¹ וַיְהִ֗י H1961 came אַחֲרֵי֙ H310 Now after מ֣וֹת H4194 the death יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ H3091 of Joshua וַֽיִּשְׁאֲלוּ֙ H7592 asked בְּנֵ֣י H1121 it came to pass that the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 of Israel בַּיהוָ֖ה H3068 the LORD לֵאמֹ֑ר H559 saying מִ֣י H4310 Who יַעֲלֶה־ H5927 Who shall go up לָּ֧נוּ H0 אֶל־ H413 against הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֛י H3669 for us against the Canaanites בַּתְּחִלָּ֖ה H8462 first לְהִלָּ֥חֶם H3898 to fight בּֽוֹ׃ H0

² וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 said יְהוָ֖ה H3068 And the LORD יְהוּדָ֣ה H3063 Judah יַעֲלֶ֑ה H5927 shall go up הִנֵּ֛ה H2009 behold נָתַ֥תִּי H5414 behold I have delivered אֶת־ H853 הָאָ֖רֶץ H776 the land בְּיָדֽוֹ׃ H3027 into his hand

³ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 said יְהוּדָה֩ H3063 And Judah לְשִׁמְע֨וֹן H8095 unto Simeon אָחִ֜יו H251 his brother עֲלֵ֧ה H5927 Come up אִתִּ֣י H854 into בְגוֹרָלִ֗י H1486 with me into my lot וְנִֽלָּחֲמָה֙ H3898 that we may fight בַּֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔י H3669 against the Canaanites וְהָלַכְתִּ֧י H1980 and I likewise will go גַם־ H1571 turn אֲנִ֛י H589 I אִתְּךָ֖ H854 for בְּגוֹרָלֶ֑ךָ H1486 with thee into thy lot וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ H1980 went אִתּ֖וֹ H854 So שִׁמְעֽוֹן׃ H8095 So Simeon

⁴ וַיַּ֣עַל H5927 went up יְהוּדָ֔ה H3063 And Judah וַיִּתֵּ֧ן H5414 delivered יְהוָ֛ה H3068 and the LORD אֶת־ H853 הַכְּנַעֲנִ֥י H3669 the Canaanites וְהַפְּרִזִּ֖י H6522 and the Perizzites בְּיָדָ֑ם H3027 into their hand וַיַּכּ֣וּם H5221 and they slew בְּבֶ֔זֶק H966 of them in Bezek עֲשֶׂ֥רֶת H6235 ten אֲלָפִ֖ים H505 thousand אִֽישׁ׃ H376 men

⁵ וַֽ֠יִּמְצְאוּ H4672 And they found אֶת־ H853 אֲדֹנִ֥י H0 בֶ֙זֶק֙ H137 Adonibezek בְּבֶ֔זֶק H966 in Bezek וַיִּֽלָּחֲמ֖וּ H3898 and they fought בּ֑וֹ H0 וַיַּכּ֕וּ H5221 against him and they slew אֶת־ H853 הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י H3669 the Canaanites וְאֶת־ H853 הַפְּרִזִּֽי׃ H6522 and the Perizzites

⁶ וַיָּ֙נָס֙ H5127 fled אֲדֹ֣נִי H0 בֶ֔זֶק H137 But Adonibezek וַֽיִּרְדְּפ֖וּ H7291 and they pursued אַחֲרָ֑יו H310 after וַיֹּאחֲז֣וּ H270 him and caught אֹת֔וֹ H853 וַֽיְקַצְּצ֔וּ H7112 him and cut off אֶת־ H853 בְּהֹנ֥וֹת H931 his thumbs יָדָ֖יו H3027 and his great וְרַגְלָֽיו׃ H7272 and his great toes

⁷ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 said אֲדֹֽנִי־ H0 בֶ֗זֶק H137 And Adonibezek שִׁבְעִ֣ים ׀ H7657 Threescore and ten מְלָכִ֡ים H4428 kings בְּֽהֹנוֹת֩ H931 their thumbs יְדֵיהֶ֨ם H3027 and their great וְרַגְלֵיהֶ֜ם H7272 and their great toes מְקֻצָּצִ֗ים H7112 cut off הָי֤וּ H1961 become מְלַקְּטִים֙ H3950 gathered תַּ֣חַת H8478 up under שֻׁלְחָנִ֔י H7979 under my table כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 I עָשִׂ֔יתִי H6213 as I have done כֵּ֥ן H3651 so שִׁלַּם־ H7999 hath requited לִ֖י H0 אֱלֹהִ֑ים H430 so God וַיְבִיאֻ֥הוּ H935 me And they brought יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם H3389 him to Jerusalem וַיָּ֥מָת H4191 and there he died שָֽׁם׃ H8033 there פ

⁸ וַיִּלָּחֲמ֤וּ H3898 had fought בְנֵֽי־ H1121 Now the children יְהוּדָה֙ H3063 of Judah בִּיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם H3389 against Jerusalem וַיִּלְכְּד֣וּ H3920 and had taken אוֹתָ֔הּ H853 וַיַּכּ֖וּהָ H5221 it and smitten לְפִי־ H6310 it with the edge חָ֑רֶב H2719 of the sword וְאֶת־ H853 הָעִ֖יר H5892 the city שִׁלְּח֥וּ H7971 and set בָאֵֽשׁ׃ H784 on fire

⁹ וְאַחַ֗ר H310 And afterward יָֽרְדוּ֙ H3381 went down בְּנֵ֣י H1121 the children יְהוּדָ֔ה H3063 of Judah לְהִלָּחֵ֖ם H3898 to fight בַּֽכְּנַעֲנִ֑י H3669 against the Canaanites יוֹשֵׁ֣ב H3427 that dwelt הָהָ֔ר H2022 in the mountain וְהַנֶּ֖גֶב H5045 and in the south וְהַשְּׁפֵלָֽה׃ H8219 and in the valley

¹⁰ וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ H1980 went יְהוּדָ֗ה H3063 And Judah אֶל־ H413 against הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ H3669 against the Canaanites הַיּוֹשֵׁ֣ב H3427 that dwelt בְּחֶבְר֔וֹן H2275 in Hebron וְשֵׁם־ H8034 (now the name חֶבְר֥וֹן H2275 of Hebron לְפָנִ֖ים H6440 before קִרְיַ֣ת H0 אַרְבַּ֑ע H7153 Kirjath-arba וַיַּכּ֛וּ H5221 beat אֶת־ H853 שֵׁשַׁ֥י H8344 Sheshai וְאֶת־ H853 אֲחִימַ֖ן H289 and Ahiman וְאֶת־ H853 תַּלְמָֽי׃ H8526 and Talmai

¹¹ וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ H1980 went מִשָּׁ֔ם H8033 there אֶל־ H413 against יוֹשְׁבֵ֖י H3427 against the inhabitants דְּבִ֑יר H1688 of Debir וְשֵׁם־ H8034 and the name דְּבִ֥יר H1688 of Debir לְפָנִ֖ים H6440 before קִרְיַת־ H0 סֵֽפֶר׃ H7158 Kirjathsepher

¹² וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 said כָּלֵ֔ב H3612 And Caleb אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who יַכֶּ֥ה H5221 He that smiteth אֶת־ H853 קִרְיַת־ H0 סֵ֖פֶר H7158 Kirjathsepher וּלְכָדָ֑הּ H3920 and taketh וְנָתַ֥תִּי H5414 it to him will I give ל֛וֹ H0 אֶת־ H853 עַכְסָ֥ה H5915 Achsah בִתִּ֖י H1323 my daughter לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ H802 to wife

¹³ וַֽיִּלְכְּדָהּ֙ H3920 took עָתְנִיאֵ֣ל H6274 And Othniel בֶּן־ H1121 the son קְנַ֔ז H7073 of Kenaz אֲחִ֥י H251 brother כָלֵ֖ב H3612 Caleb's הַקָּטֹ֣ן H6996 younger מִמֶּ֑נּוּ H4480 at וַיִּתֶּן־ H5414 it and he gave ל֛וֹ H0 אֶת־ H853 עַכְסָ֥ה H5915 him Achsah בִתּ֖וֹ H1323 his daughter לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ H802 to wife

¹⁴ וַיְהִ֣י H1961 came בְּבוֹאָ֗הּ H935 And it came to pass when she came וַתְּסִיתֵ֙הוּ֙ H5496 that she moved לִשְׁא֤וֹל H7592 him to ask מֵֽאֵת־ H853 אָבִ֙יהָ֙ H1 of her father הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה H7704 a field וַתִּצְנַ֖ח H6795 and she lighted מֵעַ֣ל H5921 from הַחֲמ֑וֹר H2543 from off ass וַיֹּֽאמֶר־ H559 said לָ֥הּ H0 כָּלֵ֖ב H3612 and Caleb מַה־ H4100 to her What לָּֽךְ׃ H0

¹⁵ וַתֹּ֨אמֶר H559 And she said ל֜וֹ H0 הָֽבָה־ H3051 unto him Give לִּ֣י H0 בְרָכָ֗ה H1293 me a blessing כִּ֣י H3588 since אֶ֤רֶץ H776 land הַנֶּ֙גֶב֙ H5045 me a south נְתַתָּ֔נִי H5414 for thou hast given וְנָתַתָּ֥ה H5414 give לִ֖י H0 גֻּלֹּ֣ת H1543 me also springs מָ֑יִם H4325 of water וַיִּתֶּן־ H5414 gave לָ֣הּ H0 כָּלֵ֗ב H3612 And Caleb אֵ֚ת H853 גֻּלֹּ֣ת H1543 springs עִלִּ֔ית H5942 her the upper וְאֵ֖ת H853 גֻּלֹּ֥ת H1543 springs תַּחְתִּֽית׃ H8482 and the nether פ

¹⁶ וּבְנֵ֣י H1121 And the children קֵינִי֩ H7017 of the Kenite חֹתֵ֨ן H2859 father in law מֹשֶׁ֜ה H4872 Moses' עָל֨וּ H5927 went up מֵעִ֤יר H5892 out of the city הַתְּמָרִים֙ H8558 of palms אֶת־ H854 among בְּנֵ֣י H1121 with the children יְהוּדָ֔ה H3063 of Judah מִדְבַּ֣ר H4057 into the wilderness יְהוּדָ֔ה H3063 of Judah אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 which בְּנֶ֣גֶב H5045 which in the south עֲרָ֑ד H6166 of Arad וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ H1980 went וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב H3427 and dwelt אֶת־ H854 with הָעָֽם׃ H5971 the people

¹⁷ וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ H1980 went יְהוּדָה֙ H3063 And Judah אֶת־ H854 with שִׁמְע֣וֹן H8095 with Simeon אָחִ֔יו H251 his brother וַיַּכּ֕וּ H5221 and they slew אֶת־ H853 הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י H3669 the Canaanites יוֹשֵׁ֣ב H3427 that inhabited צְפַ֑ת H6857 Zephath וַיַּחֲרִ֣ימוּ H2763 and utterly destroyed אוֹתָ֔הּ H853 וַיִּקְרָ֥א H7121 was called אֶת־ H853 שֵׁם־ H8034 it And the name הָעִ֖יר H5892 of the city חָרְמָֽה׃ H2767 Hormah

¹⁸ וַיִּלְכֹּ֤ד H3920 took יְהוּדָה֙ H3063 Also Judah אֶת־ H853 עַזָּ֣ה H5804 Gaza וְאֶת־ H853 גְּבוּלָ֔הּ H1366 with the coast וְאֶֽת־ H853 אַשְׁקְל֖וֹן H831 thereof and Askelon וְאֶת־ H853 גְּבוּלָ֑הּ H1366 with the coast וְאֶת־ H853 עֶקְר֖וֹן H6138 thereof and Ekron וְאֶת־ H853 גְּבוּלָֽהּ׃ H1366 with the coast

¹⁹ וַיְהִ֤י H1961 become יְהוָה֙ H3068 And the LORD אֶת־ H854 was with יְהוּדָ֔ה H3063 was with Judah וַיֹּ֖רֶשׁ H3423 and he drave out אֶת־ H853 הָהָ֑ר H2022 the mountain כִּ֣י H3588 because לֹ֤א H3808 but could not לְהוֹרִישׁ֙ H3423 drive out אֶת־ H853 יֹשְׁבֵ֣י H3427 the inhabitants הָעֵ֔מֶק H6010 of the valley כִּי־ H3588 because רֶ֥כֶב H7393 because they had chariots בַּרְזֶ֖ל H1270 of iron לָהֶֽם׃ H0

²⁰ וַיִּתְּנ֤וּ H5414 And they gave לְכָלֵב֙ H3612 unto Caleb אֶת־ H853 חֶבְר֔וֹן H2275 Hebron כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 after דִּבֶּ֣ר H1696 said מֹשֶׁ֑ה H4872 as Moses וַיּ֣וֹרֶשׁ H3423 and he expelled מִשָּׁ֔ם H8033 there אֶת־ H853 שְׁלֹשָׁ֖ה H7969 thence the three בְּנֵ֥י H1121 sons הָעֲנָֽק׃ H6061 of Anak

²¹ וְאֶת־ H853 הַיְבוּסִי֙ H2983 the Jebusites יֹשֵׁ֣ב H3427 that inhabited יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֔ם H3389 Jerusalem לֹ֥א H3808 did not הוֹרִ֖ישׁוּ H3423 did not drive out בְּנֵ֣י H1121 And the children בִנְיָמִ֑ן H1144 of Benjamin וַיֵּ֨שֶׁב H3427 dwell הַיְבוּסִ֜י H2983 but the Jebusites אֶת־ H854 with בְּנֵ֤י H1121 with the children בִנְיָמִן֙ H1144 of Benjamin בִּיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם H3389 in Jerusalem עַ֖ד H5704 against הַיּ֥וֹם H3117 unto this day הַזֶּֽה׃ H2088 to this ס

²² וַיַּעֲל֧וּ H5927 they also went up בֵית־ H1004 And the house יוֹסֵ֛ף H3130 of Joseph גַּם־ H1571 again הֵ֖ם H1992 like בֵּֽית־ H0 אֵ֑ל H1008 against Bethel וַֽיהוָ֖ה H3068 and the LORD עִמָּֽם׃ H5973 with

²³ וַיָּתִ֥ירוּ H8446 sent to descry בֵית־ H1004 And the house יוֹסֵ֖ף H3130 of Joseph בְּבֵֽית־ H0 אֵ֑ל H1008 Bethel וְשֵׁם־ H8034 (Now the name הָעִ֥יר H5892 of the city לְפָנִ֖ים H6440 before לֽוּז׃ H3870 Luz

²⁴ וַיִּרְאוּ֙ H7200 saw הַשֹּׁ֣מְרִ֔ים H8104 And the spies אִ֖ישׁ H376 a man יוֹצֵ֣א H3318 come forth מִן־ H4480 out הָעִ֑יר H5892 out of the city וַיֹּ֣אמְרוּ H559 and they said ל֗וֹ H0 הַרְאֵ֤נוּ H7200 unto him Shew נָא֙ H4994 Please אֶת־ H853 מְב֣וֹא H3996 us we pray thee the entrance הָעִ֔יר H5892 into the city וְעָשִׂ֥ינוּ H6213 and we will shew עִמְּךָ֖ H5973 you חָֽסֶד׃ H2617 thee mercy

²⁵ וַיַּרְאֵם֙ H7200 And when he shewed אֶת־ H853 מְב֣וֹא H3996 them the entrance הָעִ֔יר H5892 into the city וַיַּכּ֥וּ H5221 they smote אֶת־ H853 הָעִ֖יר H5892 the city לְפִי־ H6310 with the edge חָ֑רֶב H2719 of the sword וְאֶת־ H853 הָאִ֥ישׁ H376 the man וְאֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 and all מִשְׁפַּחְתּ֖וֹ H4940 and all his family שִׁלֵּֽחוּ׃ H7971 but they let go

²⁶ וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ H1980 went הָאִ֔ישׁ H376 And the man אֶ֖רֶץ H776 into the land הַחִתִּ֑ים H2850 of the Hittites וַיִּ֣בֶן H1129 and built עִ֗יר H5892 a city וַיִּקְרָ֤א H7121 and called שְׁמָהּ֙ H8034 the name ל֔וּז H3870 thereof Luz ה֣וּא H1931 which שְׁמָ֔הּ H8034 which the name עַ֖ד H5704 against הַיּ֥וֹם H3117 thereof unto this day הַזֶּֽה׃ H2088 to this פ

²⁷ וְלֹא־ H3808 did not הוֹרִ֣ישׁ H3423 drive out מְנַשֶּׁ֗ה H4519 Neither did Manasseh אֶת־ H853 בֵּית־ H0 שְׁאָ֣ן H1052 Bethshean וְאֶת־ H853 בְּנוֹתֶיהָ֮ H1323 and her towns וְאֶת־ H853 תַּעְנַ֣ךְ H8590 nor Taanach וְאֶת־ H853 בְּנֹתֶיהָ֒ H1323 and her towns וְאֶת־ H853 <יֹשֵׁב כ> (יֹשְׁבֵ֨י H3427 the inhabitants ק) ד֜וֹר H1756 of Dor וְאֶת־ H853 בְּנוֹתֶ֗יהָ H1323 and her towns וְאֶת־ H853 יוֹשְׁבֵ֤י H3427 nor the inhabitants יִבְלְעָם֙ H2991 of Ibleam וְאֶת־ H853 בְּנֹתֶ֔יהָ H1323 and her towns וְאֶת־ H853 יוֹשְׁבֵ֥י H3427 nor the inhabitants מְגִדּ֖וֹ H4023 of Megiddo וְאֶת־ H853 בְּנוֹתֶ֑יהָ H1323 and her towns וַיּ֙וֹאֶל֙ H2974 would הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔י H3669 but the Canaanites לָשֶׁ֖בֶת H3427 nor the inhabitants בָּאָ֥רֶץ H776 in that land הַזֹּֽאת׃ H2063 It

²⁸ וַֽיְהִי֙ H1961 came כִּֽי־ H3588 when חָזַ֣ק H2388 was strong יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 And it came to pass when Israel וַיָּ֥שֶׂם H7760 that they put אֶת־ H853 הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י H3669 the Canaanites לָמַ֑ס H4522 to tribute וְהוֹרֵ֖ישׁ H3423 and did not utterly לֹ֥א H3808 out הוֹרִישֽׁוֹ׃ H3423 drive them out ס

²⁹ וְאֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ H669 Neither did Ephraim לֹ֣א H3808 did not הוֹרִ֔ישׁ H3423 drive out אֶת־ H853 הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י H3669 the Canaanites הַיּוֹשֵׁ֣ב H3427 that dwelt בְּגָ֑זֶר H1507 in Gezer וַיֵּ֧שֶׁב H3427 dwelt הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֛י H3669 but the Canaanites בְּקִרְבּ֖וֹ H7130 among בְּגָֽזֶר׃ H1507 in Gezer פ

³⁰ זְבוּלֻ֗ן H2074 Neither did Zebulun לֹ֤א H3808 did not הוֹרִישׁ֙ H3423 drive out אֶת־ H853 יוֹשְׁבֵ֣י H3427 the inhabitants קִטְר֔וֹן H7003 of Kitron וְאֶת־ H853 יוֹשְׁבֵ֖י H3427 nor the inhabitants נַהֲלֹ֑ל H5096 of Nahalol וַיֵּ֤שֶׁב H3427 dwelt הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ H3669 but the Canaanites בְּקִרְבּ֔וֹ H7130 among וַיִּֽהְי֖וּ H1961 and became לָמַֽס׃ H4522 them and became tributaries ס

³¹ אָשֵׁ֗ר H836 Neither did Asher לֹ֤א H3808 did not הוֹרִישׁ֙ H3423 drive out אֶת־ H853 יֹשְׁבֵ֣י H3427 the inhabitants עַכּ֔וֹ H5910 of Accho וְאֶת־ H853 יוֹשְׁבֵ֖י H3427 nor the inhabitants צִיד֑וֹן H6721 of Zidon וְאֶת־ H853 אַחְלָ֤ב H303 nor of Ahlab וְאֶת־ H853 אַכְזִיב֙ H392 nor of Achzib וְאֶת־ H853 חֶלְבָּ֔ה H2462 nor of Helbah וְאֶת־ H853 אֲפִ֖יק H663 nor of Aphik וְאֶת־ H853 רְחֹֽב׃ H7340 nor of Rehob

³² וַיֵּ֙שֶׁב֙ H3427 dwelt הָאָ֣שֵׁרִ֔י H843 But the Asherites בְּקֶ֥רֶב H7130 among הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י H3669 the Canaanites יֹשְׁבֵ֣י H3427 the inhabitants הָאָ֑רֶץ H776 of the land כִּ֖י H3588 for לֹ֥א H3808 did not הוֹרִישֽׁוֹ׃ H3423 for they did not drive them out ס

³³ נַפְתָּלִ֗י H5321 Neither did Naphtali לֹֽא־ H3808 did not הוֹרִ֞ישׁ H3423 drive out אֶת־ H853 יֹשְׁבֵ֤י H3427 the inhabitants בֵֽית־ H0 שֶׁ֙מֶשׁ֙ H1053 of Bethshemesh וְאֶת־ H853 יֹשְׁבֵ֣י H3427 nor the inhabitants בֵית־ H0 עֲנָ֔ת H1043 of Bethanath וַיֵּ֕שֶׁב H3427 but he dwelt בְּקֶ֥רֶב H7130 among הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י H3669 the Canaanites יֹשְׁבֵ֣י H3427 the inhabitants הָאָ֑רֶץ H776 of the land וְיֹשְׁבֵ֤י H3427 nevertheless the inhabitants בֵֽית־ H0 שֶׁ֙מֶשׁ֙ H1053 of Bethshemesh וּבֵ֣ית H0 עֲנָ֔ת H1043 and of Bethanath הָי֥וּ H1961 became לָהֶ֖ם H0 לָמַֽס׃ H4522 became tributaries ס

³⁴ וַיִּלְחֲצ֧וּ H3905 forced הָאֱמֹרִ֛י H567 And the Amorites אֶת־ H853 בְּנֵי־ H1121 the children דָ֖ן H1835 of Dan הָהָ֑רָה H2022 into the mountain כִּי־ H3588 for לֹ֥א H3808 did not נְתָנ֖וֹ H5414 for they would not suffer לָרֶ֥דֶת H3381 them to come down לָעֵֽמֶק׃ H6010 to the valley

³⁵ וַיּ֤וֹאֶל H2974 would הָֽאֱמֹרִי֙ H567 But the Amorites לָשֶׁ֣בֶת H3427 dwell בְּהַר־ H2022 in mount חֶ֔רֶס H2776 Heres בְּאַיָּל֖וֹן H357 in Aijalon וּבְשַֽׁעַלְבִ֑ים H8169 and in Shaalbim וַתִּכְבַּד֙ H3513 prevailed יַ֣ד H3027 yet the hand בֵּית־ H1004 of the house יוֹסֵ֔ף H3130 of Joseph וַיִּהְי֖וּ H1961 became לָמַֽס׃ H4522 so that they became tributaries

³⁶ וּגְבוּל֙ H1366 And the coast הָאֱמֹרִ֔י H567 of the Amorites מִֽמַּעֲלֵ֖ה H0 עַקְרַבִּ֑ים H4610 to Akrabbim מֵהַסֶּ֖לַע H5553 from the rock וָמָֽעְלָה׃ H4605 and upward פ

¹ וַיַּ֧עַל H5927 came up מַלְאַךְ־ H4397 And an angel יְהוָ֛ה H3068 of the LORD מִן־ H4480 from הַגִּלְגָּ֖ל H1537 from Gilgal אֶל־ H413 to הַבֹּכִ֑ים H1066 to Bochim פ וַיֹּאמֶר֩ H559 and said אַעֲלֶ֨ה H5927 I made you to go up אֶתְכֶ֜ם H853 מִמִּצְרַ֗יִם H4714 out of Egypt וָאָבִ֤יא H935 and have brought אֶתְכֶם֙ H853 אֶל־ H413 into הָאָ֗רֶץ H776 you unto the land אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 which נִשְׁבַּ֙עְתִּי֙ H7650 which I sware לַאֲבֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם H1 unto your fathers וָאֹמַ֕ר H559 and I said לֹֽא־ H3808 not אָפֵ֧ר H6565 break בְּרִיתִ֛י H1285 my covenant אִתְּכֶ֖ם H854 for לְעוֹלָֽם׃ H5769 I will never

