanding יַעֲנֵֽנִי׃ H6030 causeth me to answer

⁴ הֲזֹ֣את H2063 you יָ֭דַעְתָּ H3045 Knowest מִנִּי־ H4480 from עַ֑ד H5703 thou this of old מִנִּ֤י H4480 From שִׂ֖ים H7760 was placed אָדָ֣ם H120 since man עֲלֵי־ H5921 on אָֽרֶץ׃ H776 upon earth

⁵ כִּ֤י H3588 That רִנְנַ֣ת H7445 That the triumphing רְ֭שָׁעִים H7563 of the wicked מִקָּר֑וֹב H7138 short וְשִׂמְחַ֖ת H8057 and the joy חָנֵ֣ף H2611 of the hypocrite עֲדֵי־ H5704 against רָֽגַע׃ H7281 instant

⁶ אִם־ H518 Though יַעֲלֶ֣ה H5927 mount up לַשָּׁמַ֣יִם H8064 to the heavens שִׂיא֑וֹ H7863 Though his excellency וְ֝רֹאשׁ֗וֹ H7218 and his head לָעָ֥ב H5645 unto the clouds יַגִּֽיעַ׃ H5060 reach

⁷ כְּֽ֭גֶלֲלוֹ H1561 like his own dung לָנֶ֣צַח H5331 for ever יֹאבֵ֑ד H6 he shall perish רֹ֝אָ֗יו H7200 they which have seen יֹאמְר֥וּ H559 him shall say אַיּֽוֹ׃ H335 Where

⁸ כַּחֲל֣וֹם H2472 as a dream יָ֭עוּף H5774 He shall fly away וְלֹ֣א H3808 cannot יִמְצָא֑וּהוּ H4672 and shall not be found וְ֝יֻדַּ֗ד H5074 yea he shall be chased away כְּחֶזְי֥וֹן H2384 as a vision לָֽיְלָה׃ H3915 of the night

⁹ עַ֣יִן H5869 The eye שְׁ֭זָפַתּוּ H7805 also saw וְלֹ֣א H3808 no תוֹסִ֑יף H3254 him shall no more וְלֹא־ H3808 no ע֝֗וֹד H5750 longer תְּשׁוּרֶ֥נּוּ H7789 any more behold מְקוֹמֽוֹ׃ H4725 neither shall his place

¹⁰ בָּ֭נָיו H1121 His children יְרַצּ֣וּ H7521 shall seek to please דַלִּ֑ים H1800 the poor וְ֝יָדָ֗יו H3027 and his hands תָּשֵׁ֥בְנָה H7725 shall restore אוֹנֽוֹ׃ H202 their goods

¹¹ עַ֭צְמוֹתָיו H6106 His bones מָלְא֣וּ H4390 are full <עֲלוּמֹו כ> (עֲלוּמָ֑יו H5934 youth ק) וְ֝עִמּ֗וֹ H5973 with עַל־ H5921 with עָפָ֥ר H6083 with him in the dust תִּשְׁכָּֽב׃ H7901 which shall lie down

¹² אִם־ H518 Though תַּמְתִּ֣יק H4985 be sweet בְּפִ֣יו H6310 in his mouth רָעָ֑ה H7451 Though wickedness יַ֝כְחִידֶ֗נָּה H3582 he hide תַּ֣חַת H8478 under לְשׁוֹנֽוֹ׃ H3956 it under his tongue

¹³ יַחְמֹ֣ל H2550 he spare עָ֭לֶיהָ H5921 and וְלֹ֣א H3808 and will not יַֽעַזְבֶ֑נָּה H5800 it and forsake וְ֝יִמְנָעֶ֗נָּה H4513 it not but keep it still בְּת֣וֹךְ H8432 within חִכּֽוֹ׃ H2441 his mouth

¹⁴ לַ֭חְמוֹ H3899 his meat בְּמֵעָ֣יו H4578 in his bowels נֶהְפָּ֑ךְ H2015 is turned מְרוֹרַ֖ת H4846 the gall פְּתָנִ֣ים H6620 of asps בְּקִרְבּֽוֹ׃ H7130 within

¹⁵ חַ֣יִל H2428 riches בָּ֭לַע H1104 He hath swallowed down וַיְקִאֶ֑נּוּ H6958 and he shall vomit them up again מִ֝בִּטְנ֗וֹ H990 of his belly יֽוֹרִשֶׁ֥נּוּ H3423 shall cast them out אֵֽל׃ H410 God

¹⁶ רֹאשׁ־ H7219 the poison פְּתָנִ֥ים H6620 of asps יִינָ֑ק H3243 He shall suck תַּֽ֝הַרְגֵ֗הוּ H2026 shall slay לְשׁ֣וֹן H3956 tongue אֶפְעֶֽה׃ H660 the viper's

¹⁷ אַל־ H408 does not יֵ֥רֶא H7200 He shall not see בִפְלַגּ֑וֹת H6390 the rivers נַהֲרֵ֥י H5104 the floods נַ֝חֲלֵ֗י H5158 the brooks דְּבַ֣שׁ H1706 of honey וְחֶמְאָֽה׃ H2529 and butter

¹⁸ מֵשִׁ֣יב H7725 for shall he restore יָ֭גָע H3022 That which he laboured וְלֹ֣א H3808 and cannot יִבְלָ֑ע H1104 and shall not swallow down כְּחֵ֥יל H2428 according to substance תְּ֝מוּרָת֗וֹ H8545 the restitution וְלֹ֣א H3808 cannot יַעֲלֹֽס׃ H5965 and he shall not rejoice

