¹ וַיְהִ֗י H1961 came בִּימֵי֙ H3117 Now it came to pass in the days שְׁפֹ֣ט H8199 when the judges הַשֹּׁפְטִ֔ים H8199 ruled וַיְהִ֥י H1961 came רָעָ֖ב H7458 that there was a famine בָּאָ֑רֶץ H776 in the land וַיֵּ֨לֶךְ H1980 went אִ֜ישׁ H376 And a certain man מִבֵּ֧ית H0 לֶ֣חֶם H1035 of Bethlehem יְהוּדָ֗ה H3063 Judah לָגוּר֙ H1481 to sojourn בִּשְׂדֵ֣י H7704 in the country מוֹאָ֔ב H4124 of Moab ה֥וּא H1931 he וְאִשְׁתּ֖וֹ H802 he and his wife וּשְׁנֵ֥י H8147 and his two בָנָֽיו׃ H1121 sons

² וְשֵׁ֣ם H8034 And the name הָאִ֣ישׁ H376 of the man אֱ‍ֽלִימֶ֡לֶךְ H458 Elimelech וְשֵׁם֩ H8034 and the name אִשְׁתּ֨וֹ H802 of his wife נָעֳמִ֜י H5281 Naomi וְשֵׁ֥ם H8034 and the name שְׁנֵֽי־ H8147 of his two בָנָ֣יו ׀ H1121 sons מַחְל֤וֹן H4248 Mahlon וְכִלְיוֹן֙ H3630 and Chilion אֶפְרָתִ֔ים H673 Ephrathites מִבֵּ֥ית H0 לֶ֖חֶם H1035 of Bethlehem יְהוּדָ֑ה H3063 Judah וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ H935 And they came שְׂדֵי־ H7704 into the country מוֹאָ֖ב H4124 of Moab וַיִּֽהְיוּ־ H1961 and remained שָֽׁם׃ H8033 there

³ וַיָּ֥מָת H4191 died אֱלִימֶ֖לֶךְ H458 And Elimelech אִ֣ישׁ H376 husband נָעֳמִ֑י H5281 Naomi's וַתִּשָּׁאֵ֥ר H7604 and she was left הִ֖יא H1931 he וּשְׁנֵ֥י H8147 and her two בָנֶֽיהָ׃ H1121 sons

⁴ וַיִּשְׂא֣וּ H5375 And they took לָהֶ֗ם H0 נָשִׁים֙ H802 them wives מֹֽאֲבִיּ֔וֹת H4125 of Moab שֵׁ֤ם H8034 the name הָֽאַחַת֙ H259 of the one עָרְפָּ֔ה H6204 Orpah וְשֵׁ֥ם H8034 and the name הַשֵּׁנִ֖ית H8145 of the other ר֑וּת H7327 Ruth וַיֵּ֥שְׁבוּ H3427 and they dwelled שָׁ֖ם H8033 there כְּעֶ֥שֶׂר H6235 there about ten שָׁנִֽים׃ H8141 years

⁵ וַיָּמ֥וּתוּ H4191 died גַם־ H1571 also שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם H8147 also both מַחְל֣וֹן H4248 And Mahlon וְכִלְי֑וֹן H3630 and Chilion וַתִּשָּׁאֵר֙ H7604 was left הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה H802 of them and the woman מִשְּׁנֵ֥י H8147 of her two יְלָדֶ֖יהָ H3206 sons וּמֵאִישָֽׁהּ׃ H376 and her husband

⁶ וַתָּ֤קָם H6965 Then she arose הִיא֙ H1931 he וְכַלֹּתֶ֔יהָ H3618 with her daughters in law וַתָּ֖שָׁב H7725 that she might return מִשְּׂדֵ֣י H7704 from the country מוֹאָ֑ב H4124 of Moab כִּ֤י H3588 for שָֽׁמְעָה֙ H8085 for she had heard בִּשְׂדֵ֣ה H7704 in the country מוֹאָ֔ב H4124 of Moab כִּֽי־ H3588 for פָקַ֤ד H6485 had visited יְהוָה֙ H3069 God אֶת־ H853 עַמּ֔וֹ H5971 his people לָתֵ֥ת H5414 in giving לָהֶ֖ם H0 לָֽחֶם׃ H3899 them bread

⁷ וַתֵּצֵ֗א H3318 Wherefore she went forth מִן־ H4480 from הַמָּקוֹם֙ H4725 out of the place אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 after הָיְתָה־ H1961 become שָׁ֔מָּה H8033 in it וּשְׁתֵּ֥י H8147 where she was and her two כַלֹּתֶ֖יהָ H3618 daughters in law עִמָּ֑הּ H5973 her and they וַתֵּלַ֣כְנָה H1980 went בַדֶּ֔רֶךְ H1870 on the way לָשׁ֖וּב H7725 to return אֶל־ H413 to אֶ֥רֶץ H776 unto the land יְהוּדָֽה׃ H3063 of Judah

⁸ וַתֹּ֤אמֶר H559 said נָעֳמִי֙ H5281 And Naomi לִשְׁתֵּ֣י H8147 unto her two כַלֹּתֶ֔יהָ H3618 daughters in law לֵ֣כְנָה H1980 Go שֹּׁ֔בְנָה H7725 return אִשָּׁ֖ה H802 each לְבֵ֣ית H1004 house אִמָּ֑הּ H517 to her mother's <יַעֲשֶׂה כ> (יַ֣עַשׂ H6213 deal ק) יְהוָ֤ה H3068 the LORD עִמָּכֶם֙ H5973 with חֶ֔סֶד H2617 kindly כַּאֲשֶׁ֧ר H834 after עֲשִׂיתֶ֛ם H6213 deal עִם־ H5973 with הַמֵּתִ֖ים H4191 with the dead וְעִמָּדִֽי׃ H5973 with

⁹ יִתֵּ֤ן H5414 grant יְהוָה֙ H3068 The LORD לָכֶ֔ם H0 וּמְצֶ֣אןָ H4672 you that ye may find מְנוּחָ֔ה H4496 rest אִשָּׁ֖ה H802 each בֵּ֣ית H1004 in the house אִישָׁ֑הּ H376 of her husband וַתִּשַּׁ֣ק H5401 Then she kissed לָהֶ֔ן H0 וַתִּשֶּׂ֥אנָה H5375 them and they lifted up קוֹלָ֖ן H6963 their voice וַתִּבְכֶּֽינָה׃ H1058 and wept

¹⁰ וַתֹּאמַ֖רְנָה־ H559 And they said לָּ֑הּ H0 כִּי־ H3588 will surely אִתָּ֥ךְ H854 for נָשׁ֖וּב H7725 unto her Surely we will return לְעַמֵּֽךְ׃ H5971 with thee unto thy people

¹¹ וַתֹּ֤אמֶר H559 said נָעֳמִי֙ H5281 And Naomi שֹׁ֣בְנָה H7725 Turn again בְנֹתַ֔י H1323 my daughters לָ֥מָּה H4100 Why תֵלַ֖כְנָה H1980 go עִמִּ֑י H5973 have I הַֽעֽוֹד־ H5750 yet לִ֤י H0 בָנִים֙ H1121 with me? there yet sons בְּֽמֵעַ֔י H4578 in my womb וְהָי֥וּ H1961 become לָכֶ֖ם H0 לַאֲנָשִֽׁים׃ H376 he

