² בַּיָּמִ֖ים H3117 in those days הָהֵ֑ם H1992 those כְּשֶׁ֣בֶת ׀ H7675 place הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 when the king אֲחַשְׁוֵר֗וֹשׁ H325 Ahasuerus עַ֚ל H5921 on כִּסֵּ֣א H3678 on the throne מַלְכוּת֔וֹ H4438 of his kingdom אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 which בְּשׁוּשַׁ֥ן H7800 which in Shushan הַבִּירָֽה׃ H1002 the palace

³ בִּשְׁנַ֤ת H8141 year שָׁלוֹשׁ֙ H7969 In the third לְמָלְכ֔וֹ H4427 of his reign עָשָׂ֣ה H6213 he made מִשְׁתֶּ֔ה H4960 a feast לְכָל־ H3605 for all שָׂרָ֖יו H8269 unto all his princes וַעֲבָדָ֑יו H5650 and his servants חֵ֣יל ׀ H2426 army פָּרַ֣ס H6539 of Persia וּמָדַ֗י H4074 and Media הַֽפַּרְתְּמִ֛ים H6579 the nobles וְשָׂרֵ֥י H8269 and princes הַמְּדִינ֖וֹת H4082 of the provinces לְפָנָֽיו׃ H6440 before

⁴ בְּהַרְאֹת֗וֹ H7200 When he shewed אֶת־ H853 עֹ֙שֶׁר֙ H6239 the riches כְּב֣וֹד H3519 of his glorious מַלְכוּת֔וֹ H4438 kingdom וְאֶ֨ת־ H853 יְקָ֔ר H3366 and the honour תִּפְאֶ֖רֶת H8597 of his excellent גְּדוּלָּת֑וֹ H1420 majesty יָמִ֣ים H3117 days רַבִּ֔ים H7227 many שְׁמוֹנִ֥ים H8084 and fourscore וּמְאַ֖ת H3967 an hundred יֽוֹם׃ H3117 days

⁵ וּבִמְל֣וֹאת ׀ H4390 were expired הַיָּמִ֣ים H3117 And when these days הָאֵ֗לֶּה H428 these עָשָׂ֣ה H6213 made הַמֶּ֡לֶךְ H4428 the king לְכָל־ H3605 for all הָעָ֣ם H5971 unto all the people הַנִּמְצְאִים֩ H4672 that were present בְּשׁוּשַׁ֨ן H7800 in Shushan הַבִּירָ֜ה H1002 the palace לְמִגָּ֧דוֹל H1419 both unto great וְעַד־ H5704 against קָטָ֛ן H6996 and small מִשְׁתֶּ֖ה H4960 a feast שִׁבְעַ֣ת H7651 seven יָמִ֑ים H3117 days בַּחֲצַ֕ר H2691 in the court גִּנַּ֥ת H1594 of the garden בִּיתַ֖ן H1055 palace הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 of the king's

⁶ ח֣וּר ׀ H2353 white כַּרְפַּ֣ס H3768 green וּתְכֵ֗לֶת H8504 and blue אָחוּז֙ H270 fastened בְּחַבְלֵי־ H2256 with cords ב֣וּץ H948 of fine linen וְאַרְגָּמָ֔ן H713 and purple עַל־ H5921 and גְּלִ֥ילֵי H1550 rings כֶ֖סֶף H3701 to silver וְעַמּ֣וּדֵי H5982 and pillars שֵׁ֑שׁ H8336 of marble מִטּ֣וֹת ׀ H4296 the beds זָהָ֣ב H2091 gold וָכֶ֗סֶף H3701 and silver עַ֛ל H5921 on רִֽצְפַ֥ת H7531 upon a pavement בַּהַט־ H923 of red וָשֵׁ֖שׁ H8336 marble וְדַ֥ר H1858 and white וְסֹחָֽרֶת׃ H5508 and black

⁷ וְהַשְׁקוֹת֙ H8248 And they gave drink בִּכְלֵ֣י H3627 in vessels זָהָ֔ב H2091 of gold וְכֵלִ֖ים H3627 (the vessels מִכֵּלִ֣ים H3627 vessels שׁוֹנִ֑ים H8138 being diverse וְיֵ֥ין H3196 wine מַלְכ֛וּת H4438 and the royal רָ֖ב H7227 in abundance כְּיַ֥ד H3027 according to the state הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 of the king

⁸ וְהַשְּׁתִיָּ֥ה H8360 And the drinking כַדָּ֖ת H1881 according to the law אֵ֣ין H369 there אֹנֵ֑ס H597 none did compel כִּי־ H3588 for כֵ֣ן ׀ H3651 so יִסַּ֣ד H3245 had appointed הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ H4428 for so the king עַ֚ל H5921 unto כָּל־ H3605 each רַ֣ב H7227 to all the officers בֵּית֔וֹ H1004 of his house לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת H6213 that they should do כִּרְצ֥וֹן H7522 pleasure אִישׁ־ H376 according to every man's וָאִֽישׁ׃ H376 person

⁹ גַּ֚ם H1571 also וַשְׁתִּ֣י H2060 Also Vashti הַמַּלְכָּ֔ה H4436 the queen עָשְׂתָ֖ה H6213 made מִשְׁתֵּ֣ה H4960 a feast נָשִׁ֑ים H802 for the women בֵּ֚ית H1004 house הַמַּלְכ֔וּת H4438 the royal אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 which לַמֶּ֥לֶךְ H4428 which to king אֲחַשְׁוֵרֽוֹשׁ׃ H325 Ahasuerus ס

¹⁰ בַּיּוֹם֙ H3117 day הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י H7637 On the seventh כְּט֥וֹב H2896 was merry לֵב־ H3820 when the heart הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 of the king בַּיָּ֑יִן H3196 with wine אָמַ֡ר H559 he commanded לִ֠מְהוּמָן H4104 Mehuman בִּזְּתָ֨א H968 Biztha חַרְבוֹנָ֜א H2726 Harbona בִּגְתָ֤א H903 Bigtha וַאֲבַגְתָא֙ H5 and Abagtha זֵתַ֣ר H2242 Zethar וְכַרְכַּ֔ס H3752 and Carcas שִׁבְעַת֙ H7651 the seven הַסָּ֣רִיסִ֔ים H5631 chamberlains הַמְשָׁ֣רְתִ֔ים H8334 that served אֶת־ H854 in פְּנֵ֖י H6440 in the presence הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ H4428 the king אֲחַשְׁוֵרֽוֹשׁ׃ H325 of Ahasuerus

¹¹ לְ֠הָבִיא H935 To bring אֶת־ H853 וַשְׁתִּ֧י H2060 Vashti הַמַּלְכָּ֛ה H4436 the queen לִפְנֵ֥י H6440 before הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 the king בְּכֶ֣תֶר H3804 with the crown מַלְכ֑וּת H4438 royal לְהַרְא֨וֹת H7200 to shew הָֽעַמִּ֤ים H5971 the people וְהַשָּׂרִים֙ H8269 and the princes אֶת־ H853 יָפְיָ֔הּ H3308 her beauty כִּֽי־ H3588 for טוֹבַ֥ת H2896 for she fair מַרְאֶ֖ה H4758 to look on הִֽיא׃ H1931 he

¹² וַתְּמָאֵ֞ן H3985 refused הַמַּלְכָּ֣ה H4436 But the queen וַשְׁתִּ֗י H2060 Vashti לָבוֹא֙ H935 to come בִּדְבַ֣ר H1697 commandment הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 at the king's אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 after בְּיַ֣ד H3027 by הַסָּרִיסִ֑ים H5631 chamberlains וַיִּקְצֹ֤ף H7107 wroth הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 therefore was the king מְאֹ֔ד H3966 very וַחֲמָת֖וֹ H2534 and his anger בָּעֲרָ֥ה H1197 burned בֽוֹ׃ H0

¹³ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 said הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 Then the king לַחֲכָמִ֖ים H2450 to the wise men יֹדְעֵ֣י H3045 which knew הָֽעִתִּ֑ים H6256 the times כִּי־ H3588 for כֵן֙ H3651 so דְּבַ֣ר H1697 manner הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 (for so the king's לִפְנֵ֕י H6440 toward כָּל־ H3605 all יֹדְעֵ֖י H3045 all that knew דָּ֥ת H1881 law וָדִֽין׃ H1779 and judgment

¹⁴ וְהַקָּרֹ֣ב H7138 And the next אֵלָ֗יו H413 to him כַּרְשְׁנָ֤א H3771 unto him Carshena שֵׁתָר֙ H8369 Shethar אַדְמָ֣תָא H133 Admatha תַרְשִׁ֔ישׁ H8659 Tarshish מֶ֥רֶס H4825 Meres מַרְסְנָ֖א H4826 Marsena מְמוּכָ֑ן H4462 Memucan שִׁבְעַ֞ת H7651 the seven שָׂרֵ֣י ׀ H8269 princes פָּרַ֣ס H6539 of Persia וּמָדַ֗י H4074 and Media רֹאֵי֙ H7200 which saw פְּנֵ֣י H6440 face הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 the king's הַיֹּשְׁבִ֥ים H3427 which sat רִאשֹׁנָ֖ה H7223 the first בַּמַּלְכֽוּת׃ H4438 the kingdom

¹⁵ כְּדָת֙ H1881 according to law מַֽה־ H4100 what לַּעֲשׂ֔וֹת H6213 What shall we do בַּמַּלְכָּ֖ה H4436 unto the queen וַשְׁתִּ֑י H2060 Vashti עַ֣ל ׀ H5921 and אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 after לֹֽא־ H3808 did not עָשְׂתָ֗ה H6213 because she hath not performed אֶֽת־ H853 מַאֲמַר֙ H3982 the commandment הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 of the king אֲחַשְׁוֵר֔וֹשׁ H325 Ahasuerus בְּיַ֖ד H3027 by הַסָּרִיסִֽים׃ H5631 chamberlain ס

¹⁶ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 answered <מוּמְכָן כ> (מְמוּכָ֗ן H4462 Memucan ק) לִפְנֵ֤י H6440 before הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 the king וְהַשָּׂרִ֔ים H8269 and the princes לֹ֤א H3808 not עַל־ H5921 and הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 to the king לְבַדּ֔וֹ H905 only עָוְתָ֖ה H5753 hath not done wrong וַשְׁתִּ֣י H2060 Vashti הַמַּלְכָּ֑ה H4436 the queen כִּ֤י H3588 for עַל־ H5921 and כָּל־ H3605 but all הַשָּׂרִים֙ H8269 only but also to all the princes וְעַל־ H5921 and כָּל־ H3605 and all הָ֣עַמִּ֔ים H5971 and to all the people אֲשֶׁ֕ר H834 who בְּכָל־ H3605 all מְדִינ֖וֹת H4082 that in all the provinces הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ H4428 of the king אֲחַשְׁוֵרֽוֹשׁ׃ H325 Ahasuerus

¹⁷ כִּֽי־ H3588 for יֵצֵ֤א H3318 shall come abroad דְבַר־ H1697 For deed הַמַּלְכָּה֙ H4436 of the queen עַל־ H5921 unto כָּל־ H3605 all הַנָּשִׁ֔ים H802 unto all women לְהַבְז֥וֹת H959 so that they shall despise בַּעְלֵיהֶ֖ן H1167 their husbands בְּעֵינֵיהֶ֑ן H5869 in their eyes בְּאָמְרָ֗ם H559 when it shall be reported הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 The king אֲחַשְׁוֵר֡וֹשׁ H325 Ahasuerus אָמַ֞ר H559 commanded לְהָבִ֨יא H935 to be brought in אֶת־ H853 וַשְׁתִּ֧י H2060 Vashti הַמַּלְכָּ֛ה H4436 the queen לְפָנָ֖יו H6440 before וְלֹא־ H3808 not בָֽאָה׃ H935 him but she came

¹⁸ וְֽהַיּ֨וֹם H3117 this day הַזֶּ֜ה H2088 This תֹּאמַ֣רְנָה ׀ H559 say שָׂר֣וֹת H8282 shall the ladies פָּֽרַס־ H6539 of Persia וּמָדַ֗י H4074 and Media אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 who שָֽׁמְעוּ֙ H8085 which have heard אֶת־ H853 דְּבַ֣ר H1697 of the deed הַמַּלְכָּ֔ה H4436 of the queen לְכֹ֖ל H3605 all שָׂרֵ֣י H8269 princes הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 unto all the king's וּכְדַ֖י H1767 Thus too much בִּזָּי֥וֹן H963 contempt וָקָֽצֶף׃ H7110 and wrath

¹⁹ אִם־ H518 If עַל־ H5921 and הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 the king ט֗וֹב H2895 If it please יֵצֵ֤א H3318 let there go דְבַר־ H1697 commandment מַלְכוּת֙ H4438 a royal מִלְּפָנָ֔יו H6440 from him וְיִכָּתֵ֛ב H3789 and let it be written בְּדָתֵ֥י H1881 among the laws פָֽרַס־ H6539 of the Persians וּמָדַ֖י H4074 and the Medes וְלֹ֣א H3808 cannot יַעֲב֑וֹר H5674 that it be not altered אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 after לֹֽא־ H3808 may no תָב֜וֹא H935 come וַשְׁתִּ֗י H2060 That Vashti לִפְנֵי֙ H6440 no more before הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 king אֲחַשְׁוֵר֔וֹשׁ H325 Ahasuerus וּמַלְכוּתָהּ֙ H4438 her royal estate יִתֵּ֣ן H5414 give הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 and let the king לִרְעוּתָ֖הּ H7468 unto another הַטּוֹבָ֥ה H2896 that is better מִמֶּֽנָּה׃ H4480 is more

²⁰ וְנִשְׁמַע֩ H8085 shall be published פִּתְגָ֨ם H6599 decree הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ H4428 And when the king's אֲשֶֽׁר־ H834 which יַעֲשֶׂה֙ H6213 which he shall make בְּכָל־ H3605 all מַלְכוּת֔וֹ H4438 throughout all his empire כִּ֥י H3588 for רַבָּ֖ה H7227 great הִ֑יא H1931 he וְכָל־ H3605 all הַנָּשִׁ֗ים H802 women יִתְּנ֤וּ H5414 shall give יְקָר֙ H3366 honour לְבַעְלֵיהֶ֔ן H1167 to their husbands לְמִגָּד֖וֹל H1419 both to great וְעַד־ H5704 against קָטָֽן׃ H6996 and small