¹⁹ כִּֽי־ H3588 for רִ֭צַּץ H7533 Because he hath oppressed עָזַ֣ב H5800 hath forsaken דַּלִּ֑ים H1800 the poor בַּ֥יִת H1004 an house גָּ֝זַ֗ל H1497 he hath violently taken away וְלֹ֣א H3808 has not יִבֶנֵֽהוּ׃ H1129 which he builded

²⁰ כִּ֤י ׀ H3588 Because לֹא־ H3808 no יָדַ֣ע H3045 Surely he shall not feel שָׁלֵ֣ו H7961 quietness בְּבִטְנ֑וֹ H990 in his belly בַּ֝חֲמוּד֗וֹ H2530 of that which he desired לֹ֣א H3808 no יְמַלֵּֽט׃ H4422 he shall not save

²¹ אֵין־ H369 Nothing שָׂרִ֥יד H8300 be left לְאָכְל֑וֹ H400 There shall none of his meat עַל־ H5921 and כֵּ֝֗ן H3651 after that לֹא־ H3808 does not יָחִ֥יל H2342 therefore shall no man look טוּבֽוֹ׃ H2898 for his goods

²² בִּמְלֹ֣אות H4390 the fullness שִׂ֭פְקוֹ H5607 of his sufficiency יֵ֣צֶר H3334 he shall be in straits ל֑וֹ H0 כָּל־ H3605 of everyone יַ֖ד H3027 every hand עָמֵ֣ל H6001 of the wicked תְּבוֹאֶֽנּוּ׃ H935 shall come

²³ יְהִ֤י ׀ H1961 become לְמַלֵּ֬א H4390 he is about to fill בִטְנ֗וֹ H990 his belly יְֽשַׁלַּח־ H7971 shall cast בּ֭וֹ H0 חֲר֣וֹן H2740 the fury אַפּ֑וֹ H639 of his wrath וְיַמְטֵ֥ר H4305 upon him and shall rain עָ֝לֵ֗ימוֹ H5921 and בִּלְחוּמֽוֹ׃ H3894 upon him while he is eating

²⁴ יִ֭בְרַח H1272 He shall flee מִנֵּ֣שֶׁק H5402 weapon בַּרְזֶ֑ל H1270 from the iron תַּ֝חְלְפֵ֗הוּ H2498 shall strike him through קֶ֣שֶׁת H7198 the bow נְחוּשָֽׁה׃ H5154 of steel

²⁵ שָׁלַף֮ H8025 It is drawn וַיֵּצֵ֪א H3318 and cometh out מִגֵּ֫וָ֥ה H1465 of the body וּ֭בָרָק H1300 yea the glittering sword מִֽמְּרֹרָת֥וֹ H4846 of his gall יַהֲלֹ֗ךְ H1980 cometh out עָלָ֥יו H5921 and אֵמִֽים׃ H367 terrors

²⁶ כָּל־ H3605 Complete חֹשֶׁךְ֮ H2822 All darkness טָמ֪וּן H2934 hid לִצְפּ֫וּנָ֥יו H6845 in his secret places תְּ֭אָכְלֵהוּ H398 shall consume אֵ֣שׁ H784 a fire לֹֽא־ H3808 not נֻפָּ֑ח H5301 not blown יֵ֖רַע H3415 him it shall go ill שָׂרִ֣יד H8300 with him that is left בְּאָהֳלֽוֹ׃ H168 in his tabernacle

²⁷ יְגַלּ֣וּ H1540 shall reveal שָׁמַ֣יִם H8064 The heaven עֲוֹנ֑וֹ H5771 his iniquity וְ֝אֶ֗רֶץ H776 and the earth מִתְקוֹמָ֘מָ֥ה H6965 shall rise up לֽוֹ׃ H0

²⁸ יִ֭גֶל H1540 shall depart יְב֣וּל H2981 The increase בֵּית֑וֹ H1004 of his house נִ֝גָּר֗וֹת H5064 shall flow away בְּי֣וֹם H3117 in the day אַפּֽוֹ׃ H639 of his wrath

² שִׁמְע֣וּ H8085 Hear שָׁ֭מוֹעַ H8085 diligently מִלָּתִ֑י H4405 my speech וּתְהִי־ H1961 become זֹ֝֗את H2063 likewise תַּנְח֥וּמֹֽתֵיכֶֽם׃ H8575 and let this be your consolations

³ שָׂ֭אוּנִי H5375 Suffer וְאָנֹכִ֣י H595 I אֲדַבֵּ֑ר H1696 me that I may speak וְאַחַ֖ר H310 and after דַּבְּרִ֣י H1696 that I have spoken תַלְעִֽיג׃ H3932 mock on

² הַלְאֵ֥ל H410 unto God יִסְכָּן־ H5532 be profitable גָּ֑בֶר H1397 Can a man כִּֽי־ H3588 as יִסְכֹּ֖ן H5532 may be profitable עָלֵ֣ימוֹ H5921 and מַשְׂכִּֽיל׃ H7919 he that is wise

³ הַחֵ֣פֶץ H2656 any pleasure לְ֭שַׁדַּי H7706 to the Almighty כִּ֣י H3588 if תִצְדָּ֑ק H6663 that thou art righteous וְאִם־ H518 Or בֶּ֝֗צַע H1215 ? or gain כִּֽי־ H3588 if תַתֵּ֥ם H8552 perfect דְּרָכֶֽיךָ׃ H1870 that thou makest thy ways

⁴ הֲֽ֭מִיִּרְאָ֣תְךָ H3374 thee for fear יֹכִיחֶ֑ךָ H3198 Will he reprove יָב֥וֹא H935 of thee? will he enter עִ֝מְּךָ֗ H5973 against בַּמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃ H4941 judgment