² וְאַתֶּ֗ם H859 you לֹֽא־ H3808 no תִכְרְת֤וּ H3772 And ye shall make בְרִית֙ H1285 no league לְיֽוֹשְׁבֵי֙ H3427 with the inhabitants הָאָ֣רֶץ H776 of this land הַזֹּ֔את H2063 likewise מִזְבְּחוֹתֵיהֶ֖ם H4196 their altars תִּתֹּצ֑וּן H5422 ye shall throw down וְלֹֽא־ H3808 no שְׁמַעְתֶּ֥ם H8085 but ye have not obeyed בְּקֹלִ֖י H6963 my voice מַה־ H4100 what זֹּ֥את H2063 have ye עֲשִׂיתֶֽם׃ H6213 why have ye done

³ וְגַ֣ם H1571 also אָמַ֔רְתִּי H559 Wherefore I also said לֹֽא־ H3808 I will not אֲגָרֵ֥שׁ H1644 I will not drive them out אוֹתָ֖ם H853 מִפְּנֵיכֶ֑ם H6440 from before וְהָי֤וּ H1961 will become לָכֶם֙ H0 לְצִדִּ֔ים H6654 you but they shall be in your sides וֵאלֹ֣הֵיהֶ֔ם H430 and their gods יִהְי֥וּ H1961 will become לָכֶ֖ם H0 לְמוֹקֵֽשׁ׃ H4170 shall be a snare

⁴ וַיְהִ֗י H1961 become כְּדַבֵּ֞ר H1696 spake מַלְאַ֤ךְ H4397 And it came to pass when the angel יְהוָה֙ H3068 of the LORD אֶת־ H853 הַדְּבָרִ֣ים H1697 these words הָאֵ֔לֶּה H428 these אֶֽל־ H413 to כָּל־ H3605 all בְּנֵ֖י H1121 unto all the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 of Israel וַיִּשְׂא֥וּ H5375 lifted up הָעָ֛ם H5971 that the people אֶת־ H853 קוֹלָ֖ם H6963 their voice וַיִּבְכּֽוּ׃ H1058 and wept

⁵ וַֽיִּקְרְא֛וּ H7121 And they called שֵֽׁם־ H8034 the name הַמָּק֥וֹם H4725 of that place הַה֖וּא H1931 he בֹּכִ֑ים H1066 Bochim וַיִּזְבְּחוּ־ H2076 and they sacrificed שָׁ֖ם H8033 and there לַֽיהוָֽה׃ H3068 there unto the LORD פ

⁶ וַיְשַׁלַּ֥ח H7971 go יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ H3091 And when Joshua אֶת־ H853 הָעָ֑ם H5971 had let the people וַיֵּלְכ֧וּ H1980 went בְנֵֽי־ H1121 the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל H3478 of Israel אִ֥ישׁ H376 every man לְנַחֲלָת֖וֹ H5159 unto his inheritance לָרֶ֥שֶׁת H3423 to possess אֶת־ H853 הָאָֽרֶץ׃ H776 the land

⁷ וַיַּעַבְד֤וּ H5647 served הָעָם֙ H5971 And the people אֶת־ H853 יְהוָ֔ה H3068 the LORD כֹּ֖ל H3605 all יְמֵ֣י H3117 all the days יְהוֹשֻׁ֑עַ H3091 of Joshua וְכֹ֣ל ׀ H3605 and all יְמֵ֣י H3117 and all the days הַזְּקֵנִ֗ים H2205 of the elders אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 who הֶאֱרִ֤יכוּ H748 defer יָמִים֙ H3117 the days אַחֲרֵ֣י H310 after that יְהוֹשׁ֔וּעַ H3091 Joshua אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who רָא֗וּ H7200 who had seen אֵ֣ת H853 כָּל־ H3605 all מַעֲשֵׂ֤ה H4639 works יְהוָה֙ H3068 of the LORD הַגָּד֔וֹל H1419 all the great אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 which עָשָׂ֖ה H6213 that he did לְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ H3478 for Israel

⁸ וַיָּ֛מָת H4191 died יְהוֹשֻׁ֥עַ H3091 And Joshua בִּן־ H1121 the son נ֖וּן H5126 of Nun עֶ֣בֶד H5650 the servant יְהוָ֑ה H3068 of the LORD בֶּן־ H1121 old מֵאָ֥ה H3967 an hundred וָעֶ֖שֶׂר H6235 and ten שָׁנִֽים׃ H8141 years

⁹ וַיִּקְבְּר֤וּ H6912 And they buried אוֹתוֹ֙ H853 בִּגְב֣וּל H1366 him in the border נַחֲלָת֔וֹ H5159 of his inheritance בְּתִמְנַת־ H0 חֶ֖רֶס H8556 in Timnathheres בְּהַ֣ר H2022 in the mount אֶפְרָ֑יִם H669 of Ephraim מִצְּפ֖וֹן H6828 on the north side לְהַר־ H2022 of the hill גָּֽעַשׁ׃ H1608 Gaash

¹⁰ וְגַם֙ H1571 also כָּל־ H3605 All הַדּ֣וֹר H1755 And also all that generation הַה֔וּא H1931 he נֶאֶסְפ֖וּ H622 were gathered אֶל־ H413 to אֲבוֹתָ֑יו H1 unto their fathers וַיָּקָם֩ H6965 and there arose דּ֨וֹר H1755 generation אַחֵ֜ר H312 another אַחֲרֵיהֶ֗ם H310 after אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 who לֹא־ H3808 did not יָֽדְעוּ֙ H3045 them which knew אֶת־ H853 יְהוָ֔ה H3068 not the LORD וְגַם֙ H1571 nor אֶת־ H853 הַֽמַּעֲשֶׂ֔ה H4639 nor yet the works אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 which עָשָׂ֖ה H6213 which he had done לְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ H3478 for Israel ס

¹¹ וַיַּעֲשׂ֧וּ H6213 did בְנֵֽי־ H1121 And the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל H3478 of Israel אֶת־ H853 הָרַ֖ע H7451 evil בְּעֵינֵ֣י H5869 in the sight יְהוָ֑ה H3068 of the LORD וַיַּעַבְד֖וּ H5647 and served אֶת־ H853 הַבְּעָלִֽים׃ H1168 Baalim

¹² וַיַּעַזְב֞וּ H5800 And they forsook אֶת־ H853 יְהוָ֣ה ׀ H3068 the LORD אֱלֹהֵ֣י H430 God אֲבוֹתָ֗ם H1 of their fathers הַמּוֹצִ֣יא H3318 which brought them out אוֹתָם֮ H853 מֵאֶ֣רֶץ H776 of the land מִצְרַיִם֒ H4714 of Egypt וַיֵּלְכ֞וּ H1980 along אַחֲרֵ֣י ׀ H310 after that אֱלֹהִ֣ים H430 gods אֲחֵרִ֗ים H312 other מֵאֱלֹהֵ֤י H430 of the gods הָֽעַמִּים֙ H5971 of the people אֲשֶׁר֙ H834 who סְבִיב֣וֹתֵיהֶ֔ם H5439 that round about וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲו֖וּ H7812 them and bowed לָהֶ֑ם H0 וַיַּכְעִ֖סוּ H3707 to anger אֶת־ H853 יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 themselves unto them and provoked the LORD

¹³ וַיַּעַזְב֖וּ H5800 And they forsook אֶת־ H853 יְהוָ֑ה H3068 the LORD וַיַּעַבְד֥וּ H5647 and served לַבַּ֖עַל H1168 Baal וְלָעַשְׁתָּרֽוֹת׃ H6252 and Ashtaroth

¹⁴ וַיִּֽחַר־ H2734 was hot אַ֤ף H639 And the anger יְהוָה֙ H3068 of the LORD בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 against Israel וַֽיִּתְּנֵם֙ H5414 and he delivered בְּיַד־ H3027 them into the hands שֹׁסִ֔ים H8154 of spoilers וַיָּשֹׁ֖סּוּ H8155 that spoiled אוֹתָ֑ם H853 וַֽיִּמְכְּרֵ֞ם H4376 them and he sold בְּיַ֤ד H3027 them into the hands אֽוֹיְבֵיהֶם֙ H341 of their enemies מִסָּבִ֔יב H5439 round about וְלֹֽא־ H3808 no יָכְל֣וּ H3201 so that they could ע֔וֹד H5750 not any longer לַעֲמֹ֖ד H5975 stand לִפְנֵ֥י H6440 before אוֹיְבֵיהֶֽם׃ H341 their enemies

¹⁵ בְּכֹ֣ל ׀ H3605 all manner אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 they יָצְא֗וּ H3318 Whithersoever they went out יַד־ H3027 the hand יְהוָה֙ H3068 of the LORD הָיְתָה־ H1961 become בָּ֣ם H0 לְרָעָ֔ה H7451 was against them for evil כַּֽאֲשֶׁר֙ H834 after דִּבֶּ֣ר H1696 had said יְהוָ֔ה H3068 as the LORD וְכַאֲשֶׁ֛ר H834 after נִשְׁבַּ֥ע H7650 had sworn יְהוָ֖ה H3068 and as the LORD לָהֶ֑ם H0 וַיֵּ֥צֶר H3334 distressed לָהֶ֖ם H0 מְאֹֽד׃ H3966 unto them and they were greatly

¹⁶ וַיָּ֥קֶם H6965 raised up יְהוָ֖ה H3068 Nevertheless the LORD שֹֽׁפְטִ֑ים H8199 judges וַיּ֣וֹשִׁיע֔וּם H3467 which delivered מִיַּ֖ד H3027 them out of the hand שֹׁסֵיהֶֽם׃ H8154 of those that spoiled

¹⁷ וְגַ֤ם H1571 Yet אֶל־ H413 to שֹֽׁפְטֵיהֶם֙ H8199 unto their judges לֹ֣א H3808 did not שָׁמֵ֔עוּ H8085 And yet they would not hearken כִּ֣י H3588 for זָנ֗וּ H2181 but they went a whoring אַֽחֲרֵי֙ H310 after אֱלֹהִ֣ים H430 gods אֲחֵרִ֔ים H312 other וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲו֖וּ H7812 and bowed לָהֶ֑ם H0 סָ֣רוּ H5493 themselves unto them they turned מַהֵ֗ר H4118 quickly מִן־ H4480 from הַדֶּ֜רֶךְ H1870 out of the way אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 which הָלְכ֧וּ H1980 walked in אֲבוֹתָ֛ם H1 which their fathers לִשְׁמֹ֥עַ H8085 obeying מִצְוֹת־ H4687 the commandments יְהוָ֖ה H3068 of the LORD לֹא־ H3808 not עָ֥שׂוּ H6213 they did כֵֽן׃ H3651 after that

¹⁸ וְכִֽי־ H3588 When הֵקִ֨ים H6965 raised יְהוָ֥ה ׀ H3068 And when the LORD לָהֶם֮ H0 שֹֽׁפְטִים֒ H8199 them up judges וְהָיָ֤ה H1961 become יְהוָה֙ H3068 then the LORD עִם־ H5973 was with הַשֹּׁפֵ֔ט H8199 was with the judge וְהֽוֹשִׁיעָם֙ H3467 and delivered מִיַּ֣ד H3027 them out of the hand אֹֽיְבֵיהֶ֔ם H341 of their enemies כֹּ֖ל H3605 all יְמֵ֣י H3117 all the days הַשּׁוֹפֵ֑ט H8199 of the judge כִּֽי־ H3588 When יִנָּחֵ֤ם H5162 for it repented יְהוָה֙ H3068 the LORD מִנַּֽאֲקָתָ֔ם H5009 of their groanings מִפְּנֵ֥י H6440 because לֹחֲצֵיהֶ֖ם H3905 by reason of them that oppressed וְדֹחֲקֵיהֶֽם׃ H1766 them and vexed

¹⁹ וְהָיָ֣ה ׀ H1961 came בְּמ֣וֹת H4191 crying הַשּׁוֹפֵ֗ט H8199 And it came to pass when the judge יָשֻׁ֙בוּ֙ H7725 they returned וְהִשְׁחִ֣יתוּ H7843 and corrupted מֵֽאֲבוֹתָ֔ם H1 more than their fathers לָלֶ֗כֶת H1980 along אַֽחֲרֵי֙ H310 after that אֱלֹהִ֣ים H430 gods אֲחֵרִ֔ים H312 other לְעָבְדָ֖ם H5647 to serve וּלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹ֣ת H7812 them and to bow down לָהֶ֑ם H0 לֹ֤א H3808 did not הִפִּ֙ילוּ֙ H5307 unto them they ceased מִמַּ֣עַלְלֵיהֶ֔ם H4611 not from their own doings וּמִדַּרְכָּ֖ם H1870 way הַקָּשָֽׁה׃ H7186 nor from their stubborn

²⁰ וַיִּֽחַר־ H2734 was hot אַ֥ף H639 And the anger יְהוָ֖ה H3068 of the LORD בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 against Israel וַיֹּ֗אמֶר H559 and he said יַעַן֩ H3282 because אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 which עָבְר֜וּ H5674 hath transgressed הַגּ֣וֹי H1471 Because that this people הַזֶּ֗ה H2088 this אֶת־ H853 בְּרִיתִי֙ H1285 my covenant אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 which צִוִּ֣יתִי H6680 which I commanded אֶת־ H853 אֲבוֹתָ֔ם H1 their fathers וְלֹ֥א H3808 not שָׁמְע֖וּ H8085 and have not hearkened לְקוֹלִֽי׃ H6963 unto my voice

²¹ גַּם־ H1571 also אֲנִי֙ H589 I לֹ֣א H3808 will no אוֹסִ֔יף H3254 I also will not henceforth לְהוֹרִ֥ישׁ H3423 drive out אִ֖ישׁ H376 any מִפְּנֵיהֶ֑ם H6440 from before מִן־ H4480 at הַגּוֹיִ֛ם H1471 them of the nations אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which עָזַ֥ב H5800 left יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ H3091 which Joshua וַיָּמֹֽת׃ H4191 when he died

²² לְמַ֛עַן H4616 order נַסּ֥וֹת H5254 That through them I may prove בָּ֖ם H0 אֶת־ H853 יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 Israel הֲשֹׁמְרִ֣ים H8104 whether they will keep הֵם֩ H1992 like אֶת־ H853 דֶּ֨רֶךְ H1870 the way יְהוָ֜ה H3068 of the LORD לָלֶ֣כֶת H1980 to walk בָּ֗ם H0 כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר H834 after שָׁמְר֥וּ H8104 did keep אֲבוֹתָ֖ם H1 therein as their fathers אִם־ H518 or לֹֽא׃ H3808 not

²³ וַיַּנַּ֤ח H3240 left יְהוָה֙ H3068 Therefore the LORD אֶת־ H853 הַגּוֹיִ֣ם H1471 those nations הָאֵ֔לֶּה H428 those לְבִלְתִּ֥י H1115 without הוֹרִישָׁ֖ם H3423 driving them out מַהֵ֑ר H4118 hastily וְלֹ֥א H3808 did not נְתָנָ֖ם H5414 neither delivered בְּיַד־ H3027 he them into the hand יְהוֹשֻֽׁעַ׃ H3091 of Joshua פ

¹ וְאֵ֤לֶּה H428 now these הַגּוֹיִם֙ H1471 Now these the nations אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 which הִנִּ֣יחַ H3240 left יְהוָ֔ה H3068 which the LORD לְנַסּ֥וֹת H5254 to prove בָּ֖ם H0 אֶת־ H853 יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 Israel אֵ֚ת H853 כָּל־ H3605 all אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who לֹֽא־ H3808 had not יָדְע֔וּ H3045 by them as many as had not known אֵ֖ת H853 כָּל־ H3605 any מִלְחֲמ֥וֹת H4421 all the wars כְּנָֽעַן׃ H3667 of Canaan

² רַ֗ק H7535 Only that לְמַ֙עַן֙ H4616 order דַּ֚עַת H1847 cunning דֹּר֣וֹת H1755 the generations בְּנֵֽי־ H1121 of the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 of Israel לְלַמְּדָ֖ם H3925 to teach מִלְחָמָ֑ה H4421 them war רַ֥ק H7535 but אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who לְפָנִ֖ים H6440 at the least such as before לֹ֥א H3808 had not יְדָעֽוּם׃ H3045 might know

³ חֲמֵ֣שֶׁת ׀ H2568 five סַרְנֵ֣י H5633 lords פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים H6430 of the Philistines וְכָל־ H3605 and all הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ H3669 and all the Canaanites וְהַצִּ֣ידֹנִ֔י H6722 and the Sidonians וְהַ֣חִוִּ֔י H2340 and the Hivites יֹשֵׁ֖ב H3427 that dwelt הַ֣ר H2022 in mount הַלְּבָנ֑וֹן H3844 Lebanon מֵהַר֙ H2022 from mount בַּ֣עַל H0 חֶרְמ֔וֹן H1179 Baalhermon עַ֖ד H5704 far לְב֥וֹא H935 unto the entering in חֲמָֽת׃ H2574 of Hamath

⁴ וַֽיִּהְי֕וּ H1961 were for לְנַסּ֥וֹת H5254 And they were to prove בָּ֖ם H0 אֶת־ H853 יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 Israel לָדַ֗עַת H3045 by them to know הֲיִשְׁמְעוּ֙ H8085 whether they would hearken אֶת־ H853 מִצְוֹ֣ת H4687 unto the commandments יְהוָ֔ה H3068 of the LORD אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which צִוָּ֥ה H6680 which he commanded אֶת־ H853 אֲבוֹתָ֖ם H1 their fathers בְּיַד־ H3027 by the hand מֹשֶֽׁה׃ H4872 of Moses

⁵ וּבְנֵ֣י H1121 And the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 of Israel יָשְׁב֖וּ H3427 dwelt בְּקֶ֣רֶב H7130 among הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֑י H3669 the Canaanites הַחִתִּ֤י H2850 Hittites וְהָֽאֱמֹרִי֙ H567 and Amorites וְהַפְּרִזִּ֔י H6522 and Perizzites וְהַחִוִּ֖י H2340 and Hivites וְהַיְבוּסִֽי׃ H2983 and Jebusites

⁶ וַיִּקְח֨וּ H3947 And they took אֶת־ H853 בְּנוֹתֵיהֶ֤ם H1323 their daughters לָהֶם֙ H1992 as לְנָשִׁ֔ים H802 to be their wives וְאֶת־ H853 בְּנוֹתֵיהֶ֖ם H1323 their daughters נָתְנ֣וּ H5414 and gave לִבְנֵיהֶ֑ם H1121 to their sons וַיַּעַבְד֖וּ H5647 and served אֶת־ H853 אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃ H430 their gods פ

⁷ וַיַּעֲשׂ֨וּ H6213 did בְנֵי־ H1121 And the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל H3478 of Israel אֶת־ H853 הָרַע֙ H7451 evil בְּעֵינֵ֣י H5869 in the sight יְהוָ֔ה H3068 of the LORD וַֽיִּשְׁכְּח֖וּ H7911 and forgat אֶת־ H853 יְהוָ֣ה H3068 the LORD אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֑ם H430 their God וַיַּעַבְד֥וּ H5647 and served אֶת־ H853 הַבְּעָלִ֖ים H1168 Baalim וְאֶת־ H853 הָאֲשֵׁרֽוֹת׃ H842 and the groves

⁸ וַיִּֽחַר־ H2734 was hot אַ֤ף H639 Therefore the anger יְהוָה֙ H3068 of the LORD בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 against Israel וַֽיִּמְכְּרֵ֗ם H4376 and he sold בְּיַד֙ H3027 them into the hand כּוּשַׁ֣ן H0 רִשְׁעָתַ֔יִם H3573 of Chushanrishathaim מֶ֖לֶךְ H4428 king אֲרַ֣ם H0 נַהֲרָ֑יִם H763 of Mesopotamia וַיַּעַבְד֧וּ H5647 served בְנֵֽי־ H1121 and the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל H3478 of Israel אֶת־ H853 כּוּשַׁ֥ן H0 רִשְׁעָתַ֖יִם H3573 Chushanrishathaim שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה H8083 eight שָׁנִֽים׃ H8141 years

⁹ וַיִּזְעֲק֤וּ H2199 cried בְנֵֽי־ H1121 And when the children יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ H3478 of Israel אֶל־ H413 to יְהוָ֔ה H3068 unto the LORD וַיָּ֨קֶם H6965 raised up יְהוָ֥ה H3068 the LORD מוֹשִׁ֛יעַ H3467 a deliverer לִבְנֵ֥י H1121 to the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל H3478 of Israel וַיּֽוֹשִׁיעֵ֑ם H3467 who delivered אֵ֚ת H853 עָתְנִיאֵ֣ל H6274 them Othniel בֶּן־ H1121 the son קְנַ֔ז H7073 of Kenaz אֲחִ֥י H251 brother כָלֵ֖ב H3612 Caleb's הַקָּטֹ֥ן H6996 younger מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃ H4480 at

¹⁰ וַתְּהִ֨י H1961 came עָלָ֥יו H5921 over רֽוּחַ־ H7307 And the Spirit יְהוָה֮ H3068 of the LORD וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֣ט H8199 came upon him and he judged אֶת־ H853 יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ H3478 Israel וַיֵּצֵא֙ H3318 and went out לַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה H4421 to war וַיִּתֵּ֤ן H5414 delivered יְהוָה֙ H3068 and the LORD בְּיָד֔וֹ H3027 into his hand אֶת־ H853 כּוּשַׁ֥ן H0 רִשְׁעָתַ֖יִם H3573 Chushanrishathaim מֶ֣לֶךְ H4428 king אֲרָ֑ם H758 Aram וַתָּ֣עָז H5810 prevailed יָד֔וֹ H3027 and his hand עַ֖ל H5921 over כּוּשַׁ֥ן H0 רִשְׁעָתָֽיִם׃ H3573 against Chushanrishathaim

¹² וַיֹּסִ֙פוּ֙ H3254 again בְּנֵ֣י H1121 And the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 of Israel לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת H6213 did הָרַ֖ע H7451 evil בְּעֵינֵ֣י H5869 in the sight יְהוָ֑ה H3068 of the LORD וַיְחַזֵּ֨ק H2388 strengthened יְהוָ֜ה H3068 and the LORD אֶת־ H853 עֶגְל֤וֹן H5700 Eglon מֶֽלֶךְ־ H4428 the king מוֹאָב֙ H4124 of Moab עַל־ H5921 against יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 against Israel עַ֛ל H5921 against כִּֽי־ H3588 for עָשׂ֥וּ H6213 because they had done אֶת־ H853 הָרַ֖ע H7451 evil בְּעֵינֵ֥י H5869 in the sight יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 of the LORD

¹³ וַיֶּאֱסֹ֣ף H622 And he gathered אֵלָ֔יו H413 about אֶת־ H853 בְּנֵ֥י H1121 unto him the children עַמּ֖וֹן H5983 of Ammon וַעֲמָלֵ֑ק H6002 and Amalek וַיֵּ֗לֶךְ H1980 went וַיַּךְ֙ H5221 and smote אֶת־ H853 יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 Israel וַיִּֽירְשׁ֖וּ H3423 and possessed אֶת־ H853 עִ֥יר H5892 the city הַתְּמָרִֽים׃ H8558 of the palm

¹⁴ וַיַּעַבְד֤וּ H5647 served בְנֵֽי־ H1121 So the children יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ H3478 of Israel אֶת־ H853 עֶגְל֣וֹן H5700 Eglon מֶֽלֶךְ־ H4428 the king מוֹאָ֔ב H4124 of Moab שְׁמוֹנֶ֥ה H8083 eight עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה H6240 teen שָׁנָֽה׃ H8141 years ס

¹⁵ וַיִּזְעֲק֣וּ H2199 cried בְנֵֽי־ H1121 But when the children יִשְׂרָאֵל֮ H3478 of Israel אֶל־ H413 to יְהוָה֒ H3068 unto the LORD וַיָּקֶם֩ H6965 raised them up יְהוָ֨ה H3068 the LORD לָהֶ֜ם H0 מוֹשִׁ֗יעַ H3467 a deliverer אֶת־ H853 אֵה֤וּד H164 Ehud בֶּן־ H1121 the son גֵּרָא֙ H1617 of Gera בֶּן־ H0 הַיְמִינִ֔י H1145 a Benjamite אִ֥ישׁ H376 a man אִטֵּ֖ר H334 left יַד־ H3027 and by him יְמִינ֑וֹ H3225 left-handed וַיִּשְׁלְח֨וּ H7971 sent בְנֵי־ H1121 the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל H3478 of Israel בְּיָדוֹ֙ H3027 able מִנְחָ֔ה H4503 a present לְעֶגְל֖וֹן H5700 unto Eglon מֶ֥לֶךְ H4428 the king מוֹאָֽב׃ H4124 of Moab