²¹ וַיִּיטַב֙ H3190 be accepted הַדָּבָ֔ר H1697 And the saying בְּעֵינֵ֥י H5869 affliction הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 the king וְהַשָּׂרִ֑ים H8269 and the princes וַיַּ֥עַשׂ H6213 did הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 and the king כִּדְבַ֥ר H1697 according to the word מְמוּכָֽן׃ H4462 of Memucan

²² וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח H7971 For he sent סְפָרִים֙ H5612 letters אֶל־ H413 to כָּל־ H3605 all מְדִינ֣וֹת H4082 provinces הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 into all the king's אֶל־ H413 to מְדִינָ֤ה H4082 into every province וּמְדִינָה֙ H4082 province כִּכְתָבָ֔הּ H3791 according to the writing וְאֶל־ H413 and to עַ֥ם H5971 thereof and to every people וָעָ֖ם H5971 of every people כִּלְשׁוֹנ֑וֹ H3956 after their language לִהְי֤וֹת H1961 become כָּל־ H3605 every אִישׁ֙ H376 that every man שֹׂרֵ֣ר H8323 should bear rule בְּבֵית֔וֹ H1004 in his own house וּמְדַבֵּ֖ר H1696 and that should be published כִּלְשׁ֥וֹן H3956 according to the language עַמּֽוֹ׃ H5971 people פ

¹ אַחַר֙ H310 After הַדְּבָרִ֣ים H1697 these things הָאֵ֔לֶּה H428 these כְּשֹׁ֕ךְ H7918 was appeased חֲמַ֖ת H2534 when the wrath הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 of king אֲחַשְׁוֵר֑וֹשׁ H325 Ahasuerus זָכַ֤ר H2142 he remembered אֶת־ H853 וַשְׁתִּי֙ H2060 Vashti וְאֵ֣ת H853 אֲשֶׁר־ H834 and what עָשָׂ֔תָה H6213 and what she had done וְאֵ֥ת H853 אֲשֶׁר־ H834 and what נִגְזַ֖ר H1504 and what was decreed עָלֶֽיהָ׃ H5921 against

² וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ H559 Then said נַעֲרֵֽי־ H5288 servants הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 the king's מְשָׁרְתָ֑יו H8334 that ministered יְבַקְשׁ֥וּ H1245 sought לַמֶּ֛לֶךְ H4428 for the king נְעָר֥וֹת H5291 young בְּתוּל֖וֹת H1330 virgins טוֹב֥וֹת H2896 beautiful מַרְאֶֽה׃ H4758 apparently

³ וְיַפְקֵ֨ד H6485 appoint הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 And let the king פְּקִידִים֮ H6496 officers בְּכָל־ H3605 all מְדִינ֣וֹת H4082 in all the provinces מַלְכוּתוֹ֒ H4438 of his kingdom וְיִקְבְּצ֣וּ H6908 that they may gather together אֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 every נַעֲרָֽה־ H5291 young בְ֠תוּלָה H1330 virgins טוֹבַ֨ת H2896 beautiful מַרְאֶ֜ה H4758 apparently אֶל־ H413 of שׁוּשַׁ֤ן H7800 unto Shushan הַבִּירָה֙ H1002 the palace אֶל־ H413 to בֵּ֣ית H1004 to the house הַנָּשִׁ֔ים H802 of the women אֶל־ H413 into יַ֥ד H3027 unto the custody הֵגֶ֛א H1896 of Hege סְרִ֥יס H5631 chamberlain הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 the king's שֹׁמֵ֣ר H8104 keeper הַנָּשִׁ֑ים H802 of the women וְנָת֖וֹן H5414 be given תַּמְרוּקֵיהֶֽן׃ H8562 and let their things for purification

⁴ וְהַֽנַּעֲרָ֗ה H5291 And let the maiden אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 who תִּיטַב֙ H3190 be accepted בְּעֵינֵ֣י H5869 affliction הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 the king תִּמְלֹ֖ךְ H4427 be queen תַּ֣חַת H8478 place וַשְׁתִּ֑י H2060 instead of Vashti וַיִּיטַ֧ב H3190 be accepted הַדָּבָ֛ר H1697 And the thing בְּעֵינֵ֥י H5869 affliction הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 the king וַיַּ֥עַשׂ H6213 and he did so כֵּֽן׃ H3651 accordingly ס

⁵ אִ֣ישׁ H376 there was a certain יְהוּדִ֔י H3064 Jew הָיָ֖ה H1961 become בְּשׁוּשַׁ֣ן H7800 in Shushan הַבִּירָ֑ה H1002 the palace וּשְׁמ֣וֹ H8034 whose name מָרְדֳּכַ֗י H4782 Mordecai בֶּ֣ן H1121 the son יָאִ֧יר H2971 of Jair בֶּן־ H1121 the son שִׁמְעִ֛י H8096 of Shimei בֶּן־ H1121 the son קִ֖ישׁ H7027 of Kish אִ֥ישׁ H0 יְמִינִֽי׃ H1145 a Benjamite

⁶ אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 who הָגְלָה֙ H1540 Who had been carried away מִיר֣וּשָׁלַ֔יִם H3389 from Jerusalem עִם־ H5973 with הַגֹּלָה֙ H1473 with the captivity אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who הָגְלְתָ֔ה H1540 which had been carried away עִ֖ם H5973 with יְכָנְיָ֣ה H3204 with Jeconiah מֶֽלֶךְ־ H4428 king יְהוּדָ֑ה H3063 of Judah אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 whom הֶגְלָ֔ה H1540 had carried away נְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּ֖ר H5019 whom Nebuchadnezzar מֶ֥לֶךְ H4428 the king בָּבֶֽל׃ H894 of Babylon

⁷ וַיְהִ֨י H1961 become אֹמֵ֜ן H539 And he brought up אֶת־ H853 הֲדַסָּ֗ה H1919 Hadassah הִ֤יא H1931 that אֶסְתֵּר֙ H635 that Esther בַּת־ H1323 daughter דֹּד֔וֹ H1730 his uncle's כִּ֛י H3588 for אֵ֥ין H369 had לָ֖הּ H0 אָ֣ב H1 for she had neither father וָאֵ֑ם H517 nor mother וְהַנַּעֲרָ֤ה H5291 and the maid יְפַת־ H3303 was beautiful תֹּ֙אַר֙ H8389 of form וְטוֹבַ֣ת H2896 good מַרְאֶ֔ה H4758 and face וּבְמ֤וֹת H4194 were dead אָבִ֙יהָ֙ H1 when her father וְאִמָּ֔הּ H517 and mother לְקָחָ֧הּ H3947 took מָרְדֳּכַ֛י H4782 whom Mordecai ל֖וֹ H0 לְבַֽת׃ H1323 for his own daughter

⁸ וַיְהִ֗י H1961 came בְּהִשָּׁמַ֤ע H8085 was heard דְּבַר־ H1697 commandment הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 So it came to pass when the king's וְדָת֔וֹ H1881 and his decree וּֽבְהִקָּבֵ֞ץ H6908 were gathered together נְעָר֥וֹת H5291 maidens רַבּ֛וֹת H7227 and when many אֶל־ H413 of שׁוּשַׁ֥ן H7800 unto Shushan הַבִּירָ֖ה H1002 the palace אֶל־ H413 into יַ֣ד H3027 to the custody הֵגָ֑י H1896 of Hegai וַתִּלָּקַ֤ח H3947 was brought אֶסְתֵּר֙ H635 that Esther אֶל־ H413 about בֵּ֣ית H1004 house הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 also unto the king's אֶל־ H413 into יַ֥ד H3027 to the custody הֵגַ֖י H1896 of Hegai שֹׁמֵ֥ר H8104 keeper הַנָּשִֽׁים׃ H802 of the women

¹⁷ וַיֶּאֱהַ֨ב H157 loved הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ H4428 And the king אֶת־ H853 אֶסְתֵּר֙ H635 Esther מִכָּל־ H3605 all הַנָּשִׁ֔ים H802 above all the women וַתִּשָּׂא־ H5375 and she obtained חֵ֥ן H2580 grace וָחֶ֛סֶד H2617 and favour לְפָנָ֖יו H6440 in his sight מִכָּל־ H3605 all הַבְּתוּלֹ֑ת H1330 more than all the virgins וַיָּ֤שֶׂם H7760 so that he set כֶּֽתֶר־ H3804 crown מַלְכוּת֙ H4438 the royal בְּרֹאשָׁ֔הּ H7218 upon her head וַיַּמְלִיכֶ֖הָ H4427 and made her queen תַּ֥חַת H8478 instead וַשְׁתִּֽי׃ H2060 instead of Vashti

²² וַיִּוָּדַ֤ע H3045 was known הַדָּבָר֙ H1697 And the thing לְמָרְדֳּכַ֔י H4782 to Mordecai וַיַּגֵּ֖ד H5046 who told לְאֶסְתֵּ֣ר H635 unto Esther הַמַּלְכָּ֑ה H4436 the queen וַתֹּ֧אמֶר H559 certified אֶסְתֵּ֛ר H635 and Esther לַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 the king בְּשֵׁ֥ם H8034 name מָרְדֳּכָֽי׃ H4782 in Mordecai's

² וְכָל־ H3605 All עַבְדֵ֨י H5650 servants הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ H4428 And all the king's אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who בְּשַׁ֣עַר H8179 gate הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ H4428 that in the king's כֹּרְעִ֤ים H3766 bowed וּמִֽשְׁתַּחֲוִים֙ H7812 and reverenced לְהָמָ֔ן H2001 Haman כִּי־ H3588 for כֵ֖ן H3651 so צִוָּה־ H6680 had so commanded ל֣וֹ H0 הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 for the king וּמָ֨רְדֳּכַ֔י H4782 concerning him But Mordecai לֹ֥א H3808 neither יִכְרַ֖ע H3766 bowed וְלֹ֥א H3808 nor יִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶֽה׃ H7812 not nor did reverence

³ וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ H559 said עַבְדֵ֥י H5650 servants הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ H4428 Then the king's אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who בְּשַׁ֥עַר H8179 gate הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 which in the king's לְמָרְדֳּכָ֑י H4782 unto Mordecai מַדּ֙וּעַ֙ H4069 Why אַתָּ֣ה H859 are you עוֹבֵ֔ר H5674 Why transgressest אֵ֖ת H853 מִצְוַ֥ת H4687 commanded הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 thou the king's

⁴ וַיְהִ֗י H1961 become <בְּאָמְרָם כ> (כְּאָמְרָ֤ם H559 answer ק) אֵלָיו֙ H413 about י֣וֹם H3117 daily וָי֔וֹם H3117 daily וְלֹ֥א H3808 not שָׁמַ֖ע H8085 unto him and he hearkened אֲלֵיהֶ֑ם H413 to וַיַּגִּ֣ידוּ H5046 not unto them that they told לְהָמָ֗ן H2001 Haman לִרְאוֹת֙ H7200 to see הֲיַֽעַמְדוּ֙ H5975 would stand דִּבְרֵ֣י H1697 matters מָרְדֳּכַ֔י H4782 whether Mordecai's כִּֽי־ H3588 for הִגִּ֥יד H5046 for he had told לָהֶ֖ם H1992 like אֲשֶׁר־ H834 after ה֥וּא H1931 he יְהוּדִֽי׃ H3064 them that he a Jew

⁵ וַיַּ֣רְא H7200 saw הָמָ֔ן H2001 And when Haman כִּי־ H3588 for אֵ֣ין H369 neither מָרְדֳּכַ֔י H4782 that Mordecai כֹּרֵ֥עַ H3766 bowed וּמִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֖ה H7812 not nor did him reverence ל֑וֹ H0 וַיִּמָּלֵ֥א H4390 full הָמָ֖ן H2001 then was Haman חֵמָֽה׃ H2534 of wrath

⁶ וַיִּ֣בֶז H959 scorn בְּעֵינָ֗יו H5869 And he thought לִשְׁלֹ֤ח H7971 to lay יָד֙ H3027 hands בְּמָרְדֳּכַ֣י H4782 on Mordecai לְבַדּ֔וֹ H905 alone כִּֽי־ H3588 for הִגִּ֥ידוּ H5046 alone for they had shewed ל֖וֹ H0 אֶת־ H853 עַ֣ם H5971 him the people מָרְדֳּכָ֑י H4782 of Mordecai וַיְבַקֵּ֣שׁ H1245 sought הָמָ֗ן H2001 wherefore Haman לְהַשְׁמִ֧יד H8045 to destroy אֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 all הַיְּהוּדִ֛ים H3064 all the Jews אֲשֶׁ֛ר H834 who בְּכָל־ H3605 the whole מַלְכ֥וּת H4438 that throughout the whole kingdom אֲחַשְׁוֵר֖וֹשׁ H325 of Ahasuerus עַ֥ם H5971 the people מָרְדֳּכָֽי׃ H4782 of Mordecai

⁷ בַּחֹ֤דֶשׁ H2320 month הָרִאשׁוֹן֙ H7223 In the first הוּא־ H1931 which חֹ֣דֶשׁ H2320 that the month נִיסָ֔ן H5212 Nisan בִּשְׁנַת֙ H8141 year שְׁתֵּ֣ים H8147 both עֶשְׂרֵ֔ה H6240 ten לַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 of king אֲחַשְׁוֵר֑וֹשׁ H325 Ahasuerus הִפִּ֣יל H5307 they cast פּוּר֩ H6332 Pur ה֨וּא H1931 which הַגּוֹרָ֜ל H1486 that the lot לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 before הָמָ֗ן H2001 Haman מִיּ֧וֹם ׀ H3117 from day לְי֛וֹם H3117 to day וּמֵחֹ֛דֶשׁ H2320 and from month לְחֹ֥דֶשׁ H2320 to month שְׁנֵים־ H8147 both עָשָׂ֖ר H6240 ten הוּא־ H1931 which חֹ֥דֶשׁ H2320 that the month אֲדָֽר׃ H143 Adar ס

