James StrongJames Strong August 14, 1822 - August 7, 1894 religious affiliation: Methodist, citizenship: the United States, theologian, philologist, became widely known as the creator of Strong's Concordance.
Jace was born in 1844 in the city of New York. He graduated from Wesleyan University.
He was the mayor of New York. He then moved to Flushing, New York, where he conducted biblical studies, held various positions of local importance, and was also the organizer, initiator, and president of the Flushing railway.
In 1856, Wesleyan University awarded him the degree of Doctor of Divinity. From 1858 to 1861, Strong was both acting president and professor of biblical literature at the University of Troy of New York State.
In 1868, he became a professor of exegetical theology at the Theological Seminary of Drew, where he remained for twenty-seven years.
In 1881, Wesley University awarded Strong with the degree of Doctor of Science (Doctor of Law). He died at Ridge Lake, New York State in 1894.