¹⁶ וַיַּעַשׂ֩ H6213 made ל֨וֹ H0 אֵה֜וּד H164 But Ehud חֶ֗רֶב H2719 him a dagger וְלָ֛הּ H0 שְׁנֵ֥י H8147 which had two פֵי֖וֹת H6366 edges גֹּ֣מֶד H1574 of a cubit אָרְכָּ֑הּ H753 length וַיַּחְגֹּ֤ר H2296 and he did gird אוֹתָהּ֙ H853 מִתַּ֣חַת H8478 under לְמַדָּ֔יו H4055 it under his raiment עַ֖ל H5921 and יֶ֥רֶךְ H3409 thigh יְמִינֽוֹ׃ H3225 upon his right

²¹ וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח H7971 put forth אֵהוּד֙ H164 And Ehud אֶת־ H853 יַ֣ד H3027 hand שְׂמֹאל֔וֹ H8040 his left וַיִּקַּח֙ H3947 and took אֶת־ H853 הַחֶ֔רֶב H2719 the dagger מֵעַ֖ל H5921 and יֶ֣רֶךְ H3409 thigh יְמִינ֑וֹ H3225 from his right וַיִּתְקָעֶ֖הָ H8628 and thrust בְּבִטְנֽוֹ׃ H990 it into his belly

²² וַיָּבֹ֨א H935 also went in גַֽם־ H1571 also הַנִּצָּ֜ב H5325 And the haft אַחַ֣ר H310 after הַלַּ֗הַב H3851 the blade וַיִּסְגֹּ֤ר H5462 closed הַחֵ֙לֶב֙ H2459 and the fat בְּעַ֣ד H1157 upon הַלַּ֔הַב H3851 the blade כִּ֣י H3588 for לֹ֥א H3808 did not שָׁלַ֛ף H8025 so that he could not draw הַחֶ֖רֶב H2719 the dagger מִבִּטְנ֑וֹ H990 out of his belly וַיֵּצֵ֖א H3318 came out הַֽפַּרְשְׁדֹֽנָה׃ H6574 and the dirt

²³ וַיֵּצֵ֥א H3318 went forth אֵה֖וּד H164 Then Ehud הַֽמִּסְדְּר֑וֹנָה H4528 through the porch וַיִּסְגֹּ֞ר H5462 and shut דַּלְת֧וֹת H1817 the doors הָעַלִיָּ֛ה H5944 of the parlour בַּעֲד֖וֹ H5774 brandish וְנָעָֽל׃ H5274 upon him and locked

²⁴ וְה֤וּא H1931 he יָצָא֙ H3318 When he was gone out וַעֲבָדָ֣יו H5650 his servants בָּ֔אוּ H935 came וַיִּרְא֕וּ H7200 and when they saw וְהִנֵּ֛ה H2009 and behold דַּלְת֥וֹת H1817 that behold the doors הָעֲלִיָּ֖ה H5944 of the parlour נְעֻל֑וֹת H5274 locked וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ H559 they said אַ֣ךְ H389 is only מֵסִ֥יךְ H5526 Surely he covereth ה֛וּא H1931 he אֶת־ H853 רַגְלָ֖יו H7272 his feet בַּחֲדַ֥ר H2315 chamber הַמְּקֵרָֽה׃ H4747 in his summer

²⁵ וַיָּחִ֣ילוּ H2342 And they tarried עַד־ H5704 until בּ֔וֹשׁ H954 till they were ashamed וְהִנֵּ֛ה H2009 behold אֵינֶ֥נּוּ H369 did not פֹתֵ֖חַ H6605 and behold he opened דַּלְת֣וֹת H1817 not the doors הָֽעֲלִיָּ֑ה H5944 of the parlour וַיִּקְח֤וּ H3947 therefore they took אֶת־ H853 הַמַּפְתֵּ֙חַ֙ H4668 a key וַיִּפְתָּ֔חוּ H6605 and opened וְהִנֵּה֙ H2009 and behold אֲדֹ֣נֵיהֶ֔ם H113 and behold their lord נֹפֵ֥ל H5307 fallen down אַ֖רְצָה H776 on the earth מֵֽת׃ H4191 dead

²⁶ וְאֵה֥וּד H164 And Ehud נִמְלַ֖ט H4422 escaped עַ֣ד H5704 while הִֽתְמַהְמְהָ֑ם H4102 while they tarried וְהוּא֙ H1931 and he עָבַ֣ר H5674 and passed beyond אֶת־ H853 הַפְּסִילִ֔ים H6456 the quarries וַיִּמָּלֵ֖ט H4422 and escaped הַשְּׂעִירָֽתָה׃ H8167 unto Seirath

²⁷ וַיְהִ֣י H1961 came בְּבוֹא֔וֹ H935 And it came to pass when he was come וַיִּתְקַ֥ע H8628 that he blew בַּשּׁוֹפָ֖ר H7782 a trumpet בְּהַ֣ר H2022 in the mountain אֶפְרָ֑יִם H669 of Ephraim וַיֵּרְד֨וּ H3381 went down עִמּ֧וֹ H5973 with בְנֵֽי־ H1121 and the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל H3478 of Israel מִן־ H4480 at הָהָ֖ר H2022 with him from the mount וְה֥וּא H1931 and he in לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ H6440 and he before

²⁸ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 And he said אֲלֵהֶם֙ H413 to רִדְפ֣וּ H7291 unto them Follow אַחֲרַ֔י H310 after כִּֽי־ H3588 for נָתַ֨ן H5414 hath delivered יְהוָ֧ה H3068 me for the LORD אֶת־ H853 אֹיְבֵיכֶ֛ם H341 your enemies אֶת־ H853 מוֹאָ֖ב H4124 the Moabites בְּיֶדְכֶ֑ם H3027 into your hand וַיֵּרְד֣וּ H3381 And they went down אַחֲרָ֗יו H310 after וַֽיִּלְכְּד֞וּ H3920 him and took אֶת־ H853 מַעְבְּר֤וֹת H4569 the fords הַיַּרְדֵּן֙ H3383 of Jordan לְמוֹאָ֔ב H4124 toward Moab וְלֹֽא־ H3808 and did not נָתְנ֥וּ H5414 and suffered אִ֖ישׁ H376 not a man לַעֲבֹֽר׃ H5674 to pass over

²⁹ וַיַּכּ֨וּ H5221 And they slew אֶת־ H853 מוֹאָ֜ב H4124 of Moab בָּעֵ֣ת H6256 at that time הַהִ֗יא H1931 he כַּעֲשֶׂ֤רֶת H6235 about ten אֲלָפִים֙ H505 thousand אִ֔ישׁ H376 men כָּל־ H3605 all שָׁמֵ֖ן H8082 all lusty וְכָל־ H3605 all אִ֣ישׁ H376 and all men חָ֑יִל H2428 of valour וְלֹ֥א H3808 and no נִמְלַ֖ט H4422 and there escaped אִֽישׁ׃ H376 not a man

³⁰ וַתִּכָּנַ֤ע H3665 was subdued מוֹאָב֙ H4124 So Moab בַּיּ֣וֹם H3117 that day הַה֔וּא H1931 he תַּ֖חַת H8478 under יַ֣ד H3027 under the hand יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 of Israel וַתִּשְׁקֹ֥ט H8252 had rest הָאָ֖רֶץ H776 And the land שְׁמוֹנִ֥ים H8084 fourscore שָׁנָֽה׃ H8141 years ס

³¹ וְאַחֲרָ֤יו H310 And after הָיָה֙ H1961 came שַׁמְגַּ֣ר H8044 him was Shamgar בֶּן־ H1121 the son עֲנָ֔ת H6067 of Anath וַיַּ֤ךְ H5221 which slew אֶת־ H853 פְּלִשְׁתִּים֙ H6430 of the Philistines שֵֽׁשׁ־ H8337 six מֵא֣וֹת H3967 hundred אִ֔ישׁ H376 men בְּמַלְמַ֖ד H4451 goad הַבָּקָ֑ר H1241 with an ox וַיֹּ֥שַׁע H3467 and he also delivered גַּם־ H1571 also ה֖וּא H1931 he אֶת־ H853 יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ H3478 Israel ס

² וַיִּמְכְּרֵ֣ם H4376 sold יְהוָ֗ה H3068 And the LORD בְּיַד֙ H3027 them into the hand יָבִ֣ין H2985 of Jabin מֶֽלֶךְ־ H4428 king כְּנַ֔עַן H3667 of Canaan אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 who מָלַ֖ךְ H4427 that reigned בְּחָצ֑וֹר H2674 in Hazor וְשַׂר־ H8269 the captain צְבָאוֹ֙ H6635 of whose host סִֽיסְרָ֔א H5516 Sisera וְה֥וּא H1931 he יוֹשֵׁ֖ב H3427 which dwelt בַּחֲרֹ֥שֶׁת H2800 in Harosheth הַגּוֹיִֽם׃ H1471 of the Gentiles

³ וַיִּצְעֲק֥וּ H6817 cried בְנֵֽי־ H1121 And the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל H3478 of Israel אֶל־ H413 to יְהוָ֑ה H3068 unto the LORD כִּ֠י H3588 for תְּשַׁ֨ע H8672 for he had nine מֵא֤וֹת H3967 hundred רֶֽכֶב־ H7393 chariots בַּרְזֶל֙ H1270 of iron ל֔וֹ H0 וְ֠הוּא H1931 and he לָחַ֞ץ H3905 oppressed אֶת־ H853 בְּנֵ֧י H1121 the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל H3478 of Israel בְּחָזְקָ֖ה H2394 he mightily עֶשְׂרִ֥ים H6242 and twenty שָׁנָֽה׃ H8141 years ס

⁴ וּדְבוֹרָה֙ H1683 And Deborah אִשָּׁ֣ה H802 the wife נְבִיאָ֔ה H5031 a prophetess אֵ֖שֶׁת H802 the wife לַפִּיד֑וֹת H3941 of Lapidoth הִ֛יא H1931 he שֹׁפְטָ֥ה H8199 she judged אֶת־ H853 יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל H3478 Israel בָּעֵ֥ת H6256 at that time הַהִֽיא׃ H1931 he

⁵ וְ֠הִיא H1931 he יוֹשֶׁ֨בֶת H3427 And she dwelt תַּֽחַת־ H8478 under תֹּ֜מֶר H8560 under the palm tree דְּבוֹרָ֗ה H1683 of Deborah בֵּ֧ין H996 between הָרָמָ֛ה H7414 between Ramah וּבֵ֥ין H996 between בֵּֽית־ H0 אֵ֖ל H1008 and Bethel בְּהַ֣ר H2022 in mount אֶפְרָ֑יִם H669 Ephraim וַיַּעֲל֥וּ H5927 came up אֵלֶ֛יהָ H413 and to בְּנֵ֥י H1121 and the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל H3478 of Israel לַמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃ H4941 to her for judgment

⁶ וַתִּשְׁלַ֗ח H7971 And she sent וַתִּקְרָא֙ H7121 and called לְבָרָ֣ק H1301 Barak בֶּן־ H1121 the son אֲבִינֹ֔עַם H42 of Abinoam מִקֶּ֖דֶשׁ H6943 out of Kedeshnaphtali נַפְתָּלִ֑י H5321 of Naphtali וַתֹּ֨אמֶר H559 and said אֵלָ֜יו H413 to him הֲלֹ֥א H3808 Behold צִוָּ֣ה ׀ H6680 commanded יְהוָ֣ה H3068 unto him Hath not the LORD אֱלֹהֵֽי־ H430 God יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל H3478 of Israel לֵ֤ךְ H1980 Go וּמָֽשַׁכְתָּ֙ H4900 and draw בְּהַ֣ר H2022 toward mount תָּב֔וֹר H8396 Tabor וְלָקַחְתָּ֣ H3947 and take עִמְּךָ֗ H5973 you עֲשֶׂ֤רֶת H6235 with thee ten אֲלָפִים֙ H505 thousand אִ֔ישׁ H376 men מִבְּנֵ֥י H1121 of the children נַפְתָּלִ֖י H5321 of Naphtali וּמִבְּנֵ֥י H1121 and of the children זְבֻלֽוּן׃ H2074 of Zebulun

⁷ וּמָשַׁכְתִּ֨י H4900 And I will draw אֵלֶ֜יךָ H413 about אֶל־ H413 about נַ֣חַל H5158 unto thee to the river קִישׁ֗וֹן H7028 Kishon אֶת־ H853 סִֽיסְרָא֙ H5516 Sisera שַׂר־ H8269 the captain צְבָ֣א H6635 army יָבִ֔ין H2985 of Jabin's וְאֶת־ H853 רִכְבּ֖וֹ H7393 with his chariots וְאֶת־ H853 הֲמוֹנ֑וֹ H1995 and his multitude וּנְתַתִּ֖יהוּ H5414 and I will deliver בְּיָדֶֽךָ׃ H3027 him into thine hand

⁸ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 said אֵלֶ֙יהָ֙ H413 then בָּרָ֔ק H1301 And Barak אִם־ H518 to her If תֵּלְכִ֥י H1980 with me then I will go עִמִּ֖י H5973 with וְהָלָ֑כְתִּי H1980 will go וְאִם־ H518 if לֹ֥א H3808 you will not תֵלְכִ֛י H1980 go עִמִּ֖י H5973 with לֹ֥א H3808 I will not אֵלֵֽךְ׃ H1980 go

⁹ וַתֹּ֜אמֶר H559 And she said הָלֹ֧ךְ H1980 I will surely אֵלֵ֣ךְ H1980 that thou takest עִמָּ֗ךְ H5973 thee אֶ֚פֶס H657 with thee notwithstanding כִּי֩ H3588 for לֹ֨א H3808 not תִֽהְיֶ֜ה H1961 become תִּֽפְאַרְתְּךָ֗ H8597 shall not be for thine honour עַל־ H5921 on הַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ H1870 the journey אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 after אַתָּ֣ה H859 you are about הוֹלֵ֔ךְ H1980 to take כִּ֣י H3588 into בְֽיַד־ H3027 into the hand אִשָּׁ֔ה H802 of a woman יִמְכֹּ֥ר H4376 shall sell יְהוָ֖ה H3068 for the LORD אֶת־ H853 סִֽיסְרָ֑א H5516 Sisera וַתָּ֧קָם H6965 arose דְּבוֹרָ֛ה H1683 And Deborah וַתֵּ֥לֶךְ H1980 and went עִם־ H5973 with בָּרָ֖ק H1301 with Barak קֶֽדְשָׁה׃ H6943 to Kedesh

¹⁰ וַיַּזְעֵ֨ק H2199 called בָּרָ֜ק H1301 And Barak אֶת־ H853 זְבוּלֻ֤ן H2074 Zebulun וְאֶת־ H853 נַפְתָּלִי֙ H5321 and Naphtali קֶ֔דְשָׁה H6943 to Kedesh וַיַּ֣עַל H5927 and he went up בְּרַגְלָ֔יו H7272 at his feet עֲשֶׂ֥רֶת H6235 with ten אַלְפֵ֖י H505 thousand אִ֑ישׁ H376 men וַתַּ֥עַל H5927 went up עִמּ֖וֹ H5973 with דְּבוֹרָֽה׃ H1683 and Deborah

So Barak מֵהַ֣ר H2022 from mount תָּב֔וֹר H8396 Tabor וַעֲשֶׂ֧רֶת H6235 and ten אֲלָפִ֛ים H505 thousand אִ֖ישׁ H376 men אַחֲרָֽיו׃ H310 after

¹⁵ וַיָּ֣הָם H2000 discomfited יְ֠הוָה H3068 And the LORD אֶת־ H853 סִֽיסְרָ֨א H5516 Sisera וְאֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 and all הָרֶ֧כֶב H7393 and all chariots וְאֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 and all הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֛ה H4264 and all host לְפִי־ H6310 with the edge חֶ֖רֶב H2719 of the sword לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 before בָרָ֑ק H1301 Barak וַיֵּ֧רֶד H3381 lighted down סִֽיסְרָ֛א H5516 so that Sisera מֵעַ֥ל H5921 and הַמֶּרְכָּבָ֖ה H4818 off chariot וַיָּ֥נָס H5127 and fled away בְּרַגְלָֽיו׃ H7272 on his feet

¹⁶ וּבָרָ֗ק H1301 But Barak רָדַ֞ף H7291 pursued אַחֲרֵ֤י H310 after הָרֶ֙כֶב֙ H7393 the chariots וְאַחֲרֵ֣י H310 And הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה H4264 and after the host עַ֖ד H5704 far חֲרֹ֣שֶׁת H2800 unto Harosheth הַגּוֹיִ֑ם H1471 of the Gentiles וַיִּפֹּ֞ל H5307 fell כָּל־ H3605 and all מַחֲנֵ֤ה H4264 and all the host סִֽיסְרָא֙ H5516 of Sisera לְפִי־ H6310 upon the edge חֶ֔רֶב H2719 of the sword לֹ֥א H3808 not נִשְׁאַ֖ר H7604 left עַד־ H5704 even אֶחָֽד׃ H259 there was not a man

¹⁷ וְסִֽיסְרָא֙ H5516 Howbeit Sisera נָ֣ס H5127 fled away בְּרַגְלָ֔יו H7272 on his feet אֶל־ H413 to אֹ֣הֶל H168 to the tent יָעֵ֔ל H3278 of Jael אֵ֖שֶׁת H802 the wife חֶ֣בֶר H2268 of Heber הַקֵּינִ֑י H7017 the Kenite כִּ֣י H3588 for שָׁל֗וֹם H7965 for peace בֵּ֚ין H996 between יָבִ֣ין H2985 between Jabin מֶֽלֶךְ־ H4428 the king חָצ֔וֹר H2674 of Hazor וּבֵ֕ין H996 between בֵּ֖ית H1004 and the house חֶ֥בֶר H2268 of Heber הַקֵּינִֽי׃ H7017 the Kenite

¹⁸ וַתֵּצֵ֣א H3318 went out יָעֵל֮ H3278 And Jael לִקְרַ֣את H7125 to meet סִֽיסְרָא֒ H5516 Sisera וַתֹּ֣אמֶר H559 and said אֵלָ֗יו H413 to him סוּרָ֧ה H5493 unto him Turn in אֲדֹנִ֛י H113 my lord סוּרָ֥ה H5493 turn in אֵלַ֖י H413 about אַל־ H408 not תִּירָ֑א H3372 to me fear וַיָּ֤סַר H5493 not And when he had turned in אֵלֶ֙יהָ֙ H413 to her הָאֹ֔הֱלָה H168 unto her into the tent וַתְּכַסֵּ֖הוּ H3680 she covered בַּשְּׂמִיכָֽה׃ H8063 him with a mantle

¹⁹ וַיֹּ֧אמֶר H559 And he said אֵלֶ֛יהָ H413 about הַשְׁקִינִי־ H8248 to drink נָ֥א H4994 to her Please מְעַט־ H4592 unto her Give me I pray thee a little מַ֖יִם H4325 water כִּ֣י H3588 for צָמֵ֑אתִי H6770 for I am thirsty וַתִּפְתַּ֞ח H6605 And she opened אֶת־ H853 נֹ֧אוד H4997 a bottle הֶחָלָ֛ב H2461 of milk וַתַּשְׁקֵ֖הוּ H8248 and gave him drink וַתְּכַסֵּֽהוּ׃ H3680 and covered

²⁰ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 Again he said אֵלֶ֔יהָ H413 to her עֲמֹ֖ד H5975 unto her Stand in פֶּ֣תַח H6607 the door הָאֹ֑הֶל H168 of the tent וְהָיָה֩ H1961 become אִם־ H518 shall be if אִ֨ישׁ H376 and it shall be when any man יָב֜וֹא H935 doth come וּשְׁאֵלֵ֗ךְ H7592 and enquire וְאָמַ֛ר H559 of thee and say הֲיֵֽשׁ־ H3426 is there פֹּ֥ה H6311 here אִ֖ישׁ H376 any man וְאָמַ֥רְתְּ H559 and says אָֽיִן׃ H369 else

²¹ וַתִּקַּ֣ח H3947 took יָעֵ֣ל H3278 Then Jael אֵֽשֶׁת־ H802 wife חֶ֠בֶר H2268 Heber's אֶת־ H853 יְתַ֨ד H3489 a nail הָאֹ֜הֶל H168 of the tent וַתָּ֧שֶׂם H7760 and took אֶת־ H853 הַמַּקֶּ֣בֶת H4718 an hammer בְּיָדָ֗הּ H3027 in her hand וַתָּב֤וֹא H935 and went אֵלָיו֙ H413 about בַּלָּ֔אט H3909 secretly וַתִּתְקַ֤ע H8628 unto him and smote אֶת־ H853 הַיָּתֵד֙ H3489 the nail בְּרַקָּת֔וֹ H7541 into his temples וַתִּצְנַ֖ח H6795 and fastened בָּאָ֑רֶץ H776 it into the ground וְהֽוּא־ H1931 he נִרְדָּ֥ם H7290 for he was fast asleep וַיָּ֖עַף H5774 and weary וַיָּמֹֽת׃ H4191 So he died

²² וְהִנֵּ֣ה H2009 and behold בָרָק֮ H1301 And behold as Barak רֹדֵ֣ף H7291 pursued אֶת־ H853 סִֽיסְרָא֒ H5516 Sisera וַתֵּצֵ֤א H3318 came out יָעֵל֙ H3278 Jael לִקְרָאת֔וֹ H7125 to meet וַתֹּ֣אמֶר H559 him and said ל֔וֹ H0 לֵ֣ךְ H1980 Come וְאַרְאֶ֔ךָּ H7200 and I will shew אֶת־ H853 הָאִ֖ישׁ H376 thee the man אֲשֶׁר־ H834 whom אַתָּ֣ה H859 you מְבַקֵּ֑שׁ H1245 whom thou seekest וַיָּבֹ֣א H935 And when he came אֵלֶ֔יהָ H413 her וְהִנֵּ֤ה H2009 behold סִֽיסְרָא֙ H5516 into her behold Sisera נֹפֵ֣ל H5307 lay מֵ֔ת H4191 dead וְהַיָּתֵ֖ד H3489 and the nail בְּרַקָּתֽוֹ׃ H7541 in his temples

²³ וַיַּכְנַ֤ע H3665 subdued אֱלֹהִים֙ H430 So God בַּיּ֣וֹם H3117 on that day הַה֔וּא H1931 he אֵ֖ת H853 יָבִ֣ין H2985 Jabin מֶֽלֶךְ־ H4428 the king כְּנָ֑עַן H3667 of Canaan לִפְנֵ֖י H6440 before בְּנֵ֥י H1121 the children יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ H3478 of Israel

²⁴ וַתֵּ֜לֶךְ H1980 pressed יַ֤ד H3027 And the hand בְּנֵֽי־ H1121 of the children יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ H3478 of Israel הָל֣וֹךְ H1980 heavier וְקָשָׁ֔ה H7186 and prevailed עַ֖ל H5921 upon יָבִ֣ין H2985 against Jabin מֶֽלֶךְ־ H4428 the king כְּנָ֑עַן H3667 of Canaan עַ֚ד H5704 against אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 they הִכְרִ֔יתוּ H3772 until they had destroyed אֵ֖ת H853 יָבִ֥ין H2985 Jabin מֶֽלֶךְ־ H4428 king כְּנָֽעַן׃ H3667 of Canaan פ

⁶ בִּימֵ֞י H3117 In the days שַׁמְגַּ֤ר H8044 of Shamgar בֶּן־ H1121 the son עֲנָת֙ H6067 of Anath בִּימֵ֣י H3117 in the days יָעֵ֔ל H3278 of Jael חָדְל֖וּ H2308 were unoccupied אֳרָח֑וֹת H734 the highways וְהֹלְכֵ֣י H1980 and the travellers נְתִיב֔וֹת H5410 path יֵלְכ֕וּ H1980 went אֳרָח֖וֹת H734 ways עֲקַלְקַלּֽוֹת׃ H6128 roundabout

⁷ חָדְל֧וּ H2308 ceased פְרָז֛וֹן H6520 the villages בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל H3478 in Israel חָדֵ֑לּוּ H2308 they ceased עַ֤ד H5704 Until שַׁקַּ֙מְתִּי֙ H6965 arose דְּבוֹרָ֔ה H1683 until that I Deborah שַׁקַּ֥מְתִּי H6965 that I arose אֵ֖ם H517 a mother בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ H3478 in Israel