⁸ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 said הָמָן֙ H2001 And Haman לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 unto king אֲחַשְׁוֵר֔וֹשׁ H325 Ahasuerus יֶשְׁנ֣וֹ H3426 There is עַם־ H5971 people אֶחָ֗ד H259 a certain מְפֻזָּ֤ר H6340 scattered abroad וּמְפֹרָד֙ H6504 and dispersed בֵּ֣ין H996 among הָֽעַמִּ֔ים H5971 among the people בְּכֹ֖ל H3605 all מְדִינ֣וֹת H4082 in all the provinces מַלְכוּתֶ֑ךָ H4438 of thy kingdom וְדָתֵיהֶ֞ם H1881 and their laws שֹׁנ֣וֹת H8138 diverse מִכָּל־ H3605 all עָ֗ם H5971 from all people וְאֶת־ H853 דָּתֵ֤י H1881 laws הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 they the king's אֵינָ֣ם H369 not עֹשִׂ֔ים H6213 neither keep וְלַמֶּ֥לֶךְ H4428 therefore it not for the king's אֵין־ H369 else שֹׁוֶ֖ה H7737 profit לְהַנִּיחָֽם׃ H3240 to suffer

⁹ אִם־ H518 If עַל־ H5921 unto הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 the king ט֔וֹב H2895 If it please יִכָּתֵ֖ב H3789 let it be written לְאַבְּדָ֑ם H6 that they may be destroyed וַעֲשֶׂ֨רֶת H6235 ten אֲלָפִ֜ים H505 thousand כִּכַּר־ H3603 talents כֶּ֗סֶף H3701 of silver אֶשְׁקוֹל֙ H8254 and I will pay עַל־ H5921 into יְדֵי֙ H3027 to the hands עֹשֵׂ֣י H6213 of those that have the charge הַמְּלָאכָ֔ה H4399 of the business לְהָבִ֖יא H935 to bring אֶל־ H413 into גִּנְזֵ֥י H1595 treasuries הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 into the king's

¹⁰ וַיָּ֧סַר H5493 took הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ H4428 And the king אֶת־ H853 טַבַּעְתּ֖וֹ H2885 his ring מֵעַ֣ל H5921 from יָד֑וֹ H3027 from his hand וַֽיִּתְּנָ֗הּ H5414 and gave לְהָמָ֧ן H2001 it unto Haman בֶּֽן־ H1121 the son הַמְּדָ֛תָא H4099 of Hammedatha הָאֲגָגִ֖י H91 the Agagite צֹרֵ֥ר H6887 enemy הַיְּהוּדִֽים׃ H3064 the Jews'

¹¹ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 said הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 And the king לְהָמָ֔ן H2001 unto Haman הַכֶּ֖סֶף H3701 The silver נָת֣וּן H5414 given לָ֑ךְ H0 וְהָעָ֕ם H5971 to thee the people לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת H6213 also to do בּ֖וֹ H0 כַּטּ֥וֹב H2896 good בְּעֵינֶֽיךָ׃ H5869 with them as it seemeth

¹² וַיִּקָּרְאוּ֩ H7121 called סֹפְרֵ֨י H5608 scribes הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ H4428 Then were the king's בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ H2320 month הָרִאשׁ֗וֹן H7223 of the first בִּשְׁלוֹשָׁ֨ה H7969 three עָשָׂ֣ר H6240 ten יוֹם֮ H3117 day בּוֹ֒ H0 וַיִּכָּתֵ֣ב H3789 and there was written כְּֽכָל־ H3605 all manner אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who צִוָּ֣ה H6680 had commanded הָמָ֡ן H2001 according to all that Haman אֶ֣ל H413 about אֲחַשְׁדַּרְפְּנֵֽי־ H323 lieutenants הַ֠מֶּלֶךְ H4428 unto the king's וְֽאֶל־ H413 to הַפַּח֞וֹת H6346 and to the governors אֲשֶׁ֣ר ׀ H834 who עַל־ H5921 were over מְדִינָ֣ה H4082 that over every province וּמְדִינָ֗ה H4082 of every province וְאֶל־ H413 and to שָׂ֤רֵי H8269 and to the rulers עַם֙ H5971 of every people וָעָ֔ם H5971 thereof and every people מְדִינָ֤ה H4082 each וּמְדִינָה֙ H4082 province כִּכְתָבָ֔הּ H3791 according to the writing וְעַ֥ם H5971 each וָעָ֖ם H5971 people כִּלְשׁוֹנ֑וֹ H3956 after their language בְּשֵׁ֨ם H8034 in the name הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ H4428 of king אֲחַשְׁוֵרֹשׁ֙ H325 Ahasuerus נִכְתָּ֔ב H3789 was it written וְנֶחְתָּ֖ם H2856 and sealed בְּטַבַּ֥עַת H2885 ring הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 with the king's

¹ וּמָרְדֳּכַ֗י H4782 When Mordecai יָדַע֙ H3045 perceived אֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 all אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 that נַעֲשָׂ֔ה H6213 all that was done וַיִּקְרַ֤ע H7167 rent מָרְדֳּכַי֙ H4782 Mordecai אֶת־ H853 בְּגָדָ֔יו H899 his clothes וַיִּלְבַּ֥שׁ H3847 and put on שַׂ֖ק H8242 sackcloth וָאֵ֑פֶר H665 with ashes וַיֵּצֵא֙ H3318 and went out בְּת֣וֹךְ H8432 into the midst הָעִ֔יר H5892 of the city וַיִּזְעַ֛ק H2199 and cried זְעָקָ֥ה H2201 cry גְדֹלָ֖ה H1419 with a loud וּמָרָֽה׃ H4751 and a bitter

² וַיָּב֕וֹא H935 And came עַ֖ד H5704 far לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 even before שַֽׁעַר־ H8179 gate הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 the king's כִּ֣י H3588 for אֵ֥ין H369 no לָב֛וֹא H935 for none enter אֶל־ H413 about שַׁ֥עַר H8179 gate הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 into the king's בִּלְב֥וּשׁ H3830 clothed שָֽׂק׃ H8242 with sackcloth

³ וּבְכָל־ H3605 and every מְדִינָ֣ה H4082 And in every province וּמְדִינָ֗ה H4082 province מְקוֹם֙ H4725 whithersoever אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 after דְּבַר־ H1697 commandment הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ H4428 the king's וְדָתוֹ֙ H1881 and his decree מַגִּ֔יעַ H5060 came אֵ֤בֶל H60 mourning גָּדוֹל֙ H1419 great לַיְּהוּדִ֔ים H3064 among the Jews וְצ֥וֹם H6685 and fasting וּבְכִ֖י H1065 and weeping וּמִסְפֵּ֑ד H4553 and wailing שַׂ֣ק H8242 in sackcloth וָאֵ֔פֶר H665 and ashes יֻצַּ֖ע H3331 lay לָֽרַבִּֽים׃ H7227 and many

⁴ <וַתְּבֹואֶינָה כ> (וַ֠תָּבֹואנָה H935 abide ק) נַעֲר֨וֹת H5291 maids אֶסְתֵּ֤ר H635 So Esther's וְסָרִיסֶ֙יהָ֙ H5631 and her chamberlains וַיַּגִּ֣ידוּ H5046 and told לָ֔הּ H0 וַתִּתְחַלְחַ֥ל H2342 grieved הַמַּלְכָּ֖ה H4436 her Then was the queen מְאֹ֑ד H3966 exceedingly וַתִּשְׁלַ֨ח H7971 and she sent בְּגָדִ֜ים H899 raiment לְהַלְבִּ֣ישׁ H3847 to clothe אֶֽת־ H853 מָרְדֳּכַ֗י H4782 Mordecai וּלְהָסִ֥יר H5493 and to take away שַׂקּ֛וֹ H8242 his sackcloth מֵעָלָ֖יו H5921 and וְלֹ֥א H3808 did not קִבֵּֽל׃ H6901 from him but he received

⁵ וַתִּקְרָא֩ H7121 Then called אֶסְתֵּ֨ר H635 Esther לַהֲתָ֜ךְ H2047 for Hatach מִסָּרִיסֵ֤י H5631 chamberlains הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 of the king's אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 whom הֶעֱמִ֣יד H5975 whom he had appointed לְפָנֶ֔יהָ H6440 to attend וַתְּצַוֵּ֖הוּ H6680 upon her and gave him a commandment עַֽל־ H5921 and מָרְדֳּכָ֑י H4782 to Mordecai לָדַ֥עַת H3045 to know מַה־ H4100 what זֶּ֖ה H2088 this וְעַל־ H5921 and מַה־ H4100 and why זֶּֽה׃ H2088 this

⁶ וַיֵּצֵ֥א H3318 went forth הֲתָ֖ךְ H2047 So Hatach אֶֽל־ H413 to מָרְדֳּכָ֑י H4782 to Mordecai אֶל־ H413 about רְח֣וֹב H7339 unto the street הָעִ֔יר H5892 of the city אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 after לִפְנֵ֥י H6440 which before שַֽׁעַר־ H8179 gate הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 the king's

⁷ וַיַּגֶּד־ H5046 told ל֣וֹ H0 מָרְדֳּכַ֔י H4782 And Mordecai אֵ֖ת H853 כָּל־ H3605 all אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 that קָרָ֑הוּ H7136 him of all that had happened וְאֵ֣ת ׀ H853 פָּרָשַׁ֣ת H6575 unto him and of the sum הַכֶּ֗סֶף H3701 of the money אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 after אָמַ֤ר H559 had promised הָמָן֙ H2001 that Haman לִ֠שְׁקוֹל H8254 to pay עַל־ H5921 and גִּנְזֵ֥י H1595 treasuries הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ H4428 to the king's <בַּיְּהוּדִיִּים כ> (בַּיְּהוּדִ֖ים H3064 Jew ק) לְאַבְּדָֽם׃ H6 to destroy

⁸ וְאֶת־ H853 פַּתְשֶׁ֣גֶן H6572 him the copy כְּתָֽב־ H3791 of the writing הַ֠דָּת H1881 of the decree אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which נִתַּ֨ן H5414 Also he gave בְּשׁוּשָׁ֤ן H7800 at Shushan לְהַשְׁמִידָם֙ H8045 to destroy נָ֣תַן H5414 that was given ל֔וֹ H0 לְהַרְא֥וֹת H7200 them to shew אֶת־ H853 אֶסְתֵּ֖ר H635 unto Esther וּלְהַגִּ֣יד H5046 and to declare לָ֑הּ H0 וּלְצַוּ֣וֹת H6680 unto her and to charge עָלֶ֗יהָ H5921 her to לָב֨וֹא H935 her that she should go in אֶל־ H413 to הַמֶּ֧לֶךְ H4428 unto the king לְהִֽתְחַנֶּן־ H2603 to make supplication ל֛וֹ H0 וּלְבַקֵּ֥שׁ H1245 unto him and to make request מִלְּפָנָ֖יו H6440 before עַל־ H5921 with עַמָּֽהּ׃ H5971 him for her people

⁹ וַיָּב֖וֹא H935 came הֲתָ֑ךְ H2047 And Hatach וַיַּגֵּ֣ד H5046 and told לְאֶסְתֵּ֔ר H635 Esther אֵ֖ת H853 דִּבְרֵ֥י H1697 the words מָרְדֳּכָֽי׃ H4782 of Mordecai

¹⁰ וַתֹּ֤אמֶר H559 spake אֶסְתֵּר֙ H635 Again Esther לַהֲתָ֔ךְ H2047 unto Hatach וַתְּצַוֵּ֖הוּ H6680 and gave him commandment אֶֽל־ H413 to מָרְדֳּכָֽי׃ H4782 unto Mordecai

¹¹ כָּל־ H3605 All עַבְדֵ֣י H5650 servants הַמֶּ֡לֶךְ H4428 All the king's וְעַם־ H5971 and the people מְדִינ֨וֹת H4082 provinces הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ H4428 of the king's יֽוֹדְעִ֗ים H3045 do know אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who כָּל־ H3605 any אִ֣ישׁ H376 that whosoever whether man וְאִשָּׁ֡ה H802 or woman אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who יָבֽוֹא־ H935 shall come אֶל־ H413 to הַמֶּלֶךְ֩ H4428 unto the king אֶל־ H413 about הֶחָצֵ֨ר H2691 court הַפְּנִימִ֜ית H6442 into the inner אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who לֹֽא־ H3808 is not יִקָּרֵ֗א H7121 who is not called אַחַ֤ת H259 one דָּתוֹ֙ H1881 law לְהָמִ֔ית H4191 of his to put to death לְ֠בַד H905 except מֵאֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 who יֽוֹשִׁיט־ H3447 shall hold out ל֥וֹ H0 הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ H4428 such to whom the king אֶת־ H853 שַׁרְבִ֥יט H8275 sceptre הַזָּהָ֖ב H2091 the golden וְחָיָ֑ה H2421 that he may live וַאֲנִ֗י H589 I לֹ֤א H3808 have not נִקְרֵ֙אתִי֙ H7121 but I have not been called לָב֣וֹא H935 to come in אֶל־ H413 to הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 unto the king זֶ֖ה H2088 these שְׁלוֹשִׁ֥ים H7970 these thirty יֽוֹם׃ H3117 days

¹² וַיַּגִּ֣ידוּ H5046 And they told לְמָרְדֳּכָ֔י H4782 to Mordecai אֵ֖ת H853 דִּבְרֵ֥י H1697 words אֶסְתֵּֽר׃ H635 Esther's פ

¹³ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר H559 commanded מָרְדֳּכַ֖י H4782 Then Mordecai לְהָשִׁ֣יב H7725 to answer אֶל־ H413 to אֶסְתֵּ֑ר H635 Esther אַל־ H408 not תְּדַמִּ֣י H1819 Think בְנַפְשֵׁ֔ךְ H5315 not with thyself לְהִמָּלֵ֥ט H4422 that thou shalt escape בֵּית־ H1004 house הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 in the king's מִכָּל־ H3605 all הַיְּהוּדִֽים׃ H3064 more than all the Jews