¹² שֹׁ֤בְנָה H7725 Turn again בְנֹתַי֙ H1323 my daughters לֵ֔כְןָ H1980 Go כִּ֥י H3588 If זָקַ֖נְתִּי H2204 for I am too old מִהְי֣וֹת H1961 to have לְאִ֑ישׁ H376 to have an husband כִּ֤י H3588 If אָמַ֙רְתִּי֙ H559 If I should say יֶשׁ־ H3426 I have לִ֣י H0 תִקְוָ֔ה H8615 hope גַּ֣ם H1571 even הָיִ֤יתִי H1961 have הַלַּ֙יְלָה֙ H3915 also to night לְאִ֔ישׁ H376 I should have an husband וְגַ֖ם H1571 and also יָלַ֥דְתִּי H3205 and should also bear בָנִֽים׃ H1121 sons

¹³ הֲלָהֵ֣ן ׀ H3860 for them תְּשַׂבֵּ֗רְנָה H7663 Would ye tarry עַ֚ד H5704 against אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 after יִגְדָּ֔לוּ H1431 till they were grown הֲלָהֵן֙ H3860 for them תֵּֽעָגֵ֔נָה H5702 ? would ye stay לְבִלְתִּ֖י H1115 because הֱי֣וֹת H1961 become לְאִ֑ישׁ H376 he אַ֣ל H408 nay בְּנֹתַ֗י H1323 my daughters כִּֽי־ H3588 for מַר־ H4843 for it grieveth לִ֤י H0 מְאֹד֙ H3966 me much מִכֶּ֔ם H4480 than כִּֽי־ H3588 for יָצְאָ֥ה H3318 is gone out בִ֖י H0 יַד־ H3027 for your sakes that the hand יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 of the LORD

¹⁴ וַתִּשֶּׂ֣נָה H5375 And they lifted up קוֹלָ֔ן H6963 their voice וַתִּבְכֶּ֖ינָה H1058 and wept again ע֑וֹד H5750 again וַתִּשַּׁ֤ק H5401 kissed עָרְפָּה֙ H6204 and Orpah לַחֲמוֹתָ֔הּ H2545 her mother in law וְר֖וּת H7327 but Ruth דָּ֥בְקָה H1692 clave בָּֽהּ׃ H0

¹⁵ וַתֹּ֗אמֶר H559 And she said הִנֵּה֙ H2009 Behold שָׁ֣בָה H7725 is gone back יְבִמְתֵּ֔ךְ H2994 Behold thy sister in law אֶל־ H413 to her עַמָּ֖הּ H5971 unto her people וְאֶל־ H413 and אֱלֹהֶ֑יהָ H430 and unto her gods שׁ֖וּבִי H7725 return אַחֲרֵ֥י H310 thou after יְבִמְתֵּֽךְ׃ H2994 thy sister in law

¹⁶ וַתֹּ֤אמֶר H559 said רוּת֙ H7327 And Ruth אַל־ H408 not תִּפְגְּעִי־ H6293 Intreat בִ֔י H0 לְעָזְבֵ֖ךְ H5800 me not to leave לָשׁ֣וּב H7725 thee to return מֵאַחֲרָ֑יִךְ H310 from following after כִּ֠י H3588 for אֶל־ H413 and אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 where תֵּלְכִ֜י H1980 go אֵלֵ֗ךְ H1980 will go וּבַאֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 and where תָּלִ֙ינִי֙ H3885 and where thou lodgest אָלִ֔ין H3885 I will lodge עַמֵּ֣ךְ H5971 thy people עַמִּ֔י H5971 my people וֵאלֹהַ֖יִךְ H430 and thy God אֱלֹהָֽי׃ H430 my God

¹⁷ בַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 Where תָּמ֙וּתִי֙ H4191 Where thou diest אָמ֔וּת H4191 will I die וְשָׁ֖ם H8033 and there אֶקָּבֵ֑ר H6912 and there will I be buried כֹּה֩ H3541 Thus יַעֲשֶׂ֨ה H6213 do יְהוָ֥ה H3068 the LORD לִי֙ H0 וְכֹ֣ה H3541 Thus יֹסִ֔יף H3254 so to me and more כִּ֣י H3588 if הַמָּ֔וֶת H4194 also but death יַפְרִ֖יד H6504 part בֵּינִ֥י H996 among וּבֵינֵֽךְ׃ H996 among

¹⁸ וַתֵּ֕רֶא H7200 When she saw כִּֽי־ H3588 for מִתְאַמֶּ֥צֶת H553 that she was stedfastly minded הִ֖יא H1931 he לָלֶ֣כֶת H1980 to go אִתָּ֑הּ H854 for וַתֶּחְדַּ֖ל H2308 with her then she left לְדַבֵּ֥ר H1696 speaking אֵלֶֽיהָ׃ H413 about

¹⁹ וַתֵּלַ֣כְנָה H1980 went שְׁתֵּיהֶ֔ם H8147 So they two עַד־ H5704 until בֹּאָ֖נָה H935 until they came בֵּ֣ית H0 לָ֑חֶם H1035 to Bethlehem וַיְהִ֗י H1961 become כְּבֹאָ֙נָה֙ H935 And it came to pass when they were come בֵּ֣ית H0 לֶ֔חֶם H1035 to Bethlehem וַתֵּהֹ֤ם H1949 was moved כָּל־ H3605 all הָעִיר֙ H5892 that all the city עֲלֵיהֶ֔ן H5921 because וַתֹּאמַ֖רְנָה H559 about them and they said הֲזֹ֥את H2063 likewise נָעֳמִֽי׃ H5281 Naomi

²⁰ וַתֹּ֣אמֶר H559 And she said אֲלֵיהֶ֔ן H413 about אַל־ H408 not תִּקְרֶ֥אנָה H7121 unto them Call לִ֖י H0 נָעֳמִ֑י H5281 me not Naomi קְרֶ֤אןָ H7121 call לִי֙ H0 מָרָ֔א H4755 me Mara כִּי־ H3588 for הֵמַ֥ר H4843 bitterly שַׁדַּ֛י H7706 for the Almighty לִ֖י H0 מְאֹֽד׃ H3966 hath dealt very

²¹ אֲנִי֙ H589 I מְלֵאָ֣ה H4390 accomplish הָלַ֔כְתִּי H1980 I went out וְרֵיקָ֖ם H7387 empty הֱשִׁיבַ֣נִי H7725 hath brought me home again יְהוָ֑ה H3068 and the LORD לָ֣מָּה H4100 Why תִקְרֶ֤אנָה H7121 why call לִי֙ H0 נָעֳמִ֔י H5281 ye me Naomi וַֽיהוָה֙ H3068 seeing the LORD עָ֣נָה H6030 hath testified בִ֔י H0 וְשַׁדַּ֖י H7706 against me and the Almighty הֵ֥רַֽע H7489 hath afflicted לִֽי׃ H0

²² וַתָּ֣שָׁב H7725 returned נָעֳמִ֗י H5281 So Naomi וְר֨וּת H7327 and Ruth הַמּוֹאֲבִיָּ֤ה H4125 the Moabitess כַלָּתָהּ֙ H3618 her daughter in law עִמָּ֔הּ H5973 who הַשָּׁ֖בָה H7725 with her which returned מִשְּׂדֵ֣י H7704 out of the country מוֹאָ֑ב H4124 of Moab וְהֵ֗מָּה H1992 and they בָּ֚אוּ H935 and they came בֵּ֣ית H0 לֶ֔חֶם H1035 to Bethlehem בִּתְחִלַּ֖ת H8462 in the beginning קְצִ֥יר H7105 harvest שְׂעֹרִֽים׃ H8184 of barley