¹ וַיַּעֲשׂ֧וּ H6213 did בְנֵי־ H1121 And the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל H3478 of Israel הָרַ֖ע H7451 evil בְּעֵינֵ֣י H5869 in the sight יְהוָ֑ה H3068 of the LORD וַיִּתְּנֵ֧ם H5414 delivered יְהוָ֛ה H3068 and the LORD בְּיַד־ H3027 them into the hand מִדְיָ֖ן H4080 of Midian שֶׁ֥בַע H7651 seven שָׁנִֽים׃ H8141 years

² וַתָּ֥עָז H5810 prevailed יַד־ H3027 And the hand מִדְיָ֖ן H4080 of Midian עַל־ H5921 against יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 against Israel מִפְּנֵ֨י H6440 because מִדְיָ֜ן H4080 of the Midianites עָשֽׂוּ H6213 made לָהֶ֣ם ׀ H0 בְּנֵ֣י H1121 the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל H3478 of Israel אֶת־ H853 הַמִּנְהָרוֹת֙ H4492 them the dens אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 which בֶּֽהָרִ֔ים H2022 which in the mountains וְאֶת־ H853 הַמְּעָר֖וֹת H4631 and caves וְאֶת־ H853 הַמְּצָדֽוֹת׃ H4679 and strong holds

³ וְהָיָ֖ה H1961 it was אִם־ H518 when זָרַ֣ע H2232 had sown יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 And it was when Israel וְעָלָ֨ה H5927 came up מִדְיָ֧ן H4080 that the Midianites וַֽעֲמָלֵ֛ק H6002 and the Amalekites וּבְנֵי־ H1121 and the children קֶ֖דֶם H6924 of the east וְעָל֥וּ H5927 even they came up עָלָֽיו׃ H5921 against

⁴ וַיַּחֲנ֣וּ H2583 And they encamped עֲלֵיהֶ֗ם H5921 against וַיַּשְׁחִ֙יתוּ֙ H7843 against them and destroyed אֶת־ H853 יְב֣וּל H2981 the increase הָאָ֔רֶץ H776 of the earth עַד־ H5704 thou בּוֹאֲךָ֖ H935 till thou come עַזָּ֑ה H5804 unto Gaza וְלֹֽא־ H3808 no יַשְׁאִ֤ירוּ H7604 and left מִֽחְיָה֙ H4241 no sustenance בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 for Israel וְשֶׂ֥ה H7716 neither sheep וָשׁ֖וֹר H7794 nor ox וַחֲמֽוֹר׃ H2543 nor ass

⁵ כִּ֡י H3588 for הֵם֩ H1992 with וּמִקְנֵיהֶ֨ם H4735 with their cattle יַעֲל֜וּ H5927 For they came up וְאָהֳלֵיהֶ֗ם H168 and their tents <יָבֹאוּ כ> (וּבָ֤אוּ H935 came ק) כְדֵֽי־ H1767 as אַרְבֶּה֙ H697 grasshoppers לָרֹ֔ב H7230 for multitude וְלָהֶ֥ם H0 וְלִגְמַלֵּיהֶ֖ם H1581 both they and their camels אֵ֣ין H369 were without מִסְפָּ֑ר H4557 were without number וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ H935 and they entered בָאָ֖רֶץ H776 into the land לְשַׁחֲתָֽהּ׃ H7843 to destroy

⁶ וַיִּדַּ֧ל H1809 impoverished יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל H3478 And Israel מְאֹ֖ד H3966 was greatly מִפְּנֵ֣י H6440 because מִדְיָ֑ן H4080 of the Midianites וַיִּזְעֲק֥וּ H2199 cried בְנֵֽי־ H1121 and the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל H3478 of Israel אֶל־ H413 to יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 unto the LORD פ

⁷ וַיְהִ֕י H1961 came כִּֽי־ H3588 when זָעֲק֥וּ H2199 cried בְנֵֽי־ H1121 And it came to pass when the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל H3478 of Israel אֶל־ H413 to יְהוָ֑ה H3068 unto the LORD עַ֖ל H5921 on אֹד֥וֹת H182 because מִדְיָֽן׃ H4080 of the Midianites

⁸ וַיִּשְׁלַ֧ח H7971 sent יְהוָ֛ה H3068 That the LORD אִ֥ישׁ H376 a נָבִ֖יא H5030 prophet אֶל־ H413 to בְּנֵ֣י H1121 unto the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 of Israel וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 which said לָהֶ֜ם H0 כֹּה־ H3541 Thus אָמַ֥ר H559 unto them Thus saith יְהוָ֣ה ׀ H3068 the LORD אֱלֹהֵ֣י H430 God יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל H3478 of Israel אָנֹכִ֞י H595 I הֶעֱלֵ֤יתִי H5927 I brought you up אֶתְכֶם֙ H853 מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם H4714 from Egypt וָאֹצִ֥יא H3318 and brought you forth אֶתְכֶ֖ם H853 מִבֵּ֥ית H1004 out of the house עֲבָדִֽים׃ H5650 of bondage

⁹ וָאַצִּ֤ל H5337 And I delivered אֶתְכֶם֙ H853 מִיַּ֣ד H3027 you out of the hand מִצְרַ֔יִם H4713 Egyptian וּמִיַּ֖ד H3027 and out of the hand כָּל־ H3605 of all לֹחֲצֵיכֶ֑ם H3905 of all that oppressed וָאֲגָרֵ֤שׁ H1644 you and drave them out אוֹתָם֙ H853 מִפְּנֵיכֶ֔ם H6440 from before וָאֶתְּנָ֥ה H5414 you and gave לָכֶ֖ם H0 אֶת־ H853 אַרְצָֽם׃ H776 you their land

¹⁰ וָאֹמְרָ֣ה H559 And I said לָכֶ֗ם H0 אֲנִי֙ H589 I am יְהוָ֣ה H3068 unto you I the LORD אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֔ם H430 your God לֹ֤א H3808 shall not תִֽירְאוּ֙ H3372 fear אֶת־ H853 אֱלֹהֵ֣י H430 not the gods הָאֱמֹרִ֔י H567 of the Amorites אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 whose אַתֶּ֖ם H859 you יוֹשְׁבִ֣ים H3427 ye dwell בְּאַרְצָ֑ם H776 in whose land וְלֹ֥א H3808 have not שְׁמַעְתֶּ֖ם H8085 but ye have not obeyed בְּקוֹלִֽי׃ H6963 my voice פ

¹¹ וַיָּבֹ֞א H935 And there came מַלְאַ֣ךְ H4397 an angel יְהוָ֗ה H3068 of the LORD וַיֵּ֙שֶׁב֙ H3427 and sat תַּ֤חַת H8478 under הָֽאֵלָה֙ H424 under an oak אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 which בְּעָפְרָ֔ה H6084 which in Ophrah אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 which לְיוֹאָ֖שׁ H3101 that unto Joash אֲבִ֣י H0 הָֽעֶזְרִ֑י H33 the Abiezrite וְגִדְע֣וֹן H1439 Gideon בְּנ֗וֹ H1121 and his son חֹבֵ֤ט H2251 threshed חִטִּים֙ H2406 wheat בַּגַּ֔ת H1660 by the winepress לְהָנִ֖יס H5127 to hide מִפְּנֵ֥י H6440 from מִדְיָֽן׃ H4080 the Midianites

¹² וַיֵּרָ֥א H7200 appeared אֵלָ֖יו H413 about מַלְאַ֣ךְ H4397 And the angel יְהוָ֑ה H3068 of the LORD וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 unto him and said אֵלָ֔יו H413 to him יְהוָ֥ה H3068 unto him The LORD עִמְּךָ֖ H5973 with גִּבּ֥וֹר H1368 with thee thou mighty הֶחָֽיִל׃ H2428 man of valour

¹³ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 said אֵלָ֤יו H413 then גִּדְעוֹן֙ H1439 And Gideon בִּ֣י H994 unto him Oh אֲדֹנִ֔י H113 my Lord וְיֵ֤שׁ H3426 if יְהוָה֙ H3068 the LORD עִמָּ֔נוּ H5973 us וְלָ֥מָּה H4100 why מְצָאַ֖תְנוּ H4672 be with us why then is all this befallen כָּל־ H3605 has all זֹ֑את H2063 to us וְאַיֵּ֣ה H346 and where כָֽל־ H3605 are all נִפְלְאֹתָ֡יו H6381 us? and where all his miracles אֲשֶׁר֩ H834 which סִפְּרוּ־ H5608 told לָ֨נוּ H0 אֲבוֹתֵ֜ינוּ H1 which our fathers לֵאמֹ֗ר H559 us of saying הֲלֹ֤א H3808 not מִמִּצְרַ֙יִם֙ H4714 Egypt הֶעֱלָ֣נוּ H5927 bring us up יְהוָ֔ה H3068 Did not the LORD וְעַתָּה֙ H6258 henceforth נְטָשָׁ֣נוּ H5203 hath forsaken יְהוָ֔ה H3068 the LORD וַֽיִּתְּנֵ֖נוּ H5414 us and delivered בְּכַף־ H3709 us into the hands מִדְיָֽן׃ H4080 of the Midianites

¹⁴ וַיִּ֤פֶן H6437 looked אֵלָיו֙ H413 about יְהוָ֔ה H3068 And the LORD וַיֹּ֗אמֶר H559 upon him and said לֵ֚ךְ H1980 Go בְּכֹחֲךָ֣ H3581 in this thy might זֶ֔ה H2088 this וְהוֹשַׁעְתָּ֥ H3467 and thou shalt save אֶת־ H853 יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל H3478 Israel מִכַּ֣ף H3709 from the hand מִדְיָ֑ן H4080 of the Midianites הֲלֹ֖א H3808 not שְׁלַחְתִּֽיךָ׃ H7971 have not I sent

¹⁵ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 And he said אֵלָיו֙ H413 to him בִּ֣י H994 unto him Oh אֲדֹנָ֔י H136 my Lord בַּמָּ֥ה H4100 wherewith אוֹשִׁ֖יעַ H3467 shall I save אֶת־ H853 יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 Israel הִנֵּ֤ה H2009 behold אַלְפִּי֙ H504 oxen הַדַּ֣ל H1800 poor בִּמְנַשֶּׁ֔ה H4519 in Manasseh וְאָנֹכִ֥י H595 and I הַצָּעִ֖יר H6810 and I the least בְּבֵ֥ית H1004 house אָבִֽי׃ H1 in my father's

¹⁶ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 said אֵלָיו֙ H413 But יְהוָ֔ה H3068 And the LORD כִּ֥י H3588 Surely אֶהְיֶ֖ה H1961 become עִמָּ֑ךְ H5973 and you וְהִכִּיתָ֥ H5221 unto him Surely I will be with thee and thou shalt smite אֶת־ H853 מִדְיָ֖ן H4080 the Midianites כְּאִ֥ישׁ H376 man אֶחָֽד׃ H259 as one

¹⁷ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 And he said אֵלָ֔יו H413 to him אִם־ H518 If נָ֛א H4994 now מָצָ֥אתִי H4672 unto him If now I have found חֵ֖ן H2580 grace בְּעֵינֶ֑יךָ H5869 in thy sight וְעָשִׂ֤יתָ H6213 then shew לִּי֙ H0 א֔וֹת H226 me a sign שָׁאַתָּ֖ה H859 who מְדַבֵּ֥ר H1696 that thou talkest עִמִּֽי׃ H5973 with

¹⁸ אַל־ H408 nay נָ֨א H4994 Please תָמֻ֤שׁ H4185 Depart מִזֶּה֙ H2088 here עַד־ H5704 until בֹּאִ֣י H935 not hence I pray thee until I come אֵלֶ֔יךָ H413 to וְהֹֽצֵאתִי֙ H3318 unto thee and bring forth אֶת־ H853 מִנְחָתִ֔י H4503 my present וְהִנַּחְתִּ֖י H3240 and set לְפָנֶ֑יךָ H6440 before וַיֹּאמַ֕ר H559 thee And he said אָנֹכִ֥י H595 I אֵשֵׁ֖ב H3427 I will tarry עַ֥ד H5704 until שׁוּבֶֽךָ׃ H7725 until thou come again

¹⁹ וְגִדְע֣וֹן H1439 And Gideon בָּ֗א H935 went in וַיַּ֤עַשׂ H6213 and made ready גְּדִֽי־ H1423 kid עִזִּים֙ H5795 goat וְאֵיפַת־ H374 of an ephah קֶ֣מַח H7058 of flour מַצּ֔וֹת H4682 and unleavened cakes הַבָּשָׂר֙ H1320 the flesh שָׂ֣ם H7760 he put בַּסַּ֔ל H5536 in a basket וְהַמָּרַ֖ק H4839 the broth שָׂ֣ם H7760 and he put בַּפָּר֑וּר H6517 in a pot וַיּוֹצֵ֥א H3318 and brought out אֵלָ֛יו H413 about אֶל־ H413 to תַּ֥חַת H8478 under הָאֵלָ֖ה H424 unto him under the oak וַיַּגַּֽשׁ׃ H5066 and presented ס

²⁰ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 said אֵלָ֜יו H413 about מַלְאַ֣ךְ H4397 And the angel הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים H430 of God קַ֣ח H3947 unto him Take אֶת־ H853 הַבָּשָׂ֤ר H1320 the flesh וְאֶת־ H853 הַמַּצּוֹת֙ H4682 and the unleavened cakes וְהַנַּח֙ H3240 and lay אֶל־ H413 about הַסֶּ֣לַע H5553 rock הַלָּ֔ז H1975 upon this וְאֶת־ H853 הַמָּרַ֖ק H4839 the broth שְׁפ֑וֹךְ H8210 and pour out וַיַּ֖עַשׂ H6213 And he did כֵּֽן׃ H3651 so

²¹ וַיִּשְׁלַ֞ח H7971 put forth מַלְאַ֣ךְ H4397 Then the angel יְהוָ֗ה H3068 of the LORD אֶת־ H853 קְצֵ֤ה H7097 the end הַמִּשְׁעֶ֙נֶת֙ H4938 of the staff אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 that was בְּיָד֔וֹ H3027 that in his hand וַיִּגַּ֥ע H5060 and touched בַּבָּשָׂ֖ר H1320 the flesh וּבַמַּצּ֑וֹת H4682 and the unleavened cakes וַתַּ֨עַל H5927 and there rose up הָאֵ֜שׁ H784 fire מִן־ H4480 from הַצּ֗וּר H6697 out of the rock וַתֹּ֤אכַל H398 and consumed אֶת־ H853 הַבָּשָׂר֙ H1320 the flesh וְאֶת־ H853 הַמַּצּ֔וֹת H4682 and the unleavened cakes וּמַלְאַ֣ךְ H4397 Then the angel יְהוָ֔ה H3068 of the LORD הָלַ֖ךְ H1980 departed מֵעֵינָֽיו׃ H5869 out of his sight

²² וַיַּ֣רְא H7200 perceived גִּדְע֔וֹן H1439 And when Gideon כִּֽי־ H3588 for מַלְאַ֥ךְ H4397 that he an angel יְהוָ֖ה H3068 of the LORD ה֑וּא H1931 he ס וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 said גִּדְע֗וֹן H1439 Gideon אֲהָהּ֙ H162 Alas אֲדֹנָ֣י H136 O Lord יְהוִ֔ה H3069 GOD כִּֽי־ H3588 for עַל־ H5921 for כֵּ֤ן H3651 for because רָאִ֙יתִי֙ H7200 I have seen מַלְאַ֣ךְ H4397 an angel יְהוָ֔ה H3068 of the LORD פָּנִ֖ים H6440 face אֶל־ H413 to פָּנִֽים׃ H6440 to face

²³ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 said ל֧וֹ H0 יְהוָ֛ה H3068 And the LORD שָׁל֥וֹם H7965 unto him Peace לְךָ֖ H0 אַל־ H408 not תִּירָ֑א H3372 unto thee fear לֹ֖א H3808 shall not תָּמֽוּת׃ H4191 not thou shalt not die

²⁴ וַיִּבֶן֩ H1129 built שָׁ֨ם H8033 there גִּדְע֤וֹן H1439 Then Gideon מִזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ H4196 an altar לַֽיהוָ֔ה H3068 there unto the LORD וַיִּקְרָא־ H7121 and called ל֥וֹ H0 יְהוָ֖ה H3068 the LORD שָׁל֑וֹם H7965 is Peace עַ֚ד H5704 against הַיּ֣וֹם H3117 unto this day הַזֶּ֔ה H2088 to this עוֹדֶ֕נּוּ H5750 is still בְּעָפְרָ֖ת H6084 it yet in Ophrah אֲבִ֥י H0 הָעֶזְרִֽי׃ H33 of the Abiezrites פ

²⁵ וַיְהִי֮ H1961 become בַּלַּ֣יְלָה H3915 And it came to pass the same night הַהוּא֒ H1931 the same וַיֹּ֧אמֶר H559 said ל֣וֹ H0 יְהוָ֗ה H3068 that the LORD קַ֤ח H3947 unto him Take אֶת־ H853 פַּר־ H6499 young הַשּׁוֹר֙ H7794 bullock אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 which לְאָבִ֔יךָ H1 thy father's וּפַ֥ר H6499 bullock הַשֵּׁנִ֖י H8145 even the second שֶׁ֣בַע H7651 of seven שָׁנִ֑ים H8141 years old וְהָרַסְתָּ֗ H2040 and throw down אֶת־ H853 מִזְבַּ֤ח H4196 the altar הַבַּ֙עַל֙ H1168 of Baal אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 which לְאָבִ֔יךָ H1 that thy father וְאֶת־ H853 הָאֲשֵׁרָ֥ה H842 the grove אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which עָלָ֖יו H5921 is beside תִּכְרֹֽת׃ H3772 hath and cut down

²⁶ וּבָנִ֨יתָ H1129 And build מִזְבֵּ֜חַ H4196 an altar לַיהוָ֣ה H3068 unto the LORD אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ H430 thy God עַ֣ל H5921 on רֹ֧אשׁ H7218 upon the top הַמָּע֛וֹז H4581 of this rock הַזֶּ֖ה H2088 of this בַּמַּֽעֲרָכָ֑ה H4634 in the ordered place וְלָֽקַחְתָּ֙ H3947 and take אֶת־ H853 הַפָּ֣ר H6499 bullock הַשֵּׁנִ֔י H8145 the second וְהַעֲלִ֣יתָ H5927 and offer עוֹלָ֔ה H5930 a burnt sacrifice בַּעֲצֵ֥י H6086 with the wood הָאֲשֵׁרָ֖ה H842 of the grove אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 which תִּכְרֹֽת׃ H3772 which thou shalt cut down

²⁷ וַיִּקַּ֨ח H3947 took גִּדְע֜וֹן H1439 Then Gideon עֲשָׂרָ֤ה H6235 ten אֲנָשִׁים֙ H376 men מֵֽעֲבָדָ֔יו H5650 of his servants וַיַּ֕עַשׂ H6213 and did כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר H834 and because דִּבֶּ֥ר H1696 had said אֵלָ֖יו H413 as יְהוָ֑ה H3068 as the LORD וַיְהִ֡י H1961 to him כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 and because יָרֵא֩ H3372 unto him and it was because he feared אֶת־ H853 בֵּ֨ית H1004 household אָבִ֜יו H1 his father's וְאֶת־ H853 אַנְשֵׁ֥י H376 and the men הָעִ֛יר H5892 of the city מֵעֲשׂ֥וֹת H6213 that he could not do יוֹמָ֖ם H3119 by day וַיַּ֥עַשׂ H6213 that he did לָֽיְלָה׃ H3915 by night

²⁸ וַיַּשְׁכִּ֜ימוּ H7925 arose early אַנְשֵׁ֤י H376 the men הָעִיר֙ H5892 of the city בַּבֹּ֔קֶר H1242 in the morning וְהִנֵּ֤ה H2009 behold נֻתַּץ֙ H5422 was cast down מִזְבַּ֣ח H4196 behold the altar הַבַּ֔עַל H1168 of Baal וְהָאֲשֵׁרָ֥ה H842 and the grove אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which עָלָ֖יו H5921 was beside כֹּרָ֑תָה H3772 was cut down וְאֵת֙ H853 הַפָּ֣ר H6499 bullock הַשֵּׁנִ֔י H8145 that by it and the second הֹֽעֲלָ֔ה H5927 was offered עַל־ H5921 was beside הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ H4196 upon the altar הַבָּנֽוּי׃ H1129 built

²⁹ וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ H559 And they said אִ֣ישׁ H376 one אֶל־ H413 about רֵעֵ֔הוּ H7453 to another מִ֥י H4310 Who עָשָׂ֖ה H6213 Who hath done הַדָּבָ֣ר H1697 this thing הַזֶּ֑ה H2088 this וַֽיִּדְרְשׁוּ֙ H1875 ask וַיְבַקְשׁ֔וּ H1245 and asked וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ H559 they said גִּדְעוֹן֙ H1439 Gideon בֶּן־ H1121 the son יוֹאָ֔שׁ H3101 of Joash עָשָׂ֖ה H6213 hath done הַדָּבָ֥ר H1697 thing הַזֶּֽה׃ H2088 this

³⁰ וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ H559 said אַנְשֵׁ֤י H376 the men הָעִיר֙ H5892 of the city אֶל־ H413 unto יוֹאָ֔שׁ H3101 unto Joash הוֹצֵ֥א H3318 Bring out אֶת־ H853 בִּנְךָ֖ H1121 thy son וְיָמֹ֑ת H4191 that he may die כִּ֤י H3588 and indeed נָתַץ֙ H5422 because he hath cast down אֶת־ H853 מִזְבַּ֣ח H4196 the altar הַבַּ֔עַל H1168 of Baal וְכִ֥י H3588 and indeed כָרַ֖ת H3772 and because he hath cut down הָאֲשֵׁרָ֥ה H842 the grove אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which עָלָֽיו׃ H5921 was beside

³¹ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 said יוֹאָ֡שׁ H3101 And Joash לְכֹל֩ H3605 to all אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who עָמְד֨וּ H5975 unto all that stood עָלָ֜יו H5921 against הַאַתֶּ֣ם ׀ H859 will you תְּרִיב֣וּן H7378 against him Will ye plead לַבַּ֗עַל H1168 Baal אִם־ H518 or אַתֶּם֙ H859 will you תּוֹשִׁיע֣וּן H3467 deliver אוֹת֔וֹ H853 אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 Whoever יָרִ֥יב H7378 him? he that will plead ל֛וֹ H0 יוּמַ֖ת H4191 for him let him be put to death עַד־ H5704 by הַבֹּ֑קֶר H1242 whilst morning אִם־ H518 If אֱלֹהִ֥ים H430 if he a god הוּא֙ H1931 him יָ֣רֶב H7378 let him plead ל֔וֹ H0 כִּ֥י H3588 because נָתַ֖ץ H5422 for himself because hath cast down אֶֽת־ H853 מִזְבְּחֽוֹ׃ H4196 his altar

³² וַיִּקְרָא־ H7121 he called ל֥וֹ H0 בַיּוֹם־ H3117 Therefore on that day הַה֖וּא H1931 him יְרֻבַּ֣עַל H3378 him Jerubbaal לֵאמֹ֑ר H559 saying יָ֤רֶב H7378 plead בּוֹ֙ H0 הַבַּ֔עַל H1168 Let Baal כִּ֥י H3588 because נָתַ֖ץ H5422 against him because he hath thrown down אֶֽת־ H853 מִזְבְּחֽוֹ׃ H4196 his altar פ

³³ וְכָל־ H3605 all מִדְיָ֧ן H4080 Then all the Midianites וַעֲמָלֵ֛ק H6002 and the Amalekites וּבְנֵי־ H1121 and the children קֶ֖דֶם H6924 of the east נֶאֶסְפ֣וּ H622 were gathered יַחְדָּ֑ו H3162 together וַיַּעַבְר֥וּ H5674 and went over וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ H2583 and pitched בְּעֵ֥מֶק H6010 in the valley יִזְרְעֶֽאל׃ H3157 of Jezreel

³⁴ וְר֣וּחַ H7307 But the Spirit יְהוָ֔ה H3068 of the LORD לָבְשָׁ֖ה H3847 came אֶת־ H853 גִּדְע֑וֹן H1439 upon Gideon וַיִּתְקַע֙ H8628 and he blew בַּשּׁוֹפָ֔ר H7782 a trumpet וַיִּזָּעֵ֥ק H2199 was gathered אֲבִיעֶ֖זֶר H44 and Abiezer אַחֲרָֽיו׃ H310 after