⁵ הֲלֹ֣א H3808 not רָעָֽתְךָ֣ H7451 not thy wickedness רַבָּ֑ה H7227 great וְאֵֽין־ H369 without קֵ֝֗ץ H7093 after לַעֲוֹנֹתֶֽיךָ׃ H5771 and your iniquities

⁶ כִּֽי־ H3588 for תַחְבֹּ֣ל H2254 For thou hast taken a pledge אַחֶ֣יךָ H251 from thy brother חִנָּ֑ם H2600 for nought וּבִגְדֵ֖י H899 of their clothing עֲרוּמִּ֣ים H6174 the naked תַּפְשִֽׁיט׃ H6584 and stripped

⁷ לֹא־ H3808 no מַ֭יִם H4325 Thou hast not given water עָיֵ֣ף H5889 to the weary תַּשְׁקֶ֑ה H8248 to drink וּ֝מֵרָעֵ֗ב H7456 famish תִּֽמְנַֽע־ H4513 and thou hast withholden לָֽחֶם׃ H3899 bread

⁸ וְאִ֣ישׁ H376 man זְ֭רוֹעַ H2220 But the mighty ל֣וֹ H0 הָאָ֑רֶץ H776 he had the earth וּנְשׂ֥וּא H5375 accept פָ֝נִ֗ים H6440 accept יֵ֣שֶׁב H3427 dwelt בָּֽהּ׃ H0

⁹ אַ֭לְמָנוֹת H490 widows שִׁלַּ֣חְתָּ H7971 Thou hast sent רֵיקָ֑ם H7387 away empty וּזְרֹע֖וֹת H2220 and the arms יְתֹמִ֣ים H3490 of the fatherless יְדֻכָּֽא׃ H1792 have been broken

¹⁰ עַל־ H5921 and כֵּ֭ן H3651 after that סְבִיבוֹתֶ֣יךָ H5439 round about פַחִ֑ים H6341 Therefore snares וִֽ֝יבַהֶלְךָ H926 troubleth פַּ֣חַד H6343 fear פִּתְאֹֽם׃ H6597 thee and sudden

¹¹ אוֹ־ H176 Or חֹ֥שֶׁךְ H2822 Or darkness לֹֽא־ H3808 you cannot תִרְאֶ֑ה H7200 thou canst not see וְֽשִׁפְעַת־ H8229 and abundance מַ֥יִם H4325 of waters תְּכַסֶּֽךָּ׃ H3680 cover

¹² הֲ‍ֽלֹא־ H3808 is not אֱ֭לוֹהַּ H433 not God גֹּ֣בַהּ H1363 in the height שָׁמָ֑יִם H8064 air וּרְאֵ֤ה H7200 advise self רֹ֖אשׁ H7218 the height כּוֹכָבִ֣ים H3556 of the stars כִּי־ H3588 how רָֽמּוּ׃ H7311 how high

¹³ וְֽ֭אָמַרְתָּ H559 And thou sayest מַה־ H4100 What יָּ֣דַֽע H3045 know אֵ֑ל H410 How doth God הַבְעַ֖ד H1157 through עֲרָפֶ֣ל H6205 the thick יִשְׁפּֽוֹט׃ H8199 ? can he judge

¹⁴ עָבִ֣ים H5645 Thick clouds סֵֽתֶר־ H5643 a covering ל֭וֹ H0 וְלֹ֣א H3808 cannot יִרְאֶ֑ה H7200 to him that he seeth וְח֥וּג H2329 in the circuit שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם H8064 of heaven יִתְהַלָּֽךְ׃ H1980 not and he walketh

¹⁵ הַאֹ֣רַח H734 way עוֹלָ֣ם H5769 the old תִּשְׁמֹ֑ר H8104 Hast thou marked אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 Which דָּרְכ֣וּ H1869 have trodden מְתֵי־ H4962 men אָֽוֶן׃ H205 which wicked

¹⁷ הָאֹמְרִ֣ים H559 Which said לָ֭אֵל H410 unto God ס֣וּר H5493 Depart מִמֶּ֑נּוּ H4480 us' וּמַה־ H4100 and What יִּפְעַ֖ל H6466 do שַׁדַּ֣י H7706 from us and what can the Almighty לָֽמוֹ׃ H0

¹⁸ וְה֤וּא H1931 He מִלֵּ֣א H4390 Yet he filled בָתֵּיהֶ֣ם H1004 their houses ט֑וֹב H2896 with good וַעֲצַ֥ת H6098 but the counsel רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים H7563 of the wicked רָ֣חֲקָה H7368 is far מֶֽנִּי׃ H4480 at

¹⁹ יִרְא֣וּ H7200 see צַדִּיקִ֣ים H6662 The righteous וְיִשְׂמָ֑חוּ H8055 and are glad וְ֝נָקִ֗י H5355 and the innocent יִלְעַג־ H3932 laugh them to scorn לָֽמוֹ׃ H0

²⁰ אִם־ H518 Whereas לֹ֣א H3808 not נִכְחַ֣ד H3582 is not cut down קִימָ֑נוּ H7009 our substance וְ֝יִתְרָ֗ם H3499 but the remnant אָ֣כְלָה H398 consumeth אֵֽשׁ׃ H784 of them the fire

²¹ הַסְכֶּן־ H5532 Acquaint נָ֣א H4994 now עִמּ֑וֹ H5973 and be at וּשְׁלם H7999 now thyself with him and be at peace בָּ֝הֶ֗ם H0 תְּֽבוֹאַתְךָ֥ H935 shall come טוֹבָֽה׃ H2896 thereby good