¹⁴ כִּ֣י H3588 For אִם־ H518 if הַחֲרֵ֣שׁ H2790 For if thou altogether תַּחֲרִישִׁי֮ H2790 holdest thy peace בָּעֵ֣ת H6256 at this time הַזֹּאת֒ H2063 likewise רֶ֣וַח H7305 shall there enlargement וְהַצָּלָ֞ה H2020 and deliverance יַעֲמ֤וֹד H5975 arise לַיְּהוּדִים֙ H3064 to the Jews מִמָּק֣וֹם H4725 place אַחֵ֔ר H312 from another וְאַ֥תְּ H859 you וּבֵית־ H1004 house אָבִ֖יךְ H1 but thou and thy father's תֹּאבֵ֑דוּ H6 shall be destroyed וּמִ֣י H4310 and who יוֹדֵ֔עַ H3045 and who knoweth אִם־ H518 whether לְעֵ֣ת H6256 for a time כָּזֹ֔את H2063 have not הִגַּ֖עַתְּ H5060 whether thou art come לַמַּלְכֽוּת׃ H4438 to the kingdom

¹⁵ וַתֹּ֥אמֶר H559 bade אֶסְתֵּ֖ר H635 Then Esther לְהָשִׁ֥יב H7725 return אֶֽל־ H413 to מָרְדֳּכָֽי׃ H4782 Mordecai

¹⁶ לֵךְ֩ H1980 Go כְּנ֨וֹס H3664 gather together אֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 all הַיְּהוּדִ֜ים H3064 all the Jews הַֽנִּמְצְאִ֣ים H4672 that are present בְּשׁוּשָׁ֗ן H7800 in Shushan וְצ֣וּמוּ H6684 and fast עָ֠לַי H5921 and וְאַל־ H408 not תֹּאכְל֨וּ H398 ye for me and neither eat וְאַל־ H408 not תִּשְׁתּ֜וּ H8354 nor drink שְׁלֹ֤שֶׁת H7969 three יָמִים֙ H3117 days לַ֣יְלָה H3915 night וָי֔וֹם H3117 or day גַּם־ H1571 also אֲנִ֥י H589 and וְנַעֲרֹתַ֖י H5291 I also and my maidens אָצ֣וּם H6684 will fast כֵּ֑ן H3651 likewise and so וּבְכֵ֞ן H3651 way אָב֤וֹא H935 will I go אֶל־ H413 to הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 in unto the king אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 which לֹֽא־ H3808 according כַדָּ֔ת H1881 which not according to the law וְכַאֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 and if אָבַ֖דְתִּי H6 and if I perish אָבָֽדְתִּי׃ H6 I perish

¹⁷ וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֖ר H5674 went his way מָרְדֳּכָ֑י H4782 So Mordecai וַיַּ֕עַשׂ H6213 and did כְּכֹ֛ל H3605 all manner אֲשֶׁר־ H834 after צִוְּתָ֥ה H6680 had commanded עָלָ֖יו H5921 as אֶסְתֵּֽר׃ H635 according to all that Esther ס

¹ וַיְהִ֣י ׀ H1961 came בַּיּ֣וֹם H3117 day הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֗י H7992 Now it came to pass on the third וַתִּלְבַּ֤שׁ H3847 put on אֶסְתֵּר֙ H635 that Esther מַלְכ֔וּת H4438 royal וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֞ד H5975 and stood בַּחֲצַ֤ר H2691 court בֵּית־ H1004 house הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 of the king's הַפְּנִימִ֔ית H6442 in the inner נֹ֖כַח H5227 over against בֵּ֣ית H1004 house הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 the king's וְ֠הַמֶּלֶךְ H4428 and the king יוֹשֵׁ֞ב H3427 sat עַל־ H5921 on כִּסֵּ֤א H3678 throne מַלְכוּתוֹ֙ H4438 upon his royal בְּבֵ֣ית H1004 house הַמַּלְכ֔וּת H4438 in the royal נֹ֖כַח H5227 over against פֶּ֥תַח H6607 the gate הַבָּֽיִת׃ H1004 of the house

² וַיְהִי֩ H1961 become כִרְא֨וֹת H7200 saw הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ H4428 And it was so when the king אֶת־ H853 אֶסְתֵּ֣ר H635 Esther הַמַּלְכָּ֗ה H4436 the queen עֹמֶ֙דֶת֙ H5975 standing בֶּֽחָצֵ֔ר H2691 in the court נָשְׂאָ֥ה H5375 she obtained חֵ֖ן H2580 favour בְּעֵינָ֑יו H5869 in his sight וַיּ֨וֹשֶׁט H3447 held out הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ H4428 and the king לְאֶסְתֵּ֗ר H635 to Esther אֶת־ H853 שַׁרְבִ֤יט H8275 sceptre הַזָּהָב֙ H2091 the golden אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 which בְּיָד֔וֹ H3027 that in his hand וַתִּקְרַ֣ב H7126 drew near אֶסְתֵּ֔ר H635 So Esther וַתִּגַּ֖ע H5060 and touched בְּרֹ֥אשׁ H7218 the top הַשַּׁרְבִֽיט׃ H8275 of the sceptre ס

³ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 Then said לָהּ֙ H0 הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 the king מַה־ H4100 to her What לָּ֖ךְ H0 אֶסְתֵּ֣ר H635 Esther הַמַּלְכָּ֑ה H4436 unto her What wilt thou queen וּמַה־ H4100 to her What בַּקָּשָׁתֵ֛ךְ H1246 request עַד־ H5704 against חֲצִ֥י H2677 thee to the half הַמַּלְכ֖וּת H4438 of the kingdom וְיִנָּ֥תֵֽן H5414 shall be given לָֽךְ׃ H0

⁴ וַתֹּ֣אמֶר H559 answered אֶסְתֵּ֔ר H635 And Esther אִם־ H518 If עַל־ H5921 and הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 unto the king ט֑וֹב H2895 If good יָב֨וֹא H935 come הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ H4428 let the king וְהָמָן֙ H2001 and Haman הַיּ֔וֹם H3117 this day אֶל־ H413 to הַמִּשְׁתֶּ֖ה H4960 unto the banquet אֲשֶׁר־ H834 i עָשִׂ֥יתִי H6213 that I have prepared לֽוֹ׃ H0

⁵ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 said הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 Then the king מַהֲרוּ֙ H4116 to make haste אֶת־ H853 הָמָ֔ן H2001 Cause Haman לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת H6213 that he may do אֶת־ H853 דְּבַ֣ר H1697 hath said אֶסְתֵּ֑ר H635 as Esther וַיָּבֹ֤א H935 came הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 So the king וְהָמָ֔ן H2001 and Haman אֶל־ H413 to הַמִּשְׁתֶּ֖ה H4960 to the banquet אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which עָשְׂתָ֥ה H6213 had prepared אֶסְתֵּֽר׃ H635 that Esther

⁶ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 said הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ H4428 And the king לְאֶסְתֵּר֙ H635 unto Esther בְּמִשְׁתֵּ֣ה H4960 at the banquet הַיַּ֔יִן H3196 of wine מַה־ H4100 What שְּׁאֵלָתֵ֖ךְ H7596 is your petition וְיִנָּ֣תֵֽן H5414 shall be granted לָ֑ךְ H0 וּמַה־ H4100 and what בַּקָּשָׁתֵ֛ךְ H1246 request עַד־ H5704 against חֲצִ֥י H2677 to half הַמַּלְכ֖וּת H4438 of the kingdom וְתֵעָֽשׂ׃ H6213 it shall be performed

⁷ וַתַּ֥עַן H6030 Then answered אֶסְתֵּ֖ר H635 Esther וַתֹּאמַ֑ר H559 and said שְׁאֵלָתִ֖י H7596 My petition וּבַקָּשָׁתִֽי׃ H1246 and my request

⁸ אִם־ H518 if מָצָ֨אתִי H4672 If I have found חֵ֜ן H2580 favour בְּעֵינֵ֣י H5869 in the sight הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ H4428 of the king וְאִם־ H518 and if עַל־ H5921 and הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 the king ט֔וֹב H2895 and if it please לָתֵת֙ H5414 to grant אֶת־ H853 שְׁאֵ֣לָתִ֔י H7596 my petition וְלַעֲשׂ֖וֹת H6213 and to perform אֶת־ H853 בַּקָּשָׁתִ֑י H1246 my request יָב֧וֹא H935 come הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 let the king וְהָמָ֗ן H2001 and Haman אֶל־ H413 to הַמִּשְׁתֶּה֙ H4960 to the banquet אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 which אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֣ה H6213 that I shall prepare לָהֶ֔ם H0 וּמָחָ֥ר H4279 to morrow אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֖ה H6213 for them and I will do כִּדְבַ֥ר H1697 hath said הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 as the king

⁹ וַיֵּצֵ֤א H3318 forth הָמָן֙ H2001 Haman בַּיּ֣וֹם H3117 that day הַה֔וּא H1931 he שָׂמֵ֖חַ H8056 joyful וְט֣וֹב H2896 and with a glad לֵ֑ב H3820 heart וְכִרְאוֹת֩ H7200 saw הָמָ֨ן H2001 but when Haman אֶֽת־ H853 מָרְדֳּכַ֜י H4782 Mordecai בְּשַׁ֣עַר H8179 gate הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ H4428 in the king's וְלֹא־ H3808 did not קָם֙ H6965 that he stood not up וְלֹא־ H3808 or זָ֣ע H2111 nor moved מִמֶּ֔נּוּ H4480 before וַיִּמָּלֵ֥א H4390 was full הָמָ֛ן H2001 for him he עַֽל־ H5921 against מָרְדֳּכַ֖י H4782 against Mordecai חֵמָֽה׃ H2534 of indignation

¹⁰ וַיִּתְאַפַּ֣ק H662 refrained הָמָ֔ן H2001 Nevertheless Haman וַיָּב֖וֹא H935 himself and when he came אֶל־ H413 to his בֵּית֑וֹ H1004 home וַיִּשְׁלַ֛ח H7971 he sent וַיָּבֵ֥א H935 and called אֶת־ H853 אֹהֲבָ֖יו H157 for his friends וְאֶת־ H853 זֶ֥רֶשׁ H2238 and Zeresh אִשְׁתּֽוֹ׃ H802 his wife

¹¹ וַיְסַפֵּ֨ר H5608 told לָהֶ֥ם H1992 Then הָמָ֛ן H2001 And Haman אֶת־ H853 כְּב֥וֹד H3519 them of the glory עָשְׁר֖וֹ H6239 of his riches וְרֹ֣ב H7230 and the multitude בָּנָ֑יו H1121 of his children וְאֵת֩ H853 כָּל־ H3605 and every אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 where גִּדְּל֤וֹ H1431 had promoted הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 and all wherein the king וְאֵ֣ת H853 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 and how נִשְּׂא֔וֹ H5375 him and how he had advanced עַל־ H5921 above הַשָּׂרִ֖ים H8269 him above the princes וְעַבְדֵ֥י H5650 and servants הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 of the king

¹² וַיֹּאמֶר֮ H559 said הָמָן֒ H2001 Haman אַ֣ף H637 also לֹא־ H3808 no הֵבִיאָה֩ H935 did let no man come in אֶסְתֵּ֨ר H635 moreover Yea Esther הַמַּלְכָּ֧ה H4436 the queen עִם־ H5973 with הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ H4428 with the king אֶל־ H413 to הַמִּשְׁתֶּ֥ה H4960 unto the banquet אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which עָשָׂ֖תָה H6213 that she had prepared כִּ֣י H3588 for אִם־ H518 lo אוֹתִ֑י H853 וְגַם־ H1571 also לְמָחָ֛ר H4279 but myself and to morrow אֲנִ֥י H589 I am קָֽרוּא־ H7121 am I invited לָ֖הּ H0 עִם־ H5973 her with הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 unto her also with the king

¹⁴ וַתֹּ֣אמֶר H559 Then said לוֹ֩ H0 זֶ֨רֶשׁ H2238 Zeresh אִשְׁתּ֜וֹ H802 his wife וְכָל־ H3605 and all אֹֽהֲבָ֗יו H157 and all his friends יַֽעֲשׂוּ־ H6213 be made עֵץ֮ H6086 unto him Let a gallows גָּבֹ֣הַּ H1364 high חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים H2572 of fifty אַמָּה֒ H520 cubits וּבַבֹּ֣קֶר ׀ H1242 and to morrow אֱמֹ֣ר H559 speak לַמֶּ֗לֶךְ H4428 thou unto the king וְיִתְל֤וּ H8518 may be hanged אֶֽת־ H853 מָרְדֳּכַי֙ H4782 that Mordecai עָלָ֔יו H5921 on וּבֹֽא־ H935 thereon then go עִם־ H5973 with הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ H4428 with the king אֶל־ H413 to הַמִּשְׁתֶּ֖ה H4960 unto the banquet שָׂמֵ֑חַ H8056 thou in merrily וַיִּיטַ֧ב H3190 pleased הַדָּבָ֛ר H1697 And the thing לִפְנֵ֥י H6440 accept הָמָ֖ן H2001 Haman וַיַּ֥עַשׂ H6213 to be made הָעֵֽץ׃ H6086 the gallows פ

¹ בַּלַּ֣יְלָה H3915 On that night הַה֔וּא H1931 he נָדְדָ֖ה H5074 could not שְׁנַ֣ת H8142 sleep הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 the king וַיֹּ֗אמֶר H559 and he commanded לְהָבִ֞יא H935 to bring אֶת־ H853 סֵ֤פֶר H5612 the book הַזִּכְרֹנוֹת֙ H2146 of records דִּבְרֵ֣י H1697 act הַיָּמִ֔ים H3117 age וַיִּהְי֥וּ H1961 become נִקְרָאִ֖ים H7121 and they were read לִפְנֵ֥י H6440 before הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 the king