³⁵ וּמַלְאָכִים֙ H4397 messengers שָׁלַ֣ח H7971 And he sent בְּכָל־ H3605 throughout מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה H4519 throughout all Manasseh וַיִּזָּעֵ֥ק H2199 who also was gathered גַּם־ H1571 also ה֖וּא H1931 he אַחֲרָ֑יו H310 after וּמַלְאָכִ֣ים H4397 messengers שָׁלַ֗ח H7971 him and he sent בְּאָשֵׁ֤ר H836 unto Asher וּבִזְבֻלוּן֙ H2074 and unto Zebulun וּבְנַפְתָּלִ֔י H5321 and unto Naphtali וַֽיַּעֲל֖וּ H5927 and they came up לִקְרָאתָֽם׃ H7125 to meet

³⁶ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר H559 said גִּדְע֖וֹן H1439 And Gideon אֶל־ H413 to הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים H430 unto God אִם־ H518 If יֶשְׁךָ֞ H3426 If thou wilt מוֹשִׁ֧יעַ H3467 save בְּיָדִ֛י H3027 by mine hand אֶת־ H853 יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל H3478 Israel כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 you דִּבַּֽרְתָּ׃ H1696 as thou hast said

³⁷ הִנֵּ֣ה H2009 behold אָנֹכִ֗י H595 I מַצִּ֛יג H3322 Behold I will put אֶת־ H853 גִּזַּ֥ת H1492 a fleece הַצֶּ֖מֶר H6785 of wool בַּגֹּ֑רֶן H1637 in the floor אִ֡ם H518 If טַל֩ H2919 if the dew יִהְיֶ֨ה H1961 become עַֽל־ H5921 on הַגִּזָּ֜ה H1492 be on the fleece לְבַדָּ֗הּ H905 only וְעַל־ H5921 on כָּל־ H3605 all הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ H776 upon all the earth חֹ֔רֶב H2721 only and dry וְיָדַעְתִּ֗י H3045 then shall I know כִּֽי־ H3588 that תוֹשִׁ֧יעַ H3467 that thou wilt save בְּיָדִ֛י H3027 by mine hand אֶת־ H853 יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל H3478 Israel כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 you דִּבַּֽרְתָּ׃ H1696 as thou hast said

³⁸ וַיְהִי־ H1961 and it was כֵ֕ן H3651 so וַיַּשְׁכֵּם֙ H7925 And it was so for he rose up early מִֽמָּחֳרָ֔ת H4283 on the morrow וַיָּ֖זַר H2115 together אֶת־ H853 הַגִּזָּ֑ה H1492 the fleece וַיִּ֤מֶץ H4680 and wringed טַל֙ H2919 the dew מִן־ H4480 from הַגִּזָּ֔ה H1492 out of the fleece מְל֥וֹא H4393 full הַסֵּ֖פֶל H5602 a bowl מָֽיִם׃ H4325 of water

³⁹ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 said גִּדְעוֹן֙ H1439 And Gideon אֶל־ H413 to הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים H430 unto God אַל־ H408 nay יִ֤חַר H2734 be hot אַפְּךָ֙ H639 Let not thine anger בִּ֔י H0 וַאֲדַבְּרָ֖ה H1696 against me and I will speak אַ֣ךְ H389 also הַפָּ֑עַם H6471 but this once אֲנַסֶּ֤ה H5254 let me prove נָּא־ H4994 please רַק־ H7535 but הַפַּ֙עַם֙ H6471 I pray thee but this once בַּגִּזָּ֔ה H1492 with the fleece יְהִי־ H1961 become נָ֨א H4994 now חֹ֤רֶב H2721 let it now be dry אֶל־ H413 on הַגִּזָּה֙ H1492 only upon the fleece לְבַדָּ֔הּ H905 only וְעַל־ H5921 on כָּל־ H3605 all הָאָ֖רֶץ H776 and upon all the ground יִֽהְיֶה־ H1961 become טָּֽל׃ H2919 let there be dew

⁴⁰ וַיַּ֧עַשׂ H6213 did אֱלֹהִ֛ים H430 And God כֵּ֖ן H3651 so בַּלַּ֣יְלָה H3915 so that night הַה֑וּא H1931 he וַיְהִי־ H1961 it was חֹ֤רֶב H2721 for it was dry אֶל־ H413 on הַגִּזָּה֙ H1492 upon the fleece לְבַדָּ֔הּ H905 only וְעַל־ H5921 was on כָּל־ H3605 all הָאָ֖רֶץ H776 on all the ground הָ֥יָה H1961 become טָֽל׃ H2919 only and there was dew פ

¹ וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֨ם H7925 that with him rose up early יְרֻבַּ֜עַל H3378 Then Jerubbaal ה֣וּא H1931 he גִדְע֗וֹן H1439 who Gideon וְכָל־ H3605 all manner הָעָם֙ H5971 and all the people אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who אִתּ֔וֹ H854 for וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ H2583 and pitched עַל־ H5921 beside עֵ֣ין H0 חֲרֹ֑ד H5878 beside the well of Harod וּמַחֲנֵ֤ה H4264 so that the host מִדְיָן֙ H4080 of the Midianites הָיָה־ H1961 become ל֣וֹ H0 מִצָּפ֔וֹן H6828 were on the north side מִגִּבְעַ֥ת H1389 of them by the hill הַמּוֹרֶ֖ה H4176 of Moreh בָּעֵֽמֶק׃ H6010 in the valley

² וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 said יְהוָה֙ H3068 And the LORD אֶל־ H413 to גִּדְע֔וֹן H1439 unto Gideon רַ֗ב H7227 that with thee too many הָעָם֙ H5971 The people אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who אִתָּ֔ךְ H854 for מִתִּתִּ֥י H5414 for me to give אֶת־ H853 מִדְיָ֖ן H4080 the Midianites בְּיָדָ֑ם H3027 into their hands פֶּן־ H6435 would יִתְפָּאֵ֨ר H6286 vaunt עָלַ֤י H5921 for יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ H3478 lest Israel לֵאמֹ֔ר H559 themselves against me saying יָדִ֖י H3027 Mine own hand הוֹשִׁ֥יעָה H3467 hath saved לִּֽי׃ H0

³ וְעַתָּ֗ה H6258 henceforth קְרָ֨א H7121 proclaim נָ֜א H4994 Now therefore go to בְּאָזְנֵ֤י H241 in the ears הָעָם֙ H5971 of the people לֵאמֹ֔ר H559 saying מִֽי־ H4310 any יָרֵ֣א H3373 Whosoever fearful וְחָרֵ֔ד H2730 and afraid יָשֹׁ֥ב H7725 let him return וְיִצְפֹּ֖ר H6852 and depart early מֵהַ֣ר H2022 from mount הַגִּלְעָ֑ד H1568 Gilead וַיָּ֣שָׁב H7725 And there returned מִן־ H4480 at הָעָ֗ם H5971 of the people עֶשְׂרִ֤ים H6242 twenty וּשְׁנַ֙יִם֙ H8147 and two אֶ֔לֶף H505 thousand וַעֲשֶׂ֥רֶת H6235 ten אֲלָפִ֖ים H505 thousand נִשְׁאָֽרוּ׃ H7604 and there remained ס

⁵ וַיּ֥וֹרֶד H3381 So he brought down אֶת־ H853 הָעָ֖ם H5971 the people אֶל־ H413 to הַמָּ֑יִם H4325 unto the water ס וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 said יְהוָ֜ה H3068 and the LORD אֶל־ H413 to גִּדְע֗וֹן H1439 unto Gideon כֹּ֣ל H3605 everyone אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who יָלֹק֩ H3952 Every one that lappeth בִּלְשׁוֹנ֨וֹ H3956 with his tongue מִן־ H4480 at הַמַּ֜יִם H4325 of the water כַּאֲשֶׁ֧ר H834 who יָלֹ֣ק H3952 lappeth הַכֶּ֗לֶב H3611 as a dog תַּצִּ֤יג H3322 him shalt thou set אוֹתוֹ֙ H853 לְבָ֔ד H905 shall separate וְכֹ֛ל H3605 everyone אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who יִכְרַ֥ע H3766 by himself likewise every one that boweth down עַל־ H5921 upon בִּרְכָּ֖יו H1290 upon his knees לִשְׁתּֽוֹת׃ H8354 to drink

⁶ וַיְהִ֗י H1961 become מִסְפַּ֞ר H4557 And the number הַֽמֲלַקְקִ֤ים H3952 of them that lapped בְּיָדָם֙ H3027 their hand אֶל־ H413 to פִּיהֶ֔ם H6310 to their mouth שְׁלֹ֥שׁ H7969 were three מֵא֖וֹת H3967 hundred אִ֑ישׁ H376 men וְכֹל֙ H3605 all יֶ֣תֶר H3499 but all the rest הָעָ֔ם H5971 of the people כָּרְע֥וּ H3766 bowed down עַל־ H5921 upon בִּרְכֵיהֶ֖ם H1290 upon their knees לִשְׁתּ֥וֹת H8354 to drink מָֽיִם׃ H4325 water ס

⁷ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 said יְהוָ֜ה H3068 And the LORD אֶל־ H413 unto גִּדְע֗וֹן H1439 unto Gideon בִּשְׁלֹשׁ֩ H7969 By the three מֵא֨וֹת H3967 hundred הָאִ֤ישׁ H376 men הַֽמֲלַקְקִים֙ H3952 that lapped אוֹשִׁ֣יעַ H3467 will I save אֶתְכֶ֔ם H853 וְנָתַתִּ֥י H5414 you and deliver אֶת־ H853 מִדְיָ֖ן H4080 the Midianites בְּיָדֶ֑ךָ H3027 into thine hand וְכָל־ H3605 all הָעָ֔ם H5971 and let all the people יֵלְכ֖וּ H1980 go אִ֥ישׁ H376 every man לִמְקֹמֽוֹ׃ H4725 unto his place

⁸ וַיִּקְח֣וּ H3947 took אֶת־ H853 צֵדָה֩ H6720 victuals הָעָ֨ם H5971 So the people בְּיָדָ֜ם H3027 in their hand וְאֵ֣ת H853 שׁוֹפְרֹֽתֵיהֶ֗ם H7782 and their trumpets וְאֵ֨ת H853 כָּל־ H3605 all manner אִ֤ישׁ H376 all יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ H3478 Israel שִׁלַּח֙ H7971 and he sent אִ֣ישׁ H376 every man לְאֹֽהָלָ֔יו H168 unto his tent וּבִשְׁלֹשׁ־ H7969 those three מֵא֥וֹת H3967 hundred הָאִ֖ישׁ H376 men הֶֽחֱזִ֑יק H2388 and retained וּמַחֲנֵ֣ה H4264 and the host מִדְיָ֔ן H4080 of Midian הָ֥יָה H1961 become ל֖וֹ H0 מִתַּ֥חַת H8478 Thahash בָּעֵֽמֶק׃ H6010 was beneath him in the valley פ

⁹ וַֽיְהִי֙ H1961 came בַּלַּ֣יְלָה H3915 And it came to pass the same night הַה֔וּא H1931 now the same וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 said אֵלָיו֙ H413 about יְהוָ֔ה H3068 that the LORD ק֖וּם H6965 unto him Arise רֵ֣ד H3381 get thee down בַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה H4264 unto the host כִּ֥י H3588 for נְתַתִּ֖יו H5414 for I have delivered בְּיָדֶֽךָ׃ H3027 it into thine hand

¹⁰ וְאִם־ H518 if יָרֵ֥א H3373 But if thou fear אַתָּ֖ה H859 you לָרֶ֑דֶת H3381 to go down רֵ֥ד H3381 down אַתָּ֛ה H859 you וּפֻרָ֥ה H6513 thou with Phurah נַעַרְךָ֖ H5288 thy servant אֶל־ H413 to הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃ H4264 to the host

¹¹ וְשָֽׁמַעְתָּ֙ H8085 And thou shalt hear מַה־ H4100 what יְדַבֵּ֔רוּ H1696 what they say וְאַחַר֙ H310 and afterward תֶּחֱזַ֣קְנָה H2388 be strengthened יָדֶ֔יךָ H3027 shall thine hands וְיָרַדְתָּ֖ H3381 to go down בַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה H4264 unto the host וַיֵּ֤רֶד H3381 Then went he down הוּא֙ H1931 he וּפֻרָ֣ה H6513 with Phurah נַעֲר֔וֹ H5288 his servant אֶל־ H413 to קְצֵ֥ה H7097 unto the outside הַחֲמֻשִׁ֖ים H2571 of the armed men אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 that was בַּֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃ H4264 that in the host

¹² וּמִדְיָ֨ן H4080 And the Midianites וַעֲמָלֵ֤ק H6002 and the Amalekites וְכָל־ H3605 and all בְּנֵי־ H1121 and all the children קֶ֙דֶם֙ H6924 of the east נֹפְלִ֣ים H5307 lay בָּעֵ֔מֶק H6010 along in the valley כָּאַרְבֶּ֖ה H697 like grasshoppers לָרֹ֑ב H7230 for multitude וְלִגְמַלֵּיהֶם֙ H1581 and their camels אֵ֣ין H369 were without מִסְפָּ֔ר H4557 without number כַּח֛וֹל H2344 as the sand שֶׁעַל־ H5921 and שְׂפַ֥ת H8193 side הַיָּ֖ם H3220 by the sea לָרֹֽב׃ H7230 for multitude

¹³ וַיָּבֹ֣א H935 was come גִדְע֔וֹן H1439 And when Gideon וְהִ֨נֵּה־ H2009 behold אִ֔ישׁ H376 behold a man מְסַפֵּ֥ר H5608 that told לְרֵעֵ֖הוּ H7453 unto his fellow חֲל֑וֹם H2472 a dream וַיֹּ֜אמֶר H559 and said הִנֵּ֧ה H2009 Behold חֲל֣וֹם H2472 a dream חָלַ֗מְתִּי H2492 Behold I dreamed וְהִנֵּ֨ה H2009 Behold <צְלֹול כ> (צְלִ֜יל H6742 cake ק) לֶ֤חֶם H3899 bread שְׂעֹרִים֙ H8184 of barley מִתְהַפֵּךְ֙ H2015 tumbled בְּמַחֲנֵ֣ה H4264 into the host מִדְיָ֔ן H4080 of Midian וַיָּבֹ֣א H935 and came עַד־ H5704 against הָ֠אֹהֶל H168 unto a tent וַיַּכֵּ֧הוּ H5221 and smote וַיִּפֹּ֛ל H5307 it that it fell וַיַּהַפְכֵ֥הוּ H2015 and turned לְמַ֖עְלָה H4605 upside וְנָפַ֥ל H5307 lay along הָאֹֽהֶל׃ H168 it that the tent

¹⁴ וַיַּ֨עַן H6030 answered רֵעֵ֤הוּ H7453 And his fellow וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ H559 and said אֵ֣ין H369 is nothing זֹ֔את H2063 likewise בִּלְתִּ֗י H1115 because אִם־ H518 lo חֶ֛רֶב H2719 This nothing else save the sword גִּדְע֥וֹן H1439 of Gideon בֶּן־ H1121 the son יוֹאָ֖שׁ H3101 of Joash אִ֣ישׁ H376 a man יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 of Israel נָתַ֤ן H5414 delivered הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ H430 hath God בְּיָד֔וֹ H3027 into his hand אֶת־ H853 מִדְיָ֖ן H4080 Midian וְאֶת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 and all הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃ H4264 and all the host פ

¹⁵ וַיְהִי֩ H1961 become כִשְׁמֹ֨עַ H8085 heard גִּדְע֜וֹן H1439 And it was when Gideon אֶת־ H853 מִסְפַּ֧ר H4557 the telling הַחֲל֛וֹם H2472 of the dream וְאֶת־ H853 שִׁבְר֖וֹ H7667 and the interpretation וַיִּשְׁתָּ֑חוּ H7812 thereof that he worshipped וַיָּ֙שָׁב֙ H7725 and returned אֶל־ H413 to מַחֲנֵ֣ה H4264 into the host יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 of Israel וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 and said ק֔וּמוּ H6965 Arise כִּֽי־ H3588 for נָתַ֧ן H5414 hath delivered יְהוָ֛ה H3068 for the LORD בְּיֶדְכֶ֖ם H3027 into your hand אֶת־ H853 מַחֲנֵ֥ה H4264 the host מִדְיָֽן׃ H4080 of Midian

¹⁶ וַיַּ֛חַץ H2673 And he divided אֶת־ H853 שְׁלֹשׁ־ H7969 the three מֵא֥וֹת H3967 hundred הָאִ֖ישׁ H376 men שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה H7969 three רָאשִׁ֑ים H7218 companies וַיִּתֵּ֨ן H5414 and he put שׁוֹפָר֤וֹת H7782 a trumpet בְּיַד־ H3027 in every man's hand כֻּלָּם֙ H3605 of all וְכַדִּ֣ים H3537 pitchers רֵקִ֔ים H7386 with empty וְלַפִּדִ֖ים H3940 and lamps בְּת֥וֹךְ H8432 within הַכַּדִּֽים׃ H3537 the pitchers

¹⁷ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 And he said אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם H413 about מִמֶּ֥נִּי H4480 to them תִרְא֖וּ H7200 unto them Look וְכֵ֣ן H3651 likewise תַּעֲשׂ֑וּ H6213 on me and do וְהִנֵּ֨ה H2009 and behold אָנֹכִ֥י H595 I בָא֙ H935 likewise and behold when I come בִּקְצֵ֣ה H7097 to the outside הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה H4264 of the camp וְהָיָ֥ה H1961 become כַאֲשֶׁר־ H834 after אֶעֱשֶׂ֖ה H6213 it shall be as I do כֵּ֥ן H3651 likewise תַּעֲשֽׂוּן׃ H6213 so shall ye do

¹⁸ וְתָקַעְתִּי֙ H8628 When I blow בַּשּׁוֹפָ֔ר H7782 with a trumpet אָנֹכִ֖י H595 I וְכָל־ H3605 and all אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who אִתִּ֑י H854 for וּתְקַעְתֶּ֨ם H8628 I and all that with me then blow בַּשּׁוֹפָר֜וֹת H7782 ye the trumpets גַּם־ H1571 also אַתֶּ֗ם H859 you סְבִיבוֹת֙ H5439 also on every side כָּל־ H3605 all הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה H4264 of all the camp וַאֲמַרְתֶּ֖ם H559 and say לַיהוָ֥ה H3068 of the LORD וּלְגִדְעֽוֹן׃ H1439 and of Gideon פ

¹⁹ וַיָּבֹ֣א H935 that with him came גִ֠דְעוֹן H1439 So Gideon וּמֵאָה־ H3967 and the hundred אִ֨ישׁ H376 men אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who אִתּ֜וֹ H854 for בִּקְצֵ֣ה H7097 unto the outside הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֗ה H4264 of the camp רֹ֚אשׁ H7218 in the beginning הָאַשְׁמֹ֣רֶת H821 watch הַתִּֽיכוֹנָ֔ה H8484 of the middle אַ֛ךְ H389 and they had but הָקֵ֥ם H6965 newly הֵקִ֖ימוּ H6965 set אֶת־ H853 הַשֹּֽׁמְרִ֑ים H8104 the watch וַֽיִּתְקְעוּ֙ H8628 and they blew בַּשּׁ֣וֹפָר֔וֹת H7782 the trumpets וְנָפ֥וֹץ H5310 and brake הַכַּדִּ֖ים H3537 the pitchers אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 who בְּיָדָֽם׃ H3027 that in their hands

²⁰ וַֽ֠יִּתְקְעוּ H8628 blew שְׁלֹ֨שֶׁת H7969 And the three הָרָאשִׁ֥ים H7218 companies בַּשּֽׁוֹפָרוֹת֮ H7782 the trumpets וַיִּשְׁבְּר֣וּ H7665 and brake הַכַּדִּים֒ H3537 the pitchers וַיַּחֲזִ֤יקוּ H2388 and held בְיַד־ H3027 hands שְׂמאוֹלָם֙ H8040 in their left בַּלַּפִּדִ֔ים H3940 the lamps וּבְיַ֨ד־ H3027 hands יְמִינָ֔ם H3225 in their right הַשּׁוֹפָר֖וֹת H7782 and the trumpets לִתְק֑וֹעַ H8628 to blow וַֽיִּקְרְא֔וּ H7121 and they cried חֶ֥רֶב H2719 The sword לַֽיהוָ֖ה H3068 of the LORD וּלְגִדְעֽוֹן׃ H1439 and of Gideon

²¹ וַיַּֽעַמְדוּ֙ H5975 And they stood אִ֣ישׁ H376 every man תַּחְתָּ֔יו H8478 his place סָבִ֖יב H5439 in his place round about לַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה H4264 the camp וַיָּ֧רָץ H7323 ran כָּל־ H3605 and all הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֛ה H4264 and all the host וַיָּרִ֖יעוּ H7321 and cried <וַיָּנִיסוּ כ> (וַיָּנֽוּסוּ׃ H5127 abate ק)

²² וַֽיִּתְקְעוּ֮ H8628 blew שְׁלֹשׁ־ H7969 And the three מֵא֣וֹת H3967 hundred הַשּׁוֹפָרוֹת֒ H7782 the trumpets וַיָּ֣שֶׂם H7760 set יְהוָ֗ה H3068 and the LORD אֵ֣ת H853 חֶ֥רֶב H2719 sword אִ֛ישׁ H376 every man's בְּרֵעֵ֖הוּ H7453 against his fellow וּבְכָל־ H3605 throughout הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה H4264 even throughout all the host וַיָּ֨נָס H5127 fled הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֜ה H4264 and the host עַד־ H5704 far בֵּ֤ית H0 הַשִּׁטָּה֙ H1029 to Bethshittah צְֽרֵרָ֔תָה H6888 in Zererath עַ֛ד H5704 far שְׂפַת־ H8193 to the border אָבֵ֥ל H0 מְחוֹלָ֖ה H65 of Abelmeholah עַל־ H5921 by טַבָּֽת׃ H2888 unto Tabbath

²³ וַיִּצָּעֵ֧ק H6817 gathered themselves together אִֽישׁ־ H376 And the men יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל H3478 of Israel מִנַּפְתָּלִ֥י H5321 out of Naphtali וּמִן־ H4480 at אָשֵׁ֖ר H836 and out of Asher וּמִן־ H4480 at כָּל־ H3605 and all מְנַשֶּׁ֑ה H4519 and out of all Manasseh וַֽיִּרְדְּפ֖וּ H7291 and pursued אַחֲרֵ֥י H310 after מִדְיָֽן׃ H4080 the Midianites

²⁴ וּמַלְאָכִ֡ים H4397 messengers שָׁלַ֣ח H7971 sent גִּדְעוֹן֩ H1439 And Gideon בְּכָל־ H3605 throughout הַ֨ר H2022 throughout all mount אֶפְרַ֜יִם H669 Ephraim לֵאמֹ֗ר H559 saying רְד֞וּ H3381 Come down לִקְרַ֤את H7125 against מִדְיָן֙ H4080 the Midianites וְלִכְד֤וּ H3920 and take לָהֶם֙ H0 אֶת־ H853 הַמַּ֔יִם H4325 before them the waters עַ֛ד H5704 far בֵּ֥ית H0 בָּרָ֖ה H1012 unto Bethbarah וְאֶת־ H853 הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן H3383 and Jordan וַיִּצָּעֵ֞ק H6817 gathered themselves together כָּל־ H3605 all אִ֤ישׁ H376 Then all the men אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ H669 of Ephraim וַיִּלְכְּד֣וּ H3920 and took אֶת־ H853 הַמַּ֔יִם H4325 the waters עַ֛ד H5704 far בֵּ֥ית H0 בָּרָ֖ה H1012 unto Bethbarah וְאֶת־ H853 הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃ H3383 and Jordan

²⁵ וַֽיִּלְכְּד֡וּ H3920 And they took שְׁנֵֽי־ H8147 two שָׂרֵ֨י H8269 princes מִדְיָ֜ן H4080 of the Midianites אֶת־ H853 עֹרֵ֣ב H6159 Oreb וְאֶת־ H853 זְאֵ֗ב H2062 and Zeeb וַיַּהַרְג֨וּ H2026 and they slew אֶת־ H853 עוֹרֵ֤ב H6159 Oreb בְּצוּר־ H6697 upon the rock עוֹרֵב֙ H6159 Oreb וְאֶת־ H853 זְאֵב֙ H2062 and Zeeb הָרְג֣וּ H2026 they slew בְיֶֽקֶב־ H3342 at the winepress זְאֵ֔ב H2062 of Zeeb וַֽיִּרְדְּפ֖וּ H7291 and pursued אֶל־ H413 about מִדְיָ֑ן H4080 Midian וְרֹאשׁ־ H7218 the heads עֹרֵ֣ב H6159 of Oreb וּזְאֵ֔ב H2062 and Zeeb הֵבִ֙יאוּ֙ H935 and brought אֶל־ H413 to גִּדְע֔וֹן H1439 to Gideon מֵעֵ֖בֶר H5676 on the other side לַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃ H3383 Jordan

