Safety when using free WiFi

Free is good, but not safe.
  1. We may always disable WiFi when it is not needed? So the battery is less discharged and will not be disturbed by intrusive advertising. Personally, I like to be away from the Internet periodically.
  2. We do not make payments through free public WiFi and do not enter bank card details, electronic money ...
  3. Do not let your device remember the network. Otherwise it will automatically connect. Attackers can create their own access point with the same name and therefore access your data, or maybe your finances.
  4. Pay attention to the name of the network. Scammers call their network a similar name on the operating nearby. For example, McDonald's is far away, but the signal is very strong. Or the network is paid, but suddenly it's free.
Before connecting, we specify the name and include the brain.
  5. We use the antivirus. Antivirus should be updated regularly, otherwise it is useless. A good antivirus will protect you from hacking and warn you about a fake WiFi network.
  6. Use dual authentication networks.
A network that does not require additional connection actions can be unsafe. To feel safe, choose a network that requires you to enter the code sent to your phone.
  7. Do not store passwords in clear text.
If you are writing passwords, use the password manager for this.
  8. Pay attention to the website URL.
  9. All sites that are connected with money or entering personal data (shops, banks, Yandex services, Google ...) have a secure connection, that is, https:// instead of the usual http://.