²⁴ עָפָ֥ר H6083 dust בָּ֑צֶר H1220 gold וּבְצ֖וּר H6697 as the stones נְחָלִ֣ים H5158 of the brooks אוֹפִֽיר׃ H211 and the of Ophir

²⁵ וְהָיָ֣ה H1961 Then שַׁדַּ֣י H7706 Yea the Almighty בְּצָרֶ֑יךָ H1220 shall be thy defence וְכֶ֖סֶף H3701 of silver תּוֹעָפ֣וֹת H8443 and thou shalt have plenty לָֽךְ׃ H0

²⁶ כִּי־ H3588 For אָ֭ז H227 then עַל־ H5921 in שַׁדַּ֣י H7706 in the Almighty תִּתְעַנָּ֑ג H6026 For then shalt thou have thy delight וְתִשָּׂ֖א H5375 and shalt lift up אֶל־ H413 to אֱל֣וֹהַּ H433 unto God פָּנֶֽיךָ׃ H6440 thy face

²⁷ תַּעְתִּ֣יר H6279 Thou shalt make thy prayer אֵ֭לָיו H413 to him וְיִשְׁמָעֶ֑ךָּ H8085 unto him and he shall hear וּנְדָרֶ֥יךָ H5088 thy vows תְשַׁלֵּֽם׃ H7999 thee and thou shalt pay

²⁸ וְֽתִגְזַר־ H1504 Thou shalt also decree א֭וֹמֶר H562 a thing וְיָ֣קָם H6965 and it shall be established לָ֑ךְ H0 וְעַל־ H5921 on דְּ֝רָכֶ֗יךָ H1870 upon thy ways נָ֣גַֽהּ H5050 shall shine אֽוֹר׃ H216 unto thee and the light

²⁹ כִּֽי־ H3588 When הִ֭שְׁפִּילוּ H8213 When are cast down וַתֹּ֣אמֶר H559 then thou shalt say גֵּוָ֑ה H1466 lifting up וְשַׁ֖ח H7807 the humble עֵינַ֣יִם H5869 person יוֹשִֽׁעַ׃ H3467 and he shall save

² גַּם־ H1571 Even הַ֭יּוֹם H3117 Even to day מְרִ֣י H4805 bitter שִׂחִ֑י H7879 my complaint יָ֝דִ֗י H3027 my stroke כָּבְדָ֥ה H3513 is heavier עַל־ H5921 despite אַנְחָתִֽי׃ H585 than my groaning

³ מִֽי־ H4310 Oh יִתֵּ֣ן H5414 Oh that יָ֭דַעְתִּי H3045 I knew וְאֶמְצָאֵ֑הוּ H4672 where I might find אָ֝ב֗וֹא H935 him I might come עַד־ H5704 against תְּכוּנָתֽוֹ׃ H8499 to his seat

⁴ אֶעֶרְכָ֣ה H6186 I would order לְפָנָ֣יו H6440 before מִשְׁפָּ֑ט H4941 cause וּ֝פִ֗י H6310 my mouth אֲמַלֵּ֥א H4390 him and fill תוֹכָחֽוֹת׃ H8433 with arguments

⁵ אֵ֭דְעָה H3045 I would know מִלִּ֣ים H4405 the words יַעֲנֵ֑נִי H6030 he would answer וְ֝אָבִ֗ינָה H995 me and understand מַה־ H4100 what יֹּ֥אמַר H559 what he would say לִֽי׃ H0

⁶ הַבְּרָב־ H7227 in abundance כֹּ֭חַ H3581 ability יָרִ֣יב H7378 Will he plead עִמָּדִ֑י H5978 against לֹ֥א H3808 not אַךְ־ H389 surely ה֝֗וּא H1931 he יָשִׂ֥ם H7760 pay בִּֽי׃ H0

⁷ שָׁ֗ם H8033 There יָ֭שָׁר H3477 There the righteous נוֹכָ֣ח H3198 might dispute עִמּ֑וֹ H5973 and I וַאֲפַלְּטָ֥ה H6403 with him so should I be delivered לָ֝נֶ֗צַח H5331 for ever מִשֹּׁפְטִֽי׃ H8199 from my judge

⁸ הֵ֤ן H2005 Behold קֶ֣דֶם H6924 forward אֶהֱלֹ֣ךְ H1980 Behold I go וְאֵינֶ֑נּוּ H369 else וְ֝אָח֗וֹר H268 but he not and backward וְֽלֹא־ H3808 cannot אָבִ֥ין H995 but I cannot perceive לֽוֹ׃ H0

⁹ שְׂמֹ֣אול H8040 On the left hand בַּעֲשֹׂת֣וֹ H6213 where he doth work וְלֹא־ H3808 cannot אָ֑חַז H2372 but I cannot behold יַעְטֹ֥ף H5848 he hideth יָ֝מִ֗ין H3225 himself on the right hand וְלֹ֣א H3808 cannot אֶרְאֶֽה׃ H7200 that I cannot see

¹⁰ כִּֽי־ H3588 for יָ֭דַע H3045 But he knoweth דֶּ֣רֶךְ H1870 the way עִמָּדִ֑י H5978 that I take בְּ֝חָנַ֗נִי H974 he hath tried כַּזָּהָ֥ב H2091 as gold אֵצֵֽא׃ H3318 me I shall come forth

³ הֲיֵ֣שׁ H3426 Is there מִ֭סְפָּר H4557 any number לִגְדוּדָ֑יו H1416 army וְעַל־ H5921 and מִ֝֗י H4310 any לֹא־ H3808 not יָק֥וּם H6965 arise אוֹרֵֽהוּ׃ H216 his light