² וַיִּמָּצֵ֣א H4672 And it was found כָת֗וּב H3789 written אֲשֶׁר֩ H834 what הִגִּ֨יד H5046 had told מָרְדֳּכַ֜י H4782 that Mordecai עַל־ H5921 concerning בִּגְתָ֣נָא H904 of Bigthana וָתֶ֗רֶשׁ H8657 and Teresh שְׁנֵי֙ H8147 two סָרִיסֵ֣י H5631 chamberlains הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 of the king's מִשֹּׁמְרֵ֖י H8104 the keepers הַסַּ֑ף H5592 of the door אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 what בִּקְשׁוּ֙ H1245 who sought לִשְׁלֹ֣חַ H7971 to lay יָ֔ד H3027 hand בַּמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 on the king אֲחַשְׁוֵרֽוֹשׁ׃ H325 Ahasuerus

³ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 said הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 And the king מַֽה־ H4100 What נַּעֲשָׂ֞ה H6213 hath been done יְקָ֧ר H3366 What honour וּגְדוּלָּ֛ה H1420 and dignity לְמָרְדֳּכַ֖י H4782 to Mordecai עַל־ H5921 and זֶ֑ה H2088 him וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ H559 for this? Then said נַעֲרֵ֤י H5288 servants הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 the king's מְשָׁ֣רְתָ֔יו H8334 that ministered לֹא־ H3808 not נַעֲשָׂ֥ה H6213 done עִמּ֖וֹ H5973 There דָּבָֽר׃ H1697 unto him There is nothing

⁴ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר H559 said הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 And the king מִ֣י H4310 Who בֶחָצֵ֑ר H2691 court וְהָמָ֣ן H2001 Haman בָּ֗א H935 was come לַחֲצַ֤ר H2691 court בֵּית־ H1004 house הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 of the king's הַחִ֣יצוֹנָ֔ה H2435 into the outward לֵאמֹ֣ר H559 to speak לַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 unto the king לִתְלוֹת֙ H8518 to hang אֶֽת־ H853 מָרְדֳּכַ֔י H4782 Mordecai עַל־ H5921 on הָעֵ֖ץ H6086 on the gallows אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which הֵכִ֥ין H3559 that he had prepared לֽוֹ׃ H0

⁵ וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ H559 said נַעֲרֵ֤י H5288 servants הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 And the king's אֵלָ֔יו H413 to him הִנֵּ֥ה H2009 Behold הָמָ֖ן H2001 unto him Behold Haman עֹמֵ֣ד H5975 standeth בֶּחָצֵ֑ר H2691 in the court וַיֹּ֥אמֶר H559 said הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 And the king יָבֽוֹא׃ H935 Let him come in

⁶ וַיָּבוֹא֮ H935 came in הָמָן֒ H2001 So Haman וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 said לוֹ֙ H0 הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 And the king מַה־ H4100 What לַעֲשׂ֕וֹת H6213 unto him What shall be done בָּאִ֕ישׁ H376 unto the man אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 whom הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 whom the king חָפֵ֣ץ H2654 delighteth בִּיקָר֑וֹ H3366 honour וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 thought הָמָן֙ H2001 Haman בְּלִבּ֔וֹ H3820 in his heart לְמִ֞י H4310 Whom יַחְפֹּ֥ץ H2654 delight הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ H4428 To whom would the king לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת H6213 to do יְקָ֖ר H3366 to honor יוֹתֵ֥ר H3148 more מִמֶּֽנִּי׃ H4480 than

⁷ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר H559 answered הָמָ֖ן H2001 And Haman אֶל־ H413 to הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 the king אִ֕ישׁ H376 For the man אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 whom הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 whom the king חָפֵ֥ץ H2654 delighteth בִּיקָרֽוֹ׃ H3366 to honour

⁸ יָבִ֙יאוּ֙ H935 be brought לְב֣וּשׁ H3830 apparel מַלְכ֔וּת H4438 Let the royal אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 which לָֽבַשׁ־ H3847 to wear בּ֖וֹ H0 הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 which the king וְס֗וּס H5483 and the horse אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 which רָכַ֤ב H7392 rideth עָלָיו֙ H5921 and הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 that the king וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 whose נִתַּ֛ן H5414 which is set כֶּ֥תֶר H3804 upon and the crown מַלְכ֖וּת H4438 royal בְּרֹאשֽׁוֹ׃ H7218 upon his head

⁹ וְנָת֨וֹן H5414 be delivered הַלְּב֜וּשׁ H3830 And let this apparel וְהַסּ֗וּס H5483 and horse עַל־ H5921 and יַד־ H3027 to the hand אִ֞ישׁ H376 of one מִשָּׂרֵ֤י H8269 princes הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 of the king's הַֽפַּרְתְּמִ֔ים H6579 most noble וְהִלְבִּ֙ישׁוּ֙ H3847 that they may array אֶת־ H853 הָאִ֔ישׁ H376 the man אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 whom הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 whom the king חָפֵ֣ץ H2654 delighteth בִּֽיקָר֑וֹ H3366 to honour וְהִרְכִּיבֻ֤הוּ H7392 and bring עַל־ H5921 on הַסּוּס֙ H5483 him on horseback בִּרְח֣וֹב H7339 through the street הָעִ֔יר H5892 of the city וְקָרְא֣וּ H7121 and proclaim לְפָנָ֔יו H6440 before כָּ֚כָה H3602 Thus יֵעָשֶׂ֣ה H6213 him Thus shall it be done לָאִ֔ישׁ H376 to the man אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 whom הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 whom the king חָפֵ֥ץ H2654 delighteth בִּיקָרֽוֹ׃ H3366 to honour

¹⁰ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 said הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ H4428 Then the king לְהָמָ֗ן H2001 to Haman מַ֠הֵר H4116 Make haste קַ֣ח H3947 take אֶת־ H853 הַלְּב֤וּשׁ H3830 the apparel וְאֶת־ H853 הַסּוּס֙ H5483 and the horse כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 you דִּבַּ֔רְתָּ H1696 as thou hast said וַֽעֲשֵׂה־ H6213 and do כֵן֙ H3651 so לְמָרְדֳּכַ֣י H4782 even so to Mordecai הַיְּהוּדִ֔י H3064 the Jew הַיּוֹשֵׁ֖ב H3427 that sitteth בְּשַׁ֣עַר H8179 gate הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 at the king's אַל־ H408 not תַּפֵּ֣ל H5307 fail דָּבָ֔ר H1697 let nothing מִכֹּ֖ל H3605 of all אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 you דִּבַּֽרְתָּ׃ H1696 of all that thou hast spoken

¹¹ וַיִּקַּ֤ח H3947 Then took הָמָן֙ H2001 Haman אֶת־ H853 הַלְּב֣וּשׁ H3830 the apparel וְאֶת־ H853 הַסּ֔וּס H5483 and the horse וַיַּלְבֵּ֖שׁ H3847 and arrayed אֶֽת־ H853 מָרְדֳּכָ֑י H4782 Mordecai וַיַּרְכִּיבֵ֙הוּ֙ H7392 and brought him on horseback בִּרְח֣וֹב H7339 through the street הָעִ֔יר H5892 of the city וַיִּקְרָ֣א H7121 and proclaimed לְפָנָ֔יו H6440 before כָּ֚כָה H3602 Thus יֵעָשֶׂ֣ה H6213 him Thus shall it be done לָאִ֔ישׁ H376 unto the man אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 whom הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 whom the king חָפֵ֥ץ H2654 delighteth בִּיקָרֽוֹ׃ H3366 to honour

¹² וַיָּ֥שָׁב H7725 came again מָרְדֳּכַ֖י H4782 And Mordecai אֶל־ H413 about שַׁ֣עַר H8179 gate הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 to the king's וְהָמָן֙ H2001 But Haman נִדְחַ֣ף H1765 hasted אֶל־ H413 about בֵּית֔וֹ H1004 to his house אָבֵ֖ל H57 mourning וַחֲפ֥וּי H2645 covered רֹֽאשׁ׃ H7218 and having his head

¹³ וַיְסַפֵּ֨ר H5608 told הָמָ֜ן H2001 And Haman לְזֶ֤רֶשׁ H2238 Zeresh אִשְׁתּוֹ֙ H802 his wife וּלְכָל־ H3605 and all אֹ֣הֲבָ֔יו H157 and all his friends אֵ֖ת H853 כָּל־ H3605 everything אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 whom קָרָ֑הוּ H7136 every that had befallen וַיֹּ֩אמְרוּ֩ H559 him Then said ל֨וֹ H0 חֲכָמָ֜יו H2450 his wise men וְזֶ֣רֶשׁ H2238 and Zeresh אִשְׁתּ֗וֹ H802 his wife אִ֣ם H518 If מִזֶּ֣רַע H2233 of the seed הַיְּהוּדִ֡ים H3064 of the Jews מָרְדֳּכַ֞י H4782 unto him If Mordecai אֲשֶׁר֩ H834 whom הַחִלּ֨וֹתָ H2490 whom thou hast begun לִנְפֹּ֤ל H5307 to fall לְפָנָיו֙ H6440 before לֹא־ H3808 you will not תוּכַ֣ל H3201 thou shalt not prevail ל֔וֹ H0 כִּֽי־ H3588 but נָפ֥וֹל H5307 against him but shalt surely תִּפּ֖וֹל H5307 fall לְפָנָֽיו׃ H6440 before

¹⁴ עוֹדָם֙ H5750 were still מְדַבְּרִ֣ים H1696 And while they yet talking עִמּ֔וֹ H5973 with וְסָרִיסֵ֥י H5631 chamberlains הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 the king's הִגִּ֑יעוּ H5060 with him came וַיַּבְהִ֙לוּ֙ H926 and hasted לְהָבִ֣יא H935 to bring אֶת־ H853 הָמָ֔ן H2001 Haman אֶל־ H413 to הַמִּשְׁתֶּ֖ה H4960 unto the banquet אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which עָשְׂתָ֥ה H6213 had prepared אֶסְתֵּֽר׃ H635 that Esther

¹ וַיָּבֹ֤א H935 came הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 So the king וְהָמָ֔ן H2001 and Haman לִשְׁתּ֖וֹת H8354 to banquet עִם־ H5973 with אֶסְתֵּ֥ר H635 with Esther הַמַּלְכָּֽה׃ H4436 the queen

² וַיֹּאמֶר֩ H559 said הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ H4428 And the king לְאֶסְתֵּ֜ר H635 again unto Esther גַּ֣ם H1571 also בַּיּ֤וֹם H3117 day הַשֵּׁנִי֙ H8145 on the second בְּמִשְׁתֵּ֣ה H4960 at the banquet הַיַּ֔יִן H3196 of wine מַה־ H4100 What שְּׁאֵלָתֵ֛ךְ H7596 What thy petition אֶסְתֵּ֥ר H635 to Esther הַמַּלְכָּ֖ה H4436 queen וְתִנָּ֣תֵֽן H5414 add לָ֑ךְ H0 וּמַה־ H4100 and what בַּקָּשָׁתֵ֛ךְ H1246 request עַד־ H5704 against חֲצִ֥י H2677 to the half הַמַּלְכ֖וּת H4438 of the kingdom וְתֵעָֽשׂ׃ H6213 shall be done

³ וַתַּ֨עַן H6030 answered אֶסְתֵּ֤ר H635 Then Esther הַמַּלְכָּה֙ H4436 the queen וַתֹּאמַ֔ר H559 and said אִם־ H518 If מָצָ֨אתִי H4672 If I have found חֵ֤ן H2580 favour בְּעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙ H5869 in thy sight הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 O king וְאִם־ H518 and if עַל־ H5921 and הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 the king ט֑וֹב H2895 and if it please תִּנָּֽתֶן־ H5414 be given לִ֤י H0 נַפְשִׁי֙ H5315 let my life בִּשְׁאֵ֣לָתִ֔י H7596 me at my petition וְעַמִּ֖י H5971 and my people בְּבַקָּשָׁתִֽי׃ H1246 at my request

⁴ כִּ֤י H3588 for נִמְכַּ֙רְנוּ֙ H4376 For we are sold אֲנִ֣י H589 and וְעַמִּ֔י H5971 I and my people לְהַשְׁמִ֖יד H8045 to be destroyed לַהֲר֣וֹג H2026 to be slain וּלְאַבֵּ֑ד H6 and to perish וְ֠אִלּוּ H432 But if לַעֲבָדִ֨ים H5650 for bondmen וְלִשְׁפָח֤וֹת H8198 and bondwomen נִמְכַּ֙רְנוּ֙ H4376 we had been sold הֶחֱרַ֔שְׁתִּי H2790 I had held my tongue כִּ֣י H3588 for אֵ֥ין H369 for הַצָּ֛ר H6862 although the enemy שֹׁוֶ֖ה H7737 could not countervail בְּנֵ֥זֶק H5143 damage הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 the king's ס

⁵ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ H559 answered הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 Then the king אֲחַשְׁוֵר֔וֹשׁ H325 Ahasuerus וַיֹּ֖אמֶר H559 and said לְאֶסְתֵּ֣ר H635 unto Esther הַמַּלְכָּ֑ה H4436 the queen מִ֣י H4310 Who ה֥וּא H1931 he זֶה֙ H2088 is he וְאֵֽי־ H335 and where זֶ֣ה H2088 he ה֔וּא H1931 is he אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who מְלָא֥וֹ H4390 Who is he and where is he that durst presume לִבּ֖וֹ H3820 in his heart לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת H6213 to do כֵּֽן׃ H3651 after that

⁶ וַתֹּ֣אמֶר־ H559 said אֶסְתֵּ֔ר H635 And Esther אִ֚ישׁ H376 a צַ֣ר H6862 foe וְאוֹיֵ֔ב H341 and enemy הָמָ֥ן H2001 Haman הָרָ֖ע H7451 this wicked הַזֶּ֑ה H2088 is this וְהָמָ֣ן H2001 Then Haman נִבְעַ֔ת H1204 was afraid מִלִּפְנֵ֥י H6440 before הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 the king וְהַמַּלְכָּֽה׃ H4436 and the queen