¹ וּֽלְנָעֳמִ֞י H5281 And Naomi <מְיֻדָּע כ> (מֹודַ֣ע H3045 acknowledge ק) לְאִישָׁ֗הּ H376 of her husband's אִ֚ישׁ H376 man גִּבּ֣וֹר H1368 a mighty חַ֔יִל H2428 of wealth מִמִּשְׁפַּ֖חַת H4940 of the family אֱלִימֶ֑לֶךְ H458 of Elimelech וּשְׁמ֖וֹ H8034 and his name בֹּֽעַז׃ H1162 Boaz

² וַתֹּאמֶר֩ H559 said ר֨וּת H7327 And Ruth הַמּוֹאֲבִיָּ֜ה H4125 the Moabitess אֶֽל־ H413 to נָעֳמִ֗י H5281 unto Naomi אֵֽלְכָה־ H1980 go נָּ֤א H4994 Please הַשָּׂדֶה֙ H7704 to the field וַאֲלַקֳטָ֣ה H3950 and glean בַשִּׁבֳּלִ֔ים H7641 ears of corn אַחַ֕ר H310 after אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 whose אֶמְצָא־ H4672 I shall find חֵ֖ן H2580 grace בְּעֵינָ֑יו H5869 in whose sight וַתֹּ֥אמֶר H559 And she said לָ֖הּ H0 לְכִ֥י H1980 to her Go בִתִּֽי׃ H1323 my daughter

³ וַתֵּ֤לֶךְ H1980 departed וַתָּבוֹא֙ H935 and came וַתְּלַקֵּ֣ט H3950 and gleaned בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה H7704 in the field אַחֲרֵ֖י H310 after הַקֹּצְרִ֑ים H7114 the reapers וַיִּ֣קֶר H7136 was to light מִקְרֶ֔הָ H4745 and her hap חֶלְקַ֤ת H2513 on a part הַשָּׂדֶה֙ H7704 of the field לְבֹ֔עַז H1162 unto Boaz אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 who מִמִּשְׁפַּ֥חַת H4940 who of the kindred אֱלִימֶֽלֶךְ׃ H458 of Elimelech

⁴ וְהִנֵּה־ H2009 now behold בֹ֗עַז H1162 And behold Boaz בָּ֚א H935 came מִבֵּ֣ית H0 לֶ֔חֶם H1035 from Bethlehem וַיֹּ֥אמֶר H559 and said לַקּוֹצְרִ֖ים H7114 unto the reapers יְהוָ֣ה H3068 The LORD עִמָּכֶ֑ם H5973 and they וַיֹּ֥אמְרוּ H559 with you And they answered ל֖וֹ H0 יְבָרֶכְךָ֥ H1288 bless יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 him The LORD

⁵ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 Then said בֹּ֙עַז֙ H1162 Boaz לְנַעֲר֔וֹ H5288 unto his servant הַנִּצָּ֖ב H5324 that was set עַל־ H5921 of הַקּֽוֹצְרִ֑ים H7114 over the reapers לְמִ֖י H4310 Whose הַנַּעֲרָ֥ה H5291 Whose damsel הַזֹּֽאת׃ H2063 likewise

⁶ וַיַּ֗עַן H6030 answered הַנַּ֛עַר H5288 And the servant הַנִּצָּ֥ב H5324 that was set עַל־ H5921 of הַקּוֹצְרִ֖ים H7114 over the reapers וַיֹּאמַ֑ר H559 and said נַעֲרָ֤ה H5291 damsel מֽוֹאֲבִיָּה֙ H4125 It the Moabitish הִ֔יא H1931 who הַשָּׁ֥בָה H7725 that came back עִֽם־ H5973 with נָעֳמִ֖י H5281 with Naomi מִשְּׂדֵ֥ה H7704 out of the country מוֹאָֽב׃ H4124 of Moab

⁷ וַתֹּ֗אמֶר H559 And she said אֲלַקֳטָה־ H3950 I pray you let me glean נָּא֙ H4994 Please וְאָסַפְתִּ֣י H622 and gather בָֽעֳמָרִ֔ים H6016 among the sheaves אַחֲרֵ֖י H310 after הַקּוֹצְרִ֑ים H7114 the reapers וַתָּב֣וֹא H935 so she came וַֽתַּעֲמ֗וֹד H5975 and hath continued מֵאָ֤ז H227 even הַבֹּ֙קֶר֙ H1242 from the morning וְעַד־ H5704 until עַ֔תָּה H6258 now זֶ֛ה H2088 she שִׁבְתָּ֥הּ H3427 until now that she tarried הַבַּ֖יִת H1004 in the house מְעָֽט׃ H4592 a little

⁸ וַיֹּאמֶר֩ H559 Then said בֹּ֨עַז H1162 Boaz אֶל־ H413 to ר֜וּת H7327 unto Ruth הֲל֧וֹא H3808 carefully שָׁמַ֣עַתְּ H8085 Hearest בִּתִּ֗י H1323 my daughter אַל־ H408 not תֵּלְכִי֙ H1980 go לִלְקֹט֙ H3950 not to glean בְּשָׂדֶ֣ה H7704 field אַחֵ֔ר H312 in another וְגַ֛ם H1571 furthermore לֹ֥א H3808 carefully תַעֲבוּרִ֖י H5674 neither go מִזֶּ֑ה H2088 this וְכֹ֥ה H3541 here תִדְבָּקִ֖ין H1692 from hence but abide עִם־ H5973 with נַעֲרֹתָֽי׃ H5291 here fast by my maidens

⁹ עֵינַ֜יִךְ H5869 thine eyes בַּשָּׂדֶ֤ה H7704 on the field אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which יִקְצֹרוּן֙ H7114 that they do reap וְהָלַ֣כְתְּ H1980 and go אַחֲרֵיהֶ֔ן H310 thou after הֲל֥וֹא H3808 Indeed צִוִּ֛יתִי H6680 them have I not charged אֶת־ H853 הַנְּעָרִ֖ים H5288 the young men לְבִלְתִּ֣י H1115 not נָגְעֵ֑ךְ H5060 that they shall not touch וְצָמִ֗ת H6770 thee? and when thou art athirst וְהָלַכְתְּ֙ H1980 go אֶל־ H413 about הַכֵּלִ֔ים H3627 unto the vessels וְשָׁתִ֕ית H8354 and drink מֵאֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 what יִשְׁאֲב֖וּן H7579 have drawn הַנְּעָרִֽים׃ H5288 of which the young men

¹⁰ וַתִּפֹּל֙ H5307 Then she fell עַל־ H5921 on פָּנֶ֔יהָ H6440 on her face וַתִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ H7812 and bowed אָ֑רְצָה H776 herself to the ground וַתֹּ֣אמֶר H559 and said אֵלָ֗יו H413 to him מַדּוּעַ֩ H4069 Why מָצָ֨אתִי H4672 unto him Why have I found חֵ֤ן H2580 grace בְּעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙ H5869 in thine eyes לְהַכִּירֵ֔נִי H5234 that thou shouldest take knowledge וְאָנֹכִ֖י H595 I נָכְרִיָּֽה׃ H5237 alien