¹ וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ H559 said אֵלָ֜יו H413 then אִ֣ישׁ H376 And the men אֶפְרַ֗יִם H669 of Ephraim מָֽה־ H4100 unto him Why hast thou הַדָּבָ֤ר H1697 us thus הַזֶּה֙ H2088 is this עָשִׂ֣יתָ H6213 served לָּ֔נוּ H0 לְבִלְתִּי֙ H1115 not קְרֹ֣אות H7121 that thou calledst לָ֔נוּ H0 כִּ֥י H3588 when הָלַ֖כְתָּ H1980 us not when thou wentest לְהִלָּחֵ֣ם H3898 to fight בְּמִדְיָ֑ן H4080 Midian וַיְרִיב֥וּן H7378 adversary אִתּ֖וֹ H854 for בְּחָזְקָֽה׃ H2394 with him sharply

² וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 And he said אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם H413 to מֶה־ H4100 What עָשִׂ֥יתִי H6213 unto them What have I done עַתָּ֖ה H6258 now כָּכֶ֑ם H0 הֲל֗וֹא H3808 not ט֛וֹב H2896 better עֹלְל֥וֹת H5955 now in comparison of you? not the gleaning אֶפְרַ֖יִם H669 of the grapes of Ephraim מִבְצִ֥יר H1210 than the vintage אֲבִיעֶֽזֶר׃ H44 Abiezer

³ בְּיֶדְכֶם֩ H3027 into your hands נָתַ֨ן H5414 hath delivered אֱלֹהִ֜ים H430 God אֶת־ H853 שָׂרֵ֤י H8269 the princes מִדְיָן֙ H4080 of Midian אֶת־ H853 עֹרֵ֣ב H6159 Oreb וְאֶת־ H853 זְאֵ֔ב H2062 and Zeeb וּמַה־ H4100 and what יָּכֹ֖לְתִּי H3201 and what was I able עֲשׂ֣וֹת H6213 to do כָּכֶ֑ם H0 אָ֗ז H227 Then רָפְתָ֤ה H7503 was abated רוּחָם֙ H7307 in comparison of you? Then their anger מֵֽעָלָ֔יו H5921 and בְּדַבְּר֖וֹ H1696 that הַדָּבָ֥ר H1697 toward him when he had said הַזֶּֽה׃ H2088 him

⁴ וַיָּבֹ֥א H935 came גִדְע֖וֹן H1439 And Gideon הַיַּרְדֵּ֑נָה H3383 to Jordan עֹבֵ֣ר H5674 passed over ה֗וּא H1931 he וּשְׁלֹשׁ־ H7969 he and the three מֵא֤וֹת H3967 hundred הָאִישׁ֙ H376 men אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who אִתּ֔וֹ H854 for עֲיֵפִ֖ים H5889 that with him faint וְרֹדְפִֽים׃ H7291 yet pursuing

⁵ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ H559 And he said לְאַנְשֵׁ֣י H582 unto the men סֻכּ֔וֹת H5523 of Succoth תְּנוּ־ H5414 Give נָא֙ H4994 Please כִּכְּר֣וֹת H3603 I pray you loaves לֶ֔חֶם H3899 of bread לָעָ֖ם H5971 unto the people אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who בְּרַגְלָ֑י H7272 that follow כִּי־ H3588 for עֲיֵפִ֣ים H5889 me for they faint הֵ֔ם H1992 like וְאָנֹכִ֗י H595 and I רֹדֵ֛ף H7291 and I am pursuing אַחֲרֵ֛י H310 after זֶ֥בַח H2078 Zebah וְצַלְמֻנָּ֖ע H6759 and Zalmunna מַלְכֵ֥י H4428 kings מִדְיָֽן׃ H4080 of Midian

⁶ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ H559 said שָׂרֵ֣י H8269 And the princes סֻכּ֔וֹת H5523 of Succoth הֲ֠כַף H3709 the hands זֶ֧בַח H2078 of Zebah וְצַלְמֻנָּ֛ע H6759 and Zalmunna עַתָּ֖ה H6258 already בְּיָדֶ֑ךָ H3027 now in thine hand כִּֽי־ H3588 should נִתֵּ֥ן H5414 that we should give לִֽצְבָאֲךָ֖ H6635 appointed time לָֽחֶם׃ H3899 bread

⁷ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 said גִּדְע֔וֹן H1439 And Gideon לָכֵ֗ן H3651 right בְּתֵ֧ת H5414 hath delivered יְהוָ֛ה H3068 Therefore when the LORD אֶת־ H853 זֶ֥בַח H2078 Zebah וְאֶת־ H853 צַלְמֻנָּ֖ע H6759 and Zalmunna בְּיָדִ֑י H3027 into mine hand וְדַשְׁתִּי֙ H1758 then I will tear אֶת־ H853 בְּשַׂרְכֶ֔ם H1320 your flesh אֶת־ H854 with קוֹצֵ֥י H6975 with the thorns הַמִּדְבָּ֖ר H4057 of the wilderness וְאֶת־ H854 and with הַֽבַּרְקֳנִֽים׃ H1303 and with briers

⁸ וַיַּ֤עַל H5927 And he went up מִשָּׁם֙ H8033 there פְּנוּאֵ֔ל H6439 thence to Penuel וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר H1696 and spake אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם H413 unto כָּזֹ֑את H2063 unto them likewise וַיַּעֲנ֤וּ H6030 answered אוֹתוֹ֙ H853 אַנְשֵׁ֣י H376 and the men פְנוּאֵ֔ל H6439 of Penuel כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 after עָנ֖וּ H6030 had answered אַנְשֵׁ֥י H376 as the men סֻכּֽוֹת׃ H5523 of Succoth

⁹ וַיֹּ֛אמֶר H559 And he spake גַּם־ H1571 also לְאַנְשֵׁ֥י H376 to the men פְנוּאֵ֖ל H6439 of Penuel לֵאמֹ֑ר H559 saying בְּשׁוּבִ֣י H7725 When I come again בְשָׁל֔וֹם H7965 in peace אֶתֹּ֖ץ H5422 I will break down אֶת־ H853 הַמִּגְדָּ֥ל H4026 this tower הַזֶּֽה׃ H2088 this פ

¹⁰ וְזֶ֨בַח H2078 Now Zebah וְצַלְמֻנָּ֜ע H6759 and Zalmunna בַּקַּרְקֹ֗ר H7174 in Karkor וּמַחֲנֵיהֶ֤ם H4264 and their hosts עִמָּם֙ H5973 with כַּחֲמֵ֤שֶׁת H2568 fif עָשָׂר֙ H6240 teen אֶ֔לֶף H505 thousand כֹּ֚ל H3605 that הַנּ֣וֹתָרִ֔ים H3498 all that were left מִכֹּ֖ל H3605 of all מַחֲנֵ֣ה H4264 of all the hosts בְנֵי־ H1121 of the children קֶ֑דֶם H6924 of the east וְהַנֹּ֣פְלִ֔ים H5307 for there fell מֵאָ֨ה H3967 an hundred וְעֶשְׂרִ֥ים H6242 and twenty אֶ֛לֶף H505 thousand אִ֖ישׁ H376 men שֹׁ֥לֵֽף H8025 that drew חָֽרֶב׃ H2719 sword

¹¹ וַיַּ֣עַל H5927 went up גִּדְע֗וֹן H1439 And Gideon דֶּ֚רֶךְ H1870 by the way הַשְּׁכוּנֵ֣י H7931 of them that dwelt בָֽאֳהָלִ֔ים H168 in tents מִקֶּ֥דֶם H6924 on the east לְנֹ֖בַח H5025 of Nobah וְיָגְבֳּהָ֑ה H3011 and Jogbehah וַיַּךְ֙ H5221 and smote אֶת־ H853 הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה H4264 the host וְהַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה H4264 for the host הָ֥יָה H1961 become בֶֽטַח׃ H983 was secure

¹² וַיָּנ֗וּסוּ H5127 fled זֶ֚בַח H2078 And when Zebah וְצַלְמֻנָּ֔ע H6759 and Zalmunna וַיִּרְדֹּ֖ף H7291 he pursued אַחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם H310 after וַיִּלְכֹּ֞ד H3920 them and took אֶת־ H853 שְׁנֵ֣י ׀ H8147 the two מַלְכֵ֣י H4428 kings מִדְיָ֗ן H4080 of Midian אֶת־ H853 זֶ֙בַח֙ H2078 Zebah וְאֶת־ H853 צַלְמֻנָּ֔ע H6759 and Zalmunna וְכָל־ H3605 the whole הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה H4264 all the host הֶחֱרִֽיד׃ H2729 and discomfited

¹³ וַיָּ֛שָׁב H7725 returned גִּדְע֥וֹן H1439 And Gideon בֶּן־ H1121 the son יוֹאָ֖שׁ H3101 of Joash מִן־ H4480 from הַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה H4421 from battle מִֽלְמַעֲלֵ֖ה H4608 before הֶחָֽרֶס׃ H2775 the sun

¹⁴ וַיִּלְכָּד־ H3920 And caught נַ֛עַר H5288 a young man מֵאַנְשֵׁ֥י H582 of the men סֻכּ֖וֹת H5523 of Succoth וַיִּשְׁאָלֵ֑הוּ H7592 and enquired וַיִּכְתֹּ֨ב H3789 of him and he described אֵלָ֜יו H413 about אֶת־ H853 שָׂרֵ֤י H8269 unto him the princes סֻכּוֹת֙ H5523 of Succoth וְאֶת־ H853 זְקֵנֶ֔יהָ H2205 and the elders שִׁבְעִ֥ים H7657 seventy-seven וְשִׁבְעָ֖ה H7651 seven אִֽישׁ׃ H376 men

¹⁵ וַיָּבֹא֙ H935 And he came אֶל־ H413 to אַנְשֵׁ֣י H376 the men סֻכּ֔וֹת H5523 of Succoth וַיֹּ֕אמֶר H559 and said הִנֵּ֖ה H2009 Behold זֶ֣בַח H2078 Behold Zebah וְצַלְמֻנָּ֑ע H6759 and Zalmunna אֲשֶׁר֩ H834 whom חֵרַפְתֶּ֨ם H2778 with whom ye did upbraid אוֹתִ֜י H853 לֵאמֹ֗ר H559 me saying הֲ֠כַף H3709 the hands זֶ֣בַח H2078 of Zebah וְצַלְמֻנָּ֤ע H6759 and Zalmunna עַתָּה֙ H6258 already בְּיָדֶ֔ךָ H3027 now in thine hand כִּ֥י H3588 should נִתֵּ֛ן H5414 that we should give לַאֲנָשֶׁ֥יךָ H376 to your men הַיְּעֵפִ֖ים H3286 faint לָֽחֶם׃ H3899 bread

¹⁶ וַיִּקַּח֙ H3947 And he took אֶת־ H853 זִקְנֵ֣י H2205 the elders הָעִ֔יר H5892 of the city וְאֶת־ H853 קוֹצֵ֥י H6975 and thorns הַמִּדְבָּ֖ר H4057 of the wilderness וְאֶת־ H853 הַֽבַּרְקֳנִ֑ים H1303 and briers וַיֹּ֣דַע H3045 and with them he taught בָּהֶ֔ם H0 אֵ֖ת H853 אַנְשֵׁ֥י H376 the men סֻכּֽוֹת׃ H5523 of Succoth

¹⁷ וְאֶת־ H853 מִגְדַּ֥ל H4026 the tower פְּנוּאֵ֖ל H6439 of Penuel נָתָ֑ץ H5422 And he beat down וַֽיַּהֲרֹ֖ג H2026 and slew אֶת־ H853 אַנְשֵׁ֥י H376 the men הָעִֽיר׃ H5892 of the city

¹⁸ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר H559 Then said אֶל־ H413 to זֶ֙בַח֙ H2078 he unto Zebah וְאֶל־ H413 and צַלְמֻנָּ֔ע H6759 and Zalmunna אֵיפֹה֙ H375 What הָאֲנָשִׁ֔ים H376 of men אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 whom הֲרַגְתֶּ֖ם H2026 whom ye slew בְּתָב֑וֹר H8396 destruction וַֽיֹּאמְרוּ֙ H559 said כָּמ֣וֹךָ H3644 As thou כְמוֹהֶ֔ם H3644 were like אֶחָ֕ד H259 so they each one כְּתֹ֖אַר H8389 resembled בְּנֵ֥י H1121 the children הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 of a king

¹⁹ וַיֹּאמַ֕ר H559 And he said אַחַ֥י H251 They my brethren בְּנֵֽי־ H1121 the sons אִמִּ֖י H517 of my mother הֵ֑ם H1992 like חַי־ H2416 liveth יְהוָ֗ה H3068 the LORD ל֚וּ H3863 if הַחֲיִתֶ֣ם H2421 ye had saved them alive אוֹתָ֔ם H853 לֹ֥א H3808 not הָרַ֖גְתִּי H2026 I would not slay אֶתְכֶֽם׃ H853

²⁰ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ H559 And he said לְיֶ֣תֶר H3500 unto Jether בְּכוֹר֔וֹ H1060 his firstborn ק֖וּם H6965 Up הֲרֹ֣ג H2026 slay אוֹתָ֑ם H853 וְלֹא־ H3808 did not שָׁלַ֨ף H8025 drew הַנַּ֤עַר H5288 them But the youth חַרְבּוֹ֙ H2719 not his sword כִּ֣י H3588 because יָרֵ֔א H3372 for he feared כִּ֥י H3588 because עוֹדֶ֖נּוּ H5750 was still נָֽעַר׃ H5288 because he yet a youth

²¹ וַיֹּ֜אמֶר H559 said זֶ֣בַח H2078 Then Zebah וְצַלְמֻנָּ֗ע H6759 and Zalmunna ק֤וּם H6965 Rise אַתָּה֙ H859 yourself וּפְגַע־ H6293 thou and fall בָּ֔נוּ H0 כִּ֥י H3588 for כָאִ֖ישׁ H376 upon us for as the man גְּבוּרָת֑וֹ H1369 his strength וַיָּ֣קָם H6965 arose גִּדְע֗וֹן H1439 And Gideon וַֽיַּהֲרֹג֙ H2026 and slew אֶת־ H853 זֶ֣בַח H2078 Zebah וְאֶת־ H853 צַלְמֻנָּ֔ע H6759 and Zalmunna וַיִּקַּח֙ H3947 and took away אֶת־ H853 הַשַּׂ֣הֲרֹנִ֔ים H7720 the ornaments אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 which בְּצַוְּארֵ֥י H6677 necks גְמַלֵּיהֶֽם׃ H1581 that on their camels'

²² וַיֹּאמְר֤וּ H559 said אִֽישׁ־ H376 Then the men יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ H3478 of Israel אֶל־ H413 to גִּדְע֔וֹן H1439 unto Gideon מְשָׁל־ H4910 Rule בָּ֙נוּ֙ H0 גַּם־ H1571 both אַתָּ֔ה H859 you גַּם־ H1571 also בִּנְךָ֖ H1121 thou over us both thou and thy son גַּ֣ם H1571 both בֶּן־ H1121 and thy son's בְּנֶ֑ךָ H1121 son כִּ֥י H3588 for הוֹשַׁעְתָּ֖נוּ H3467 also for thou hast delivered מִיַּ֥ד H3027 us from the hand מִדְיָֽן׃ H4080 of Midian

²³ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 said אֲלֵהֶם֙ H413 But גִּדְע֔וֹן H1439 And Gideon לֹֽא־ H3808 nor אֶמְשֹׁ֤ל H4910 unto them I will not rule אֲנִי֙ H589 I בָּכֶ֔ם H0 וְלֹֽא־ H3808 nor יִמְשֹׁ֥ל H4910 rule בְּנִ֖י H1121 over you neither shall my son בָּכֶ֑ם H0 יְהוָ֖ה H3068 over you the LORD יִמְשֹׁ֥ל H4910 shall rule בָּכֶֽם׃ H0

²⁴ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 said אֲלֵהֶ֜ם H413 about גִּדְע֗וֹן H1439 And Gideon אֶשְׁאֲלָ֤ה H7592 unto them I would desire מִכֶּם֙ H4480 at שְׁאֵלָ֔ה H7596 a request וּתְנוּ־ H5414 of you that ye would give לִ֕י H0 אִ֖ישׁ H376 me every man נֶ֣זֶם H5141 the earrings שְׁלָל֑וֹ H7998 of his prey כִּֽי־ H3588 because נִזְמֵ֤י H5141 earrings זָהָב֙ H2091 (For they had golden לָהֶ֔ם H0 כִּ֥י H3588 because יִשְׁמְעֵאלִ֖ים H3459 Ishmaelite הֵֽם׃ H1992 They

²⁵ וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ H559 And they answered נָת֣וֹן H5414 We will willingly נִתֵּ֑ן H5414 give וַֽיִּפְרְשׂוּ֙ H6566 And they spread אֶת־ H853 הַשִּׂמְלָ֔ה H8071 a garment וַיַּשְׁלִ֣יכוּ H7993 and did cast שָׁ֔מָּה H8033 there אִ֖ישׁ H376 therein every man נֶ֥זֶם H5141 the earrings שְׁלָלֽוֹ׃ H7998 of his prey

²⁶ וַיְהִ֗י H1961 become מִשְׁקַ֞ל H4948 And the weight נִזְמֵ֤י H5141 earrings הַזָּהָב֙ H2091 of the golden אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 he שָׁאָ֔ל H7592 that he requested אֶ֥לֶף H505 was a thousand וּשְׁבַע־ H7651 and seven מֵא֖וֹת H3967 hundred זָהָ֑ב H2091 of gold לְ֠בַד H905 alone מִן־ H4480 at הַשַּׂהֲרֹנִ֨ים H7720 beside ornaments וְהַנְּטִפ֜וֹת H5188 and collars וּבִגְדֵ֣י H899 raiment הָאַרְגָּמָ֗ן H713 and purple שֶׁעַל֙ H5921 on מַלְכֵ֣י H4428 that on the kings מִדְיָ֔ן H4080 of Midian וּלְבַד֙ H905 alone מִן־ H4480 at הָ֣עֲנָק֔וֹת H6060 and beside the chains אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 after בְּצַוְּארֵ֥י H6677 necks גְמַלֵּיהֶֽם׃ H1581 that about their camels'

²⁷ וַיַּעַשׂ֩ H6213 made אוֹת֨וֹ H853 גִדְע֜וֹן H1439 And Gideon לְאֵפ֗וֹד H646 an ephod וַיַּצֵּ֨ג H3322 thereof and put אוֹת֤וֹ H853 בְעִירוֹ֙ H5892 it in his city בְּעָפְרָ֔ה H6084 in Ophrah וַיִּזְנ֧וּ H2181 went thither a whoring כָֽל־ H3605 and all יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל H3478 and all Israel אַחֲרָ֖יו H310 after שָׁ֑ם H8033 there וַיְהִ֛י H1961 became לְגִדְע֥וֹן H1439 unto Gideon וּלְבֵית֖וֹ H1004 and to his house לְמוֹקֵֽשׁ׃ H4170 it which thing became a snare

²⁸ וַיִּכָּנַ֣ע H3665 subdued מִדְיָ֗ן H4080 Thus was Midian לִפְנֵי֙ H6440 before בְּנֵ֣י H1121 the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 of Israel וְלֹ֥א H3808 not יָסְפ֖וּ H3254 no more לָשֵׂ֣את H5375 so that they lifted up רֹאשָׁ֑ם H7218 their heads וַתִּשְׁקֹ֥ט H8252 was in quietness הָאָ֛רֶץ H776 And the country אַרְבָּעִ֥ים H705 forty שָׁנָ֖ה H8141 years בִּימֵ֥י H3117 in the days גִדְעֽוֹן׃ H1439 of Gideon פ

²⁹ וַיֵּ֛לֶךְ H1980 went יְרֻבַּ֥עַל H3378 And Jerubbaal בֶּן־ H1121 the son יוֹאָ֖שׁ H3101 of Joash וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב H3427 and dwelt בְּבֵיתֽוֹ׃ H1004 in his own house

³⁰ וּלְגִדְע֗וֹן H1439 And Gideon הָיוּ֙ H1961 had שִׁבְעִ֣ים H7657 had threescore and ten בָּנִ֔ים H1121 sons יֹצְאֵ֖י H3318 begotten יְרֵכ֑וֹ H3409 of his body כִּֽי־ H3588 for נָשִׁ֥ים H802 wives רַבּ֖וֹת H7227 for he had many הָ֥יוּ H1961 had לֽוֹ׃ H0

³¹ וּפִֽילַגְשׁוֹ֙ H6370 And his concubine אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who בִּשְׁכֶ֔ם H7927 that in Shechem יָֽלְדָה־ H3205 she also bare לּ֥וֹ H0 גַם־ H1571 also הִ֖יא H1931 him בֵּ֑ן H1121 him a son וַיָּ֥שֶׂם H7760 he called אֶת־ H853 שְׁמ֖וֹ H8034 whose name אֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃ H40 Abimelech

³² וַיָּ֛מָת H4191 died גִּדְע֥וֹן H1439 And Gideon בֶּן־ H1121 the son יוֹאָ֖שׁ H3101 of Joash בְּשֵׂיבָ֣ה H7872 old age טוֹבָ֑ה H2896 in a good וַיִּקָּבֵ֗ר H6912 and was buried בְּקֶ֙בֶר֙ H6913 in the sepulchre יוֹאָ֣שׁ H3101 of Joash אָבִ֔יו H1 his father בְּעָפְרָ֖ה H6084 in Ophrah אֲבִ֥י H0 הָֽעֶזְרִֽי׃ H33 of the Abiezrites פ

³³ וַיְהִ֗י H1961 came כַּֽאֲשֶׁר֙ H834 after מֵ֣ת H4191 was dead גִּדְע֔וֹן H1439 And it came to pass as soon as Gideon וַיָּשׁ֙וּבוּ֙ H7725 turned again בְּנֵ֣י H1121 that the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 of Israel וַיִּזְנ֖וּ H2181 and went a whoring אַחֲרֵ֣י H310 after הַבְּעָלִ֑ים H1168 Baalim וַיָּשִׂ֧ימוּ H7760 and made לָהֶ֛ם H0 בַּ֥עַל H0 בְּרִ֖ית H1170 Baalberith לֵאלֹהִֽים׃ H430 their god

³⁴ וְלֹ֤א H3808 did not זָֽכְרוּ֙ H2142 remembered בְּנֵ֣י H1121 And the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 of Israel אֶת־ H853 יְהוָ֖ה H3068 not the LORD אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם H430 their God הַמַּצִּ֥יל H5337 who had delivered אוֹתָ֛ם H853 מִיַּ֥ד H3027 them out of the hands כָּל־ H3605 of all אֹיְבֵיהֶ֖ם H341 of all their enemies מִסָּבִֽיב׃ H5439 on every side

³⁵ וְלֹֽא־ H3808 nor עָשׂ֣וּ H6213 Neither shewed חֶ֔סֶד H2617 they kindness עִם־ H5973 with בֵּ֥ית H1004 to the house יְרֻבַּ֖עַל H3378 of Jerubbaal גִּדְע֑וֹן H1439 Gideon כְּכָל־ H3605 to all הַטּוֹבָ֔ה H2896 according to all the goodness אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 he עָשָׂ֖ה H6213 which he had shewed עִם־ H5973 with יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ H3478 unto Israel פ

¹ וַיֵּ֨לֶךְ H1980 went אֲבִימֶ֤לֶךְ H40 And Abimelech בֶּן־ H1121 the son יְרֻבַּ֙עַל֙ H3378 of Jerubbaal שְׁכֶ֔מָה H7927 to Shechem אֶל־ H413 about אֲחֵ֖י H251 brethren אִמּ֑וֹ H517 unto his mother's וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר H1696 and communed אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם H413 about וְאֶל־ H413 to כָּל־ H3605 the whole מִשְׁפַּ֛חַת H4940 with them and with all the family בֵּית־ H1004 of the house אֲבִ֥י H1 father אִמּ֖וֹ H517 of his mother's לֵאמֹֽר׃ H559 saying