⁷ וְהַמֶּ֜לֶךְ H4428 And the king קָ֤ם H6965 arising בַּחֲמָתוֹ֙ H2534 in his wrath מִמִּשְׁתֵּ֣ה H4960 from the banquet הַיַּ֔יִן H3196 of wine אֶל־ H413 against גִּנַּ֖ת H1594 garden הַבִּיתָ֑ן H1055 into the palace וְהָמָ֣ן H2001 and Haman עָמַ֗ד H5975 stood up לְבַקֵּ֤שׁ H1245 to make request עַל־ H5921 for נַפְשׁוֹ֙ H5315 for his life מֵֽאֶסְתֵּ֣ר H635 to Esther הַמַּלְכָּ֔ה H4436 the queen כִּ֣י H3588 for רָאָ֔ה H7200 for he saw כִּֽי־ H3588 for כָלְתָ֥ה H3615 determined אֵלָ֛יו H413 against הָרָעָ֖ה H7451 that there was evil מֵאֵ֥ת H854 by הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 against him by the king

⁸ וְהַמֶּ֡לֶךְ H4428 Then the king שָׁב֩ H7725 returned מִגִּנַּ֨ת H1594 garden הַבִּיתָ֜ן H1055 out of the palace אֶל־ H413 into בֵּ֣ית ׀ H1004 into the place מִשְׁתֵּ֣ה H4960 of the banquet הַיַּ֗יִן H3196 of wine וְהָמָן֙ H2001 and Haman נֹפֵ֔ל H5307 was fallen עַל־ H5921 on הַמִּטָּה֙ H4296 upon the bed אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 after אֶסְתֵּ֣ר H635 whereon Esther עָלֶ֔יהָ H5921 and וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 Then said הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 the king הֲ֠גַם H1571 even לִכְבּ֧וֹשׁ H3533 Will he force אֶת־ H853 הַמַּלְכָּ֛ה H4436 the queen עִמִּ֖י H5973 into בַּבָּ֑יִת H1004 the place הַדָּבָ֗ר H1697 act יָצָא֙ H3318 went out מִפִּ֣י H6310 mouth הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 of the king's וּפְנֵ֥י H6440 face הָמָ֖ן H2001 Haman's חָפֽוּ׃ H2645 they covered ס

⁹ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 said חַ֠רְבוֹנָה H2726 And Harbonah אֶחָ֨ד H259 one מִן־ H4480 at הַסָּרִיסִ֜ים H5631 of the chamberlains לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 before הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ H4428 the king גַּ֣ם H1571 indeed הִנֵּה־ H2009 Behold הָעֵ֣ץ H6086 Behold also the gallows אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which עָשָׂ֪ה H6213 had made הָמָ֟ן H2001 which Haman לְֽמָרְדֳּכַ֞י H4782 for Mordecai אֲשֶׁ֧ר H834 who דִּבֶּר־ H1696 who had spoken ט֣וֹב H2896 good עַל־ H5921 behalf הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ H4428 for the king עֹמֵד֙ H5975 standeth בְּבֵ֣ית H1004 in the house הָמָ֔ן H2001 of Haman גָּבֹ֖הַּ H1364 high חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים H2572 fifty אַמָּ֑ה H520 cubits וַיֹּ֥אמֶר H559 said הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 Then the king תְּלֻ֥הוּ H8518 Hang עָלָֽיו׃ H5921 behalf

¹⁰ וַיִּתְלוּ֙ H8518 So they hanged אֶת־ H853 הָמָ֔ן H2001 Haman עַל־ H5921 on הָעֵ֖ץ H6086 on the gallows אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which הֵכִ֣ין H3559 that he had prepared לְמָרְדֳּכָ֑י H4782 for Mordecai וַחֲמַ֥ת H2534 wrath הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 Then was the king's שָׁכָֽכָה׃ H7918 pacified פ

² וַיָּ֨סַר H5493 took off הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ H4428 And the king אֶת־ H853 טַבַּעְתּ֗וֹ H2885 his ring אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 which הֶֽעֱבִיר֙ H5674 which he had taken מֵֽהָמָ֔ן H2001 from Haman וַֽיִּתְּנָ֖הּ H5414 and gave לְמָרְדֳּכָ֑י H4782 it unto Mordecai וַתָּ֧שֶׂם H7760 set אֶסְתֵּ֛ר H635 And Esther אֶֽת־ H853 מָרְדֳּכַ֖י H4782 Mordecai עַל־ H5921 over בֵּ֥ית H1004 over the house הָמָֽן׃ H2001 of Haman פ

³ וַתּ֣וֹסֶף H3254 yet again אֶסְתֵּ֗ר H635 And Esther וַתְּדַבֵּר֙ H1696 spake לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 before הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 the king וַתִּפֹּ֖ל H5307 and fell down לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 at רַגְלָ֑יו H7272 his feet וַתֵּ֣בְךְּ H1058 him with tears וַתִּתְחַנֶּן־ H2603 and besought ל֗וֹ H0 לְהַֽעֲבִיר֙ H5674 to put away אֶת־ H853 רָעַת֙ H7451 the mischief הָמָ֣ן H2001 of Haman הָֽאֲגָגִ֔י H91 the Agagite וְאֵת֙ H853 מַֽחֲשַׁבְתּ֔וֹ H4284 and his device אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 which חָשַׁ֖ב H2803 that he had devised עַל־ H5921 against הַיְּהוּדִֽים׃ H3064 against the Jews

⁴ וַיּ֤וֹשֶׁט H3447 held out הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 Then the king לְאֶסְתֵּ֔ר H635 toward Esther אֵ֖ת H853 שַׁרְבִ֣ט H8275 sceptre הַזָּהָ֑ב H2091 the golden וַתָּ֣קָם H6965 arose אֶסְתֵּ֔ר H635 So Esther וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֖ד H5975 and stood לִפְנֵ֥י H6440 before הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 the king

⁵ וַ֠תֹּאמֶר H559 And said אִם־ H518 If עַל־ H5921 and הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ H4428 the king ט֜וֹב H2896 If it please וְאִם־ H518 and if מָצָ֧אתִי H4672 and if I have found חֵ֣ן H2580 favour לְפָנָ֗יו H6440 in his sight וְכָשֵׁ֤ר H3787 right הַדָּבָר֙ H1697 and the thing לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 before הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 the king וְטוֹבָ֥ה H2896 and I pleasing אֲנִ֖י H589 his בְּעֵינָ֑יו H5869 in his eyes יִכָּתֵ֞ב H3789 let it be written לְהָשִׁ֣יב H7725 to reverse אֶת־ H853 הַסְּפָרִ֗ים H5612 the letters מַחֲשֶׁ֜בֶת H4284 devised הָמָ֤ן H2001 by Haman בֶּֽן־ H1121 the son הַמְּדָ֙תָא֙ H4099 of Hammedatha הָאֲגָגִ֔י H91 the Agagite אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 which כָּתַ֗ב H3789 which he wrote לְאַבֵּד֙ H6 to destroy אֶת־ H853 הַיְּהוּדִ֔ים H3064 the Jews אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 who בְּכָל־ H3605 all מְדִינ֥וֹת H4082 provinces הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 which in all the king's

⁶ כִּ֠י H3588 For אֵיכָכָ֤ה H349 For how אוּכַל֙ H3201 can I endure וְֽרָאִ֔יתִי H7200 to see בָּרָעָ֖ה H7451 the evil אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which יִמְצָ֣א H4672 that shall come אֶת־ H853 עַמִּ֑י H5971 my people וְאֵֽיכָכָ֤ה H349 how אוּכַל֙ H3201 can I endure וְֽרָאִ֔יתִי H7200 to see בְּאָבְדַ֖ן H13 the destruction מוֹלַדְתִּֽי׃ H4138 begotten ס

⁷ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 said הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ H4428 Then the king אֲחַשְׁוֵרֹשׁ֙ H325 Ahasuerus לְאֶסְתֵּ֣ר H635 unto Esther הַמַּלְכָּ֔ה H4436 the queen וּֽלְמָרְדֳּכַ֖י H4782 and to Mordecai הַיְּהוּדִ֑י H3064 the Jew הִנֵּ֨ה H2009 Behold בֵית־ H1004 the house הָמָ֜ן H2001 of Haman נָתַ֣תִּי H5414 Behold I have given לְאֶסְתֵּ֗ר H635 Esther וְאֹתוֹ֙ H853 תָּל֣וּ H8518 and him they have hanged עַל־ H5921 on הָעֵ֔ץ H6086 upon the gallows עַ֛ל H5921 and אֲשֶׁר־ H834 he שָׁלַ֥ח H7971 because he laid יָד֖וֹ H3027 his hand <בַּיְּהוּדִיִּים כ> (בַּיְּהוּדִֽים׃ H3064 the Jew ק)

⁸ וְ֠אַתֶּם H859 now you כִּתְב֨וּ H3789 Write עַל־ H5921 unto הַיְּהוּדִ֜ים H3064 ye also for the Jews כַּטּ֤וֹב H2896 as it liketh בְּעֵֽינֵיכֶם֙ H5869 you בְּשֵׁ֣ם H8034 name הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 in the king's וְחִתְמ֖וּ H2856 and seal בְּטַבַּ֣עַת H2885 ring הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 with the king's כִּֽי־ H3588 for כְתָ֞ב H3791 for the writing אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which נִכְתָּ֣ב H3789 which is written בְּשֵׁם־ H8034 name הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ H4428 in the king's וְנַחְתּ֛וֹם H2856 and sealed בְּטַבַּ֥עַת H2885 ring הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 with the king's אֵ֥ין H369 else לְהָשִֽׁיב׃ H7725 may no man reverse

⁹ וַיִּקָּרְא֣וּ H7121 called סֹפְרֵֽי־ H5608 scribes הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 Then were the king's בָּֽעֵת־ H6256 at that time הַ֠הִיא H1931 he בַּחֹ֨דֶשׁ H2320 month הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֜י H7992 in the third הוּא־ H1931 he חֹ֣דֶשׁ H2320 that the month סִיוָ֗ן H5510 Sivan בִּשְׁלוֹשָׁ֣ה H7969 on the three וְעֶשְׂרִים֮ H6242 and twentieth בּוֹ֒ H0 וַיִּכָּתֵ֣ב H3789 thereof and it was written כְּֽכָל־ H3605 all manner אֲשֶׁר־ H834 after צִוָּ֣ה H6680 commanded מָרְדֳּכַ֣י H4782 according to all that Mordecai אֶל־ H413 to הַיְּהוּדִ֡ים H3064 unto the Jews וְאֶ֣ל H413 and to הָאֲחַשְׁדַּרְפְּנִֽים־ H323 and to the lieutenants וְהַפַּחוֹת֩ H6346 and the deputies וְשָׂרֵ֨י H8269 and rulers הַמְּדִינ֜וֹת H4082 of the provinces אֲשֶׁ֣ר ׀ H834 are מֵהֹ֣דּוּ H1912 which from India וְעַד־ H5704 unto כּ֗וּשׁ H3568 unto Ethiopia שֶׁ֣בַע H7651 and seven וְעֶשְׂרִ֤ים H6242 twenty וּמֵאָה֙ H3967 an hundred מְדִינָ֔ה H4082 provinces מְדִינָ֤ה H4082 unto every province וּמְדִינָה֙ H4082 to every כִּכְתָבָ֔הּ H3789 describe וְעַ֥ם H5971 thereof and unto every people וָעָ֖ם H5971 people כִּלְשֹׁנ֑וֹ H3956 after their language וְאֶ֨ל־ H413 to הַיְּהוּדִ֔ים H3064 and to the Jews כִּכְתָבָ֖ם H3789 describe וְכִלְשׁוֹנָֽם׃ H3956 and according to their language

¹⁰ וַיִּכְתֹּ֗ב H3789 And he wrote בְּשֵׁם֙ H8034 name הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 in the king אֲחַשְׁוֵרֹ֔שׁ H325 Ahasuerus' וַיַּחְתֹּ֖ם H2856 and sealed בְּטַבַּ֣עַת H2885 ring הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 with the king's וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח H7971 and sent סְפָרִ֡ים H5612 letters בְּיַד֩ H3027 by הָרָצִ֨ים H7323 posts בַּסּוּסִ֜ים H5483 on horseback רֹכְבֵ֤י H7392 riders הָרֶ֙כֶשׁ֙ H7409 on mules הָֽאֲחַשְׁתְּרָנִ֔ים H327 camels בְּנֵ֖י H1121 young הָֽרַמָּכִֽים׃ H7424 dromedaries

¹¹ אֲשֶׁר֩ H834 who נָתַ֨ן H5414 granted הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ H4428 Wherein the king לַיְּהוּדִ֣ים ׀ H3064 the Jews אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who בְּכָל־ H3605 and every עִיר־ H5892 which in every city וָעִ֗יר H5892 city לְהִקָּהֵל֮ H6950 to gather themselves together וְלַעֲמֹ֣ד H5975 and to stand עַל־ H5921 and נַפְשָׁם֒ H5315 for their life לְהַשְׁמִיד֩ H8045 to destroy וְלַהֲרֹ֨ג H2026 to slay וּלְאַבֵּ֜ד H6 and to cause to perish אֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 the entire חֵ֨יל H2426 army עַ֧ם H5971 of the people וּמְדִינָ֛ה H4082 and province הַצָּרִ֥ים H6696 that would assault אֹתָ֖ם H853 טַ֣ף H2945 them little ones וְנָשִׁ֑ים H802 and women וּשְׁלָלָ֖ם H7998 and the spoil לָבֽוֹז׃ H962 of them for a prey

¹² בְּי֣וֹם H3117 day אֶחָ֔ד H259 Upon one בְּכָל־ H3605 all מְדִינ֖וֹת H4082 in all the provinces הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 of king אֲחַשְׁוֵר֑וֹשׁ H325 Ahasuerus בִּשְׁלוֹשָׁ֥ה H7969 three עָשָׂ֛ר H6240 ten לְחֹ֥דֶשׁ H2320 month שְׁנֵים־ H8147 both עָשָׂ֖ר H6240 ten הוּא־ H1931 he חֹ֥דֶשׁ H2320 which the month אֲדָֽר׃ H143 Adar