¹¹ וַיַּ֤עַן H6030 answered בֹּ֙עַז֙ H1162 And Boaz וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 and said לָ֔הּ H0 הֻגֵּ֨ד H5046 unto her It hath fully הֻגַּ֜ד H5046 been shewed לִ֗י H0 כֹּ֤ל H3605 to her All אֲשֶׁר־ H834 you עָשִׂית֙ H6213 me all that thou hast done אֶת־ H854 for חֲמוֹתֵ֔ךְ H2545 unto thy mother in law אַחֲרֵ֖י H310 since מ֣וֹת H4194 the death אִישֵׁ֑ךְ H376 of thine husband וַתַּֽעַזְבִ֞י H5800 and thou hast left אָבִ֣יךְ H1 thy father וְאִמֵּ֗ךְ H517 and thy mother וְאֶ֙רֶץ֙ H776 and the land מֽוֹלַדְתֵּ֔ךְ H4138 of thy nativity וַתֵּ֣לְכִ֔י H1980 and came אֶל־ H413 to עַ֕ם H5971 unto a people אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 after לֹא־ H3808 not יָדַ֖עַתְּ H3045 which thou knewest תְּמ֥וֹל H8543 before שִׁלְשֽׁוֹם׃ H8032 before that time

¹² יְשַׁלֵּ֥ם H7999 recompense יְהוָ֖ה H3068 The LORD פָּעֳלֵ֑ךְ H6467 thy work וּתְהִ֨י H1961 become מַשְׂכֻּרְתֵּ֜ךְ H4909 reward שְׁלֵמָ֗ה H8003 and a full מֵעִ֤ם H5973 from יְהוָה֙ H3068 be given thee of the LORD אֱלֹהֵ֣י H430 God יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 of Israel אֲשֶׁר־ H834 whose בָּ֖את H935 thou art come לַחֲס֥וֹת H2620 to trust תַּֽחַת־ H8478 under כְּנָפָֽיו׃ H3671 under whose wings

¹³ וַ֠תֹּאמֶר H559 Then she said אֶמְצָא־ H4672 Let me find חֵ֨ן H2580 favour בְּעֵינֶ֤יךָ H5869 in thy sight אֲדֹנִי֙ H113 my lord כִּ֣י H3588 and indeed נִֽחַמְתָּ֔נִי H5162 for that thou hast comforted וְכִ֥י H3588 and indeed דִבַּ֖רְתָּ H1696 me and for that thou hast spoken עַל־ H5921 and לֵ֣ב H3820 friendly שִׁפְחָתֶ֑ךָ H8198 unto thine handmaid וְאָנֹכִי֙ H595 I לֹ֣א H3808 not אֶֽהְיֶ֔ה H1961 I am כְּאַחַ֖ת H259 though I be not like unto one שִׁפְחֹתֶֽיךָ׃ H8198 of thine handmaidens

¹⁴ וַיֹּאמֶר֩ H559 said לָ֨ה H0 בֹ֜עַז H1162 And Boaz לְעֵ֣ת H6256 after הָאֹ֗כֶל H400 eating גֹּ֤שִֽׁי H5066 come הֲלֹם֙ H1988 thou hither וְאָכַ֣לְתְּ H398 and eat מִן־ H4480 at הַלֶּ֔חֶם H3899 of the bread וְטָבַ֥לְתְּ H2881 and dip פִּתֵּ֖ךְ H6595 thy morsel בַּחֹ֑מֶץ H2558 in the vinegar וַתֵּ֙שֶׁב֙ H3427 And she sat מִצַּ֣ד H6654 beside הַקּֽוֹצְרִ֔ים H7114 the reapers וַיִּצְבָּט־ H6642 and he reached לָ֣הּ H0 קָלִ֔י H7039 her parched וַתֹּ֥אכַל H398 and she did eat וַתִּשְׂבַּ֖ע H7646 and was sufficed וַתֹּתַֽר׃ H3498 and left

¹⁵ וַתָּ֖קָם H6965 And when she was risen up לְלַקֵּ֑ט H3950 to glean וַיְצַו֩ H6680 commanded בֹּ֨עַז H1162 Boaz אֶת־ H853 נְעָרָ֜יו H5288 his young men לֵאמֹ֗ר H559 saying גַּ֣ם H1571 even בֵּ֧ין H996 among הָֽעֳמָרִ֛ים H6016 even among the sheaves תְּלַקֵּ֖ט H3950 Let her glean וְלֹ֥א H3808 not תַכְלִימֽוּהָ׃ H3637 and reproach

¹⁶ וְגַ֛ם H1571 Also שֹׁל־ H7997 And let fall תָּשֹׁ֥לּוּ H7997 of purpose לָ֖הּ H0 מִן־ H4480 from הַצְּבָתִ֑ים H6653 also of the handfuls וַעֲזַבְתֶּ֥ם H5800 for her and leave וְלִקְּטָ֖ה H3950 that she may glean וְלֹ֥א H3808 not תִגְעֲרוּ־ H1605 and rebuke בָֽהּ׃ H0

¹⁷ וַתְּלַקֵּ֥ט H3950 So she gleaned בַּשָּׂדֶ֖ה H7704 in the field עַד־ H5704 until הָעָ֑רֶב H6153 until even וַתַּחְבֹּט֙ H2251 and beat out אֵ֣ת H853 אֲשֶׁר־ H834 what לִקֵּ֔טָה H3950 that she had gleaned וַיְהִ֖י H1961 become כְּאֵיפָ֥ה H374 and it was about an ephah שְׂעֹרִֽים׃ H8184 of barley

¹⁸ וַתִּשָּׂא֙ H5375 And she took up וַתָּב֣וֹא H935 and went הָעִ֔יר H5892 into the city וַתֵּ֥רֶא H7200 saw חֲמוֹתָ֖הּ H2545 and her mother in law אֵ֣ת H853 אֲשֶׁר־ H834 what לִקֵּ֑טָה H3950 what she had gleaned וַתּוֹצֵא֙ H3318 and she brought forth וַתִּתֶּן־ H5414 and gave לָ֔הּ H0 אֵ֥ת H853 אֲשֶׁר־ H834 what הוֹתִ֖רָה H3498 to her that she had reserved מִשָּׂבְעָֽהּ׃ H7648 after she was sufficed

¹⁹ וַתֹּאמֶר֩ H559 said לָ֨הּ H0 חֲמוֹתָ֜הּ H2545 And her mother in law אֵיפֹ֨ה H375 to her Where לִקַּ֤טְתְּ H3950 unto her Where hast thou gleaned הַיּוֹם֙ H3117 to day וְאָ֣נָה H575 and where עָשִׂ֔ית H6213 wroughtest יְהִ֥י H1961 become מַכִּירֵ֖ךְ H5234 be he that did take knowledge בָּר֑וּךְ H1288 thou? blessed וַתַּגֵּ֣ד H5046 of thee And she shewed לַחֲמוֹתָ֗הּ H2545 her mother in law אֵ֤ת H853 אֲשֶׁר־ H834 whom עָשְׂתָה֙ H6213 with whom she had wrought עִמּ֔וֹ H5973 with וַתֹּ֗אמֶר H559 and said שֵׁ֤ם H8034 name הָאִישׁ֙ H376 The man's אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 whom עָשִׂ֧יתִי H6213 with whom I wrought עִמּ֛וֹ H5973 with הַיּ֖וֹם H3117 today בֹּֽעַז׃ H1162 Boaz

