Apostles' Creed

Πιστεύω εἰς θεòν

Credo
Latin text

Amen.

Creed
English text
I believe in God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
born of the Virgin Mary,
Under Pontius Pilate, He was crucified, died, and was buried.
was crucified, died and was buried;
He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again.
on the third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
and life everlasting.
Amen.

Filioque
(lat. Filioque — and from the Son)
An addition to the Latin text of the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed, made in the 7th century by the Western (Roman) Church in the dogma of the Trinity: about the procession of the Holy Spirit not only from God the Father, but “from the Father and the Son”, and officially accepted by it in the 11th century.
Christianity grew and developed for about 300 years. People accepted the faith at the risk of their lives, and many gave their lives without renouncing the faith.
From faith in what? Definitely not in the Creed, because it was only set out at the Council of Nicaea in 325.

By and large, the Creed is faith in Jesus plus faith in the Trinity.

Where did the Trinity come from?
This word was not in the beginning, and it is not in the Bible either.

Darwin's Theory

A small digression so that it will be clearer later.
Charles Darwin creates his theory. There are 1/3 facts and 2/3 conclusions, ideas ... Everything is very raw, as it should be.
Darwin publishes his theory. Scientists should study and appoint an opponent to him.

That is, a meeting of scientists should be created, where Darwin would defend his theory, and another scientist would oppose him.
As a result, some of Darwin's ideas would be confirmed, and some would be refuted.
At this council, a slightly different theory would be formed, closer to reality.

That's how it works. But it didn't happen. Darwin's theory was accepted in its raw form, as the truth.
The USSR, because this theory fit perfectly with the ideas of communism.
The USA - because it justified slavery, Blacks were defined as a transitional link between man and ape. And since animals can be exploited, it means that transitional species can be exploited as well.

By the way, this is not what Darwin expected, so before his death he renounced his theory.

First Council of Nicaea

Arian Heresy

Arius proposed his teaching.
He claimed that the Son (Jesus) is not equal to the Father, not one with Him in essence, but simply a creation.

Trinity

Deacon Athanasius opposed Arius, essentially proposing the theory of the Trinity.

If Arius had taken Athanasius seriously, they could have come to the truth, but the result was that the opponents dispersed.
Arius spread his teaching among the Germanic tribes, and the church accepted the teaching of the Trinity.

Symbol of Faith

As a result, the Nicene Creed was developed. That is, the biblical creed plus the Trinity.
Now it was necessary to believe not only in Jesus, but also in the Trinity.

Filioque

The Nicene Creed was agreed upon and, like a constitution, no one can change it.
A similar council is required to change it.

But the Western Church (now Catholic) unilaterally changed the text of the creed:
about the procession of the Holy Spirit not only from God the Father, but also from the Son.

This became practically the key reason for the split of the Church.

Result

The Church split because of something that is not in the Bible, and to which Jesus did not call, and without which the Church was founded and strengthened in the first hundreds of years.

How could this happen? - The Church began to clarify the nature of God, something like the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

If the Arian heresy had not appeared, the term Trinity would not exist to this day.

If the doctrine of the Trinity is so important, then why does no one really understand it?
In my opinion, Jesus said everything important in plain text and more than once, and that is what we should build our faith on.
And there is no need to study the composition of God, we need to be more modest.