² דַּבְּרוּ־ H1696 Speak נָ֞א H4994 now בְּאָזְנֵ֨י H241 I pray you in the ears כָל־ H3605 of all בַּעֲלֵ֣י H1167 of all the men שְׁכֶם֮ H7927 of Shechem מַה־ H4100 Which טּ֣וֹב H2896 Whether better לָכֶם֒ H0 הַמְשֹׁ֨ל H4910 reign בָּכֶ֜ם H0 שִׁבְעִ֣ים H7657 threescore and ten אִ֗ישׁ H376 persons כֹּ֚ל H3605 all בְּנֵ֣י H1121 for you either that all the sons יְרֻבַּ֔עַל H3378 of Jerubbaal אִם־ H518 or מְשֹׁ֥ל H4910 reign בָּכֶ֖ם H0 אִ֣ישׁ H376 man אֶחָ֑ד H259 over you or that one וּזְכַרְתֶּ֕ם H2142 over you? remember כִּֽי־ H3588 that עַצְמֵכֶ֥ם H6106 also that I your bone וּבְשַׂרְכֶ֖ם H1320 and your flesh אָנִֽי׃ H589 I

³ וַיְדַבְּר֨וּ H1696 spake אֲחֵֽי־ H251 brethren אִמּ֜וֹ H517 And his mother's עָלָ֗יו H5921 his behalf בְּאָזְנֵי֙ H241 of him in the ears כָּל־ H3605 all בַּעֲלֵ֣י H1167 of all the men שְׁכֶ֔ם H7927 of Shechem אֵ֥ת H853 כָּל־ H3605 of all הַדְּבָרִ֖ים H1697 all these words הָאֵ֑לֶּה H428 these וַיֵּ֤ט H5186 inclined לִבָּם֙ H3820 and their hearts אַחֲרֵ֣י H310 to follow אֲבִימֶ֔לֶךְ H40 Abimelech כִּ֥י H3588 for אָמְר֖וּ H559 for they said אָחִ֥ינוּ H251 He our brother הֽוּא׃ H1931 They

⁴ וַיִּתְּנוּ־ H5414 And they gave לוֹ֙ H0 שִׁבְעִ֣ים H7657 him threescore and ten כֶּ֔סֶף H3701 of silver מִבֵּ֖ית H1004 out of the house בַּ֣עַל H0 בְּרִ֑ית H1170 of Baalberith וַיִּשְׂכֹּ֨ר H7936 hired בָּהֶ֜ם H0 אֲבִימֶ֗לֶךְ H40 wherewith Abimelech אֲנָשִׁ֤ים H582 persons רֵיקִים֙ H7386 vain וּפֹ֣חֲזִ֔ים H6348 and light וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ H1980 along אַחֲרָֽיו׃ H310 him

⁵ וַיָּבֹ֤א H935 And he went בֵית־ H1004 house אָבִיו֙ H1 unto his father's עָפְרָ֔תָה H6084 at Ophrah וַֽיַּהֲרֹ֞ג H2026 and slew אֶת־ H853 אֶחָ֧יו H251 his brethren בְּנֵֽי־ H1121 the sons יְרֻבַּ֛עַל H3378 of Jerubbaal שִׁבְעִ֥ים H7657 threescore and ten אִ֖ישׁ H376 persons עַל־ H5921 and אֶ֣בֶן H68 stone אֶחָ֑ת H259 upon one וַיִּוָּתֵ֞ר H3498 was left יוֹתָ֧ם H3147 notwithstanding yet Jotham בֶּן־ H1121 son יְרֻבַּ֛עַל H3378 of Jerubbaal הַקָּטֹ֖ן H6996 the youngest כִּ֥י H3588 for נֶחְבָּֽא׃ H2244 for he hid ס

⁶ וַיֵּאָ֨סְפ֜וּ H622 gathered together כָּל־ H3605 All בַּעֲלֵ֤י H1167 And all the men שְׁכֶם֙ H7927 of Shechem וְכָל־ H3605 and all בֵּ֣ית H1004 and all the house מִלּ֔וֹא H4407 Millo וַיֵּ֣לְכ֔וּ H1980 went וַיַּמְלִ֥יכוּ H4427 and made אֶת־ H853 אֲבִימֶ֖לֶךְ H40 Abimelech לְמֶ֑לֶךְ H4428 king עִם־ H5973 by אֵל֥וֹן H436 by the plain מֻצָּ֖ב H5324 of the pillar אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 which בִּשְׁכֶֽם׃ H7927 that in Shechem

⁷ וַיַּגִּ֣דוּ H5046 And when they told לְיוֹתָ֗ם H3147 to Jotham וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ H1980 went וַֽיַּעֲמֹד֙ H5975 and stood בְּרֹ֣אשׁ H7218 in the top הַר־ H2022 of mount גְּרִזִ֔ים H1630 Gerizim וַיִּשָּׂ֥א H5375 and lifted up קוֹל֖וֹ H6963 his voice וַיִּקְרָ֑א H7121 and cried וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 and said לָהֶ֗ם H0 שִׁמְע֤וּ H8085 unto them Hearken אֵלַי֙ H413 to me בַּעֲלֵ֣י H1167 unto me ye men שְׁכֶ֔ם H7927 of Shechem וְיִשְׁמַ֥ע H8085 may hearken אֲלֵיכֶ֖ם H413 about אֱלֹהִֽים׃ H430 that God

⁸ הָל֤וֹךְ H1980 Once הָֽלְכוּ֙ H1980 went הָעֵצִ֔ים H6086 The trees לִמְשֹׁ֥חַ H4886 to anoint עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם H5921 over מֶ֑לֶךְ H4428 a king וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ H559 over them and they said לַזַּ֖יִת H2132 unto the olive tree <מְלֹוכָה כ> (מָלְכָ֥ה H4427 consult ק) עָלֵֽינוּ׃ H5921 over

⁹ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 said לָהֶם֙ H0 הַזַּ֔יִת H2132 But the olive tree הֶחֳדַ֙לְתִּי֙ H2308 unto them Should I leave אֶת־ H853 דִּשְׁנִ֔י H1880 my fatness אֲשֶׁר־ H834 which בִּ֛י H0 יְכַבְּד֥וּ H3513 wherewith by me they honour אֱלֹהִ֖ים H430 God וַאֲנָשִׁ֑ים H376 and men וְהָ֣לַכְתִּ֔י H1980 and go לָנ֖וּעַ H5128 to be promoted עַל־ H5921 over הָעֵצִֽים׃ H6086 carpenter

¹⁰ וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ H559 said הָעֵצִ֖ים H6086 And the trees לַתְּאֵנָ֑ה H8384 to the fig tree לְכִי־ H1980 come אַ֖תְּ H859 you מָלְכִ֥י H4427 thou reign עָלֵֽינוּ׃ H5921 over

¹¹ וַתֹּ֤אמֶר H559 said לָהֶם֙ H0 הַתְּאֵנָ֔ה H8384 But the fig tree הֶחֳדַ֙לְתִּי֙ H2308 unto them Should I forsake אֶת־ H853 מָתְקִ֔י H4987 my sweetness וְאֶת־ H853 תְּנוּבָתִ֖י H8570 fruit הַטּוֹבָ֑ה H2896 and my good וְהָ֣לַכְתִּ֔י H1980 and go לָנ֖וּעַ H5128 to be promoted עַל־ H5921 over הָעֵצִֽים׃ H6086 carpenter

¹² וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ H559 Then said הָעֵצִ֖ים H6086 the trees לַגָּ֑פֶן H1612 unto the vine לְכִי־ H1980 come אַ֖תְּ H859 you <מָלֹוכִי כ> (מָלְכִ֥י H4427 consult ק) עָלֵֽינוּ׃ H5921 over

¹³ וַתֹּ֤אמֶר H559 said לָהֶם֙ H0 הַגֶּ֔פֶן H1612 And the vine הֶחֳדַ֙לְתִּי֙ H2308 unto them Should I leave אֶת־ H853 תִּ֣ירוֹשִׁ֔י H8492 my wine הַֽמְשַׂמֵּ֥חַ H8055 which cheereth אֱלֹהִ֖ים H430 God וַאֲנָשִׁ֑ים H376 and men וְהָ֣לַכְתִּ֔י H1980 and go לָנ֖וּעַ H5128 to be promoted עַל־ H5921 over הָעֵצִֽים׃ H6086 carpenter

¹⁴ וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ H559 Then said כָל־ H3605 all הָעֵצִ֖ים H6086 all the trees אֶל־ H413 to הָאָטָ֑ד H329 unto the bramble לֵ֥ךְ H1980 come אַתָּ֖ה H859 you מְלָךְ־ H4427 thou reign עָלֵֽינוּ׃ H5921 over

¹⁵ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 said הָאָטָד֮ H329 And the bramble אֶל־ H413 to הָעֵצִים֒ H6086 unto the trees אִ֡ם H518 If בֶּאֱמֶ֣ת H571 If in truth אַתֶּם֩ H859 you מֹשְׁחִ֨ים H4886 ye anoint אֹתִ֤י H853 לְמֶ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 me king עֲלֵיכֶ֔ם H5921 over בֹּ֖אוּ H935 over you come חֲס֣וּ H2620 put your trust בְצִלִּ֑י H6738 in my shadow וְאִם־ H518 if אַ֕יִן H369 else תֵּ֤צֵא H3318 come out אֵשׁ֙ H784 and if not let fire מִן־ H4480 from הָ֣אָטָ֔ד H329 of the bramble וְתֹאכַ֖ל H398 and devour אֶת־ H853 אַרְזֵ֥י H730 the cedars הַלְּבָנֽוֹן׃ H3844 of Lebanon

¹⁶ וְעַתָּ֗ה H6258 Now אִם־ H518 if בֶּאֱמֶ֤ת H571 truly וּבְתָמִים֙ H8549 and sincerely עֲשִׂיתֶ֔ם H6213 Now therefore if ye have done וַתַּמְלִ֖יכוּ H4427 king אֶת־ H853 אֲבִימֶ֑לֶךְ H40 in that ye have made Abimelech וְאִם־ H518 and if טוֹבָ֤ה H2895 be better עֲשִׂיתֶם֙ H6213 and if ye have dealt עִם־ H5973 with יְרֻבַּ֣עַל H3378 with Jerubbaal וְעִם־ H5973 with בֵּית֔וֹ H1004 and his house וְאִם־ H518 if כִּגְמ֥וּל H1576 unto him according to the deserving יָדָ֖יו H3027 of his hands עֲשִׂ֥יתֶם H6213 and have done לֽוֹ׃ H0

¹⁷ אֲשֶׁר־ H834 after נִלְחַ֥ם H3898 fought אָבִ֖י H1 (For my father עֲלֵיכֶ֑ם H5921 and וַיַּשְׁלֵ֤ךְ H7993 for you and adventured אֶת־ H853 נַפְשׁוֹ֙ H5315 his life מִנֶּ֔גֶד H5048 far וַיַּצֵּ֥ל H5337 and delivered אֶתְכֶ֖ם H853 מִיַּ֥ד H3027 you out of the hand מִדְיָֽן׃ H4080 of Midian

¹⁸ וְאַתֶּ֞ם H859 you קַמְתֶּ֨ם H6965 And ye are risen up עַל־ H5921 against בֵּ֤ית H1004 house אָבִי֙ H1 against my father's הַיּ֔וֹם H3117 this day וַתַּהַרְג֧וּ H2026 and have slain אֶת־ H853 בָּנָ֛יו H1121 his sons שִׁבְעִ֥ים H7657 threescore and ten אִ֖ישׁ H376 persons עַל־ H5921 over אֶ֣בֶן H68 stone אֶחָ֑ת H259 upon one וַתַּמְלִ֜יכוּ H4427 king אֶת־ H853 אֲבִימֶ֤לֶךְ H40 and have made Abimelech בֶּן־ H1121 the son אֲמָתוֹ֙ H519 of his maidservant עַל־ H5921 over בַּעֲלֵ֣י H1167 over the men שְׁכֶ֔ם H7927 of Shechem כִּ֥י H3588 because אֲחִיכֶ֖ם H251 is your relative הֽוּא׃ H1931 he

¹⁹ וְאִם־ H518 if בֶּאֱמֶ֨ת H571 truly וּבְתָמִ֧ים H8549 and sincerely עֲשִׂיתֶ֛ם H6213 If ye then have dealt עִם־ H5973 with יְרֻבַּ֥עַל H3378 with Jerubbaal וְעִם־ H5973 with בֵּית֖וֹ H1004 and with his house הַיּ֣וֹם H3117 this day הַזֶּ֑ה H2088 this שִׂמְחוּ֙ H8055 rejoice בַּאֲבִימֶ֔לֶךְ H40 ye in Abimelech וְיִשְׂמַ֥ח H8055 and let him also rejoice גַּם־ H1571 also ה֖וּא H1931 he בָּכֶֽם׃ H0

²⁰ וְאִם־ H518 if אַ֕יִן H369 else תֵּ֤צֵא H3318 come out אֵשׁ֙ H784 But if not let fire מֵאֲבִימֶ֔לֶךְ H40 from Abimelech וְתֹאכַ֛ל H398 and devour אֶת־ H853 בַּעֲלֵ֥י H1167 the men שְׁכֶ֖ם H7927 of Shechem וְאֶת־ H853 בֵּ֣ית H1004 and the house מִלּ֑וֹא H4407 Millo וְתֵצֵ֨א H3318 come out אֵ֜שׁ H784 and let fire מִבַּעֲלֵ֤י H1167 from the men שְׁכֶם֙ H7927 of Shechem וּמִבֵּ֣ית H1004 and from the house מִלּ֔וֹא H4407 Millo וְתֹאכַ֖ל H398 and devour אֶת־ H853 אֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃ H40 Abimelech

²¹ וַיָּ֣נָס H5127 and fled יוֹתָ֔ם H3147 And Jotham וַיִּבְרַ֖ח H1272 ran away וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ H1980 and went בְּאֵ֑רָה H876 to Beer וַיֵּ֣שֶׁב H3427 and dwelt שָׁ֔ם H8033 there מִפְּנֵ֖י H6440 there for fear אֲבִימֶ֥לֶךְ H40 of Abimelech אָחִֽיו׃ H251 his brother פ

²² וַיָּ֧שַׂר H7786 had reigned אֲבִימֶ֛לֶךְ H40 When Abimelech עַל־ H5921 over יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל H3478 over Israel שָׁלֹ֥שׁ H7969 three שָׁנִֽים׃ H8141 years

²³ וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח H7971 sent אֱלֹהִים֙ H430 Then God ר֣וּחַ H7307 spirit רָעָ֔ה H7451 an evil בֵּ֣ין H996 between אֲבִימֶ֔לֶךְ H40 between Abimelech וּבֵ֖ין H996 between בַּעֲלֵ֣י H1167 and the men שְׁכֶ֑ם H7927 of Shechem וַיִּבְגְּד֥וּ H898 dealt treacherously בַעֲלֵי־ H1167 and the men שְׁכֶ֖ם H7927 of Shechem בַּאֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃ H40 with Abimelech

²⁴ לָב֕וֹא H935 might come חֲמַ֖ס H2555 That the cruelty שִׁבְעִ֣ים H7657 to the threescore and ten בְּנֵֽי־ H1121 sons יְרֻבָּ֑עַל H3378 of Jerubbaal וְדָמָ֗ם H1818 and their blood לָשׂ֞וּם H7760 be laid עַל־ H5921 on אֲבִימֶ֤לֶךְ H40 upon Abimelech אֲחִיהֶם֙ H251 their brother אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who הָרַ֣ג H2026 which slew אוֹתָ֔ם H853 וְעַל֙ H5921 and on בַּעֲלֵ֣י H1167 them and upon the men שְׁכֶ֔ם H7927 of Shechem אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who חִזְּק֥וּ H2388 strengthened אֶת־ H853 יָדָ֖יו H3027 his hands לַהֲרֹ֥ג H2026 him in the killing אֶת־ H853 אֶחָֽיו׃ H251 of his brethren

²⁵ וַיָּשִׂ֣ימוּ H7760 set לוֹ֩ H0 בַעֲלֵ֨י H1167 And the men שְׁכֶ֜ם H7927 of Shechem מְאָרְבִ֗ים H693 liers in wait עַ֚ל H5921 on רָאשֵׁ֣י H7218 for him in the top הֶהָרִ֔ים H2022 of the mountains וַיִּגְזְל֗וּ H1497 and they robbed אֵ֛ת H853 כָּל־ H3605 all אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who יַעֲבֹ֥ר H5674 all that came עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם H5921 along בַּדָּ֑רֶךְ H1870 along that way וַיֻּגַּ֖ד H5046 by them and it was told לַאֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃ H40 Abimelech פ

²⁶ וַיָּבֹ֞א H935 came גַּ֤עַל H1603 And Gaal בֶּן־ H1121 the son עֶ֙בֶד֙ H5651 of Ebed וְאֶחָ֔יו H251 with his brethren וַיַּעַבְר֖וּ H5674 and went over בִּשְׁכֶ֑ם H7927 to Shechem וַיִּבְטְחוּ־ H982 put their confidence ב֖וֹ H0 בַּעֲלֵ֥י H1167 and the men שְׁכֶֽם׃ H7927 of Shechem

²⁷ וַיֵּצְא֨וּ H3318 And they went out הַשָּׂדֶ֜ה H7704 into the fields וַֽיִּבְצְר֤וּ H1219 and gathered אֶת־ H853 כַּרְמֵיהֶם֙ H3754 their vineyards וַֽיִּדְרְכ֔וּ H1869 and trode וַֽיַּעֲשׂ֖וּ H6213 and made הִלּוּלִ֑ים H1974 merry וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ H935 and went בֵּ֣ית H1004 into the house אֱ‍ֽלֹֽהֵיהֶ֔ם H430 of their god וַיֹּֽאכְלוּ֙ H398 and did eat וַיִּשְׁתּ֔וּ H8354 and drink וַֽיְקַלְל֖וּ H7043 and cursed אֶת־ H853 אֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃ H40 Abimelech

²⁸ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ׀ H559 said גַּ֣עַל H1603 And Gaal בֶּן־ H1121 the son עֶ֗בֶד H5651 of Ebed מִֽי־ H4310 Who אֲבִימֶ֤לֶךְ H40 Who Abimelech וּמִֽי־ H4310 and who שְׁכֶם֙ H7927 and who Shechem כִּ֣י H3588 should נַעַבְדֶ֔נּוּ H5647 that we should serve הֲלֹ֥א H3808 not בֶן־ H1121 him? not the son יְרֻבַּ֖עַל H3378 of Jerubbaal וּזְבֻ֣ל H2083 and Zebul פְּקִיד֑וֹ H6496 which had the charge עִבְד֗וּ H5647 for why should we serve אֶת־ H853 אַנְשֵׁ֤י H376 the men חֲמוֹר֙ H2544 of Hamor אֲבִ֣י H1 the father שְׁכֶ֔ם H7927 of Shechem וּמַדּ֖וּעַ H4069 why נַעַבְדֶ֥נּוּ H5647 serve אֲנָֽחְנוּ׃ H587 ourselves

²⁹ וּמִ֨י H4310 any יִתֵּ֜ן H5414 were under אֶת־ H853 הָעָ֤ם H5971 And would to God this people הַזֶּה֙ H2088 this בְּיָדִ֔י H3027 my hand וְאָסִ֖ירָה H5493 then would I remove אֶת־ H853 אֲבִימֶ֑לֶךְ H40 Abimelech וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ H559 And he said לַאֲבִימֶ֔לֶךְ H40 to Abimelech רַבֶּ֥ה H7235 Increase צְבָאֲךָ֖ H6635 thine army וָצֵֽאָה׃ H3318 and come out

³⁰ וַיִּשְׁמַ֗ע H8085 heard זְבֻל֙ H2083 And when Zebul שַׂר־ H8269 the ruler הָעִ֔יר H5892 of the city אֶת־ H853 דִּבְרֵ֖י H1697 the words גַּ֣עַל H1603 of Gaal בֶּן־ H1121 the son עָ֑בֶד H5651 of Ebed וַיִּ֖חַר H2734 was kindled אַפּֽוֹ׃ H639 his anger

³¹ וַיִּשְׁלַ֧ח H7971 And he sent מַלְאָכִ֛ים H4397 messengers אֶל־ H413 to אֲבִימֶ֖לֶךְ H40 unto Abimelech בְּתָרְמָ֣ה H8649 privily לֵאמֹ֑ר H559 saying הִנֵּה֩ H2009 Behold גַ֨עַל H1603 Behold Gaal בֶּן־ H1121 the son עֶ֤בֶד H5651 of Ebed וְאֶחָיו֙ H251 and his brethren בָּאִ֣ים H935 be come שְׁכֶ֔מָה H7927 to Shechem וְהִנָּ֛ם H2009 and behold צָרִ֥ים H6696 and behold they fortify אֶת־ H853 הָעִ֖יר H5892 the city עָלֶֽיךָ׃ H5921 against

³² וְעַתָּה֙ H6258 Now ק֣וּם H6965 Now therefore up לַ֔יְלָה H3915 by night אַתָּ֖ה H859 you וְהָעָ֣ם H5971 thou and the people אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who אִתָּ֑ךְ H854 for וֶאֱרֹ֖ב H693 that with thee and lie in wait בַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃ H7704 in the field

³³ וְהָיָ֤ה H1961 become בַבֹּ֙קֶר֙ H1242 And it shall be in the morning כִּזְרֹ֣חַ H2224 is up הַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ H8121 as soon as the sun תַּשְׁכִּ֖ים H7925 thou shalt rise early וּפָשַׁטְתָּ֣ H6584 and set עַל־ H5921 upon הָעִ֑יר H5892 upon the city וְהִנֵּה־ H2009 and behold ה֞וּא H1931 he וְהָעָ֤ם H5971 and behold he and the people אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who אִתּוֹ֙ H854 for יֹצְאִ֣ים H3318 that with him come out אֵלֶ֔יךָ H413 against וְעָשִׂ֣יתָ H6213 against thee then mayest thou do לּ֔וֹ H0 כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 who תִּמְצָ֥א H4672 shalt find occasion יָדֶֽךָ׃ H3027 to them as thou ס

³⁴ וַיָּ֧קָם H6965 rose up אֲבִימֶ֛לֶךְ H40 And Abimelech וְכָל־ H3605 and all הָעָ֥ם H5971 and all the people אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who עִמּ֖וֹ H5973 by לָ֑יְלָה H3915 that with him by night וַיֶּאֶרְב֣וּ H693 and they laid wait עַל־ H5921 against שְׁכֶ֔ם H7927 against Shechem אַרְבָּעָ֖ה H702 in four רָאשִֽׁים׃ H7218 companies

³⁵ וַיֵּצֵא֙ H3318 went out גַּ֣עַל H1603 And Gaal בֶּן־ H1121 the son עֶ֔בֶד H5651 of Ebed וַיַּעֲמֹ֕ד H5975 and stood פֶּ֖תַח H6607 in the entering שַׁ֣עַר H8179 of the gate הָעִ֑יר H5892 of the city וַיָּ֧קָם H6965 rose up אֲבִימֶ֛לֶךְ H40 and Abimelech וְהָעָ֥ם H5971 and the people אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who אִתּ֖וֹ H854 for מִן־ H4480 from הַמַּאְרָֽב׃ H3993 that with him from lying in wait

³⁶ וַיַּרְא־ H7200 saw גַּעַל֮ H1603 And when Gaal אֶת־ H853 הָעָם֒ H5971 the people וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 he said אֶל־ H413 to זְבֻ֔ל H2083 to Zebul הִנֵּה־ H2009 Look עָ֣ם H5971 people יוֹרֵ֔ד H3381 down מֵרָאשֵׁ֖י H7218 from the top הֶהָרִ֑ים H2022 of the mountains וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 said אֵלָיו֙ H413 But זְבֻ֔ל H2083 And Zebul אֵ֣ת H853 צֵ֧ל H6738 the shadow הֶהָרִ֛ים H2022 of the mountains אַתָּ֥ה H859 You רֹאֶ֖ה H7200 unto him Thou seest כָּאֲנָשִֽׁים׃ H376 men ס

³⁷ וַיֹּ֨סֶף H3254 again ע֣וֹד H5750 again גַּעַל֮ H1603 And Gaal לְדַבֵּר֒ H1696 spake וַיֹּ֕אמֶר H559 and said הִנֵּה־ H2009 Behold עָם֙ H5971 people יֽוֹרְדִ֔ים H3381 down מֵעִ֖ם H5973 from טַבּ֣וּר H2872 by the middle הָאָ֑רֶץ H776 of the land וְרֹאשׁ־ H7218 company אֶחָ֣ד H259 and another בָּ֔א H935 come מִדֶּ֖רֶךְ H1870 of אֵל֥וֹן H436 along by the plain מְעוֹנְנִֽים׃ H6049 Meonenim