²⁰ וַתֹּ֨אמֶר H559 said נָעֳמִ֜י H5281 And Naomi לְכַלָּתָ֗הּ H3618 unto her daughter in law בָּר֥וּךְ H1288 Blessed הוּא֙ H1931 he לַיהוָ֔ה H3068 he of the LORD אֲשֶׁר֙ H834 who לֹא־ H3808 has not עָזַ֣ב H5800 who hath not left off חַסְדּ֔וֹ H2617 his kindness אֶת־ H854 for הַחַיִּ֖ים H2416 to the living וְאֶת־ H854 and to הַמֵּתִ֑ים H4191 and to the dead וַתֹּ֧אמֶר H559 said לָ֣הּ H0 נָעֳמִ֗י H5281 And Naomi קָר֥וֹב H7138 near of kin לָ֙נוּ֙ H0 הָאִ֔ישׁ H376 unto her The man מִֽגֹּאֲלֵ֖נוּ H1350 unto us one of our next kinsmen הֽוּא׃ H1931 he

²¹ וַתֹּ֖אמֶר H559 said ר֣וּת H7327 And Ruth הַמּוֹאֲבִיָּ֑ה H4125 the Moabitess גַּ֣ם ׀ H1571 Furthermore כִּי־ H3588 for אָמַ֣ר H559 He said אֵלַ֗י H413 about עִם־ H5973 with הַנְּעָרִ֤ים H5288 by my young men אֲשֶׁר־ H834 after לִי֙ H0 תִּדְבָּקִ֔ין H1692 unto me also Thou shalt keep fast עַ֣ד H5704 against אִם־ H518 lo כִּלּ֔וּ H3615 until they have ended אֵ֥ת H853 כָּל־ H3605 all הַקָּצִ֖יר H7105 all my harvest אֲשֶׁר־ H834 after לִֽי׃ H0

²² וַתֹּ֥אמֶר H559 said נָעֳמִ֖י H5281 And Naomi אֶל־ H413 to ר֣וּת H7327 unto Ruth כַּלָּתָ֑הּ H3618 her daughter in law ט֣וֹב H2896 good בִּתִּ֗י H1323 my daughter כִּ֤י H3588 that תֵֽצְאִי֙ H3318 that thou go out עִם־ H5973 with נַ֣עֲרוֹתָ֔יו H5291 with his maidens וְלֹ֥א H3808 so יִפְגְּעוּ־ H6293 that they meet בָ֖ךְ H0 בְּשָׂדֶ֥ה H7704 field אַחֵֽר׃ H312 thee not in any other

²³ וַתִּדְבַּ֞ק H1692 So she kept fast בְּנַעֲר֥וֹת H5291 by the maidens בֹּ֙עַז֙ H1162 of Boaz לְלַקֵּ֔ט H3950 to glean עַד־ H5704 until כְּל֥וֹת H3615 unto the end קְצִֽיר־ H7105 harvest הַשְּׂעֹרִ֖ים H8184 of barley וּקְצִ֣יר H7105 harvest הַֽחִטִּ֑ים H2406 and of wheat וַתֵּ֖שֶׁב H3427 and dwelt אֶת־ H854 with חֲמוֹתָֽהּ׃ H2545 with her mother in law

¹ וַתֹּ֥אמֶר H559 said לָ֖הּ H0 נָעֳמִ֣י H5281 Then Naomi חֲמוֹתָ֑הּ H2545 her mother in law בִּתִּ֞י H1323 unto her My daughter הֲלֹ֧א H3808 not אֲבַקֶּשׁ־ H1245 shall I not seek לָ֛ךְ H0 מָנ֖וֹחַ H4494 rest אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 that it יִֽיטַב־ H3190 for thee that it may be well לָֽךְ׃ H0

² וְעַתָּ֗ה H6258 Now הֲלֹ֥א H3808 is not בֹ֙עַז֙ H1162 And now not Boaz מֹֽדַעְתָּ֔נוּ H4130 of our kindred אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 whose הָיִ֖ית H1961 become אֶת־ H854 for נַעֲרוֹתָ֑יו H5291 with whose maidens הִנֵּה־ H2009 Behold ה֗וּא H1931 he זֹרֶ֛ה H2219 thou wast? Behold he winnoweth אֶת־ H853 גֹּ֥רֶן H1637 in the threshingfloor הַשְּׂעֹרִ֖ים H8184 barley הַלָּֽיְלָה׃ H3915 to night

³ וְרָחַ֣צְתְּ ׀ H7364 Wash וָסַ֗כְתְּ H5480 thyself therefore and anoint וְשַׂ֧מְתְּ H7760 thee and put <שִׂמְלֹתֵךְ כ> (שִׂמְלֹתַ֛יִךְ H8071 apparel ק) עָלַ֖יִךְ H5921 and <וְיָרַדְתִּי כ> (וְיָרַ֣דְתְּ H3381 descend ק) הַגֹּ֑רֶן H1637 to the floor אַל־ H408 not תִּוָּדְעִ֣י H3045 make not thyself known לָאִ֔ישׁ H376 unto the man עַ֥ד H5704 until כַּלֹּת֖וֹ H3615 until he shall have done לֶאֱכֹ֥ל H398 eating וְלִשְׁתּֽוֹת׃ H8354 and drinking

⁴ וִיהִ֣י H1961 become בְשָׁכְב֗וֹ H7901 And it shall be when he lieth down וְיָדַ֙עַתְּ֙ H3045 that thou shalt mark אֶת־ H853 הַמָּקוֹם֙ H4725 the place אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 what יִשְׁכַּב־ H7901 where he shall lie שָׁ֔ם H8033 and you וּבָ֛את H935 and thou shalt go in וְגִלִּ֥ית H1540 and uncover מַרְגְּלֹתָ֖יו H4772 his feet <וְשָׁכָבְתִּי כ> (וְשָׁכָ֑בְתְּ H7901 down ק) וְהוּא֙ H1931 he יַגִּ֣יד H5046 and he will tell לָ֔ךְ H0 אֵ֖ת H853 אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 what תַּעַשִֽׂין׃ H6213 thee what thou shalt do

⁵ וַתֹּ֖אמֶר H559 And she said אֵלֶ֑יהָ H413 to her כֹּ֛ל H3605 All אֲשֶׁר־ H834 you תֹּאמְרִ֥י H559 unto her All that thou sayest (אֵלַ֖י H413 about ק) אֶֽעֱשֶֽׂה׃ H6213 unto me I will do

⁶ וַתֵּ֖רֶד H3381 And she went down הַגֹּ֑רֶן H1637 unto the floor וַתַּ֕עַשׂ H6213 and did כְּכֹ֥ל H3605 to all אֲשֶׁר־ H834 after צִוַּ֖תָּה H6680 bade חֲמוֹתָֽהּ׃ H2545 according to all that her mother in law

⁷ וַיֹּ֨אכַל H398 had eaten בֹּ֤עַז H1162 And when Boaz וַיֵּשְׁתְּ֙ H8354 and drunk וַיִּיטַ֣ב H3190 was merry לִבּ֔וֹ H3820 and his heart וַיָּבֹ֕א H935 he went לִשְׁכַּ֖ב H7901 to lie down בִּקְצֵ֣ה H7097 at the end הָעֲרֵמָ֑ה H6194 of the heap of corn וַתָּבֹ֣א H935 and she came בַלָּ֔ט H3909 softly וַתְּגַ֥ל H1540 and uncovered מַרְגְּלֹתָ֖יו H4772 his feet וַתִּשְׁכָּֽב׃ H7901 and laid her down