¹⁴ אִם־ H518 Though יִרְבּ֣וּ H7235 be multiplied בָנָ֣יו H1121 If his children לְמוֹ־ H3926 for חָ֑רֶב H2719 the sword וְ֝צֶאֱצָאָ֗יו H6631 and his offspring לֹ֣א H3808 not יִשְׂבְּעוּ־ H7646 shall not be satisfied לָֽחֶם׃ H3899 with bread

¹⁸ רָאמ֣וֹת H7215 shall be made of coral וְ֭גָבִישׁ H1378 or of pearls לֹ֣א H3808 are not יִזָּכֵ֑ר H2142 No mention וּמֶ֥שֶׁךְ H4901 for the price חָ֝כְמָ֗ה H2451 of wisdom מִפְּנִינִֽים׃ H6443 above rubies

¹⁹ לֹֽא־ H3808 cannot יַ֭עַרְכֶנָּה H6186 shall not equal פִּטְדַת־ H6357 The topaz כּ֑וּשׁ H3568 of Ethiopia בְּכֶ֥תֶם H3800 gold טָ֝ה֗וֹר H2889 with pure לֹ֣א H3808 Nor תְסֻלֶּֽה׃ H5541 it neither shall it be valued פ

²⁰ וְֽ֭הַחָכְמָה H2451 wisdom מֵאַ֣יִן H370 Whence תָּב֑וֹא H935 then cometh וְאֵ֥י H335 and where זֶ֝֗ה H2088 he מְק֣וֹם H4725 is the place בִּינָֽה׃ H998 knowledge

²⁴ כִּי־ H3588 for ה֭וּא H1931 he לִקְצוֹת־ H7098 to the ends הָאָ֣רֶץ H776 of the earth יַבִּ֑יט H5027 For he looketh תַּ֖חַת H8478 under כָּל־ H3605 everything הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם H8064 under the whole heaven יִרְאֶֽה׃ H7200 seeth

²⁵ לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת H6213 To make לָר֣וּחַ H7307 for the winds מִשְׁקָ֑ל H4948 the weight וּ֝מַ֗יִם H4325 the waters תִּכֵּ֥ן H8505 and he weigheth בְּמִדָּֽה׃ H4060 by measure

³ בְּהִלּ֣וֹ H1984 shined נֵ֭רוֹ H5216 When his candle עֲלֵ֣י H5921 over רֹאשִׁ֑י H7218 upon my head לְ֝אוֹרוֹ H216 by his light אֵ֣לֶךְ H1980 walked חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃ H2822 darkness

⁸ רָא֣וּנִי H7200 saw נְעָרִ֣ים H5288 The young men וְנֶחְבָּ֑אוּ H2244 me and hid וִֽ֝ישִׁישִׁים H3453 themselves and the aged קָ֣מוּ H6965 arose עָמָֽדוּ׃ H5975 stood up

⁹ שָׂ֭רִים H8269 The princes עָצְר֣וּ H6113 refrained בְמִלִּ֑ים H4405 talking וְ֝כַ֗ף H3709 hand יָשִׂ֥ימוּ H7760 and laid לְפִיהֶֽם׃ H6310 on their mouth

¹³ בִּרְכַּ֣ת H1293 The blessing אֹ֭בֵד H6 of him that was ready to perish עָלַ֣י H5921 and תָּבֹ֑א H935 came וְלֵ֖ב H3820 heart אַלְמָנָ֣ה H490 upon me and I caused the widow's אַרְנִֽן׃ H7442 to sing for joy

¹⁷ וָֽ֭אֲשַׁבְּרָה H7665 And I brake מְתַלְּע֣וֹת H4973 the jaws עַוָּ֑ל H5767 of the wicked וּ֝מִשִּׁנָּ֗יו H8127 out of his teeth אַשְׁלִ֥יךְ H7993 and plucked טָֽרֶף׃ H2964 the spoil

¹⁸ וָ֭אֹמַר H559 Then I said עִם־ H5973 in קִנִּ֣י H7064 in my nest אֶגְוָ֑ע H1478 I shall die וְ֝כַח֗וֹל H2344 as the sand אַרְבֶּ֥ה H7235 and I shall multiply יָמִֽים׃ H3117 days

¹⁹ שָׁרְשִׁ֣י H8328 My root פָת֣וּחַ H6605 spread out אֱלֵי־ H413 to מָ֑יִם H4325 by the waters וְ֝טַ֗ל H2919 and the dew יָלִ֥ין H3885 lay all night בִּקְצִירִֽי׃ H7105 upon my branch

²⁰ כְּ֭בוֹדִי H3519 My glory חָדָ֣שׁ H2319 fresh עִמָּדִ֑י H5978 in me וְ֝קַשְׁתִּ֗י H7198 and my bow בְּיָדִ֥י H3027 in my hand תַחֲלִֽיף׃ H2498 was renewed

²⁴ אֶשְׂחַ֣ק H7832 I laughed אֲ֭לֵהֶם H413 about לֹ֣א H3808 did not יַאֲמִ֑ינוּ H539 on them they believed וְא֥וֹר H216 not and the light פָּ֝נַ֗י H6440 of my countenance לֹ֣א H3808 did not יַפִּילֽוּן׃ H5307 they cast not down

²⁵ אֶֽבֲחַ֣ר H977 I chose דַּרְכָּם֮ H1870 out their way וְאֵשֵׁ֪ב H3427 and sat רֹ֥אשׁ H7218 chief וְ֭אֶשְׁכּוֹן H7931 and dwelt כְּמֶ֣לֶךְ H4428 as a king בַּגְּד֑וּד H1416 in the army כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 after אֲבֵלִ֣ים H57 the mourners יְנַחֵֽם׃ H5162 as one comforteth

