1

¹ Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy to the congregation of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

² May grace be yours and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

³ We must always give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is right, because your faith is really growing, and the love of each one of you is increasing for one another.

⁴ That is why we ourselves boast about you in the congregations of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure, 2Th 1:5 which is clear indication for God's righteous judgment, so that you may be considered worthy of the Kingdom of God, for which you suffer,

⁶ since it is a righteous thing with God to repay tribulation to those who trouble you.

⁷ And to you, who are troubled, rest with us in the coming of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his mighty angels,

⁸ taking vengeance with flaming fire on those who do not know God and those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁹ These will be punished with everlasting punishment from the Lord's presence and from the glory of his power

¹⁰ as soon as he comes to be glorified by his holy people and to be admired by all those who believe, on that day, because our testimony was believed among you.

¹¹ Therefore, we always pray for you also, so that our God would consider you worthy of the calling. May he fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness and the work of faith with power.

¹² In this way the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified by you and you by him according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹ Now we plead with you, brothers, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to him.

² Don't be quickly upset in your mind or troubled, not by spirit, spoken word, or letter, as if from us, that the Day of Christ is at hand.

³ Don't let anyone deceive you by any method, for [that day will not come] unless a falling away comes first and that man of sin, the son of perdition, is revealed.

⁴ He opposes and exalts himself above everything that is called god or what is worshipped, so that he, as if God, sits in God's temple showing that he, himself, is god.

⁵ Don't you remember when I was with you that I told you these things?

⁶ And now you know what holds this back, that he might be revealed in his proper time.

⁷ For the mystery of lawlessness is already working only held back until he, who holds back, is taken out of the way.

⁸ Then that Wicked will be revealed whom the Lord will completely destroy with the breath of his mouth and will reduce to nothing with the brightness of his coming.

⁹ This one whose coming is according to the energy of Satan with all lying miracles, signs, and wonders.

¹⁰ And [he comes] with all unrighteous power to deceive those who perish, because they didn't receive the love of the truth that they might be saved.

¹¹ For this reason God will send them strong delusion, so that they would believe a lie,

¹² and that they might all be damned, who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

¹³ However we have a duty to always give thanks to God for you, brothers, beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you to salvation from the beginning.

¹⁴ That's why he called you by our gospel, to obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁵ Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold on to the traditions that you were taught whether by our spoken word or our letter.

¹⁶ Now may our Lord Jesus Christ, himself, and God, even our Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting comfort and good hope through grace,

¹⁷ comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.

¹ Finally, brothers, pray for us so that the word of the Lord may run freely and be glorified even as it is with you,

² and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men, for all do not have faith.

³ But the Lord is faithful, who will firmly set you and keep you from evil.

⁴ We have confidence in the Lord concerning you that you both do and will do the things that we tell you.

⁵ May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patient waiting for Christ.

⁶ Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that you withdraw yourselves from every brother who lives disorderly, not according to the tradition that he received from us.

⁷ You know how you must imitate us, for we didn't live disorderly among you.

⁸ Also we didn't eat any one's food free of charge but worked with pain and travail day and night, so that we might not burdensome on any of you,

⁹ not because we don't have authority but to make ourselves an example to you, to imitate us.

¹⁰ For even when we were with you, we commanded this to you, so that if any would not work neither should he eat.

¹¹ For we hear that there are some among you, who are disorderly, not working at all but are busybodies.

¹² Now to those who are this way we command and urge by our Lord Jesus Christ that they work quietly and eat their own food.

¹³ Brothers, don't get tired of doing good.

¹⁴ If any one doesn't obey our word by this letter, take note of him and do not associate with him, in order that he may ashamed.

¹⁵ Yet don't consider him as an enemy but gently reprove him as a brother.

¹⁶ Now may the Lord of peace himself always give you peace in every way. The Lord be with you all.

¹⁷ I write this: "Greetings from Paul" with my own hand, which is the sign in every letter. This is the way I write.

¹⁸ May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you. Amen.