⁸ וַיְהִי֙ H1961 happened בַּחֲצִ֣י H2677 the middle הַלַּ֔יְלָה H3915 of the night וַיֶּחֱרַ֥ד H2729 was afraid הָאִ֖ישׁ H376 that the man וַיִּלָּפֵ֑ת H3943 and turned וְהִנֵּ֣ה H2009 and behold אִשָּׁ֔ה H802 himself and behold a woman שֹׁכֶ֖בֶת H7901 lay מַרְגְּלֹתָֽיו׃ H4772 at his feet

⁹ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר H559 And he said מִי־ H4310 Who אָ֑תּ H859 and she וַתֹּ֗אמֶר H559 Who thou? And she answered אָנֹכִי֙ H595 I ר֣וּת H7327 I Ruth אֲמָתֶ֔ךָ H519 thine handmaid וּפָרַשְׂתָּ֤ H6566 spread כְנָפֶ֙ךָ֙ H3671 therefore thy skirt עַל־ H5921 over אֲמָ֣תְךָ֔ H519 over thine handmaid כִּ֥י H3588 are a גֹאֵ֖ל H1350 for thou a near kinsman אָֽתָּה׃ H859 he

¹⁰ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר H559 And he said בְּרוּכָ֨ה H1288 Blessed אַ֤תְּ H859 you לַֽיהוָה֙ H3069 God בִּתִּ֔י H1323 my daughter הֵיטַ֛בְתְּ H3190 thou hast shewed חַסְדֵּ֥ךְ H2617 more kindness הָאַחֲר֖וֹן H314 in the latter end מִן־ H4480 than הָרִאשׁ֑וֹן H7223 than at the beginning לְבִלְתִּי־ H1115 not לֶ֗כֶת H1980 going אַחֲרֵי֙ H310 after הַבַּ֣חוּרִ֔ים H970 young men אִם־ H518 whether דַּ֖ל H1800 whether poor וְאִם־ H518 or עָשִֽׁיר׃ H6223 or rich

¹¹ וְעַתָּ֗ה H6258 Now בִּתִּי֙ H1323 And now my daughter אַל־ H408 not תִּ֣ירְאִ֔י H3372 fear כֹּ֥ל H3605 for all אֲשֶׁר־ H834 you תֹּאמְרִ֖י H559 to thee all that thou requirest אֶֽעֱשֶׂה־ H6213 not I will do לָּ֑ךְ H0 כִּ֤י H3588 for יוֹדֵ֙עַ֙ H3045 doth know כָּל־ H3605 for all שַׁ֣עַר H8179 for all the city עַמִּ֔י H5971 of my people כִּ֛י H3588 for אֵ֥שֶׁת H802 woman חַ֖יִל H2428 that thou a virtuous אָֽתְּ׃ H859 you

¹² וְעַתָּה֙ H6258 Now כִּ֣י H3588 for אָמְנָ֔ם H551 And now it is true כִּ֥י H3588 for <אִם H518 lo כ> גֹאֵ֖ל H1350 that I near kinsman אָנֹ֑כִי H595 I וְגַ֛ם H1571 however יֵ֥שׁ H3426 howbeit there is גֹּאֵ֖ל H1350 a kinsman קָר֥וֹב H7138 nearer מִמֶּֽנִּי׃ H4480 than

¹³ לִ֣ינִי ׀ H3885 Tarry הַלַּ֗יְלָה H3915 this night וְהָיָ֤ה H1961 comes בַבֹּ֙קֶר֙ H1242 and it shall be in the morning אִם־ H518 if יִגְאָלֵ֥ךְ H1350 if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman טוֹב֙ H2896 well יִגְאָ֔ל H1350 let him do the kinsman's part וְאִם־ H518 if לֹ֨א H3808 does not יַחְפֹּ֧ץ H2654 but if he will לְגָֽאֳלֵ֛ךְ H1350 not do the part of a kinsman וּגְאַלְתִּ֥יךְ H1350 to thee then will I do the part of a kinsman אָנֹ֖כִי H595 I חַי־ H2416 liveth יְהוָ֑ה H3068 to thee the LORD שִׁכְבִ֖י H7901 lie down עַד־ H5704 until הַבֹּֽקֶר׃ H1242 until the morning

¹⁴ וַתִּשְׁכַּ֤ב H7901 And she lay <מַרְגְּלָתַו כ> (מַרְגְּלֹותָיו֙ H4772 feet ק) עַד־ H5704 until הַבֹּ֔קֶר H1242 until the morning וַתָּ֕קָם H6965 and she rose up <בִּטְרֹום כ> (בְּטֶ֛רֶם H2958 before ק) יַכִּ֥יר H5234 could know אִ֖ישׁ H376 one אֶת־ H853 רֵעֵ֑הוּ H7453 another וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ H559 And he said אַל־ H408 nay יִוָּדַ֔ע H3045 Let it not be known כִּי־ H3588 for בָ֥אָה H935 came הָאִשָּׁ֖ה H802 that a woman הַגֹּֽרֶן׃ H1637 into the floor

¹⁵ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר H559 Also he said הָ֠בִי H3051 Bring הַמִּטְפַּ֧חַת H4304 the vail אֲשֶׁר־ H834 that עָלַ֛יִךְ H5921 is on וְאֶֽחֳזִי־ H270 that upon thee and hold בָ֖הּ H0 וַתֹּ֣אחֶז H270 it And when she held בָּ֑הּ H0 וַיָּ֤מָד H4058 it he measured שֵׁשׁ־ H8337 six שְׂעֹרִים֙ H8184 of barley וַיָּ֣שֶׁת H7896 and laid עָלֶ֔יהָ H5921 and וַיָּבֹ֖א H935 on her and she went הָעִֽיר׃ H5892 into the city

¹⁶ וַתָּבוֹא֙ H935 And when she came אֶל־ H413 to her חֲמוֹתָ֔הּ H2545 to her mother in law וַתֹּ֖אמֶר H559 she said מִי־ H4310 How אַ֣תְּ H859 you בִּתִּ֑י H1323 first וַתַּ֨גֶּד־ H5046 bewray לָ֔הּ H0 אֵ֛ת H853 כָּל־ H3605 her all אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 after עָֽשָׂה־ H6213 had done לָ֖הּ H0 הָאִֽישׁ׃ H376 her all that the man

¹⁷ וַתֹּ֕אמֶר H559 And she said שֵׁשׁ־ H8337 These six הַשְּׂעֹרִ֥ים H8184 of barley הָאֵ֖לֶּה H428 These נָ֣תַן H5414 gave לִ֑י H0 כִּ֚י H3588 for אָמַ֣ר H559 he me for he said (אֵלַ֔י H413 about ק) אַל־ H413 about תָּב֥וֹאִי H935 to me Go רֵיקָ֖ם H7387 not empty אֶל־ H408 nay חֲמוֹתֵֽךְ׃ H2545 unto thy mother in law

¹⁸ וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ H559 Then said שְׁבִ֣י H3427 she Sit still בִתִּ֔י H1323 my daughter עַ֚ד H5704 against אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 you תֵּֽדְעִ֔ין H3045 until thou know אֵ֖יךְ H349 how יִפֹּ֣ל H5307 will fall דָּבָ֑ר H1697 how the matter כִּ֣י H3588 for לֹ֤א H3808 will not יִשְׁקֹט֙ H8252 will not be in rest הָאִ֔ישׁ H376 for the man כִּֽי־ H3588 for אִם־ H518 until כִּלָּ֥ה H3615 he have finished הַדָּבָ֖ר H1697 the thing הַיּֽוֹם׃ H3117 this day