¹³ פַּתְשֶׁ֣גֶן H6572 The copy הַכְּתָ֗ב H3791 of the writing לְהִנָּ֤תֵֽן H5414 to be given דָּת֙ H1881 for a commandment בְּכָל־ H3605 and every מְדִינָ֣ה H4082 in every province וּמְדִינָ֔ה H4082 province גָּל֖וּי H1540 published לְכָל־ H3605 to all הָעַמִּ֑ים H5971 unto all people וְלִהְי֨וֹת H1961 become <הַיְּהוּדִיִּים כ> (הַיְּהוּדִ֤ים H3064 Jew ק) <עֲתוּדִים כ> (עֲתִידִים֙ H6259 ready ק) לַיּ֣וֹם H3117 against that day הַזֶּ֔ה H2088 this לְהִנָּקֵ֖ם H5358 to avenge מֵאֹיְבֵיהֶֽם׃ H341 themselves on their enemies

¹⁴ הָרָצִ֞ים H7323 the posts רֹכְבֵ֤י H7392 that rode הָרֶ֙כֶשׁ֙ H7409 upon mules הָֽאֲחַשְׁתְּרָנִ֔ים H327 camels יָֽצְא֛וּ H3318 went out מְבֹהָלִ֥ים H926 being hastened וּדְחוּפִ֖ים H1765 and pressed on בִּדְבַ֣ר H1697 commandment הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 by the king's וְהַדָּ֥ת H1881 And the decree נִתְּנָ֖ה H5414 was given בְּשׁוּשַׁ֥ן H7800 at Shushan הַבִּירָֽה׃ H1002 the palace פ

¹⁵ וּמָרְדֳּכַ֞י H4782 And Mordecai יָצָ֣א ׀ H3318 went out מִלִּפְנֵ֣י H6440 from the presence הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ H4428 of the king בִּלְב֤וּשׁ H3830 apparel מַלְכוּת֙ H4438 in royal תְּכֵ֣לֶת H8504 of blue וָח֔וּר H2353 and white וַעֲטֶ֤רֶת H5850 crown זָהָב֙ H2091 of gold גְּדוֹלָ֔ה H1419 and with a great וְתַכְרִ֥יךְ H8509 and with a garment בּ֖וּץ H948 of fine linen וְאַרְגָּמָ֑ן H713 and purple וְהָעִ֣יר H5892 and the city שׁוּשָׁ֔ן H7800 of Shushan צָהֲלָ֖ה H6670 rejoiced וְשָׂמֵֽחָה׃ H8055 and rejoiced

¹⁶ לַיְּהוּדִ֕ים H3064 The Jews הָֽיְתָ֥ה H1961 there was אוֹרָ֖ה H219 had light וְשִׂמְחָ֑ה H8057 and gladness וְשָׂשֹׂ֖ן H8342 and joy וִיקָֽר׃ H3366 and honour

¹⁷ וּבְכָל־ H3605 and every מְדִינָ֨ה H4082 And in every province וּמְדִינָ֜ה H4082 province וּבְכָל־ H3605 and every עִ֣יר H5892 and in every city וָעִ֗יר H5892 city מְקוֹם֙ H4725 whithersoever אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 after דְּבַר־ H1697 commandment הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ H4428 the king's וְדָתוֹ֙ H1881 and his decree מַגִּ֔יעַ H5060 came שִׂמְחָ֤ה H8057 had joy וְשָׂשׂוֹן֙ H8342 and gladness לַיְּהוּדִ֔ים H3064 the Jews מִשְׁתֶּ֖ה H4960 a feast וְי֣וֹם H3117 day ט֑וֹב H2896 and a good וְרַבִּ֞ים H7227 And many מֵֽעַמֵּ֤י H5971 of the people הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ H776 of the land מִֽתְיַהֲדִ֔ים H3054 became Jews כִּֽי־ H3588 for נָפַ֥ל H5307 fell פַּֽחַד־ H6343 for the fear הַיְּהוּדִ֖ים H3064 of the Jews עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ H5921 and

¹ וּבִשְׁנֵים֩ H8147 both עָשָׂ֨ר H6240 ten חֹ֜דֶשׁ H2320 month הוּא־ H1931 he חֹ֣דֶשׁ H2320 that the month אֲדָ֗ר H143 Adar בִּשְׁלוֹשָׁ֨ה H7969 three עָשָׂ֥ר H6240 ten יוֹם֙ H3117 day בּ֔וֹ H0 אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 when הִגִּ֧יעַ H5060 drew near דְּבַר־ H1697 commandment הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ H4428 of the same when the king's וְדָת֖וֹ H1881 and his decree לְהֵעָשׂ֑וֹת H6213 to be put in execution בַּיּ֗וֹם H3117 in the day אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 when שִׂבְּר֜וּ H7663 hoped אֹיְבֵ֤י H341 that the enemies הַיְּהוּדִים֙ H3064 of the Jews לִשְׁל֣וֹט H7980 to have power בָּהֶ֔ם H0 וְנַהֲפ֣וֹךְ H2015 over them (though it was turned ה֔וּא H1931 he אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 when יִשְׁלְט֧וּ H7980 had rule הַיְּהוּדִ֛ים H3064 to the contrary that the Jews הֵ֖מָּה H1992 themselves בְּשֹׂנְאֵיהֶֽם׃ H8130 over them that hated

² נִקְהֲל֨וּ H6950 gathered themselves together הַיְּהוּדִ֜ים H3064 The Jews בְּעָרֵיהֶ֗ם H5892 in their cities בְּכָל־ H3605 all מְדִינוֹת֙ H4082 throughout all the provinces הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 of the king אֳחַשְׁוֵר֔וֹשׁ H325 Ahasuerus לִשְׁלֹ֣חַ H7971 to lay יָ֔ד H3027 hand בִּמְבַקְשֵׁ֖י H1245 on such as sought רָֽעָתָ֑ם H7451 their hurt וְאִישׁ֙ H376 and no man לֹא־ H3808 and no עָמַ֣ד H5975 could withstand לִפְנֵיהֶ֔ם H6440 them כִּֽי־ H3588 of them נָפַ֥ל H5307 of them fell פַּחְדָּ֖ם H6343 for the fear עַל־ H5921 on כָּל־ H3605 all הָעַמִּֽים׃ H5971 upon all people

³ וְכָל־ H3605 all שָׂרֵ֨י H8269 And all the rulers הַמְּדִינ֜וֹת H4082 of the provinces וְהָאֲחַשְׁדַּרְפְּנִ֣ים H323 and the lieutenants וְהַפַּח֗וֹת H6346 and the deputies וְעֹשֵׂ֤י H6213 were doing הַמְּלָאכָה֙ H4399 business אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 after לַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 of the king מְנַשְּׂאִ֖ים H5375 helped אֶת־ H853 הַיְּהוּדִ֑ים H3064 the Jews כִּֽי־ H3588 because נָפַ֥ל H5307 fell פַּֽחַד־ H6343 because the fear מָרְדֳּכַ֖י H4782 of Mordecai עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ H5921 and

⁴ כִּֽי־ H3588 Indeed גָ֤דוֹל H1419 great מָרְדֳּכַי֙ H4782 For Mordecai בְּבֵ֣ית H1004 house הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 in the king's וְשָׁמְע֖וֹ H8089 and his fame הוֹלֵ֣ךְ H1980 went out בְּכָל־ H3605 all הַמְּדִינ֑וֹת H4082 throughout all the provinces כִּֽי־ H3588 Indeed הָאִ֥ישׁ H376 for this man מָרְדֳּכַ֖י H4782 Mordecai הוֹלֵ֥ךְ H1980 waxed וְגָדֽוֹל׃ H1419 greater and greater פ

⁵ וַיַּכּ֤וּ H5221 smote הַיְּהוּדִים֙ H3064 Thus the Jews בְּכָל־ H3605 all אֹ֣יְבֵיהֶ֔ם H341 all their enemies מַכַּת־ H4347 with the stroke חֶ֥רֶב H2719 of the sword וְהֶ֖רֶג H2027 and slaughter וְאַבְדָ֑ן H12 and destruction וַיַּֽעֲשׂ֥וּ H6213 and did בְשֹׂנְאֵיהֶ֖ם H8130 unto those that hated כִּרְצוֹנָֽם׃ H7522 what they would

⁶ וּבְשׁוּשַׁ֣ן H7800 And in Shushan הַבִּירָ֗ה H1002 the palace הָרְג֤וּ H2026 slew הַיְּהוּדִים֙ H3064 the Jews וְאַבֵּ֔ד H6 and destroyed חֲמֵ֥שׁ H2568 five מֵא֖וֹת H3967 hundred אִֽישׁ׃ H376 men

⁷ וְאֵ֧ת ׀ H853 פַּרְשַׁנְדָּ֛תָא H6577 And Parshandatha וְאֵ֥ת ׀ H853 דַּֽלְפ֖וֹן H1813 and Dalphon וְאֵ֥ת ׀ H853 אַסְפָּֽתָא׃ H630 and Aspatha

⁸ וְאֵ֧ת ׀ H853 פּוֹרָ֛תָא H6334 And Poratha וְאֵ֥ת ׀ H853 אֲדַלְיָ֖א H118 and Adalia וְאֵ֥ת ׀ H853 אֲרִידָֽתָא׃ H743 and Aridatha

⁹ וְאֵ֤ת ׀ H853 פַּרְמַ֙שְׁתָּא֙ H6534 And Parmashta וְאֵ֣ת ׀ H853 אֲרִיסַ֔י H747 and Arisai וְאֵ֥ת ׀ H853 אֲרִדַ֖י H742 and Aridai וְאֵ֥ת ׀ H853 וַיְזָֽתָא׃ H2055 and Vajezatha

¹⁰ עֲ֠שֶׂרֶת H6235 The ten בְּנֵ֨י H1121 sons הָמָ֧ן H2001 of Haman בֶּֽן־ H1121 the son הַמְּדָ֛תָא H4099 of Hammedatha צֹרֵ֥ר H6887 the enemy הַיְּהוּדִ֖ים H3064 of the Jews הָרָ֑גוּ H2026 slew וּבַ֨בִּזָּ֔ה H961 they but on the spoil לֹ֥א H3808 did not שָׁלְח֖וּ H7971 laid אֶת־ H853 יָדָֽם׃ H3027 they not their hand

¹² וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 said הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ H4428 And the king לְאֶסְתֵּ֣ר H635 unto Esther הַמַּלְכָּ֗ה H4436 the queen בְּשׁוּשַׁ֣ן H7800 in Shushan הַבִּירָ֡ה H1002 the palace הָרְגוּ֩ H2026 have slain הַיְּהוּדִ֨ים H3064 The Jews וְאַבֵּ֜ד H6 and destroyed חֲמֵ֧שׁ H2568 five מֵא֣וֹת H3967 hundred אִ֗ישׁ H376 men וְאֵת֙ H853 עֲשֶׂ֣רֶת H6235 and the ten בְּנֵֽי־ H1121 sons הָמָ֔ן H2001 of Haman בִּשְׁאָ֛ר H7605 in the rest מְדִינ֥וֹת H4082 provinces הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 of the king's מֶ֣ה H4100 What עָשׂ֑וּ H6213 what have they done וּמַה־ H4100 now what שְּׁאֵֽלָתֵךְ֙ H7596 loan וְיִנָּ֣תֵֽן H5414 add לָ֔ךְ H0 וּמַה־ H4100 and what בַּקָּשָׁתֵ֥ךְ H1246 thee or what thy request ע֖וֹד H5750 is your further וְתֵעָֽשׂ׃ H6213 done

¹³ וַתֹּ֤אמֶר H559 Then said אֶסְתֵּר֙ H635 Esther אִם־ H518 If עַל־ H5921 and הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 the king ט֔וֹב H2896 If it please יִנָּתֵ֣ן H5414 let it be granted גַּם־ H1571 also מָחָ֗ר H4279 to morrow לַיְּהוּדִים֙ H3064 to the Jews אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who בְּשׁוּשָׁ֔ן H7800 which in Shushan לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת H6213 to do כְּדָ֣ת H1881 decree הַיּ֑וֹם H3117 also according unto this day's וְאֵ֛ת H853 עֲשֶׂ֥רֶת H6235 ten בְּנֵֽי־ H1121 sons הָמָ֖ן H2001 and let Haman's יִתְל֥וּ H8518 be hanged עַל־ H5921 on הָעֵֽץ׃ H6086 upon the gallows

¹⁴ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 commanded הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 And the king לְהֵֽעָשׂ֣וֹת H6213 it so to be done כֵּ֔ן H3651 so וַתִּנָּתֵ֥ן H5414 was given דָּ֖ת H1881 and the decree בְּשׁוּשָׁ֑ן H7800 at Shushan וְאֵ֛ת H853 עֲשֶׂ֥רֶת H6235 ten בְּנֵֽי־ H1121 sons הָמָ֖ן H2001 Haman's תָּלֽוּ׃ H8518 and they hanged

¹⁵ וַיִּֽקָּהֲל֞וּ H6950 gathered themselves together <הַיְּהוּדִיִּים כ> (הַיְּהוּדִ֣ים H3064 Jew ק) אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who בְּשׁוּשָׁ֗ן H7800 that in Shushan גַּ֠ם H1571 also בְּי֣וֹם H3117 day אַרְבָּעָ֤ה H702 four עָשָׂר֙ H6240 teen לְחֹ֣דֶשׁ H2320 also of the month אֲדָ֔ר H143 Adar וַיַּֽהַרְג֣וּ H2026 and slew בְשׁוּשָׁ֔ן H7800 at Shushan שְׁלֹ֥שׁ H7969 three מֵא֖וֹת H3967 hundred אִ֑ישׁ H376 men וּבַ֨בִּזָּ֔ה H961 but on the prey לֹ֥א H3808 did not שָׁלְח֖וּ H7971 they laid אֶת־ H853 יָדָֽם׃ H3027 not their hand