³ בְּחֶ֥סֶר H2639 For want וּבְכָפָ֗ן H3720 and famine גַּ֫לְמ֥וּד H1565 solitary הַֽעֹרְקִ֥ים H6207 fleeing צִיָּ֑ה H6723 into the wilderness אֶ֝֗מֶשׁ H570 in former time שׁוֹאָ֥ה H7722 desolate וּמְשֹׁאָֽה׃ H4875 and waste

⁴ הַקֹּטְפִ֣ים H6998 Who cut up מַלּ֣וּחַ H4408 mallows עֲלֵי־ H5921 by שִׂ֑יחַ H7880 by the bushes וְשֹׁ֖רֶשׁ H8328 roots רְתָמִ֣ים H7574 and juniper לַחְמָֽם׃ H3899 their meat

⁵ מִן־ H4480 from גֵּ֥ו H1460 from among יְגֹרָ֑שׁוּ H1644 They were driven forth יָרִ֥יעוּ H7321 (they cried עָ֝לֵ֗ימוֹ H5921 against כַּגַּנָּֽב׃ H1590 as a thief

⁶ בַּעֲר֣וּץ H6178 in the clifts נְחָלִ֣ים H5158 of the valleys לִשְׁכֹּ֑ן H7931 To dwell חֹרֵ֖י H2356 caves עָפָ֣ר H6083 of the earth וְכֵפִֽים׃ H3710 and the rocks

⁷ בֵּין־ H996 Among שִׂיחִ֥ים H7880 Among the bushes יִנְהָ֑קוּ H5101 they brayed תַּ֖חַת H8478 Under חָר֣וּל H2738 under the nettles יְסֻפָּֽחוּ׃ H5596 they were gathered together

⁸ בְּֽנֵי־ H1121 children נָ֭בָל H5036 of fools גַּם־ H1571 even בְּנֵ֣י H1121 yea children בְלִי־ H1097 without שֵׁ֑ם H8034 of base men נִ֝כְּא֗וּ H5217 they were viler מִן־ H4480 from הָאָֽרֶץ׃ H776 than the earth

⁹ וְ֭עַתָּה H6258 and now נְגִינָתָ֣ם H5058 And now am I their song הָיִ֑יתִי H1961 have become וָאֱהִ֖י H1961 become לָהֶ֣ם H1992 like לְמִלָּֽה׃ H4405 yea I am their byword

¹⁰ תִּֽ֭עֲבוּנִי H8581 They abhor רָ֣חֲקוּ H7368 me they flee far מֶ֑נִּי H4480 at וּ֝מִפָּנַ֗י H6440 in my face לֹא־ H3808 not חָ֥שְׂכוּ H2820 from me and spare רֹֽק׃ H7536 not to spit

¹¹ כִּֽי־ H3588 Because <יִתְרֹו כ> (יִתְרִ֣י H3499 abundant ק) פִ֭תַּח H6605 Because he hath loosed וַיְעַנֵּ֑נִי H6031 and afflicted וְ֝רֶ֗סֶן H7448 the bridle מִפָּנַ֥י H6440 before שִׁלֵּֽחוּ׃ H7971 me they have also let loose

¹³ נָתְס֗וּ H5420 They mar נְֽתִיבָ֫תִ֥י H5410 my path לְהַוָּתִֽי H1942 my destruction יֹעִ֑ילוּ H3276 they set forward לֹ֖א H3808 No עֹזֵ֣ר H5826 they have no helper לָֽמוֹ׃ H0

¹⁴ כְּפֶ֣רֶץ H6556 breaking רָחָ֣ב H7342 as a wide יֶאֱתָ֑יוּ H857 They came תַּ֥חַת H8478 in in שֹׁ֝אָ֗ה H7722 the desolation הִתְגַּלְגָּֽלוּ׃ H1556 they rolled

¹⁵ הָהְפַּ֥ךְ H2015 are turned עָלַ֗י H5921 against בַּלָּ֫ה֥וֹת H1091 Terrors תִּרְדֹּ֣ף H7291 upon me they pursue כָּ֭רוּחַ H7307 as the wind נְדִבָתִ֑י H5082 my soul וּ֝כְעָ֗ב H5645 as a cloud עָבְרָ֥ה H5674 passeth away יְשֻׁעָתִֽי׃ H3444 and my welfare

¹⁷ לַ֗יְלָה H3915 in me in the night season עֲ֭צָמַי H6106 My bones נִקַּ֣ר H5365 are pierced מֵעָלָ֑י H5921 and וְ֝עֹרְקַ֗י H6207 and my sinews לֹ֣א H3808 no יִשְׁכָּבֽוּן׃ H7901 take no rest

¹⁸ בְּרָב־ H7227 in abundance כֹּ֭חַ H3581 force יִתְחַפֵּ֣שׂ H2664 changed לְבוּשִׁ֑י H3830 is my garment כְּפִ֖י H6310 as the collar כֻתָּנְתִּ֣י H3801 of my coat יַֽאַזְרֵֽנִי׃ H247 it bindeth me about

¹⁹ הֹרָ֥נִי H3384 He hath cast לַחֹ֑מֶר H2563 me into the mire וָ֝אֶתְמַשֵּׁ֗ל H4911 and I am become like כֶּעָפָ֥ר H6083 dust וָאֵֽפֶר׃ H665 and ashes

²² תִּשָּׂאֵ֣נִי H5375 Thou liftest me up אֶל־ H413 to ר֭וּחַ H7307 to the wind תַּרְכִּיבֵ֑נִי H7392 thou causest me to ride וּ֝תְמֹגְגֵ֗נִי H4127 and dissolvest <תְּשֻׁוֶּה כ> (תּוּשִׁיָּֽה׃ H7738 substance ק)