¹ וּבֹ֨עַז H1162 Boaz עָלָ֣ה H5927 up הַשַּׁעַר֮ H8179 to the gate וַיֵּ֣שֶׁב H3427 and sat him down שָׁם֒ H8033 there וְהִנֵּ֨ה H2009 and behold הַגֹּאֵ֤ל H1350 there and behold the kinsman עֹבֵר֙ H5674 came אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 of whom דִּבֶּר־ H1696 spake בֹּ֔עַז H1162 of whom Boaz וַיֹּ֛אמֶר H559 by unto whom he said ס֥וּרָה H5493 turn aside שְׁבָה־ H3427 sit down פֹּ֖ה H6311 here פְּלֹנִ֣י H6423 such אַלְמֹנִ֑י H492 a one וַיָּ֖סַר H5493 here And he turned aside וַיֵּשֵֽׁב׃ H3427 and sat down

² וַיִּקַּ֞ח H3947 And he took עֲשָׂרָ֧ה H6235 ten אֲנָשִׁ֛ים H582 men מִזִּקְנֵ֥י H2205 of the elders הָעִ֖יר H5892 of the city וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 and said שְׁבוּ־ H3427 Sit ye down פֹ֑ה H6311 here וַיֵּשֵֽׁבוּ׃ H3427 here And they sat down

³ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ H559 And he said לַגֹּאֵ֔ל H1350 unto the kinsman חֶלְקַת֙ H2513 a parcel הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה H7704 out of the country אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 which לְאָחִ֖ינוּ H251 which our brother לֶאֱלִימֶ֑לֶךְ H458 Elimelech's מָכְרָ֣ה H4376 selleth נָעֳמִ֔י H5281 Naomi הַשָּׁ֖בָה H7725 that is come again מִשְּׂדֵ֥ה H7704 of land מוֹאָֽב׃ H4124 of Moab

⁴ וַאֲנִ֨י H589 I אָמַ֜רְתִּי H559 And I thought אֶגְלֶ֧ה H1540 advertise אָזְנְךָ֣ H241 you לֵאמֹ֗ר H559 thee saying קְ֠נֵה H7069 Buy נֶ֥גֶד H5048 before הַֽיֹּשְׁבִים֮ H3427 before the inhabitants וְנֶ֣גֶד H5048 and before זִקְנֵ֣י H2205 and before the elders עַמִּי֒ H5971 of my people אִם־ H518 If תִּגְאַל֙ H1350 If thou wilt redeem גְּאָ֔ל H1350 redeem וְאִם־ H518 if לֹ֨א H3808 not יִגְאַ֜ל H1350 but if thou wilt not redeem הַגִּ֣ידָה H5046 tell לִּ֗י H0 <וְאֵדַע כ> (וְאֵֽדְעָה֙ H3045 acknowledge ק) כִּ֣י H3588 for אֵ֤ין H369 there זוּלָֽתְךָ֙ H2108 beside לִגְא֔וֹל H1350 for none to redeem וְאָנֹכִ֖י H595 I אַחֲרֶ֑יךָ H310 thee and I after וַיֹּ֖אמֶר H559 thee And he said אָנֹכִ֥י H595 I אֶגְאָֽל׃ H1350 I will redeem

⁵ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 Then said בֹּ֔עַז H1162 Boaz בְּיוֹם־ H3117 What day קְנוֹתְךָ֥ H7069 thou buyest הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה H7704 the field מִיַּ֣ד H3027 of the hand נָעֳמִ֑י H5281 of Naomi וּ֠מֵאֵת H854 for ר֣וּת H7327 also of Ruth הַמּוֹאֲבִיָּ֤ה H4125 the Moabitess אֵֽשֶׁת־ H802 the wife הַמֵּת֙ H4191 of the dead <קָנִיתִי כ> (קָנִ֔יתָה H7069 buy ק) לְהָקִ֥ים H6965 to raise up שֵׁם־ H8034 the name הַמֵּ֖ת H4191 of the dead עַל־ H5921 on נַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃ H5159 upon his inheritance

⁶ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 said הַגֹּאֵ֗ל H1350 And the kinsman לֹ֤א H3808 not אוּכַל֙ H3201 I cannot <לִגְאֹול־ כ> (לִגְאָל־ H1350 Redeem ק) H1350 redeem פֶּן־ H6435 because אַשְׁחִ֖ית H7843 for myself lest I mar אֶת־ H853 נַחֲלָתִ֑י H5159 mine own inheritance גְּאַל־ H1350 redeem לְךָ֤ H0 אַתָּה֙ H859 you אֶת־ H853 גְּאֻלָּתִ֔י H1353 thou my right כִּ֥י H3588 for לֹא־ H3808 not אוּכַ֖ל H3201 to thyself for I cannot לִגְאֹֽל׃ H1350 redeem

⁷ וְזֹאת֩ H2063 in לְפָנִ֨ים H6440 Now this in former time בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל H3478 in Israel עַל־ H5921 concerning הַגְּאוּלָּ֤ה H1353 concerning redeeming וְעַל־ H5921 concerning הַתְּמוּרָה֙ H8545 and concerning changing לְקַיֵּ֣ם H6965 for to confirm כָּל־ H3605 any דָּבָ֔ר H1697 all things שָׁלַ֥ף H8025 plucked off אִ֛ישׁ H376 a man נַעֲל֖וֹ H5275 his shoe וְנָתַ֣ן H5414 and gave לְרֵעֵ֑הוּ H7453 to his neighbour וְזֹ֥את H2063 was the הַתְּעוּדָ֖ה H8584 and this a testimony בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ H3478 in Israel

⁸ וַיֹּ֧אמֶר H559 said הַגֹּאֵ֛ל H1350 Therefore the kinsman לְבֹ֖עַז H1162 unto Boaz קְנֵה־ H7069 Buy לָ֑ךְ H0 וַיִּשְׁלֹ֖ף H8025 for thee So he drew off נַעֲלֽוֹ׃ H5275 his shoe

⁹ וַיֹּאמֶר֩ H559 said בֹּ֨עַז H1162 And Boaz לַזְּקֵנִ֜ים H2205 unto the elders וְכָל־ H3605 and all הָעָ֗ם H5971 and all the people עֵדִ֤ים H5707 Ye witnesses אַתֶּם֙ H859 you הַיּ֔וֹם H3117 this day כִּ֤י H3588 for קָנִ֙יתִי֙ H7069 that I have bought אֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 all אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 that לֶֽאֱלִימֶ֔לֶךְ H458 all that Elimelech's וְאֵ֛ת H853 כָּל־ H3605 and all אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 that לְכִלְי֖וֹן H3630 and all that Chilion's וּמַחְל֑וֹן H4248 and Mahlon's מִיַּ֖ד H3027 of the hand נָעֳמִֽי׃ H5281 of Naomi

¹⁰ וְגַ֣ם H1571 Moreover אֶת־ H853 ר֣וּת H7327 Moreover Ruth הַמֹּאֲבִיָּה֩ H4125 the Moabitess אֵ֨שֶׁת H802 the wife מַחְל֜וֹן H4248 of Mahlon קָנִ֧יתִי H7069 have I purchased לִ֣י H0 לְאִשָּׁ֗ה H802 to be my wife לְהָקִ֤ים H6965 to raise up שֵׁם־ H8034 the name הַמֵּת֙ H4191 of the dead עַל־ H5921 on נַ֣חֲלָת֔וֹ H5159 upon his inheritance וְלֹא־ H3808 not יִכָּרֵ֧ת H3772 be not cut off שֵׁם־ H8034 that the name הַמֵּ֛ת H4191 of the dead מֵעִ֥ם H5973 from among אֶחָ֖יו H251 his brethren וּמִשַּׁ֣עַר H8179 and from the gate מְקוֹמ֑וֹ H4725 of his place עֵדִ֥ים H5707 ye witnesses אַתֶּ֖ם H859 you הַיּֽוֹם׃ H3117 this day