¹⁶ וּשְׁאָ֣ר H7605 But the other הַיְּהוּדִ֡ים H3064 Jews אֲשֶׁר֩ H834 after בִּמְדִינ֨וֹת H4082 provinces הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ H4428 that in the king's נִקְהֲל֣וּ ׀ H6950 gathered themselves together וְעָמֹ֣ד H5975 and stood עַל־ H5921 for נַפְשָׁ֗ם H5315 for their lives וְנ֙וֹחַ֙ H5118 and had rest מֵאֹ֣יְבֵיהֶ֔ם H341 from their enemies וְהָרֹג֙ H2026 and slew בְּשֹׂ֣נְאֵיהֶ֔ם H8130 of their foes חֲמִשָּׁ֥ה H2568 and five וְשִׁבְעִ֖ים H7657 seventy אָ֑לֶף H505 thousand וּבַ֨בִּזָּ֔ה H961 on the prey לֹ֥א H3808 did not שָֽׁלְח֖וּ H7971 but they laid אֶת־ H853 יָדָֽם׃ H3027 not their hands

¹⁷ בְּיוֹם־ H3117 day שְׁלֹשָׁ֥ה H7969 three עָשָׂ֖ר H6240 ten לְחֹ֣דֶשׁ H2320 of the month אֲדָ֑ר H143 Adar וְנ֗וֹחַ H5117 rested בְּאַרְבָּעָ֤ה H702 four עָשָׂר֙ H6240 teen בּ֔וֹ H0 וְעָשֹׂ֣ה H6213 they and made אֹת֔וֹ H853 י֖וֹם H3117 it a day מִשְׁתֶּ֥ה H4960 of feasting וְשִׂמְחָֽה׃ H8057 and gladness

¹⁸ <וְהַיְּהוּדִיִּים כ> (וְהַיְּהוּדִ֣ים H3064 Jew ק) אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who בְּשׁוּשָׁ֗ן H7800 that at Shushan נִקְהֲלוּ֙ H6950 assembled together בִּשְׁלֹשָׁ֤ה H7969 three עָשָׂר֙ H6240 ten בּ֔וֹ H0 וּבְאַרְבָּעָ֥ה H702 four עָשָׂ֖ר H6240 teen בּ֑וֹ H0 וְנ֗וֹחַ H5117 rested בַּחֲמִשָּׁ֤ה H2568 fif עָשָׂר֙ H6240 teen בּ֔וֹ H0 וְעָשֹׂ֣ה H6213 and made אֹת֔וֹ H853 י֖וֹם H3117 it a day מִשְׁתֶּ֥ה H4960 of feasting וְשִׂמְחָֽה׃ H8057 and gladness

¹⁹ עַל־ H5921 and כֵּ֞ן H3651 after that הַיְּהוּדִ֣ים H3064 Therefore the Jews <הַפְּרֹוזִים כ> (הַפְּרָזִ֗ים H6521 village ק) הַיֹּשְׁבִים֮ H3427 that dwelt בְּעָרֵ֣י H5892 towns הַפְּרָזוֹת֒ H6519 in the unwalled עֹשִׂ֗ים H6213 made אֵ֠ת H853 י֣וֹם H3117 day אַרְבָּעָ֤ה H702 four עָשָׂר֙ H6240 teen לְחֹ֣דֶשׁ H2320 of the month אֲדָ֔ר H143 Adar שִׂמְחָ֥ה H8057 gladness וּמִשְׁתֶּ֖ה H4960 and feasting וְי֣וֹם H3117 day ט֑וֹב H2896 and a good וּמִשְׁל֥וֹחַ H4916 and of sending מָנ֖וֹת H4490 portions אִ֥ישׁ H376 one לְרֵעֵֽהוּ׃ H7453 to another פ

²⁰ וַיִּכְתֹּ֣ב H3789 wrote מָרְדֳּכַ֔י H4782 And Mordecai אֶת־ H853 הַדְּבָרִ֖ים H1697 these things הָאֵ֑לֶּה H428 these וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח H7971 and sent סְפָרִ֜ים H5612 letters אֶל־ H413 to כָּל־ H3605 all הַיְּהוּדִ֗ים H3064 unto all the Jews אֲשֶׁר֙ H834 who בְּכָל־ H3605 all מְדִינוֹת֙ H4082 that in all the provinces הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 of the king אֲחַשְׁוֵר֔וֹשׁ H325 Ahasuerus הַקְּרוֹבִ֖ים H7138 nigh וְהָרְחוֹקִֽים׃ H7350 and far

²¹ לְקַיֵּם֮ H6965 To stablish עֲלֵיהֶם֒ H5921 and לִהְי֣וֹת H1961 become עֹשִׂ֗ים H6213 among them that they should keep אֵ֠ת H853 י֣וֹם H3117 day אַרְבָּעָ֤ה H702 four עָשָׂר֙ H6240 teen לְחֹ֣דֶשׁ H2320 of the month אֲדָ֔ר H143 Adar וְאֵ֛ת H853 יוֹם־ H3117 day חֲמִשָּׁ֥ה H2568 fif עָשָׂ֖ר H6240 teen בּ֑וֹ H0 בְּכָל־ H3605 all manner שָׁנָ֖ה H8141 whole age וְשָׁנָֽה׃ H8141 whole age

²² כַּיָּמִ֗ים H3117 As the days אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which נָ֨חוּ H5117 rested בָהֶ֤ם H0 הַיְּהוּדִים֙ H3064 wherein the Jews מֵא֣וֹיְבֵיהֶ֔ם H341 from their enemies וְהַחֹ֗דֶשׁ H2320 and the month אֲשֶׁר֩ H834 which נֶהְפַּ֨ךְ H2015 which was turned לָהֶ֤ם H1992 from מִיָּגוֹן֙ H3015 unto them from sorrow לְשִׂמְחָ֔ה H8057 to joy וּמֵאֵ֖בֶל H60 and from mourning לְי֣וֹם H3117 day ט֑וֹב H2896 into a good לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת H6213 that they should make אוֹתָ֗ם H853 יְמֵי֙ H3117 them days מִשְׁתֶּ֣ה H4960 of feasting וְשִׂמְחָ֔ה H8057 and joy וּמִשְׁל֤וֹחַ H4916 and of sending מָנוֹת֙ H4490 portions אִ֣ישׁ H376 one לְרֵעֵ֔הוּ H7453 to another וּמַתָּנ֖וֹת H4979 and gifts לָֽאֶבְיוֹנִֽים׃ H34 to the poor

²³ וְקִבֵּל֙ H6901 undertook הַיְּהוּדִ֔ים H3064 And the Jews אֵ֥ת H853 אֲשֶׁר־ H834 what הֵחֵ֖לּוּ H2490 as they had begun לַעֲשׂ֑וֹת H6213 to do וְאֵ֛ת H853 אֲשֶׁר־ H834 and what כָּתַ֥ב H3789 had written מָרְדֳּכַ֖י H4782 and as Mordecai אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ H413 about

²⁴ כִּי֩ H3588 For הָמָ֨ן H2001 Because Haman בֶּֽן־ H1121 the son הַמְּדָ֜תָא H4099 of Hammedatha הָֽאֲגָגִ֗י H91 the Agagite צֹרֵר֙ H6887 the enemy כָּל־ H3605 of all הַיְּהוּדִ֔ים H3064 of all the Jews חָשַׁ֥ב H2803 had devised עַל־ H5921 against הַיְּהוּדִ֖ים H3064 against the Jews לְאַבְּדָ֑ם H6 to destroy וְהִפִּ֥יל H5307 them and had cast פּוּר֙ H6332 Pur ה֣וּא H1931 that הַגּוֹרָ֔ל H1486 that the lot לְהֻמָּ֖ם H2000 to consume וּֽלְאַבְּדָֽם׃ H6 them and to destroy

²⁵ וּבְבֹאָהּ֮ H935 But when came לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 before הַמֶּלֶךְ֒ H4428 the king אָמַ֣ר H559 he commanded עִם־ H5973 by הַסֵּ֔פֶר H5612 by letters יָשׁ֞וּב H7725 should return מַחֲשַׁבְתּ֧וֹ H4284 device הָרָעָ֛ה H7451 that his wicked אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which חָשַׁ֥ב H2803 which he devised עַל־ H5921 against הַיְּהוּדִ֖ים H3064 against the Jews עַל־ H5921 against רֹאשׁ֑וֹ H7218 upon his own head וְתָל֥וּ H8518 should be hanged אֹת֛וֹ H853 וְאֶת־ H853 בָּנָ֖יו H1121 and that he and his sons עַל־ H5921 against הָעֵֽץ׃ H6086 on the gallows

²⁶ עַל־ H5921 after כֵּ֡ן H3651 after that קָֽרְאוּ֩ H7121 Wherefore they called לַיָּמִ֨ים H3117 these days הָאֵ֤לֶּה H428 these פוּרִים֙ H6332 Purim עַל־ H5921 and because שֵׁ֣ם H8034 after the name הַפּ֔וּר H6332 of Pur עַל־ H5921 and because כֵּ֕ן H3651 after that עַל־ H5921 and because כָּל־ H3605 all manner דִּבְרֵ֖י H1697 Therefore for all the words הָאִגֶּ֣רֶת H107 of this letter הַזֹּ֑את H2063 both וּמָֽה־ H4100 what רָא֣וּ H7200 and which they had seen עַל־ H5921 and because כָּ֔כָה H3602 concerning this matter וּמָ֥ה H4100 and what הִגִּ֖יעַ H5060 and which had come אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ H413 about

²⁷ קִיְּמ֣וּ H6965 ordained <וְקִבֵּל כ> (וְקִבְּל֣וּ H6901 choose ק) הַיְּהוּדִים֩ ׀ H3064 The Jews עֲלֵיהֶ֨ם ׀ H5921 and וְעַל־ H5921 and for זַרְעָ֜ם H2233 upon them and upon their seed וְעַ֨ל H5921 and כָּל־ H3605 and for all הַנִּלְוִ֤ים H3867 and upon all such as joined עֲלֵיהֶם֙ H5921 and וְלֹ֣א H3808 not יַעֲב֔וֹר H5674 themselves unto them so as it should not fail לִהְי֣וֹת H1961 become עֹשִׂ֗ים H6213 that they would keep אֵ֣ת H853 שְׁנֵ֤י H8147 these two הַיָּמִים֙ H3117 days הָאֵ֔לֶּה H428 these כִּכְתָבָ֖ם H3791 according to their writing וְכִזְמַנָּ֑ם H2165 and according to their time בְּכָל־ H3605 and for all שָׁנָ֖ה H8141 whole age וְשָׁנָֽה׃ H8141 whole age

²⁸ וְהַיָּמִ֣ים H3117 And these days הָ֠אֵלֶּה H428 these נִזְכָּרִ֨ים H2142 remembered וְנַעֲשִׂ֜ים H6213 and kept בְּכָל־ H3605 throughout דּ֣וֹר H1755 throughout וָד֗וֹר H1755 every generation מִשְׁפָּחָה֙ H4940 every family וּמִשְׁפָּחָ֔ה H4940 family מְדִינָ֥ה H4082 every province וּמְדִינָ֖ה H4082 province וְעִ֣יר H5892 and every city וָעִ֑יר H5892 city וִימֵ֞י H3117 and these days הַפּוּרִ֣ים H6332 of Purim הָאֵ֗לֶּה H428 and these לֹ֤א H3808 were not יַֽעַבְרוּ֙ H5674 should not fail מִתּ֣וֹךְ H8432 from among הַיְּהוּדִ֔ים H3064 the Jews וְזִכְרָ֖ם H2143 nor the memorial לֹא־ H3808 not יָס֥וּף H5486 of them perish מִזַּרְעָֽם׃ H2233 from their seed ס

²⁹ וַ֠תִּכְתֹּב H3789 wrote אֶסְתֵּ֨ר H635 Then Esther הַמַּלְכָּ֧ה H4436 the queen בַת־ H1323 the daughter אֲבִיחַ֛יִל H32 of Abihail וּמָרְדֳּכַ֥י H4782 and Mordecai הַיְּהוּדִ֖י H3064 the Jew אֶת־ H854 with כָּל־ H3605 full תֹּ֑קֶף H8633 with all authority לְקַיֵּ֗ם H6965 to confirm אֵ֣ת H853 אִגֶּ֧רֶת H107 letter הַפּוּרִ֛ים H6332 of Purim הַזֹּ֖את H2063 likewise הַשֵּׁנִֽית׃ H8145 this second

³⁰ וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח H7971 And he sent סְפָרִ֜ים H5612 the letters אֶל־ H413 about כָּל־ H3605 all הַיְּהוּדִ֗ים H3064 unto all the Jews אֶל־ H413 and to שֶׁ֨בַע H7651 and seven וְעֶשְׂרִ֤ים H6242 twenty וּמֵאָה֙ H3967 to the hundred מְדִינָ֔ה H4082 provinces מַלְכ֖וּת H4438 of the kingdom אֲחַשְׁוֵר֑וֹשׁ H325 of Ahasuerus דִּבְרֵ֥י H1697 words שָׁל֖וֹם H7965 of peace וֶאֱמֶֽת׃ H571 and truth

³¹ לְקַיֵּ֡ם H6965 To confirm אֵת־ H853 יְמֵי֩ H3117 these days הַפֻּרִ֨ים H6332 of Purim הָאֵ֜לֶּה H428 these בִּזְמַנֵּיהֶ֗ם H2165 in their times כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ H834 after קִיַּ֨ם H6965 had enjoined עֲלֵיהֶ֜ם H5921 as מָרְדֳּכַ֤י H4782 according as Mordecai הַיְּהוּדִי֙ H3064 the Jew וְאֶסְתֵּ֣ר H635 and Esther הַמַּלְכָּ֔ה H4436 the queen וְכַאֲשֶׁ֛ר H834 as they קִיְּמ֥וּ H6965 them and as they had decreed עַל־ H5921 for נַפְשָׁ֖ם H5315 for themselves וְעַל־ H5921 and for זַרְעָ֑ם H2233 and for their seed דִּבְרֵ֥י H1697 the matters הַצֹּמ֖וֹת H6685 of the fastings וְזַעֲקָתָֽם׃ H2201 and their cry

³² וּמַאֲמַ֣ר H3982 And the decree אֶסְתֵּ֔ר H635 of Esther קִיַּ֕ם H6965 confirmed דִּבְרֵ֥י H1697 these matters הַפֻּרִ֖ים H6332 of Purim הָאֵ֑לֶּה H428 these וְנִכְתָּ֖ב H3789 and it was written בַּסֵּֽפֶר׃ H5612 in the book פ