²³ כִּֽי־ H3588 for יָ֭דַעְתִּי H3045 For I know מָ֣וֶת H4194 me death תְּשִׁיבֵ֑נִי H7725 thou wilt bring וּבֵ֖ית H1004 and the house מוֹעֵ֣ד H4150 appointed לְכָל־ H3605 for all חָֽי׃ H2416 for all living

²⁴ אַ֣ךְ H389 Yet לֹא־ H3808 not בְ֭עִי H1164 to the grave יִשְׁלַח־ H7971 Howbeit he will not stretch out יָ֑ד H3027 hand אִם־ H518 Or בְּ֝פִיד֗וֹ H6365 in his destruction לָהֶ֥ן H3861 but שֽׁוּעַ׃ H7769 though they cry

²⁵ אִם־ H518 lo לֹ֣א H3808 not בָ֭כִיתִי H1058 Did not I weep לִקְשֵׁה־ H7186 churlish י֑וֹם H3117 life עָֽגְמָ֥ה H5701 grieved נַ֝פְשִׁ֗י H5315 any לָאֶבְיֽוֹן׃ H34 to the poor

²⁸ קֹדֵ֣ר H6937 mourning הִ֭לַּכְתִּי H1980 I went בְּלֹ֣א H3808 without חַמָּ֑ה H2535 without the sun קַ֖מְתִּי H6965 I stood up בַקָּהָ֣ל H6951 in the congregation אֲשַׁוֵּֽעַ׃ H7768 I cried

²⁹ אָ֭ח H251 I am a brother הָיִ֣יתִי H1961 have become לְתַנִּ֑ים H8577 to dragons וְ֝רֵ֗עַ H7453 and a companion לִבְנ֥וֹת H1323 first יַעֲנָֽה׃ H3284 owl

¹⁸ כִּ֣י H3588 from מִ֭נְּעוּרַי H5271 (For from my youth גְּדֵלַ֣נִי H1431 he was brought up כְאָ֑ב H1 with me as a father וּמִבֶּ֖טֶן H990 belly אִמִּ֣י H517 her from my mother's אַנְחֶֽנָּה׃ H5148 and I have guided

²⁹ אִם־ H518 lo אֶ֭שְׂמַח H8055 If I rejoiced בְּפִ֣יד H6365 at the destruction מְשַׂנְאִ֑י H8130 of him that hated וְ֝הִתְעֹרַ֗רְתִּי H5782 me or lifted up כִּֽי־ H3588 when מְצָ֥אוֹ H4672 found רָֽע׃ H7451 myself when evil

³⁰ וְלֹא־ H3808 No נָתַ֣תִּי H5414 Neither have I suffered לַחֲטֹ֣א H2398 to sin חִכִּ֑י H2441 my mouth לִשְׁאֹ֖ל H7592 by wishing בְּאָלָ֣ה H423 a curse נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃ H5315 to his soul

³⁵ מִ֤י H4310 I יִתֶּן־ H5414 Oh that לִ֨י ׀ H0 שֹׁ֘מֵ֤עַֽ H8085 one would hear לִ֗י H0 הֶן־ H2005 Behold תָּ֭וִי H8420 me behold my desire שַׁדַּ֣י H7706 the Almighty יַעֲנֵ֑נִי H6030 would answer וְסֵ֥פֶר H5612 a book כָּ֝תַ֗ב H3789 had written אִ֣ישׁ H376 which רִיבִֽי׃ H7379 my adversary

³⁶ אִם־ H518 lo לֹ֣א H3808 not עַל־ H5921 on שִׁ֭כְמִי H7926 it upon my shoulder אֶשָּׂאֶ֑נּוּ H5375 Surely I would take אֶֽעֶנְדֶ֖נּוּ H6029 bind עֲטָר֣וֹת H5850 it a crown לִֽי׃ H0

³⁷ מִסְפַּ֣ר H4557 unto him the number צְ֭עָדַי H6806 of my steps אַגִּידֶ֑נּוּ H5046 I would declare כְּמוֹ־ H3644 Like נָ֝גִ֗יד H5057 as a prince אֲקָרֲבֶֽנּוּ׃ H7126 would I go near

¹ וַֽיִּשְׁבְּת֡וּ H7673 ceased שְׁלֹ֤שֶׁת H7969 So these three הָאֲנָשִׁ֣ים H582 men הָ֭אֵלֶּה H428 these מֵעֲנ֣וֹת H6030 to answer אֶת־ H853 אִיּ֑וֹב H347 Job כִּ֤י H3588 because ה֖וּא H1931 he צַדִּ֣יק H6662 because he righteous בְּעֵינָֽיו׃ H5869 in his own eyes פ

² וַיִּ֤חַר H2734 Then was kindled אַ֨ף ׀ H639 the wrath אֱלִיה֣וּא H453 of Elihu בֶן־ H1121 the son בַּרַכְאֵ֣ל H1292 of Barachel הַבּוּזִי֮ H940 the Buzite מִמִּשְׁפַּ֪חַ֫ת H4940 of the kindred רָ֥ם H7410 of Ram בְּ֭אִיּוֹב H347 against Job חָרָ֣ה H2734 kindled אַפּ֑וֹ H639 was his wrath עַֽל־ H5921 because צַדְּק֥וֹ H6663 because he justified נַ֝פְשׁ֗וֹ H5315 himself מֵאֱלֹהִֽים׃ H430 rather than God

³ וּבִשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת H7969 Also against his three רֵעָיו֮ H7453 friends חָרָ֪ה H2734 kindled אַ֫פּ֥וֹ H639 was his wrath עַ֤ל H5921 and אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 after לֹא־ H3808 no מָצְא֣וּ H4672 because they had found מַעֲנֶ֑ה H4617 no answer וַ֝יַּרְשִׁ֗יעוּ H7561 and had condemned אֶת־ H853 אִיּֽוֹב׃ H347 Job

⁴ וֶֽאֱלִיה֗וּ H453 Now Elihu חִכָּ֣ה H2442 had waited אֶת־ H853 אִ֭יּוֹב H347 till Job בִּדְבָרִ֑ים H1697 had spoken כִּ֤י H3588 because זְֽקֵנִים־ H2205 older הֵ֖מָּה H1992 like מִמֶּ֣נּוּ H4480 than לְיָמִֽים׃ H3117 were years

⁶ וַיַּ֤עַן ׀ H6030 answered אֱלִיה֖וּא H453 And Elihu בֶן־ H1121 the son בַּֽרַכְאֵ֥ל H1292 of Barachel הַבּוּזִ֗י H940 the Buzite וַיֹּ֫אמַ֥ר H559 and said צָ֘עִ֤יר H6810 I am young אֲנִ֣י H589 in לְ֭יָמִים H3117 years וְאַתֶּ֣ם H859 and you יְשִׁישִׁ֑ים H3453 and ye very old עַל־ H5921 and כֵּ֖ן H3651 after that זָחַ֥לְתִּי H2119 wherefore I was afraid וָֽאִירָ֓א ׀ H3372 and durst מֵחַוֹּ֖ת H2331 not shew דֵּעִ֣י H1843 you mine opinion אֶתְכֶֽם׃ H853

⁷ אָ֭מַרְתִּי H559 I said יָמִ֣ים H3117 Days יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ H1696 should speak וְרֹ֥ב H7230 and multitude שָׁ֝נִ֗ים H8141 of years יֹדִ֥יעוּ H3045 should teach חָכְמָֽה׃ H2451 wisdom

⁸ אָ֭כֵן H403 But רֽוּחַ־ H7307 a spirit הִ֣יא H1931 he בֶאֱנ֑וֹשׁ H582 in man וְנִשְׁמַ֖ת H5397 and the inspiration שַׁדַּ֣י H7706 of the Almighty תְּבִינֵֽם׃ H995 giveth them understanding

⁹ לֹֽא־ H3808 Nor רַבִּ֥ים H7227 Great men יֶחְכָּ֑מוּ H2449 are not wise וּ֝זְקֵנִ֗ים H2205 neither do the aged יָבִ֥ינוּ H995 understand מִשְׁפָּֽט׃ H4941 judgment

¹⁰ לָכֵ֣ן H3651 So אָ֭מַרְתִּי H559 Therefore I said שִׁמְעָה־ H8085 Hearken לִּ֑י H0 אֲחַוֶּ֖ה H2331 to me I also will shew דֵּעִ֣י H1843 mine opinion אַף־ H637 too אָֽנִי׃ H589 I

¹¹ הֵ֤ן H2005 Behold הוֹחַ֨לְתִּי H3176 Behold I waited לְֽדִבְרֵיכֶ֗ם H1697 for your words אָ֭זִין H238 I gave ear עַד־ H5704 While תְּב֥וּנֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם H8394 to your reasons עַֽד־ H5704 While תַּחְקְר֥וּן H2713 whilst ye searched out מִלִּֽין׃ H4405 what to say

¹² וְעָֽדֵיכֶ֗ם H5704 even אֶתְבּ֫וֹנָ֥ן H995 Yea I attended וְהִנֵּ֤ה H2009 Indeed אֵ֣ין H369 there לְאִיּ֣וֹב H347 Job מוֹכִ֑יחַ H3198 unto you and behold none of you that convinced עוֹנֶ֖ה H6030 that answered אֲמָרָ֣יו H561 his words מִכֶּֽם׃ H4480 at

¹³ פֶּן־ H6435 not תֹּ֣֭אמְרוּ H559 Lest ye should say מָצָ֣אנוּ H4672 We have found out חָכְמָ֑ה H2451 wisdom אֵ֖ל H410 God יִדְּפֶ֣נּוּ H5086 thrusteth him down לֹא־ H3808 not אִֽישׁ׃ H376 not man

¹⁴ וְלֹא־ H3808 Nor עָרַ֣ךְ H6186 Now he hath not directed אֵלַ֣י H413 against מִלִּ֑ין H4405 words וּ֝בְאִמְרֵיכֶ֗ם H561 him with your speeches לֹ֣א H3808 Nor אֲשִׁיבֶֽנּוּ׃ H7725 against me neither will I answer

¹⁵ חַ֭תּוּ H2865 They were amazed לֹא־ H3808 no עָ֣נוּ H6030 they answered ע֑וֹד H5750 longer הֶעְתִּ֖יקוּ H6275 no more they left off מֵהֶ֣ם H1992 like מִלִּֽים׃ H4405 speaking

¹⁶ וְ֭הוֹחַלְתִּי H3176 When I had waited כִּי־ H3588 because לֹ֣א H3808 no יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ H1696 (for they spake כִּ֥י H3588 Because עָ֝מְד֗וּ H5975 not but stood still לֹא־ H3808 no עָ֥נוּ H6030 answered עֽוֹד׃ H5750 longer

¹⁷ אַעֲנֶ֣ה H6030 I will answer אַף־ H637 too אֲנִ֣י H589 my חֶלְקִ֑י H2506 also my part אֲחַוֶּ֖ה H2331 I also will shew דֵעִ֣י H1843 mine opinion אַף־ H637 also אָֽנִי׃ H589 I