¹¹ וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ H559 said כָּל־ H3605 All הָעָ֧ם H5971 And all the people אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who בַּשַּׁ֛עַר H8179 that in the gate וְהַזְּקֵנִ֖ים H2205 and the elders עֵדִ֑ים H5707 witnesses יִתֵּן֩ H5414 make יְהוָ֨ה H3068 The LORD אֶֽת־ H853 הָאִשָּׁ֜ה H802 the woman הַבָּאָ֣ה H935 that is come אֶל־ H413 into בֵּיתֶ֗ךָ H1004 into thine house כְּרָחֵ֤ל ׀ H7354 like Rachel וּכְלֵאָה֙ H3812 and like Leah אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 of whom בָּנ֤וּ H1129 did build שְׁתֵּיהֶם֙ H8147 which two אֶת־ H853 בֵּ֣ית H1004 the house יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 of Israel וַעֲשֵׂה־ H6213 and do חַ֣יִל H2428 thou worthily בְּאֶפְרָ֔תָה H672 in Ephratah וּקְרָא־ H7121 and become שֵׁ֖ם H8034 base בְּבֵ֥ית H0 לָֽחֶם׃ H1035 in Bethlehem

¹² וִיהִ֤י H1961 become בֵֽיתְךָ֙ H1004 And let thy house כְּבֵ֣ית H1004 be like the house פֶּ֔רֶץ H6557 of Pharez אֲשֶׁר־ H834 whom יָלְדָ֥ה H3205 bare תָמָ֖ר H8559 whom Tamar לִֽיהוּדָ֑ה H3063 unto Judah מִן־ H4480 through הַזֶּ֗רַע H2233 of the seed אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 which יִתֵּ֤ן H5414 shall give יְהוָה֙ H3068 which the LORD לְךָ֔ H0 מִן־ H4480 through הַֽנַּעֲרָ֖ה H5291 thee of this young woman הַזֹּֽאת׃ H2063 likewise

¹³ וַיִּקַּ֨ח H3947 took בֹּ֤עַז H1162 So Boaz אֶת־ H853 רוּת֙ H7327 Ruth וַתְּהִי־ H1961 became ל֣וֹ H0 לְאִשָּׁ֔ה H802 and she was his wife וַיָּבֹ֖א H935 and when he went in אֵלֶ֑יהָ H413 about וַיִּתֵּ֨ן H5414 gave יְהוָ֥ה H3068 unto her the LORD לָ֛הּ H0 הֵרָי֖וֹן H2032 her conception וַתֵּ֥לֶד H3205 and she bare בֵּֽן׃ H1121 a son

¹⁴ וַתֹּאמַ֤רְנָה H559 said הַנָּשִׁים֙ H802 And the women אֶֽל־ H413 to נָעֳמִ֔י H5281 unto Naomi בָּר֣וּךְ H1288 Blessed יְהוָ֔ה H3068 the LORD אֲ֠שֶׁר H834 who לֹ֣א H3808 has not הִשְׁבִּ֥ית H7673 which hath not left לָ֛ךְ H0 גֹּאֵ֖ל H1350 without a kinsman הַיּ֑וֹם H3117 thee this day וְיִקָּרֵ֥א H7121 may be famous שְׁמ֖וֹ H8034 that his name בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ H3478 in Israel

¹⁵ וְהָ֤יָה H1961 become לָךְ֙ H0 לְמֵשִׁ֣יב H7725 And he shall be unto thee a restorer נֶ֔פֶשׁ H5315 of life וּלְכַלְכֵּ֖ל H3557 and a nourisher אֶת־ H853 שֵׂיבָתֵ֑ךְ H7872 of thine old age כִּ֣י H3588 for כַלָּתֵ֤ךְ H3618 for thy daughter in law אֲ‍ֽשֶׁר־ H834 who אֲהֵבַ֙תֶךְ֙ H157 which loveth יְלָדַ֔תּוּ H3205 hath born אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who הִיא֙ H1931 and is ט֣וֹבָה H2896 thee which is better לָ֔ךְ H0 מִשִּׁבְעָ֖ה H7651 to thee than seven בָּנִֽים׃ H1121 sons

¹⁶ וַתִּקַּ֨ח H3947 took נָעֳמִ֤י H5281 And Naomi אֶת־ H853 הַיֶּ֙לֶד֙ H3206 the child וַתְּשִׁתֵ֣הוּ H7896 and laid בְחֵיקָ֔הּ H2436 it in her bosom וַתְּהִי־ H1961 and became ל֖וֹ H0 לְאֹמֶֽנֶת׃ H539 and became nurse

¹⁷ וַתִּקְרֶאנָה֩ H7121 gave ל֨וֹ H0 הַשְּׁכֵנ֥וֹת H7934 And the women her neighbours שֵׁם֙ H8034 it a name לֵאמֹ֔ר H559 saying יֻלַּד־ H3205 born בֵּ֖ן H1121 There is a son לְנָעֳמִ֑י H5281 to Naomi וַתִּקְרֶ֤אנָֽה H7121 and they called שְׁמוֹ֙ H8034 his name עוֹבֵ֔ד H5744 Obed ה֥וּא H1931 He אֲבִי־ H1 he the father יִשַׁ֖י H3448 of Jesse אֲבִ֥י H1 the father דָוִֽד׃ H1732 of David פ

¹⁸ וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ H428 now these תּוֹלְד֣וֹת H8435 Now these the generations פָּ֔רֶץ H6557 of Pharez פֶּ֖רֶץ H6557 Pharez הוֹלִ֥יד H3205 begat אֶת־ H853 חֶצְרֽוֹן׃ H2696 Hezron

¹⁹ וְחֶצְרוֹן֙ H2696 And Hezron הוֹלִ֣יד H3205 begat אֶת־ H853 רָ֔ם H7410 Ram וְרָ֖ם H7410 and Ram הוֹלִ֥יד H3205 begat אֶת־ H853 עַמִּֽינָדָֽב׃ H5992 Amminadab

²⁰ וְעַמִּֽינָדָב֙ H5992 And Amminadab הוֹלִ֣יד H3205 begat אֶת־ H853 נַחְשׁ֔וֹן H5177 Nahshon וְנַחְשׁ֖וֹן H5177 and Nahshon הוֹלִ֥יד H3205 begat אֶת־ H853 שַׂלְמָֽה׃ H8009 Salmon

²¹ וְשַׂלְמוֹן֙ H8012 And Salmon הוֹלִ֣יד H3205 begat אֶת־ H853 בֹּ֔עַז H1162 Boaz וּבֹ֖עַז H1162 and Boaz הוֹלִ֥יד H3205 begat אֶת־ H853 עוֹבֵֽד׃ H5744 Obed

²² וְעֹבֵד֙ H5744 And Obed הוֹלִ֣יד H3205 begat אֶת־ H853 יִשָׁ֔י H3448 Jesse וְיִשַׁ֖י H3448 and Jesse הוֹלִ֥יד H3205 begat אֶת־ H853 דָּוִֽד׃ H1732 David