³⁸ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 Then said אֵלָ֜יו H413 then זְבֻ֗ל H2083 Zebul אַיֵּ֨ה H346 Where אֵפ֥וֹא H645 unto him Where now פִ֙יךָ֙ H6310 thy mouth אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 which תֹּאמַ֔ר H559 wherewith thou saidst מִ֥י H4310 Who אֲבִימֶ֖לֶךְ H40 Who Abimelech כִּ֣י H3588 should נַעַבְדֶ֑נּוּ H5647 that we should serve הֲלֹ֨א H3808 not זֶ֤ה H2088 is this הָעָם֙ H5971 him? not this the people אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 whom מָאַ֣סְתָּה H3988 that thou hast despised בּ֔וֹ H0 צֵא־ H3318 ? go out נָ֥א H4994 I pray now עַתָּ֖ה H6258 now וְהִלָּ֥חֶם H3898 and fight בּֽוֹ׃ H0 ס

³⁹ וַיֵּ֣צֵא H3318 went out גַ֔עַל H1603 And Gaal לִפְנֵ֖י H6440 before בַּעֲלֵ֣י H1167 the men שְׁכֶ֑ם H7927 of Shechem וַיִּלָּ֖חֶם H3898 and fought בַּאֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃ H40 with Abimelech

⁴⁰ וַיִּרְדְּפֵ֣הוּ H7291 chased אֲבִימֶ֔לֶךְ H40 And Abimelech וַיָּ֖נָס H5127 him and he fled מִפָּנָ֑יו H6440 before וַֽיִּפְּל֛וּ H5307 were overthrown חֲלָלִ֥ים H2491 wounded רַבִּ֖ים H7227 him and many עַד־ H5704 up פֶּ֥תַח H6607 unto the entering הַשָּֽׁעַר׃ H8179 of the gate

⁴¹ וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב H3427 dwelt אֲבִימֶ֖לֶךְ H40 And Abimelech בָּארוּמָ֑ה H725 at Arumah וַיְגָ֧רֶשׁ H1644 thrust out זְבֻ֛ל H2083 and Zebul אֶת־ H853 גַּ֥עַל H1603 Gaal וְאֶת־ H853 אֶחָ֖יו H251 and his brethren מִשֶּׁ֥בֶת H3427 that they should not dwell בִּשְׁכֶֽם׃ H7927 in Shechem

⁴² וַֽיְהִי֙ H1961 came מִֽמָּחֳרָ֔ת H4283 And it came to pass on the morrow וַיֵּצֵ֥א H3318 went out הָעָ֖ם H5971 that the people הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה H7704 into the field וַיַּגִּ֖דוּ H5046 and they told לַאֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃ H40 Abimelech

⁴³ וַיִּקַּ֣ח H3947 And he took אֶת־ H853 הָעָ֗ם H5971 the people וַֽיֶּחֱצֵם֙ H2673 and divided לִשְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה H7969 them into three רָאשִׁ֔ים H7218 companies וַיֶּאֱרֹ֖ב H693 and laid wait בַּשָּׂדֶ֑ה H7704 in the field וַיַּ֗רְא H7200 and looked וְהִנֵּ֤ה H2009 behold הָעָם֙ H5971 and behold the people יֹצֵ֣א H3318 come forth מִן־ H4480 from הָעִ֔יר H5892 out of the city וַיָּ֥קָם H6965 and he rose up עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם H5921 against וַיַּכֵּֽם׃ H5221 against them and smote

⁴⁴ וַאֲבִימֶ֗לֶךְ H40 And Abimelech וְהָרָאשִׁים֙ H7218 and the company אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who עִמּ֔וֹ H5973 with פָּשְׁט֕וּ H6584 that with him rushed forward וַיַּ֣עַמְד֔וּ H5975 and stood פֶּ֖תַח H6607 in the entering שַׁ֣עַר H8179 of the gate הָעִ֑יר H5892 of the city וּשְׁנֵ֣י H8147 and the two הָֽרָאשִׁ֗ים H7218 companies פָּֽשְׁט֛וּ H6584 ran upon עַֽל־ H5921 against כָּל־ H3605 all אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 who בַּשָּׂדֶ֖ה H7704 all that in the fields וַיַּכּֽוּם׃ H5221 and slew

⁴⁵ וַאֲבִימֶ֜לֶךְ H40 And Abimelech נִלְחָ֣ם H3898 fought בָּעִ֗יר H5892 against the city כֹּ֚ל H3605 all הַיּ֣וֹם H3117 all that day הַה֔וּא H1931 and he וַיִּלְכֹּד֙ H3920 and he took אֶת־ H853 הָעִ֔יר H5892 the city וְאֶת־ H853 הָעָ֥ם H5971 the people אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who בָּ֖הּ H0 הָרָ֑ג H2026 and slew וַיִּתֹּץ֙ H5422 that therein and beat down אֶת־ H853 הָעִ֔יר H5892 the city וַיִּזְרָעֶ֖הָ H2232 and sowed מֶֽלַח׃ H4417 it with salt פ

⁴⁶ וַֽיִּשְׁמְע֔וּ H8085 heard כָּֽל־ H3605 all בַּעֲלֵ֖י H1167 And when all the men מִֽגְדַּל־ H4026 of the tower שְׁכֶ֑ם H7927 of Shechem וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ H935 they entered אֶל־ H413 about צְרִ֔יחַ H6877 into an hold בֵּ֖ית H1004 of the house אֵ֥ל H410 of the god בְּרִֽית׃ H1286 Berith

⁴⁷ וַיֻּגַּ֖ד H5046 And it was told לַאֲבִימֶ֑לֶךְ H40 Abimelech כִּ֣י H3588 for הִֽתְקַבְּצ֔וּ H6908 were gathered together כָּֽל־ H3605 all בַּעֲלֵ֖י H1167 that all the men מִֽגְדַּל־ H4026 of the tower שְׁכֶֽם׃ H7927 of Shechem

⁴⁸ וַיַּ֨עַל H5927 gat him up אֲבִימֶ֜לֶךְ H40 And Abimelech הַר־ H2022 to mount צַלְמ֗וֹן H6756 Zalmon הוּא֮ H1931 he וְכָל־ H3605 and all הָעָ֣ם H5971 he and all the people אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who אִתּוֹ֒ H854 for וַיִּקַּח֩ H3947 took אֲבִימֶ֨לֶךְ H40 that with him and Abimelech אֶת־ H853 הַקַּרְדֻּמּ֜וֹת H7134 an axe בְּיָד֗וֹ H3027 in his hand וַיִּכְרֹת֙ H3772 and cut down שׂוֹכַ֣ת H7754 a bough עֵצִ֔ים H6086 from the trees וַיִּ֨שָּׂאֶ֔הָ H5375 and took וַיָּ֖שֶׂם H7760 it and laid עַל־ H5921 on שִׁכְמ֑וֹ H7926 on his shoulder וַיֹּ֜אמֶר H559 and said אֶל־ H413 to הָעָ֣ם H5971 unto the people אֲשֶׁר־ H834 who עִמּ֗וֹ H5973 with מָ֤ה H4100 What רְאִיתֶם֙ H7200 that with him What ye have seen עָשִׂ֔יתִי H6213 me do מַהֲר֖וּ H4116 make haste עֲשׂ֥וּ H6213 do כָמֽוֹנִי׃ H3644 as I

⁴⁹ וַיִּכְרְת֨וּ H3772 likewise cut down גַם־ H1571 also כָּל־ H3605 All הָעָ֜ם H5971 And all the people אִ֣ישׁ H376 every man שׂוֹכֹ֗ה H7754 his bough וַיֵּ֨לְכ֜וּ H1980 along אַחֲרֵ֤י H310 after that אֲבִימֶ֙לֶךְ֙ H40 Abimelech וַיָּשִׂ֣ימוּ H7760 and put עַֽל־ H5921 over הַצְּרִ֔יחַ H6877 to the hold וַיַּצִּ֧יתוּ H3341 and set עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם H5921 over אֶֽת־ H853 הַצְּרִ֖יחַ H6877 the hold בָּאֵ֑שׁ H784 on fire וַיָּמֻ֜תוּ H4191 died גַּ֣ם H1571 also כָּל־ H3605 all אַנְשֵׁ֧י H376 men מִֽגְדַּל־ H4026 of the tower שְׁכֶ֛ם H7927 of Shechem כְּאֶ֖לֶף H505 also about a thousand אִ֥ישׁ H376 the men וְאִשָּֽׁה׃ H802 and women פ

⁵⁰ וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ H1980 went אֲבִימֶ֖לֶךְ H40 Abimelech אֶל־ H413 to תֵּבֵ֑ץ H8405 to Thebez וַיִּ֥חַן H2583 and encamped בְּתֵבֵ֖ץ H8405 against Thebez וַֽיִּלְכְּדָֽהּ׃ H3920 and took

⁵¹ וּמִגְדַּל־ H4026 tower עֹז֮ H5797 But there was a strong הָיָ֣ה H1961 become בְתוֹךְ־ H8432 within הָעִיר֒ H5892 the city וַיָּנֻ֨סוּ H5127 and thither fled שָׁ֜מָּה H8033 there כָּל־ H3605 and all הָאֲנָשִׁ֣ים H582 all the men וְהַנָּשִׁ֗ים H802 and women וְכֹל֙ H3605 all בַּעֲלֵ֣י H1167 and all they הָעִ֔יר H5892 of the city וַֽיִּסְגְּר֖וּ H5462 and shut בַּעֲדָ֑ם H1157 and they וַֽיַּעֲל֖וּ H5927 to them and gat them up עַל־ H5921 on גַּ֥ג H1406 to the top הַמִּגְדָּֽל׃ H4026 of the tower

⁵² וַיָּבֹ֤א H935 came אֲבִימֶ֙לֶךְ֙ H40 And Abimelech עַד־ H5704 against הַמִּגְדָּ֔ל H4026 unto the tower וַיִּלָּ֖חֶם H3898 and fought בּ֑וֹ H0 וַיִּגַּ֛שׁ H5066 against it and went hard עַד־ H5704 against פֶּ֥תַח H6607 unto the door הַמִּגְדָּ֖ל H4026 of the tower לְשָׂרְפ֥וֹ H8313 to burn בָאֵֽשׁ׃ H784 it with fire

⁵³ וַתַּשְׁלֵ֞ךְ H7993 cast אִשָּׁ֥ה H802 woman אַחַ֛ת H259 And a certain פֶּ֥לַח H6400 a piece רֶ֖כֶב H7393 of a millstone עַל־ H5921 and רֹ֣אשׁ H7218 head אֲבִימֶ֑לֶךְ H40 upon Abimelech's וַתָּ֖רִץ H7533 and all to brake אֶת־ H853 גֻּלְגָּלְתּֽוֹ׃ H1538 his skull

⁵⁴ וַיִּקְרָ֨א H7121 Then he called מְהֵרָ֜ה H4120 hastily אֶל־ H413 to הַנַּ֣עַר ׀ H5288 unto the young man נֹשֵׂ֣א H5375 bearer כֵלָ֗יו H3627 his armor וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 and said לוֹ֙ H0 שְׁלֹ֤ף H8025 unto him Draw חַרְבְּךָ֙ H2719 thy sword וּמ֣וֹתְתֵ֔נִי H4191 and slay פֶּן־ H6435 so יֹ֥אמְרוּ H559 me that men say לִ֖י H0 אִשָּׁ֣ה H802 not of me A woman הֲרָגָ֑תְהוּ H2026 slew וַיִּדְקְרֵ֥הוּ H1856 thrust him through נַעֲר֖וֹ H5288 him And his young man וַיָּמֹֽת׃ H4191 and he died

⁵⁵ וַיִּרְא֥וּ H7200 saw אִֽישׁ־ H376 And when the men יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל H3478 of Israel כִּ֣י H3588 for מֵ֣ת H4191 was dead אֲבִימֶ֑לֶךְ H40 that Abimelech וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ H1980 departed אִ֥ישׁ H376 every man לִמְקֹמֽוֹ׃ H4725 unto his place

⁵⁶ וַיָּ֣שֶׁב H7725 rendered אֱלֹהִ֔ים H430 Thus God אֵ֖ת H853 רָעַ֣ת H7451 the wickedness אֲבִימֶ֑לֶךְ H40 of Abimelech אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 which עָשָׂה֙ H6213 which he did לְאָבִ֔יו H1 unto his father לַהֲרֹ֖ג H2026 in slaying אֶת־ H853 שִׁבְעִ֥ים H7657 his seventy אֶחָֽיו׃ H251 brethren

⁵⁷ וְאֵ֗ת H853 כָּל־ H3605 all רָעַת֙ H7451 And all the evil אַנְשֵׁ֣י H376 of the men שְׁכֶ֔ם H7927 of Shechem הֵשִׁ֥יב H7725 render אֱלֹהִ֖ים H430 did God בְּרֹאשָׁ֑ם H7218 upon their heads וַתָּבֹ֣א H935 and upon them came אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם H413 and to קִֽלֲלַ֖ת H7045 the curse יוֹתָ֥ם H3147 of Jotham בֶּן־ H1121 the son יְרֻבָּֽעַל׃ H3378 of Jerubbaal פ

¹ וַיָּקָם֩ H6965 there arose אַחֲרֵ֨י H310 And after אֲבִימֶ֜לֶךְ H40 Abimelech לְהוֹשִׁ֣יעַ H3467 to defend אֶת־ H853 יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל H3478 Israel תּוֹלָ֧ע H8439 Tola בֶּן־ H1121 the son פּוּאָ֛ה H6312 of Puah בֶּן־ H1121 the son דּוֹד֖וֹ H1734 of Dodo אִ֣ישׁ H376 a man יִשָּׂשכָ֑ר H3485 of Issachar וְהֽוּא־ H1931 and he יֹשֵׁ֥ב H3427 and he dwelt בְּשָׁמִ֖יר H8069 in Shamir בְּהַ֥ר H2022 in mount אֶפְרָֽיִם׃ H669 Ephraim

² וַיִּשְׁפֹּט֙ H8199 And he judged אֶת־ H853 יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 Israel עֶשְׂרִ֥ים H6242 twenty וְשָׁלֹ֖שׁ H7969 and three שָׁנָ֑ה H8141 years וַיָּ֖מָת H4191 and died וַיִּקָּבֵ֥ר H6912 and was buried בְּשָׁמִֽיר׃ H8069 in Shamir פ

³ וַיָּ֣קָם H6965 him arose אַחֲרָ֔יו H310 And after יָאִ֖יר H2971 Jair הַגִּלְעָדִ֑י H1569 a Gileadite וַיִּשְׁפֹּט֙ H8199 and judged אֶת־ H853 יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 Israel עֶשְׂרִ֥ים H6242 twenty וּשְׁתַּ֖יִם H8147 and two שָׁנָֽה׃ H8141 years

⁴ וַֽיְהִי־ H1961 had ל֞וֹ H0 שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים H7970 And he had thirty בָּנִ֗ים H1121 sons רֹֽכְבִים֙ H7392 that rode עַל־ H5921 on שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים H7970 on thirty עֲיָרִ֔ים H5895 ass colts וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים H7970 and they had thirty עֲיָרִ֖ים H5895 donkeys לָהֶ֑ם H1992 like לָהֶ֞ם H1992 that יִקְרְא֣וּ ׀ H7121 which are called חַוֹּ֣ת H0 יָאִ֗יר H2334 Havothjair עַ֚ד H5704 against הַיּ֣וֹם H3117 unto this day הַזֶּ֔ה H2088 to this אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 it בְּאֶ֥רֶץ H776 which in the land הַגִּלְעָֽד׃ H1568 of Gilead

⁵ וַיָּ֣מָת H4191 died יָאִ֔יר H2971 And Jair וַיִּקָּבֵ֖ר H6912 and was buried בְּקָמֽוֹן׃ H7056 in Camon פ

⁶ וַיֹּסִ֣פוּ ׀ H3254 again בְּנֵ֣י H1121 And the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל H3478 of Israel לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת H6213 did הָרַע֮ H7451 evil בְּעֵינֵ֣י H5869 in the sight יְהוָה֒ H3068 of the LORD וַיַּעַבְד֣וּ H5647 and served אֶת־ H853 הַבְּעָלִ֣ים H1168 Baalim וְאֶת־ H853 הָעַשְׁתָּר֡וֹת H6252 and Ashtaroth וְאֶת־ H853 אֱלֹהֵ֣י H430 and the gods אֲרָם֩ H758 of Syria וְאֶת־ H853 אֱלֹהֵ֨י H430 and the gods צִיד֜וֹן H6721 of Zidon וְאֵ֣ת ׀ H853 אֱלֹהֵ֣י H430 and the gods מוֹאָ֗ב H4124 of Moab וְאֵת֙ H853 אֱלֹהֵ֣י H430 and the gods בְנֵי־ H1121 of the children עַמּ֔וֹן H5983 of Ammon וְאֵ֖ת H853 אֱלֹהֵ֣י H430 and the gods פְלִשְׁתִּ֑ים H6430 of the Philistines וַיַּעַזְב֥וּ H5800 and forsook אֶת־ H853 יְהוָ֖ה H3068 the LORD וְלֹ֥א H3808 and did not עֲבָדֽוּהוּ׃ H5647 and served

⁷ וַיִּֽחַר־ H2734 was hot אַ֥ף H639 And the anger יְהוָ֖ה H3068 of the LORD בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 against Israel וַֽיִּמְכְּרֵם֙ H4376 and he sold בְּיַד־ H3027 them into the hands פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים H6430 of the Philistines וּבְיַ֖ד H3027 and into the hands בְּנֵ֥י H1121 of the children עַמּֽוֹן׃ H5983 of Ammon

⁸ וַֽיִּרְעֲצ֤וּ H7492 they vexed וַיְרֹֽצְצוּ֙ H7533 and oppressed אֶת־ H853 בְּנֵ֣י H1121 the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 of Israel בַּשָּׁנָ֖ה H8141 And that year הַהִ֑יא H1931 he שְׁמֹנֶ֨ה H8083 eight עֶשְׂרֵ֜ה H6240 teen שָׁנָ֗ה H8141 years אֶֽת־ H853 כָּל־ H3605 they all בְּנֵ֤י H1121 all the children יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ H3478 of Israel אֲשֶׁר֙ H834 who בְּעֵ֣בֶר H5676 that on the other side הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן H3383 Jordan בְּאֶ֥רֶץ H776 in the land הָאֱמֹרִ֖י H567 of the Amorites אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 who בַּגִּלְעָֽד׃ H1568 which in Gilead

⁹ וַיַּעַבְר֤וּ H5674 passed over בְנֵֽי־ H1121 Moreover the children עַמּוֹן֙ H5983 of Ammon אֶת־ H853 הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן H3383 Jordan לְהִלָּחֵ֛ם H3898 to fight גַּם־ H1571 also בִּיהוּדָ֥ה H3063 also against Judah וּבְבִנְיָמִ֖ין H1144 and against Benjamin וּבְבֵ֣ית H1004 and against the house אֶפְרָ֑יִם H669 of Ephraim וַתֵּ֥צֶר H3334 distressed לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל H3478 so that Israel מְאֹֽד׃ H3966 was sore

¹⁰ וַֽיִּזְעֲקוּ֙ H2199 cried בְּנֵ֣י H1121 And the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 of Israel אֶל־ H413 to יְהוָ֖ה H3068 unto the LORD לֵאמֹ֑ר H559 saying חָטָ֣אנוּ H2398 We have sinned לָ֔ךְ H0 וְכִ֤י H3588 for עָזַ֙בְנוּ֙ H5800 against thee both because we have forsaken אֶת־ H853 אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ H430 our God וַֽנַּעֲבֹ֖ד H5647 and also served אֶת־ H853 הַבְּעָלִֽים׃ H1168 Baalim פ

¹¹ וַ֥יֹּאמֶר H559 said יְהוָ֖ה H3068 And the LORD אֶל־ H413 to בְּנֵ֣י H1121 unto the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 of Israel הֲלֹ֤א H3808 not מִמִּצְרַ֙יִם֙ H4714 not from the Egyptians וּמִן־ H4480 at הָ֣אֱמֹרִ֔י H567 and from the Amorites וּמִן־ H4480 at בְּנֵ֥י H1121 from the children עַמּ֖וֹן H5983 of Ammon וּמִן־ H4480 at פְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃ H6430 Philistine

¹² וְצִידוֹנִ֤ים H6722 The Zidonians וַֽעֲמָלֵק֙ H6002 also and the Amalekites וּמָע֔וֹן H4584 and the Maonites לָחֲצ֖וּ H3905 did oppress אֶתְכֶ֑ם H853 וַתִּצְעֲק֣וּ H6817 you and ye cried אֵלַ֔י H413 to וָאוֹשִׁ֥יעָה H3467 to me and I delivered אֶתְכֶ֖ם H853 מִיָּדָֽם׃ H3027 you out of their hand

¹³ וְאַתֶּם֙ H859 you עֲזַבְתֶּ֣ם H5800 Yet ye have forsaken אוֹתִ֔י H853 וַתַּעַבְד֖וּ H5647 me and served אֱלֹהִ֣ים H430 gods אֲחֵרִ֑ים H312 other לָכֵ֥ן H3651 therefore לֹֽא־ H3808 will no אוֹסִ֖יף H3254 you no more לְהוֹשִׁ֥יעַ H3467 wherefore I will deliver אֶתְכֶֽם׃ H853

¹⁴ לְכ֗וּ H1980 Go וְזַֽעֲקוּ֙ H2199 and cry אֶל־ H413 to הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים H430 unto the gods אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 which בְּחַרְתֶּ֖ם H977 which ye have chosen בָּ֑ם H0 הֵ֛מָּה H1992 let them יוֹשִׁ֥יעוּ H3467 deliver לָכֶ֖ם H0 בְּעֵ֥ת H6256 you in the time צָרַתְכֶֽם׃ H6869 of your tribulation

¹⁵ וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ H559 said בְנֵי־ H1121 And the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל H3478 of Israel אֶל־ H413 to יְהוָה֙ H3068 unto the LORD חָטָ֔אנוּ H2398 We have sinned עֲשֵׂה־ H6213 do אַתָּ֣ה H859 you לָ֔נוּ H0 כְּכָל־ H3605 whatever הַטּ֖וֹב H2896 good בְּעֵינֶ֑יךָ H5869 thou unto us whatsoever seemeth אַ֛ךְ H389 only הַצִּילֵ֥נוּ H5337 unto thee deliver נָ֖א H4994 please הַיּ֥וֹם H3117 us only we pray thee this day הַזֶּֽה׃ H2088 this

¹⁶ וַיָּסִ֜ירוּ H5493 And they put away אֶת־ H853 אֱלֹהֵ֤י H430 gods הַנֵּכָר֙ H5236 the strange מִקִּרְבָּ֔ם H7130 from among וַיַּעַבְד֖וּ H5647 them and served אֶת־ H853 יְהוָ֑ה H3068 the LORD וַתִּקְצַ֥ר H7114 was grieved נַפְשׁ֖וֹ H5315 and his soul בַּעֲמַ֥ל H5999 for the misery יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ H3478 of Israel פ

¹⁷ וַיִּצָּֽעֲקוּ֙ H6817 were gathered together בְּנֵ֣י H1121 Then the children עַמּ֔וֹן H5983 of Ammon וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ H2583 and encamped בַּגִּלְעָ֑ד H1568 in Gilead וַיֵּאָֽסְפוּ֙ H622 assembled themselves together בְּנֵ֣י H1121 And the children יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 of Israel וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ H2583 and encamped בַּמִּצְפָּֽה׃ H4709 in Mizpeh

¹⁸ וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ H559 said הָעָ֜ם H5971 And the people שָׂרֵ֤י H8269 princes גִלְעָד֙ H1568 of Gilead אִ֣ישׁ H376 one אֶל־ H413 about רֵעֵ֔הוּ H7453 to another מִ֣י H4310 Who הָאִ֔ישׁ H376 What man אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who יָחֵ֔ל H2490 that will begin לְהִלָּחֵ֖ם H3898 to fight בִּבְנֵ֣י H1121 against the children עַמּ֑וֹן H5983 Ammon יִֽהְיֶ֣ה H1961 become לְרֹ֔אשׁ H7218 head לְכֹ֖ל H3605 all יֹשְׁבֵ֥י H3427 over all the inhabitants גִלְעָֽד׃ H1568 of Gilead פ

11
